I'm beginning to value a more public form of communication, it seems, so forgive me if I don't send said PM just yet... but am I correct in presuming you mean for Weaver and I to quit talking personally amongst ourselves in a friendly fashion?
Let me draw an analogy.
Ravus, you are the guy at the party who most people haven't seen in years and everyone welcomes heartily. Weaver, a close friend, comes up and begins talking loudly with you at length. Everyone around you starts to slowly back away because they can't join in on the conversation and it starts to get awkward because the two of you laughing and cajoling at the top of your lungs is distracting from the party and soon it's like no one else is even in the room.
Yeah, that's not good.
We've had problems with this in the past so I'd like to nip it in the bud before our newer members feel excluded because they haven't been around for ages like us old timers.
Forgive me for being argumentative, but it is my way:
My first point: Exactly how many parties have you been to that that particular scenario plays out? It's never happened to any of the parties I've been to, people are encouraged to join in and are then welcomed; just as I've been welcoming every poster since my return. I notice I'm getting nothing but welcomes, so far, at least.
Second point: Could you enlighten me to these "problems we've had in the past", please? I'm not sure I'm familiar...
Third: Indeed, he is. I'm sure Silent Prophet will return just as mysteriously as he ever does.

Yeah, that usually happens at one point or another, as well. Does anyone here believe that such characters as kpaca and PhantomS were once good friends of mine? Would anyone believe that I piss Psi and AI off, all the time?
Edit: For those that don't know, AC/DC is quite simply the greatest band in history. Anyone that disagrees has a right to their opinion, however wrong it may be.
I don't think my opinion is wrong, but that's just my opinion I suppose.
I don't like AC/DC too much, but that's merely because I don't like that genre. I prefer ska/reggae or some Scatman.
On another note: I took apart two of my EDH decks: Niv-Mizzet, The Firemind (my first deck) and Brion Stoutarm. I loved Niv, but I found that it was time to move on. I had played him for so long that I was just bored with the deck. Brion was crappy from the start, so I decided it was the end for him as well.

Yes I would like to know as well. I've recently talked to some very active Izzet posters and people I respect about issues with myself(forgive me guys, I'm leaving your names out of it, until you'd like to respod yourself.), but as for problems in the past, I've gone haywire once, but then again so have you AI, and Ravus, even wamyc. Thank You. I appreciate that.
Do I count as an old-timer? I don't really feel out of the loop at all, but you guys have been here eons before me.
I think you'd definitely count as alumni, you've been here for a good amount of time as well. And I'm glad you don't feel out of the loop, you shouldn't, interject when necessary, ask questions, and give opposing opinions, that way we all learn.
I don't like AC/DC too much, but that's merely because I don't like that genre. I prefer ska/reggae or some Scatman.
I never really got into Ska, I always like that one song from the original Tony Hawk games, Superman by Goldfinger, but thats about it. I've always been a Metal Head, and a Rivet Head.

Any Idea what you plan on building next? I'm still developing a Skythirix EDH deck.

Now, on to the juicy ☺☺☺☺:
I understand why you want to keep this topic privately discussed between us three, but I disagree. I've recently become more the type of person who shares information with his friends, so here goes:

For one, I feel intimidated by the sheer volume of one-line and obscure posts being made between the two of you, so I can only imagine how someone who doesn't know either of you feels.
I'm sorry, but I fail to see the point where we are distracting the party and cajoling to the point of acting like no one else is here. I thought in the Clans forum it was okay to have a conversation with friends, because its clans
When I come into the Clan and see half a dozen consecutive posts made in about an hour between two members who clearly have the knowledge and ability to communicate privately, the content of said posts being largely inside jokes and fringe interests, I do not see an environment conducive for meeting new people or promoting discussion among and between said new people. Your "this is Clans" argument doesn't hold water because you clearly weren't engaging the other members of the Clan.
See this is an issue that I have to address. I've already had a talk with some of the "newer" members, and I'm sorry AI, but our conversation didn't dominate the thread. Yeah, and the fact that you are a moderator certainly didn't influence any of them into agreeing with you.
I don't see you meeting or learning about new friends. I see the two of you having what is essentially a private conversation, regarding things the two of you like to talk about but most people have no interest in, in a public forum.
The air in this clan thread is different, it seems more aggressive, member's from other clans are getting chastized for posting here, and now the member's of this clan are getting the same deal. I don't get it.
You've got to be kidding me. rianalnn got called out for bringing an argument that was spamming MUC's thread into our thread when he was really just arguing with Surging Chaos. Just because SC happens to a member of the Izzet doesn't mean rianalnn has free reign to spam in our thread.
You're getting chastised for spamming the thread with your personal conversation. I hold the two of you and rianalnn to higher standards of conduct because as enforcers of the rules you're supposed to adhere to them.
That is if he is even allowed to post here. It might distract from whatever it is The Izzet are supposed to be talking about.
I actually like Silent Prophet. He's a nice guy and always has something worthwhile to say. Maybe he can give you some tips.
Seriously, guys. You were having an exclusive conversation in the Clan thread. The average Izzet member has almost nothing to say about the juxtaposition of insanity and enlightenment and how each may play out in the courses of the lives of everyday people depending on their circumstances and personality traits. Personally I find the topic interesting, but I'm sure not everyone does. You can talk about your interests and personal tastes, but do so while contributing to a greater conversation instead of taking center stage to yourselves. If you feel the need to have a more in-depth conversation on these matters, take it elsewhere.
Cheers,
AI

