I have no idea how Three Card Blind works, but we could figure it out. <_<
The way I read it is that you both start with the three cards you got, and then go one after the other?
I think Smallpox would be interesting. Do we need lands? I would: Nether Traitor, Nether Traitor, Smallpox. <_<

Yup. we need lands/mana prodcuing cards. I liked the previous deck Beherit suggested. Mutavault, Mana Leak, and shapphire mox.

Honestly, I couldn't care less about this clan contest. Three card blind just doesn't apeal to me. At all. So compete if you want, but I probably wont participate all that much.

Thanks to Zaph and spiderboy4 at High~Light Studios for the kick ass sig and amazing avvy.

I'm with Svogthir on this one. I am terrible at things like that. If you guys do decide to do it I will pop in for support and suggestions here and there. But as a warning, my advice probably isnt the best.

If this year's Clan of the Year race (assuming there is one, since I didn't see any stickies) is the same as last year's, I think we should join. At the very least, we get one free point into our pocket. Not a bad deal, in my opinion.
It's still not colorless, and has no color. That's a paradox. So either you're a Zen master or an idiot, I'll assume the Zen master for sake of argument. This card will have no paradoxes because it has a clear paradox. Deep stuff man.

I'm not going to bother, after hearing some very relevant ideas on the subject.. [/too cool]
Anyways, now that the spoiler is finished, we got yet another decent card, even if it doesn't really "serve us" as much as I'd hoped (cmon, Faerie Macabre? What a badass name).
Anyways, the great thing about Shadowmoor is that the best cards in the set are un/commons. That's so awesome, you have no idea. The only rares worth grabbing- the duals, a few chase ones here and there (nothing format defining though), and it's prety safe to say that Shadowmoor is NOT the set you want to buy a box, or even packs of. Future Sight, Lorwyn, and even Time Spiral offer much better cracking oppurtunities. This is definitely a set where you benefit from just purshasing the cards outright.
And also, kudos to black for being probably the best color in the set overall.
Well, at least the artwork of SM looks appealing.
But doesn't anybody get mad at the white board cleaner they made?
"Destroy all non-white creatures".
This just doesn't feel white in my opinion. Should have been a black card.

Either way, it's unplayable. So is Worldpurge. I truly don't get why they bothered with half the rares.
My buddy and I tried 2HG sealed at the prerelease today, and totally bombed. Apparently, a luck based format like sealed only gets worse x2... >_>
Still, I got my Oona, so I'm happy. I traded my buddy for his promo Demigod, so I have two now, but I can't tell whether I want a normal playset, or a playset of the Bondage *****. Because there can't be anything more humiliating to lose against.
Other than that, I got Twilight Shepherd, but nothing else that was rare worth anything. I got way to many junk rares.. I refuse to buy any more Shadowmoor!

The artwork is great, especially for the cinders, although that could mainly be that I have a preference for r/b hybrids after falling in love with my rakdos guildmages.
I'm a little mixed about corrupt though. As a casual MBC player, I have four copies of corrupt already, all of them 7th edition and in white borders. I don't like the new corrupts as much, but they're in black borders, so I don't know if I should try trading for the new ones (the orginals from Uza's are just plain ugly. No thank you.)
I'm fine with the new wrath. It's weaker than the orginal damnation, so I'm fine with it. Also, white, being the hypocrites they are, are rather xenophonic, so it makes sense they've salughter everyone for being less 'righteous' than them.
However, the 'comes into play tapped' drawback is really damning in my eyes. It'd be aweful to draw more than 2 in the early game. But what does everyone else think? Would you slide it into every deck or wait and see?
My question is, Leechridden Swamp. Auto include or no? It's a win condition by itself. It's also a swamp, so it plays well with corrupt and korlash, heir to blackblade.

