Unitl I get the oh-so-elusive champs Niv-Mizzet, I will be making a mono-red artifact EDH deck. Artifacts that get blown up and cause damage, do funny things. Basically the deck is one big melting pot of sac-triggers and direct damage. My red relationship with artifacts is only second to my love of Blue-red

Well done Pheon, 24 packs is quite a lot. I only contacted one player in my group, he chose Phyrexia, but he's more of a constructed guy, and he didn't do super well.

The pre-release went terrible for me. I went phyrexian, I pulled zero from my packs, and went 0-2 drop. What a terrible night. I didn't like the whole faction thing to be honest, a pre-release where I only get to play half the set isn't very fun.

My lgs has the best prize support in the state, but people who won a ton of packs have to pick them up after the release of the set because the store doesn't have enough product in stock yet. I don't really mind it, I get more packs this way.
I went undefeated today through seven straight rounds(I split in the finals, but we played afterwards and I crushed him) and won 36 more packs, in addition to winning six packs from a random drawing.
I won a total of 66 packs in two days, that's pretty awesome, I can't wait to pick them up.
I loved the Spine. I never lost a game it came down in except my last one. I had a pair of sac outlets to abuse it (Oxidda Daredevil and Ferrovore), and I usually drew into it off of my Sphinx.
My buddy pulled Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas and gave it to me after he lost his last round because we don't play much together and I threatened never to drive him anywhere if he didn't.
All in all, I thought it was fun, and I plan on going to the release on Sunday this weekend.
As well, and this I just noticed on Cardkingdom, is there any reason Consecrated Sphinx is only like $6? Last I checked, it was one of the most anticipated cards outta Besieged....

I think the issue with Consecrated Sphinx, is it is either going to just blow up in price or tank, and right now people aren't sure. That is at least what I think.

Glad you guys that did go went to the prerelease. Even if you didn't run the table and make out like a bandit in packs, it's still always fun to go.
I got mixed reviews from my buddies about the whole faction pack thing. To me, it seemed like one of those things that was a cool concept, but not as well executed as it could be.

Consecrated Sphinx is definitely going to drop. It's fighting for the same slot as Wurmcoil/Titans are in T2 decks, and it doesn't have the same raw power as the former guys do.
Expect a LOT of stuff to drop in price. Inkmoth Nexus simply can't keep that $9-$10 pricetag when it's going to be so saturated in supply because it's a normal rare. Just ask Fauna Shaman.
100% agree about Inkmoth Nexus, as a regular rare, it'll definitely be going down. However, when it came to the new "Wurm with an Attitude," I grabbed my playset of ebay immediately. I was happy when I read Chapin's article about the set review and saw he felt the same. Can't wait to throw that into a deck.

The faction packs were ridiculous, I got sooooo much removal and bombs both days because of it.

Inkmoth Nexus is ☺☺☺☺ing sick, I expect it to at least hover around 8-9$.

I don't really have the highest of hopes for the card, Grave Titan is just so much better in the 6 mana slot. I can see the Wurm being an effective one or two-of in some U/B lists though.

I see it a different way right now. UW builds running Squadron Hawks, Elspeth Tirel, and White Sun's Zenith can literally die to it coming into play. Not only that, but when he's out, all of your removal get's better. I'm personally looking at building a Br version... really good against aggro and super fun to play against UW.

Im trying to put together an EDH deck but I want it to be wacky and ridiculous. Once I can get my hands on a Champs Promo Niv-Mizzet I would soooooo make that deck. He is my hero and I need him to come back as a planeswalker and fight Bolas. I could just go into a happy coma if that happened lol.
So I've been thinking (dangerous), and I want to put together a theory:
Wizards has been big on the nostalgia sets in recent years (Scars block, Coldsnap, and Timespiral block), and the storyline they've been running involves Bolas reinvigorating himself in Alara, then moving on to prompt the release of the Eldrazi on Zendikar, and now manipulating Tezz' on Mirrodin to some end.
If I've missed something, inform me, but I've also noticed that on the planes that aren't very "gold" (Zendi' and Mirr') he sees fit to use agents to do his work and doesn't do much hanging around. His planeswalker agents also happen to share his colors.
All that said, Wizards Trademarked the name "Innestrad" recently. So my completely baseless speculation is this:
Innestrad has something to do with Ravnica, and Bolas is headed there some time in the near future. Another gold-type set, political mechinations, factions that can be pitted against each other... seems perfectly up his alley. Annnnnnd maybe he meets Niv. Hopefully doesn't corrupt him!
Anyhow, I hope I'm not disappointed.