Now, I'm going to address a few points here, but I'm supposed to be busy at work (my lunchbreak is ending, just now), so I'll check back in on this later. I'm sorry, AI, I've always liked you, but I'm recently seeing some qualities in you that I do not so much agree with. Please don't overreact to my posting this private message. I have a purpose (to talk about our Clan's interests in public--with the Clan!) and I intend to address them... just not yet... low on time to do so.

I like how your conversation boosted the activity of the clan, but I really think that some of it should have been left to pms.
I can't speak for the rest of the members, but I was just fine by your conversation, but then again I have known you guys for a while.
TBH, I think that this conversation about your conversation is more awkward than anything else that was said, and I think you guys should have just dropped it a while ago.

I really think you should have just left it to pms, it's really not that big of a deal and you seem to be blowing things out of proportion. I really don't think you should've posted the pm, AI is a good leader and I don't think he deserves this disrespect.

Perhaps you are right, but again, I see both sides of the argument in favour or private messages and public communication. Since I believe this topic directly relates to and involves all of the Izzet as a clan here on MTGS, I want it to be public. I can't speak for Weaver, but it at least seems he agrees. I have noticed that certain members have been lacking in their Izzet-thread attendance, and want them, as my friends, to be able to speak to me freely in my own clan's thread (whereas AI--also a friend, normally--has asked them outright or convinced them otherwise to not post here). This bothers me: I want to speak to these people.
Here's where this degenerates, while at the same time reaching it's pique: I feel that the current state of the Izzet as a clan on MTGS is no longer what I have come to expect it to be, and want it to be, and remember it to be. Although I mean no disrespect to AsianInvasion, I feel as if I must either ask for him to cool down, step down, or tell me to leave the Izzet. If I leave the Izzet clan, I will promptly start my own, new clan. Something more suiting for my insanity and arrogance (not that these things aren't fitting in with the Izzet...!).
I'm sorry it has had to come to that, but this was my ultimatum. I'm sure AI would have, given different circumstances, loved to abuse me about possible card-tags in this post... lol!

I dunno, I know my posting habits really aren't the best in the clans at all, in fact, I probably contribute the least to our threads. I was a little intimidated by the amount of one liners you guys were posting. :/

Now Ravus, both you and AI are taking it to a extent way to far!
AI : Ravus is not here to take your spot as a leader of clan! He just came to spark activity.
Ravus : cool down please! We know you and your ways, but don't make this a bad thing please.

Now I really think you're taking things too far, he simply asked that you guys leave your inside jokes and whatnot to PMs.
I think all of you need to clear your heads a bit. You guys are friends, you should be able to have a talk without going for the throat.
As much as I appreciate your attempt to reestablish clan unity and whatnot(I really do agree with you on this, but you are going about things the wrong way), your problems should be brought to the leader's attention first. You guys should really just talk things over before you threaten to leave the clan and disrespect our leader. I know you guys can get past this.

