So I'll definitely have to join the "please reprint Tarmogoyf" camp every time a new set comes out.
I, being the MtGO Shark I am, discovered Tarmogoyf pretty early, and ordered several playsets of them (4) for $10 per playset. Yeah, I felt pretty good a week after, when Goyf went from $3 to $10, and then to $15, and onwards. I made some good money there, you might say... Now Goyfs are like $45. That means $42.50 profit per Tarmogoyf, and with 16 Goyfs, that means $680 profit. Go me! Time to unload, perhaps?
And yeah, this was a ridiculous brag post. If you wondered.

I got 8 at 3$ each. Traded 4 away when they were at 25. Kept the other 4 because I was playing green. I traded away the other 4 about a month ago for about 40 each, because they're rotating out in about 4 months, and they will lose a little in value.

I doubt they will lose in a great deal of value... the reason being is that they are still good in 3 out of 5 major formats...
Goyf in Vintage = not so great, but playable
Goyf in Legacy = has an entire deck built around it
Goyf in Extended = see legacy, but not as powerful
Goyf in Block = should be in every deck
Goyf in standard = rotating out in a few months
So pretty much it will still see some play in the formats that matter for it. So I imagine the price will stay around 30 or 40 dollars, though it won't be around 50 dollars as it has been. But it will still be expensive as all hell.

@DalconCledwin: The thing is, standard is by far the most played constructed format. I'm willing to guess that it's played more than every other sanctioned constructed format combined... That makes the standard rotation a bigger hit to its value than if all formats were equally popular. I'm not saying it'll lose terribly much, but the rotation means more than many seem to think. That is at least my view.
@budget player cadet: Well, it's too bad he got banned. By the way, hoho, is IhsantheCursed from the forum in your signature the same IhsantheCursed I think of? He was a member of this forum 2 1/2-3 years ago, when I was in the clan Golgari (Dust Elemental was his nick I think). He flamed everyone and got kicked from the clan, joined Rakdos, changed nick to IhsantheCursed, continued to flame around "on behalf of his clan", and got banned from the forum If it is he, I hope he has learned to behave And say hi from his clanmate from long ago :xd:
No, he's still the same dickwipe as ever, albeit only worse.

I am honestly waiting for someone to put Tarmogoyf in Goblins in Legacy, O wait.....:sneaky:.....too bad I cant play in the MWS tournament this time...:sneaky:.

The thing is, the reason that Goyf is so high in price, is not because it is playable in standard... rather it is because it is playable in the two eternal formats. It is one of the few newer cards that can boast that, and as such, it effectively got a really high price tag. I mean sure, even if he were banned in Legacy and restricted in Vintage, I am sure he might still have a reasonably high price tag (at least until he rotates out of Standard) then I imagine his price tag would drop so low it would be unregisterable. The thing is, that he is not banned in Legacy, nor is he restricted in Vintage... which makes him really powerful. And he is actually rather cheap when it comes to vintage cards.

I don't have any hard numbers on this, but I'm targeted more often than a black guy driving a beat-up sedan with a broken tail-light and no license plate, and Cy's well aware of that.

make that a 3 way competition, i've got my own vintage accomplishments, including 3rd at scg's day 2, numerous t8's and wins (i've won 12 pieces of power over the years, along w/ numerous random other things, shops, bazaars, libraries, etc...)
Let the challenge begin!!!

@YuanTi: Welcome! Nice to see "old" Shatter-members...
And as for Vintage... It should be post restrictions, otherwise it would make no sense. One needs to practice the actual format. I would have attended the tournament, but I can't, as I don't have my own computer at the moment (it crashed and I have to buy a new harddisk, which I haven't done yet). Hence my dropping from the MtGS Championship when I was in 4th place... I have never played a game of Vintage, though, but I'm think I could do ok.
I don't play much Legacy either, except when I tested for Worlds with my buddy who was going. Here is his list, it's pretty interesting, and he went 3-2:
Little did he see it coming.
I beat the man 2-0 in legacy. He was playing TES, and I played... dun dun dun! ALUREN!
Love it.
Then we played vintage. I played my old ****** version of manaless ichorid and he played oath. I had a fatal number of creatures on the board. He oathed out Platinum Angel T_T
We didn't play a second game.
He played fairly well though, he was usually a turn or two away from winning before I won.

The deck isn't built around it. It had werebear, just goyf happened to be considerably bigger than a 4/4. >_>

As for Vintage, nope... I'm pretty much exclusively a Type II player... It's like, my obsession and I don't quite understand why.
Which will it be? Legacy? Vintage? Standard?

I don't know anything about Legacy, so that's glurman's turf. I claim the Vintage throne, however, in spite of glurman's title.

Heh. You and Glurman should have a duel for that title. Would be rather cool to read the MWS logs.
