Hey all. I just found out that I didn't make this a public pole for some reason. Really bad move on my part and I feel horrible for having to restart this, but it is an element that is needed. So apologies on my part. Those ten people that already voted if you could please vote again that would be great. Again sorry.

This is a vote for the Clan Member of the year for 2010. The folks listed are based on the nomination thread, and since there wasn't a landslide of nominations we figured it'd be fair enough to put everyone nominated up for a vote.
So come all to vote. I encourage everyone to follow up their vote with a response as to who you voted for and why. Make sure they know that their good deeds have been noticed. Warm fuzzy feelings for all and all that jazz.
The people to vote for are:
rianalnn
Castle
god of cyanide
Xanth
Sir Auron 25
Surging Chaos

I think rianalnn has done great things for this forum and is very deserving of recognition for his hard work. On the other hand, he's also doing his job. Personally I'm voting for Surging Chaos for the reasons outlined in the nomination thread, but rianalnn is a very close second in my book. Good luck to both of you two!
Also, of course voting for yourself should be allowed. The idea behind an award is to win it, and when you're in the running but vote for someone else, you are effectively acknowledging that you shouldn't win.
It's all in fun, I don't think it need be viewed as an admission that you consider yourself undeserving of the award, especially when it's disallowed Think of it as a community-building social experiment!
I have no problem acknowledging the effort these other fine folk have put in, & wouldn't mind losing to any of them

Aw, that's hardly fair. I wasn't a staff member when I started manhandling the Council & pushing contests through; it's hardly part of the job (despite my best efforts to rope in staff for just that).
Uhh my clan was to late to nominate me CURSE YOU TWICE SHINEN (Jking hardcore.) I voted SC for being a ally clan and he is an awesome person who works hard to have the second best clan

Next time you post popular opinions, please word them in such a way that they're not infractable. Someone may be widely thought to be the dullest tool in the shed, but you can't publicly call him that, which as a mod I can neither confirm nor deny that I fervently believe he's a tool.
When is the voting going to end? I'm just wondering because there's no time set to close the poll.
Another oops on my part. I'll make sure to have all my ducks in a row the next time I make a poll.
This poll will end this Sunday, the 6th of February. Been up fer a bit, I don't think anyone will complain about Sunday being made the deadline after the poll is made.

There were some votes from names I didn't recognize, so I looked into them. Found some with extremely low post counts and one, 1281381414, has a zero post count, though became a member round 07.
Near as I can tell these are not gimmicks, and any farther questioning on my part typically leads to needless drama so I'm inclined to leave it alone. But I wanted to run it by the community first and see what they think.

Can't you just screen their IPs? That pretty much should tell right away if it's a gimmick or not.

Near as I can tell thats not an issue. There's just something suspicious about someone with a zero post count voting. Folks having .01 PPD not much better. I'm inclined to let it be, but I want to know other opinions about that first. Am I correct in interpreting you and muffin's thoughts on this as a non-issue?

Some posters "age" gimmicks by making them and letting them sit idly for several months. I wouldn't be surprised if voting rigging occurred as a result of this.
A member since 2007 with 0 posts that votes in a clan member of the year contest is suspect.
EDIT: Vote rigging did occur, OH NO! MAN, re-animator, and 1281381414 are all the same person, and they all voted for god-of-cyanide. They all share the same registration IP.
Thank you kindly for the nomination, Weaver! You are correct, is indeed awesome.
I do not know enough of the charitable business of most of those in the running for the past semi-short while (I have been somewhat sidetracked from certain areas of the forums in the past few months), so I am going to trust rianalnn's judgment, whom I particularly remember being very democratic in his decision making process, and vote for whom he voted for.

I nominated goc, as I wanted him to get recognized for his hand in shepherding the subforum lost souls, but I voted for Sir Auron for organizing & reaching out via his Clan-community-wide tournament.

Oh dear. In my sleepiness I voted for god of cyanide when I meant to vote for Sir Auron.. Is there any way I can fix this mistake? My apologies, and I hope that you do not mind, god of cyanide.

Well if it helps your decision/opinion, I won't vote for myself on principle. I think it should be disallowed since its kinda unsportsmanlike.