I just ignored what I didn't understand and that was fine by me.
How's the deck going so far? I ran Skittles but was forced to take him apart when someone offered me a large amount of money for the deck, which was
also aided by my entire shop hating the deck (too good lol).
A tip for the deck: I tried to build completely around infect with all the black infect creatures, but what I came to realize was that all that really matters is Skithiryx. If you can get him out and protect him, you win. If you can't, you don't win.
The deck in essence is really simple: get Skithiryx out, protect him, win.
Oh, and the absolute best part about Skyithiryx: Worldslayer.... funniest games ever.
I thought he wasn't a legal general until recently, not many people should have experience with him.
It turns out that most shops (from what I've seen) already had it as a "house rule general." I've found some threads talking about it but not too many. And yeah, you're right, most people wouldn't have experience, just looking for another brain for ideas.
Can't we all just get along, I mean it is just a website, folks.
In other news, I am officially building Karn. I have about 40 cards so far, and I'm still working at it.
Karn is a very dangerous deck, one of my buddy runs it and everyone has to watch out because all of a sudden no one but the Karn player has any lands lol. Hopefully you'll get to add some cool stuff when Mirrodin Besieged comes out.

I have had a great success with Skittles, where I play EDH is quite competitive, so I don't have a power creep issue with him.
I've been playing it a a solid MBC deck, abusing infect and beating face with Skittles. I win 90% of games with Poison counters.
I don't usually use Worldslayer, its makes games seriously unfun and run waaaaaaaay too long...
Jitte, hammer, and The swords are always a good choice.

Oh, well I didn't know about that, my store still has him on the banlist.
I haven't really played an artifact-based EDH deck yet, so I don't think I could give you many ideas on the subject.
Also, I thank everyone for their input, even and especially Ravus. This Clan is great because we value everyone's opinion, even if it is contrary to our own. That doesn't mean we don't try to influence each other, of course.
The one statement I have issues with is the following:
(whereas AI--also a friend, normally--has asked them outright or convinced them otherwise to not post here)
This never happened. I am not trying to stop anyone from posting here. I am not on a power trip. I am not trying to ruin anyone's day. I am trying to curtail spammy posts and exclusionary conversations. I am doing so politely and with everyone's opinions in mind. I am trying to be fair and you, sir, are not helping. I hope that you can see my point of view and realize that you are not in the right.
EDIT: Fittingly, the message title of the PM I sent to Ravus and Weaver was "Maturity."
I heard that Emrakul is now banned in EDH/MTG-Commander. The local store's TO Steve is probably bummed because now he needs a new General for his favorite mono-brown deck, but the card does seem more than a little unfair. Thoughts?
To all but AI who have posted feelings that I am taking this too far: I disagree, as you do not have either my perspective on the situation, or the information that I seem to have access to.
Also, I thank everyone for their input, even and especially Ravus. This Clan is great because we value everyone's opinion, even if it is contrary to our own. That doesn't mean we don't try to influence each other, of course.

Did I say you were on a power-trip? Is that a freudian slip on your part? Is this something you've been thinking about, feeling guilty about? Why haven't certain members been posting here as of late? Because I haven't been posting? Doubtful, but disregard that... why haven't I been posting as of late (until just this week)? Because I have not felt comfortable with what the Izzet has been becoming. Or what I have been becoming (seems exactly the same to me, just less willing to deal with bull☺☺☺☺--even though I now try to resolve it with words instead of violence... lol, like violence would help over the internet, anyway :rollout:). I would argue that the reason for my discomfort is partially in some of the new guys coming in, and some of the old guys going away, and some of the other old guys being disagreeable. One way or another, I cannot remain in the Izzet, it seems.

EDIT: Fittingly, the message title of the PM I sent to Ravus and Weaver was "Maturity."
That is fitting, indeed. Unfortunately, I doubt you're considering your own maturity when you made that above statement. I know I'm mimature, but yet you're the first person making personal attacks on my maturity? Which of us is less mature, and how? And you were so arrogant as to send that "lesson on maturity" to a moderator? Wow.
Consider this my official resignation from the Izzet clan on MTGSalvation. I will begin my own clan shortly, I'm simply going to take an undisclosed amount of time to consider some undisclosed information and take some undisclosed actions, beforehand. Anyone interested in my clan, send me a private message, anyone who disagrees with me can do the same. Or hell, post it here. It's no hair off my ass, either way. But please, anyone and everyone who has an opinion for me, share it!
...Again I have to apologize for my abruptness and blunt wordings, but ☺☺☺☺ happens. I'm over it. I expect infractions for flaming, trolling, whatever may come my way. Banning would probably be a bit far, but I'm not in charge of that decision: Whatever happens, happens, I suppose.
Consider this my official resignation from the Izzet clan on MTGSalvation.
Let me know if and when you change your mind. It was nice to have you around despite our disagreements.
Also, I don't know why you expect any moderator action against your post. You are not breaking any forum rules, you are simply trying to be a martyr for a lost cause.

