Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.
And ethersphere, welcoming me this morning isn't exactly late when I only started posting here yesterday.
@Alacar: Thanks for posting that song. I'm not sure how much I like it as a song (it's quite interesting but I'm usually not a fan of things as jumpy and fast as a lot of the stuff in there), but it definitely seems like it would be nuts to play on Guitar Hero. Why do I get the feeling that half of that song would make some of the harder solos on GH2 look really easy?
@Mr. Stuff: Good luck with the job application. I don't know the specifics on the Japan thing to really say much about it, but it's really too bad to hear that you've been having trouble with real life. Stupid real life.
Well, I've recently been pursuing a relationship with a girl from my school. Last night, we were having a discussion, and I brought the possibility of a date up. Apparently, she's friends with Carrie, and felt it would be betraying her friend to date me. I'm pretty much ready to join the priesthood now.
Anyway, on to the happy.
I'll be going over to a friend's house later today for a BBQ featuring my friend's dad's latest kill. Mmm, venison.
Welcome Krashbot. I hope you stick around for a while.
Aapparently, I was being pranked by two of my friends and this girl. Damn. I was completely blind-sided there.

You're welcome. All of Dragonforce's songs sound like that: I call it 'Epic Speed Metal', but it's hard to classify.
As for the difficulty of the song itself: Take a look.
Anyways, I'm off to go catch a play for acting class..
good morning all just wanted to stop by and say hello I have a 8 hour shift later today and i hope it isnt going to be too long but its a good thing i have tommorrow and thanksgiving off. Oh by the way happy early thanksgiving everyone! Also if your traveling anywhere best wishes on your safe trip and back! I am going to try to get up another legacy of the week either before i head off to work or later tonight when i get back see you all soon.
You're welcome. All of Dragonforce's songs sound like that: I call it 'Epic Speed Metal', but it's hard to classify.

That is quite honestly mind boggling that anyone would be able to do that, and it does indeed look at least as hard as some of the harder solos from GH2 (which I already thought were insane).
As for the song itself, it's almost scary that the makers of Guitar Hero would put something that fast and that jumpy into the game. I guess they know there are plenty of people out there who will take it as a challenge and try to figure out how to play it, but it's still somewhat crazy.
@Zaphod: Lack of free time seems to have this habit of getting in the way of posting on MTGS. It can get a little annoying. I know first hand how bad it can get...I didn't even log on for about two months last spring thanks almost exclusively to a lack of free time.
Kristen, the girl, and I are talking right now. The whole thing was a ****** joke from two mutual friends that became a couple last night.
So thanks for the good lucks, but I don't really need them.
wow well I am glad you and kristen are talking and I think having good luck always helps even though you think you won't always need it you just never know these days. So goodluck to you and your relationship with Kristen.
anyhow i am probably going to get something to eat soon and probably head off to work in a little while. Have a good day everyone.
Bahh you got us you slick devil. Have fun with her!
Krash: Yeah, they included it as a super special bonus song so you don't have to tackle it in career mode--you unlock it and play an unmonitored (i.e., you can suck as much as you want) version during the credit roll, and then it's in your bonus list in all difficulties. It's considered the new 'holy grail' of GH.
Tuatha, regarding Beowulf: As for Angelina Jolie playing Grendel's mother, as long as Grendel is a tiny little Ethiopian kid, I don't see any problem with it.
that song is evil. I cannot fathom how they do it...I've tried playing it on easy and I died within the first 5 seconds.

Hi guys. My understanding is anyone can post here so I am going to come in, sit down, and possibly even relax, assuming that's okay?
At any rate, after seeing how you guys are pretty much sweeping and annihilating all of the forum award nominations, I figured I would come over here and read. It was a pretty worthwhile experience, I assure you. But as I was reading, I found a quote that I had seen earlier today that alarmed as much as it did the first time:
Quote from ethersphere »
I think the biggest qualifications for best member are "don't be a Gutter member and don't be a douche to anyone."
I was wondering if you could elaborate or explain why you feel this way, ethersphere. I would have PMed you on it, but several people here seemed to echo the comments so I figured I would ask you all as a whole. Thanks guys.
I'm spending the weekend up at college. No real reason to go home (I get to go home for Thanksgiving anyways), and I get to stay up until 5 AM playing poker with other people in my dorm. Also, I get some homework done.
Never played Guitar Hero 3, but have watched some people play Through the Fire and Flames on expert. That's just nuts; I could never do that.
always glad to have newcomers to the 'House, sorryguy. just look at me!
I have no clue what the gutter is, just that it exists and most mods have access to it...