what up guys, played in the Pre release and took 6th falling out in top 8. Yeah ended up changing job position and have myself working in the booking area working 7pm to 3am so FNM are out the window for awhile. which sorta sucks.
Glad to hear you guys had fun at the Prerelease.
I got 3rd at the Saturday Midnight Prerelease with a strong GU Infect deck (featuring Phyrexian Hydra, Corrupted Conscience, some excellent Equipment, and a ton of mana Myr and other two-drops) because I made a play mistake and kept a bad hand in games two and three, respectively, while playing for 1st place and a box at 6am.
I got 2nd at the Sunday PR (only losing to an absurdly well-tuned BGU deck that was chock full of two-drop graveyard-trigger dorks and removal that won the game with Trigon of Infestation, Corrupted Conscience, and Praetor's Counsel...seriously) with a silly WBR deck featuring Indomitable Archangel, Phyrexian Rebirth, Molten-Tail Masticore, and Steel Hellkite (with Phyrexian Vatmother and Green Sun's Zenith as my other rares), but there were only about ten people at that one.
I won nine packs at each event, but I already sold most of them. I hear the faction packs are going to be worth a decent amount later, but I'd rather just make back some money while I can.
Mortarpod is one of the best Limited cards in MBS. Fo'realz. I opened it both days and was never disappointed to draw it.
EDIT: I almost forgot to mention what happened after the two PR events.
First, I won an awesome black deck box that holds two decks. Then we did a 3v3 team faction draft, and I was on Team Phyrexian (RAWR). I drafted a non-Infect GW aggro deck with an low curve topping out at two Fangren Marauders. At one point when the board was completely stalled out, I cast Creeping Corrosion and went up to 184 life.
After winning that draft and a few more boosters, we headed out to Buffalo Wild Wings for our usual PR dinner. However, MSU was playing that night so we stood around waiting for a table. Then they went to overtime, so we stood around some more. Then the game ended and they put a Pay-Per-View wrestling game on. I figured by now some people would leave. Maybe two or three parties left, and people who had gotten to the restaurant after us sat down before we could and sniped the tables. We waited for about 15 more minutes hoping someone would leave, but no one else did. I can't believe people actually watch that crap.
Because of that ridiculous situation, we went across town to the Olive Garden instead. Naturally, the food was excellent, but there was a piece of plastic in my soup. The manager gave me my meal for free, which was a nice end to the evening after waiting almost an hour and a half without getting served at BWWs.
I'm going skiing again tomorrow. Wish me luck (and no more painful injuries)!
My girl and I went 4th 5th, respectively tonight! Twas awesome.
Also, prerelease story. 2hG sealed, g/f as my better head lol. Pull an Exsanguinate, and then a foil Exsang' in the same pack. Built a controlling deck, and a Dinosaurs deck.
Drain your team for 12, pass, untap, drain your team for 12 more? Not too shabby.

Altered:4, Foil:2 Foreign:1
Chose Mirran, opened an okay pool, went 6-1 and won 24 packs(Third place).
Pretty good night, burn the impure is ridiculously awesome, and concussive bolt is mvp, it won me a single game in each match tonight.

I'm glad I chose Mirran both days.
I went Phyrexian Saturday morning at 12 am (3-1), Phyrexian Saturday afternoon (5-1), and Mirran Sunday (4-1).
I'd probably pick Phyrexia again if I did it a 4th time just because I like my opponents starting at 10 vs 20.

The faction packs were ridiculous, I got sooooo much removal and bombs both days because of it.
On sunday, I pulled nine removal spells, 4 4/4 fliers(Indomitable Archangel, Victory's Herald, and 2 Lumengrid Gargoyles), and Myr Turbine(which I hear is quite excellent with a sylvok lifestaff).
Oh, and I also had a Contagion Engine.
My deck was sick.