I'm running 2 in my Korlash deck, since he basically tutors them for you, and they CIPT anyways. It's not the end of the world if you draw into them either, but if you can tutor both with Korlash, it's ideal. MBC lists (especially with Korlash) don't run many CIPT lands anyways. Or at all.
I quite like the new Corrupt art actually... I mean, the 7th art was actually worse than the US art imho. A hand of death ripping an elf off the ground is awesome.
Also, you guys have any ideas for block constructed? I think Rogues is supposed to be really good in block (go MBA!), competing with Faeries and Elves...

I don't know, maybe my art preferences are wierd. I just enjoy wacking people with a good burn spell from time to time.
I'm confused on block constructed. Is it Loywrn through Shadowmoor, or are we starting over again since Shadowmoor is a 'big' set?
Lorwyn and Shadowmoor are only separated for limited and draft purposes. They remain together for all formats. They are one in block. They also will rotate out together.
I'm torn between Phyrexian Totem and Tombstalker. Phyrexian Totem accelerates my mana, mitigate the effects of Smallpox, tramples, is immune from sorcery-speed removal, and draws flak away from The Rack and Bitterbloosom. On the other hand, Tombstalker synthesises well with Smallpox, flies, is a demon, can be used to weaken Tarmogoyf, doesn't require an 'upkeep' to stay online, draw flak (burn) away from me, and did I mention that it is a demon?
I don't know should I play Sygg, River Cutthroat or not. It seems good in the deck, as this deck can surely use a form of hand refill. On the other hand, it seems difficult to pull off the 3 damage needed without having your opponent with no cards in hand and you having The Rack in play (which in any case, you should be winning already).
Withered Wretch in the sideboard is more or less filler material, till I find something better to fill those spots.
All suggestions are welcomed, but keep it Mono-Black (after all this is the Clan Mono-Black thread.

Here's your replacement for the wretch: Faerie Macabre. Uncounterable, instant speed, surprise graveyard hate? that can be used as a creature if need be?? That's SICK.
Look into Dusk Urchins and Scarscale Ritual for card draw. They synergize well with each other, and the ritual can be used on your BB tokens to soften the impact it has. Another option could be Spiteful Visions. I love the card, as it puts your opponent on a clock while still filtering your deck. Combine this with the Rack and plenty of dicard (which you have), and you could be hitting for +5 per turn.
I wouldn't run smallpox with only 22 lands. If you up the land count to 24 or 25, sure, but not at 22. Chances of getting screwed are high.

Faerie Macabre is a good idea, however, I doubt this deck needs any more graveyard hate as 4 Extirpate is more or less enough.
22 lands and Smallpox does work, considering that this deck only requires 3 mana to function normally (4 to cast Damnations, but this can be easily done if I play a Phyrexian Totem), and 22 lands will give you approximately 3-4 lands by turn 4. I have no problem with my mana with this build, and Smallpox is too good in Monoblack Rack to pass out.
I like your suggestion of Dusk Urchins and Scarscale Ritual, but I have no idea what to take out for them. Suggestions?

I'd probably move the tombstalkers to the board along with either nameless inversion or two small pox, adding 3 of each. The end result would be:
"All these people having fun are playing for a gigantic 40000$ award, while I'm here sweating, players asking me stupid layer questions we all hate, and I'm thirsty.
Concerning Dusk Urchins and scarscale ritual, I have my doubts on them. I won't call them horrible, because they're not, but 'temporary' card draw isn't enough. What was great about arena or confidant was the fact they could sit there and continuesly draw cards the entire game. Granted, the ritual and the urchins don't cost life, just some mana and a body, but I feel a permanent way to draw cards is what black needs right now.
Of course, I haven't tested these either of these cards yet since Shadowmoor isn't released till this weekend and MWS hasn't been updated yet, so I'd love to be proven wrong.

There's always the wanna-be arena, Spiteful Visions. It's symetrical, sure, but it speeds up aggro clocks like you wouldn't believe it. Not good in MBC, but it might find a home in MBA or B/R aggro for sure. Also rapes opposing control decks that draw a lot of cards (I actually dropped this the turn before a suspended ancestral visions resolved... that was fun. :D)
