Well the point was I would tell you what I currently needed help with designing and you could have a go at it. Which is what the few previous posts regarding the Glean mechanic are about.
Ah, Ok then. Well, there was the Storyshredder Asp idea I had, but I'll make a couple more.

One thing about Glean, is it necessary to have these cards removed from the game? It's not like recursion could really abuse these and having it be removed from the game narrows the design space.
Storyshredder Asp - :1mana::symu::symg: Creature - Snake Shaman

Kraj you don't mind me incorporating glean into some of my CCF posts? I'm throwing track backs here so maybe it'll nab the set some extra attention/creative input.
EDIT: Ah, I see you mean Custom Cards Forum. I thought it was a particular game or something.
Well, considering the reaction you got in the thread where you posted it (ie., people don't know that the mechanic is specifically intended for an environment free of Dredge and so that's all they have to say about it), and the fact that the mechanics I'm posting in here are meant for R&D's involvement and feedback rather than everyone in custom cards, I'd rather you didn't.
The whole card name matters thing doesn't fit with Jupiter's themes - enchantment cards in the graveyard probably occur in masses though (Auras, enchantment creratures, the Seal-cycle (if still in)).
A good point, though that doesn't mean there isn't room for a cycle that cares about card name. Especially if the set includes a Followed Footsteps variant for enchantments, which I suddenly think it should.
I didn't get the "When cost is paid, you may pay cost. If you do"-complication, so putting everything in the glean cost should be fine.
I agree with that. There's definitely a possibility for extra effects tacked onto glean, but putting it all under one cost is much cleaner that a 'kicker glean', even if kicker-style does make it more flexible.

Fair enough; I guess I've just gotten a little carried away trying to incorporate it into card ideas where it definately doesn't belong in terms of Jupiter. However here are the ones that I feel could seriously be considered in Jupiter:
Letoz's Inspiration
Instant (C)
Draw a card.
Glean :1mana::symu: (When this card is put into a graveyard from anywhere you may pay :1mana::symu:. If you do, remove it from the game and draw a card.)

Glean 1B(When this card is put into a graveyard from anywhere you may pay 1B. If you do, remove it from the game and draw a card.)
The high price of Itzli's favor is only outweighed by that which his favor endows.
Thanks for the idea ZasZ234! ^^
Quetzalcoatl's PrestigeW
Sorcery (R)

Until end of turn, whenever a player draws a card, ~ deals one damage to each creature and each player.
Glean 1R(When this card is put into a graveyard from anywhere you may pay 1R. If you do, remove it from the game and draw a card.)
Tlatzepoc is undeniably mad; but many seek his madness as even the faintest impression of it is said to grant its bearer immense power.
-Changed effect to trigger off of anyone drawing a card.
@ZasZ234 - Agreed; though I think it might fit a bit better at instant speed; with perhaps slightly lessened dig depth...
More glean stuff;
Crushing Grakk1GG

2/3 Grakk's are known for two things; their ferocity and their numbers. Neither of which endears them to Tepozchan's other residents.
Should this just trigger off of going into the yard from play?
Tlatzepoc's Rage1R
Enchantment - Aura (C)
Enchant creature you control

Glean 1R(When this card is put into a graveyard from anywhere you may pay :1mana::symr:. If you do, remove it from the game and draw a card.) It is said that in these troubled times the only way for many of Tlatzepoc's cultists to harness his rage is to join him in death.
Noxious Yozli 2B

Whenever a player sacrifices a permanent, you may have target opponent lose one life. Yozli, once instrumental to the cycle of life, now instrumental in Tepozchan's imminent demise.
Yozli PurificationB
Sorcery (R)
Remove target players graveyard from the game.
Glean 0(When this card is put into a graveyard from anywhere you may pay 0. If you do, remove it from the game and draw a card.)
As an additional cost to glean ~, remove your graveyard from the game. And then there was nothing.
The flavor on the last one feels a little meh to me; It mostly came about as a way to do a Glean 0 that wasn't broken in dredge...
Hey guys. Just wanted to check in and say hi. I know its been a realy long time.... like 8 months. Thats cuz i have been overseas. I dont really keep up with the forums anymore, hence my lack of postage. I dont want you to think that i left you all [though that is kinda what i did]. How is set design going anyway?
ps. I'll only be checking in for the next week, and only a few times.
Since the clan mods seem to refuse to accept my notices that I'm not R&D clan rep, here's the most recent PM:

The Golden Rule of forums: If you're going to be rude, be right. If you might be wrong, be polite.
On a related note: I'm against alternative/additional costs for glean. Entirely.
You may think "Evoke — Sacrifice a Swamp" is great design and infinitely creative, but Wizards didn't have a single non-mana evoke cost. You know why? Because the block wasn't about evoke.
Now let me repeat myself in saying: Jupiter isn't about glean. See the similarities?
Thats fair; though I'd imagine the next time we seen Evoke (Timespiral 2: The Sequel?!) we'll see some alternate costs.
In light of that I can completely understand why you would not want to have alt costs in this block(?); Jupiter especially.
I think this is really cool, both mechanically and flavorfully. You could probably make it a 1/4 though, to account for it's drawback. Otherwise it's worse than Canopy Spider and also a little low on the curve for blue which can block flying and ground with a perk for 1 more.
-
I was also playing a little with hybrid and got this:
Order - 1:symgw::symwu: Creature - Incarnation
Whenever a player plays a black spell, put a creature token that's a copy of Order into play.
If a red source would deal damage to a creature named Order, prevent 1 of that damage.
1/2
Just curious Zas, what's up with the "Greetings" thing you always put at the end of a post? Any particular reason behind it?

I gotta say I love have Wizard's printed the same card (Cloud Spider) in mono-G with +2/+0 for 1 more...
Order is an interesting idea; but it just feels much to powerful, and as such some what uninteresting of, a form of color hate...
Hmm, not too sure. I was going to suggest it was in regards to the subtlety of blue and white and black playing off of that, but then I discovered white and black have more Shadow cards than blue did, so instead my guess is that it's because white and black could be most associated with light or lack of (hence shadow) and blue gets it because both are it's allies.
Um, I apologize if this is in the wrong spot, but I would be very interested in joining R&D. I am a dedicated You Make The Card fanatic, and have quite a bit of experience. Is there a spot in the clan for me?

May as well post it now,
Don't feel too stressed, either. Zas puts on a scary face (hence the "Greetings," so you know you are greeted,) but we're in need of new blood. We'd be glad to have you.
Excellent. I am a total YMtC freak (for more info, look at my profile on gleemax...) Hmm, let me search my design files for a few classics...
Wow, I had no idea this got so far down...
One of my favorite design ideas yet:
Forgotten Automatron2
Forgotten Artifact Creature-Golem
*/*+1
Forgotten Automatron's power is equal to the number of cards in your Removed-from-game zone. It's defense is equal to that number plus 1.
Forgotten Threshold 7-Remove Forgotten Automatron from the game. (If you have seven or more cards in your RFG zone, remove Forgotten Automatron from the game).
Another decent one...
Carrion devourer1B Creature-Zombie Horror 1/1
At the beginning of your upkeep, remove a card in your graveyard from the game or sacrifice Carrion devourer. If a creature card was removed from the game this way, carrion devourer gets +2/+2 until end of turn. If a zombie card was removed from the game this way, Carrion devourer gains fear until the end of the turn. Even the brainless zombies stay away from this cannibal.
A little fat has to be included as well, right?
Brightflame Angel 3RRWW Rare

Whenever Brightflame Angel deals combat damage to a creature, you may pay XX. If you do, deal X damage to each creature that shares a color with that creature. “Let the pure light of the brightflame sever the good from the evil.”

Just checking in. I've been busy lately and card creation has taken a back seat to the rest of life. Loved the Shadowmoor prerelease 2 weeks ago. Placed 17 out of 60, and price support stopped at 16. I'm not bitter... there were many guys with my record, a few got prize support(5 packs) the rest of us didn't. If only i didn't have to play a third game almost every round. 3 round wins 2 losses. How's it with everyone else. Looks like I have some reading to do.
Hey. Question? Am I a member here yet, or is that still waiting on something?

Not sure; Kraj seems to be taking a bit of a step back from his current position, though normally he'd be the one to ask.

Forgotten Threshold 7-Remove Forgotten Automatron from the game. (If you have seven or more cards in your RFG zone, remove Forgotten Automatron from the game).
Its a neat idea; though it deals extremely heavily in an aspect of the game that doesn't get much use; making the keywording of Forgotten Threshold somewhat dubious. Also defense should be toughness.
Carrion devourer :1mana::symb: Creature-Zombie Horror 1/1

The card feels a bit long to me; not sure if all the abilities would fit on a card. Very interesting abilities; though the second almost feels a bit overly complicated to me... Why not just let it deal its combat damage to all blocking creatures that share a color or something similar.
I would give my left leg for something that could allow my mac to use MWS... Sadly, the best thing I can get is lackey, and that doesn't help at all.