That is if he is even allowed to post here. It might distract from whatever it is The Izzet are supposed to be talking about.
Why do I see a Naruto Moment coming on: "Believe it!"
Hey you like what you like and thats fine. What I listen to music-wise, is what inspires and motivates me more than anything, and the same could be said for anything really.
Thank You. I appreciate that.
I think you'd definitely count as alumni, you've been here for a good amount of time as well. And I'm glad you don't feel out of the loop, you shouldn't, interject when necessary, ask questions, and give opposing opinions, that way we all learn.
I never really got into Ska, I always like that one song from the original Tony Hawk games, Superman by Goldfinger, but thats about it. I've always been a Metal Head, and a Rivet Head.
Any Idea what you plan on building next? I'm still developing a Skythirix EDH deck.
You're what we call "New Money." Welcome to the Club. Here's your complimentary levitating golf cart.
@Ravus & Weaver: I refuse to have this conversation in the Clan thread. I am sending you both PMs.
EDIT: Pheon and I (tentatively) are entering the CMB BYOS Tournament. We encourage everyone in the Clan to join. Hopefully one of us wins! Glory to the Firemind!
And I understand why you're sending PMs, but I also find irony in those initials... "PMs"...
Anyway, I'm sorry for flaming you right there, I shouldn't have, and will accept responsibility for my actions.
Now, on to the juicy ☺☺☺☺:
I understand why you want to keep this topic privately discussed between us three, but I disagree. I've recently become more the type of person who shares information with his friends, so here goes:
Thank you for humouring a raving lunatic,
-Ravus
I like how your conversation boosted the activity of the clan, but I really think that some of it should have been left to pms.
I can't speak for the rest of the members, but I was just fine by your conversation, but then again I have known you guys for a while.
TBH, I think that this conversation about your conversation is more awkward than anything else that was said, and I think you guys should have just dropped it a while ago.
Totally not my intention.
No prob.
Woohoo!
Indeed we are, i'm personally ecstatic about this tournament since byos is a ton of fun.
I'm sure AI would have, given different circumstances, loved to abuse me about possible card-tags in this post... lol!
I'll see y'all there
I find the conversation interesting, even if it doesn't concern me at all.

And you do contribute a fair amount to the clan.
I don't recall AI ever implying that Ravus was trying to usurp his leadership, but I agree with the rest of what you said.
Anyways, just came on to ask two questions:
1) How's everyone doing? Finals Week is almost over for most of us, best of luck to all of those still in finals mode.
2) Does anyone have experience with Memnarch EDH? I'm looking for some tips and any advice would be appreciated.
Ryan
Indeed.
I'm doing fine, good luck on the rest of your finals!
I thought he wasn't a legal general until recently, not many people should have experience with him.
My Mafia Stats - My Helpdesk
G Omnath, Locus of Mana U Arcum Dagsson BUG The Mimeoplasm GW Gaddock Teeg X Karn, Silver Golem
Karn is a very dangerous deck, one of my buddy runs it and everyone has to watch out because all of a sudden no one but the Karn player has any lands lol. Hopefully you'll get to add some cool stuff when Mirrodin Besieged comes out.
I'm interested in the clan competition. I have MWS now. I'll think about it. Didn't used to be insane when Metalworker was legal?

I have had a great success with Skittles, where I play EDH is quite competitive, so I don't have a power creep issue with him.
I've been playing it a a solid MBC deck, abusing infect and beating face with Skittles. I win 90% of games with Poison counters.
I don't usually use Worldslayer, its makes games seriously unfun and run waaaaaaaay too long...
Jitte, hammer, and The swords are always a good choice.
As for everything else: I'll PM it.
That seems like the sort of thing that'll get you hated out of the game.
Oh, well I didn't know about that, my store still has him on the banlist.
I haven't really played an artifact-based EDH deck yet, so I don't think I could give you many ideas on the subject.
Man, Karn has been getting a lot of love lately. He seems like a fun general to build though.
It's not a clan contest, but it is going to be a lot of fun. If you need some ideas for a deck, feel free to pm me.
Thank you.
Also, I thank everyone for their input, even and especially Ravus. This Clan is great because we value everyone's opinion, even if it is contrary to our own. That doesn't mean we don't try to influence each other, of course.
The one statement I have issues with is the following:
Thoughts?
Also, I reached another echelon:
Something to take your mind off of things I guess.
I hope this is true.
Let me know if and when you change your mind. It was nice to have you around despite our disagreements.
Also, I don't know why you expect any moderator action against your post. You are not breaking any forum rules, you are simply trying to be a martyr for a lost cause.
