Retail sales is hard enough when you've got a location + solid customer base to begin with. Any door-to-door or back-of-the-van style sales job that pretends to be legit is just that - pretending. Still! It's always easier to get a job when you have a job. Good luck, Alacar.
I've finally gotten around to sticking a bit of my portfolio up in the Non-Magic-Art sub, please feel free to have a peek.
Hm, is late. Can I get a double mug of mocha with whip before close? Decent. . .
I got recruited by them in OREGON... and when I interviewed with them, they were based out of a warehouse, and none of the people were professional or anything, it totally felt like a scam.. I got the hell out of there quick.
Well, I've got some editing to do on a newsletter before a meeting at 9, so I better go do that... Coffee would be good too *goes to pour myself a cup from the never-ending supply in the kitchen*
EDIT: Oh and this may be a bit late, but here... *hands R a double mug of mocha with whipped cream*

Wow, rianalnn, in all honesty I think your work is outstanding. I love your style; I'm a bit too ignorant on art history to accurately describe it but I see alot of elements of impressionism (which is my all-time favorite style). It doesn't feel right to say it has abstract influences - they feel more "composed" than an abstraction, but I guess I'd say they're a little more chaotic-looking than classical impressionism. You really hit my taste right on the head.
The one criticism I'd make is that in the places where you have a more defined figure, to make them "pop" a bit more. Especially when it comes to human figures; it always bugs me when a figure is clearly distinguishable as human but doesn't really look like a human would. (That's just personal taste, though.) I think it would be very tricky to maintain your style but still leave the viewer with a sharper and clearer impression, if you will, of your foreground elements, but if you can pull it off I think it would look absolutely stunning.

Hey, thanks, Kraj, for the compliment + especially the constructive criticism. Both are always welcome, but I don't get a lot of the second
Double cheers for the impressionist compare - some good company there
I'm right with you on being able to 'pop out' certain elements; my illustrative skills are only just coming along (having finally desired + used fine-haired brushes has certainly enabled that end - a lot of the work you see is mainly fingerpainting), but at the same time, I don't always want a 'thing' to 100% be there, even if it is the focus of a piece. It's very interesting when something I pushed at is still easily overlooked, but something I didn't intend is quite clear. Quite often the more defined shapes, + especially the humanoid ones, are just happenstance; Oasis, with the almost-lips + jaw at the bottom, or the rearing unicorn in the middle, is a great instance of things that popped up that I deliberately chose to leave off well before they became clear. Half the time I just pick a colour + a viscosity + go at it, letting come what may. A lot of the fun in these (for me) is in the serendipity of the act, watching things mix as the water goes where it wants, + especially, hearing the weird things people find in what is really only splashes of colour, or hints at ideas, forms - hence the abstract label. Feels like illusion magic
If I thought I could get away with it, I would definitely do more blatant abstracts, but I'm poor + it's only a hobby, + there is little more depressing than 100s of hours of artwork stacked in a pile in the corner of a room getting in the road all the time
Man, that mocha was strong! blah blah art tl;dr etc
My only suggestion is the stellar Bloodbraid Elf for the above deck.
There's a reason my friend Kevin didn't stick with them long--not even for more than one appointment as far as I know. I should've talked to him about it.
I think the important thing is to not lose hope You'll find something
Meanwhile, my boyfriend shares your pain because he was supposed to stay at the job he's in now for the summer, so that he can graduate at the end of the summer, but apparently they can't afford to keep him on, so that means his last day is gonna be on May 29, that's this Friday... he's gonna need to find another job and quick, otherwise he won't be able to live financially for a while.. I let him know of a possible lead I had, so I'm hoping that pans out...
Tonight is a meeting from 6:30-8pm, so I'm not looking forward to staying here that late, but oh well, at least it's overtime pay and all that fun stuff...
I think its fair for me to say that anyone can jump in to do the legacy of the weeks but I always have matchup analysis in mine since my decks are usually tested quite a bit. I think you should include a matchup analysis next time since well my main purpose of the legacy of the weeks were to educate people in here that don't really play legacy. Not to mention, I also haven't really been working on anything as of late taking Calculus and Chemistry requires a ton of time studying. I mean yeah, my last four days off from school i studied a total of 46 hours so no time for legacy there. (Keep in mind that I am not mad.)
That said, I need to get back to my studies soon have a good one everyone. See you all later.
-is still healing bad she bummed him out- Hey I am still hoping my book makes it big so he can be a stay at home assistant. AKA...he plays WoW with me and makes sure I actually work on the second book. LOL. Loves you Alacar, you will find a job soon, I knows it.
In other news, this Friday, Alacar and I are planning on going MTG geek shopping. We need more people to play the game with. He is using me as bait ROFL.
Aww thanks babe. I'll be alright though. I hope we do well at this week's FNM. I'm even borrowing some of your awesome cards to make a T2 deck with. I've got enough for an extended deck, methinks. Of course it'll require me to take apart some or all of my current decks but it might be worth it.
Hey Sephiroth! Good to see you! It's been a while. Glad to see you're still around a bit. Working hard is always good. As for WoW... Daidream and I broke our addiction but we've been feeling the itch again.. Welcome back
As for me, today I'm building a T2 deck and an Extended deck for FNM tomorrow. Here's what I have for T2 so far.
I like the idea of a straight-up RG beats deck, Alacar. The thing that worries me about this build is there are a ton of 2-drops and then it doesn't have much to do past turn 3 or 4. Boartusk Liege is a big turn-4 play but you've only got 2 in the deck. You've also got 24 lands on a rather low mana curve, which seems unecessary and increases the problem of running out of threats. As much as I like Tattermung Maniac, I think there are just too many highly played 1-drops that make it useless, like Mogg Fanatic and Forgetender. I suggest swapping them for Wooly Thoctars, which make your three-drop slots much more impressive (Ziggaraut, Shrine, Pool, and Bloodbraid Elf all support it). Also, since you've got 6 mana sources that can produce black (assuming a Ziggaraut is on the baord with a Reflecting Pool), which means 2 or 3 of a higher-costing spell with black might be very useful, such as Broodmate Dragon or Bituminous Blast. If none of those suggestions are options for you, I suggest making room for two Runes of the Deus. Your opponent will need instant-speed removal or they will be in a world of hurt if you drop it on any of your creatures, especially Naya Hushblade.

As for you extended deck..do you mean Sword of Fire and ice? Is Squee just in there for the Looters and the Compulsive research? Might rethink that unless it just garners unlimited card advantage (or you play handsize matters cards like the Descendant of Kiyomaro or Martyr of Ashes?)
Welcome Seph. I can't believe you "left" because you thought the thread was boring...yet you spent all that time getting two of your WOW characters up to level 80. Tsk tsk tsk. Hypocrite
I still refuse to play that game on the grounds that if I did, I'd be sucked into a depressing addiction that only the Amish have the cure for. -_-
I played WoW for a bit.
The big turn off?
combat is pressing 1,1,1,2,1,1,3...

Yeah. Ice Beam is ridiculous. Except against Togetic/Togekiss. It'll still be super effective but at least he has some SDef to soak it up.
You die to ice and electric. Torterra won't get hit by electric but your flying and your psyduck will.
Oh... that says Togepi. Whoops.
Uh....Good luck!!!
There's a blue lion-like electric type. Pick him up. Him and torterra did it for me