Today must be euphemism day - Kraj is listed as friend and not as a member since *looks* more than half a year (though he should be a honored friend at least - I guess he wasn't bold enough to put himself in that place), hence my question, whether we should have a clan leader a couple of days ago.
Also since Shadowfox left, we don't have a clan rep, as well IIRC (or has anyone volunteered following up?)
I think we should choose someone active to start a new clan thread, so the member list can be maintained, i. e. adding budget.
Also I wonder what's the state of Jupiter. We really need something to focus on as a clan.
---
On a 100% unrelated note: Anyone here using MWS? I just started to use it to play online, when no one is around to ask - seems useful to test custom cards. I wonder, why I never tried it before.
greetings
Z
Somehow I missed him leaving; I remembered him saying that he was stepping back some but I must have been away when he made that declaration.
Sounds good; we could try sending out a PM to all members and maybe a slightly modified one to all clan friends on this. Try to hold elections.
We ought to see what we have and try to finish it up; though I'd put this on hold till after we managed to work out the current situation. And even then I'm not sure if this (set building idea) should be the central focus of our guild...
Jah; though at this point it'd probably be better just to reestablish some chain of command and from there work on reestablishing everything...
I haven't heard anyone propose anything else - except for some blurry: "We could be the good spirit of the ccc - everywhere and nowhere at the same time. Wooohoooh!"
It's not like I weren't already doing that on my own.
That is a really vague; to the degree of I'm not sure what exactly that would entail that most of us don't already do in some way or another. I'd imagine if your in a clan about Magic design you already have something of a presence in the ccc.
When it comes down to it we could just try to live up to our Clan blurb:
R&D is a clan for anyone who enjoys Magic design. This thread is a place where members and friends can chat about design, get help on their design ideas from experienced designers, and just enjoy hanging out in general.
And focus on being a place of active discussion; perhaps taking up topics from recent CCC threads, etc.
Either way I think we need to start by drumming up interest from current members; as currently activity over here is pretty slow...
Hey guys, there is going to be a clan contest starting tonight that should be right up you ally. It's a card creation contest so go ahead and pick a clan rep even if it's only temporary.

Enchantment (U)
Whenever a player sacrifices a permanent, you may have target opponent lose one life.
Yozli, once instrumental to the cycle of life, now instrumental in Tepozchan's imminent demise.
Yozli Purification B
Sorcery (R)
Remove target players graveyard from the game.
Glean 0 (When this card is put into a graveyard from anywhere you may pay 0. If you do, remove it from the game and draw a card.)
As an additional cost to glean ~, remove your graveyard from the game.
And then there was nothing.
The flavor on the last one feels a little meh to me; It mostly came about as a way to do a Glean 0 that wasn't broken in dredge...

She knows why.
In light of that I can completely understand why you would not want to have alt costs in this block(?); Jupiter especially.

I was also playing a little with hybrid and got this:
Order - 1:symgw::symwu:
Creature - Incarnation
Whenever a player plays a black spell, put a creature token that's a copy of Order into play.
If a red source would deal damage to a creature named Order, prevent 1 of that damage.

Just curious Zas, what's up with the "Greetings" thing you always put at the end of a post? Any particular reason behind it?
Order is an interesting idea; but it just feels much to powerful, and as such some what uninteresting of, a form of color hate...

Don't feel too stressed, either. Zas puts on a scary face (hence the "Greetings," so you know you are greeted,) but we're in need of new blood. We'd be glad to have you.

Wow, I had no idea this got so far down...
One of my favorite design ideas yet:
Forgotten Automatron 2
Forgotten Artifact Creature-Golem
*/*+1
Carrion devourer 1B
Creature-Zombie Horror
1/1
At the beginning of your upkeep, remove a card in your graveyard from the game or sacrifice Carrion devourer. If a creature card was removed from the game this way, carrion devourer gets +2/+2 until end of turn. If a zombie card was removed from the game this way, Carrion devourer gains fear until the end of the turn.
Even the brainless zombies stay away from this cannibal.
A little fat has to be included as well, right?
Brightflame Angel 3RRWW
Rare
Creature-Angel
5/3
Flying, Haste
Whenever Brightflame Angel deals combat damage to a player, that player skips his next attack phase.
Whenever Brightflame Angel deals combat damage to a creature, you may pay XX. If you do, deal X damage to each creature that shares a color with that creature.
“Let the pure light of the brightflame sever the good from the evil.”

Its a neat idea; though it deals extremely heavily in an aspect of the game that doesn't get much use; making the keywording of Forgotten Threshold somewhat dubious. Also defense should be toughness.
Neat idea; the upkeep feels a bit all over the place to me but its makes for a pretty awesome card.
The card feels a bit long to me; not sure if all the abilities would fit on a card. Very interesting abilities; though the second almost feels a bit overly complicated to me... Why not just let it deal its combat damage to all blocking creatures that share a color or something similar.

Also welcome BPC!

When it comes down to it we could just try to live up to our Clan blurb:
And focus on being a place of active discussion; perhaps taking up topics from recent CCC threads, etc.
Either way I think we need to start by drumming up interest from current members; as currently activity over here is pretty slow...
