At least you have the insight to your own behaviour.
We went over to some friends' place last weekend, + they had made the same quiche. I think they are doing a gluten-free month or something, + so, brown rice crust. Also it is pretty tasty.
The recipe is here, except I hybrided it with the eggy portion of a quiche Lorraine, + I just mixed regular Parmesan cheese to the rice since I didn't prep up any tofu.
Cyan: I find the best way to cook asparagus is surprisingly in the mircrowave. Cook it in a dish with a little water and then just add some salt and butter.

I've never eaten Asparagus, nor have I gone to FNM.
I'm not very good at Magic rules, but am I mistaken here? I mean, state-based effects kills a person once they hit zero life, right? So the triggers/damage still on the stack never resolves?

Without analyzing the scenario you posted...yeah, state based effects kills the person.
I'm not a big asparagus fan...but then I have a bad habit of not going out of my way to buy veggies. I'm sure Blod'll have a solid cooking recipe for it though. Grill it with butter and see if that works.
Keep heart Nick. Things'll get better. Some things just take time. Afterall, You can't get a baby in one month by making nine women pregnant.

As for cooking asparagus, boiling or putting in the microwave makes me cry. The only vegetables that should ever be boiled are potatoes and artichokes. Asparagus is best lightly steamed until tender. Though I'm sure grilling or butter, or I would think olive oil would be even better, would be good.

I don't care what you high and mighty chefish people say, cooking things in the microwave is a legitimate strategy. Asparagus, broccoli, brussell sprouts, and baked potatoes all immediately come to mind as foods that are delicious if properly cooked in a microwave. As for not boiling vegetables, I implore you to try carrots, cabbage, okra, or green beans. Just because a microwave cooks a tv dinner doesn't mean it isn't capable of making something else delicious.

When you consider a microwave as a legitimate cooking strategy, you might be a red neck.
Actually Dux's family makes a killer batch of bacon through the microwave. I don't trust the microwave very much anymore though. Ever since I worked at arby's with a microwave that wouldn't turn off when you opened it...well everyone in the back line complained of headaches all the time...Probably worse than the deep fryer glove that had holes in the fingers.
@Blod....I'd really like to see you try eating Stinging nettle without boiling it first. Sure maybe it does lose some essential nutrients, it is still extremely healthy and downright painful otherwise.
Thistle is good raw. Seasonality was always hit or miss for me...gotta work on that...

Ahh, I hate food cooked in the microwave. It never, ever tastes as good as it does when cooked on/in a stove. I've tried so many things both ways, and the end result is always the same.
I don't have a vegetable steamer, unfortunately, so that's right out. Boiling is really the only option I have. I want to get one, because Talena loves veggies, especially steamed, but we don't currently have one, and it can't be considered a priority purchase.

That's what I thought; it was just starting to get irritating having someone basically call me a newb for being wrong when they were, in fact, the one who had it wrong. Welcome to the new breed of user/player, I guess.:rollout:
As far as microwave cooking...I admit that the food doesn't taste nearly as good as it does if cooked in a normal way. I typically cook things in the microwave simply because I usually forget I am cooking if I use the stove.
Thinking back, I'm hard pressed to remember when I used my microwave last for something other than reheating some rice.
Nick, you might want to think about getting a rice cooker. $20 (a mere 1/3 of your winnings this week) will get you something that will not only cook yummy rice, but will also steam veggies. How's that for awesome?

I actually want a rice cooker very badly, but I can't justify spending even 20 dollars on it right now. Or even 10. Things are bad right now. Good to know that the same thing can be used for steaming vegetables.
Blah, now I'm thinking about rice. When Chris and I went to Vegas for a PTQ about 2 years ago, his mom made shrimp fried rice, it was really great.
I also have good news, I've been asked to interview on Friday for a library casual position at the local

Hey, anyone know how many trees make a forest? Looking at you Blod with your arsenal of Global definitions. Would be useful to know this bit of trivia.
So I'm a sucker, a bit of a doormat at times. Seems I don't know how to just say no. Here's the scenario. There's this one gal who's taking two of the same classes as me. One day early in the semester she was having trouble on an assignment and asked me for help. To which I had no problem assisting. Well as weeks progressed she kept coming to me for help, sometimes I knew the answer and sometimes I didn't, but somehow she got it into her head that I was more knowledgable than the TA and more aproachable than the professor (Who's one of the most optimistic and enthusiastic people I know). Before I knew it I was getting emails asking for assistance and requests for special meeting times where I can go over the problems. Now I step back and realize that somehow I've turned into a personal assistant to this gal at the cost of my own work...spending maybe 2 to 3 hours a week helping her. I've made up a slew of "I'm busy" excuses but she is persistant...I've even started working on the lab work in my office as opposed to the class. Bah! This gal is from india and english is her second language, but she speaks fine and is a PhD student to boot. I don't mind helping people...In fact I'm more than happy to assist folk, but this is a bit over the top. Meh, doesn't matter as there's only one lab left. I've got to work on being more acertive, but telling someone "no" when they ask for homework help seems a bit petty.
Cheers,

Hey, are any of you guys experienced w/ Photoshop? I'm trying to make something, but I don't know anything about photoshop, and can't seem to just work it out on my own.
I know a little photoshoping, but I'm no match for a god. O_O
Helped that girl for another hour today, but I was in a good mood so it didn't bother me. I think she doesn't like figuring things out for herself, or maybe she's not confident in her own choices. The class is just step by step plug and chug with little cognitive thought. Half my time helping this gal is just sitting and nodding as she asks "is this right" (it is usually right as she does know her stuff). The rest of the time is spent trying to answer subjective questions, like if a map projecting looks good. Weird....guess the gals just a perfectionist of sorts. The real irony is that the TA for the class is a bit apathetic at grading....She'll browse the stuff and if there's nothing glaring it'll get 100%.
I'm still watching the stock market....trying to learn the trade of security analyst, at least casually. Read "the intelligent investor," half way through, "essays from warren buffett", and I plan to buy and read "Security analysis" before I push forth a real investment. Reading stuff is all well and good but it isn't too practical. Doing is more useful but you need to put your money where your mouth is and I don't got that (money...I have a mouth). Plus it'll take at least five years to assess if an investment is actually a pass or fail...so imaginary investing as an educational tool would be idiotic unless I plan to wait five years.
I'm just struck at how stupid a lot of this is. There was no reason for the stocks to fall as badly as it did to reach the Low in march. Oh sure things were bad, but Fear drove things farther and everyone was selling off like rats fleeing a sinking ship. Then suddenly there was an upsurge with a five month rally and 50% gains...for no good reason. So now the news media is going on about how this "historically unheard of" gain can't be maintained and that there's potential for a crash. Sowing the seeds of fear. Such prevalent fear that if things start to go down, maybe a hundred or two back to back, there will be another run and another crash...for no good reason. I mean come on people...we had a "historically unheard of" run for 50% gains so we can be where we were ten years ago? Bah, I just hope the fear hits hard cause I could use bargain prices when I finally get money to buy into this thing.
In other news, I've been staring at false color satellite imagery way too long.
Cheers,