@SorryGuy: I suspect the reason for that comment was the stigma the gutter seems to have. Over the past few years people outside of the gutter have had mainly bad experiences with members commonly associated with the gutter. The two that immediately come to mind for me are week 52 of the Weekly Sig & Avvy Contest and the entire 1-2 months of SYM after BB and KCW were banned (which, regardless of what it actually was, could easily have been interpreted as the entire gutter coming out and whining).
The gutter also seems to have a reputation of doing things like "rigging" voting for contests and awards (I have "rigging" in quotes because from a technical standpoint, it is almost never rigging the vote). This reputation by itself seems to have turned a lot of people against the gutter and the members commonly associated with it. In fact, it may be enough of a stigma for some to consider it when voting for things like best member.
Then again, I'm sure you already knew that. (The only reason I didn't just decide the last 10 minutes were a complete waste and scrap this post is because other people might be interested).
Anyway, I too would be interested in hearing some elaboration on that comment.
Did anyone else play in the Northeast Qualifier today (Well, yesterday)? If you did, what deck did you play?
For all those interested, I made top 8 and lost in the quarters to Faeries. Damn you Faeries, thwarting my plans.
I played a version of U/R aggro. Really good list. It was solid all day long, except vs. Mannequin, which plowed me. Though to be fair, his draws in the second game were absolutely retarded.
I played the U/R Sligh list played by Nickolay Potovin in the Day 2 GP Krakow coverage with some tweaks.
Don't hate me Fooly! I know that I said I was going to bring Counterbalance, but I couldn't muster up the courage to play it. I'm sorry. DON'T HIT ME! *Flinch*

I actually haven't played in any real life magic tournament for a long while the last time i played in a real life tournament was a legacy tournament but that was about like 4-5 months ago. I just dont have the time to play in those real life tournaments like i used to mainly because of my job. Although about 2-3 years from now I am planning on going to pharmacy tech school then working a couple of years then going back to school again to become a pharmacist. So obviously as i go on ill have less and less time to play magic even though ill still play casual every now and then.
Have a goodnight everyone and i am going to try to get up another legacy of the week either in this post or tommorrow. Have a good one everyone and sweetdreams. See you all soon.
Hey guys & gals. I left school early today with flu symptoms :(. I'm not entirely sure I've got it, but its an easy day and I haven't missed any other days of school this year, so why not right?
EDIT: Also, OMGOSDMFOASDFAMWEGASF!!! Gamefly is shipping me Mass Effect today! *shrieks like a little girl and faints*
I watched like over 10 episodes of the ghostbusters on youtube that was pretty cool and i remember she-ra as well what a cool animated series.
It was well done for an eighties' cartoon. The voice acting was better than I expected it to be upon revisiting, and the animation was decent quality with all things considered.
If I had known what cosplaying was as a kid, I would have dressed up as She-Ra all the freakin' time. Heck, I probably would now if I thought I wouldn't look ridiculous.
Quote from Mr. Stuff »
So, I'm back. It's been, what, near a week since I've posted here? For a number of reasons, I just felt like taking a break from the coffeehouse. It was just sort of slow-going when I left, and not a whole lot of real dialogue was going on.
Mhm. It seems like it's been that way for a while. Well, I'll talk to you, anyway.
A lot of things have been happened over the past week for me, and yet it feels like little has happened in some ways, because my injured pride has put a slow stopgate on attempts to find another job in Japan. Either that, or I'm afraid of failure, and wondering if going through that whole process again will be worth it. Strangely enough, or well, perhaps not so strangely given my predispositions, I've found inspiration in anime, and I feel like lately I've gotten some of my confidence back. It's funny how a shoujo show like Shugo Chara, which is basically a magical-girl show about finding your true self, can reveal simple truths that maybe the adult thought-process has become too rationalizing and convoluted to see. Though there's no real-life Amu to magically heal my negative heart, I can see that I need to do that for myself, and I've been working on it.
Perfect place to find inspiration. I actually get a great deal from that avenue. Sounds like a promising show, and that is kind of how it works out, right?
A boost of confidence does wonders, so let me know if we or I can give you one, too. Your future has a lot of potential to be confident in.

Also, HAHA Project A-ko! I watched that all the time when I was younger. That was when I thought shouting the name of your special attacks as you use them was the most awesome thing in the world.
I remember that show. That was pretty early anime exposure.
Ah, disguise kits. *sigh*

Aww, poor nugget. Rest and get better soon.
Good reason to get the day off while you're at it, though.
Quote from Tuatha »
Angelina Jolie as Grendel's mother really jars me, I'm going to say it, and I probably won't see the movie for that reason. Grendel and his mother both are supposed to be monstrous and semihuman in most of the versions I'm familiar with, so the casting mystifies me.
My grandmother has all four of the old Narnia movies. I loved them as a child, and they still charm me, despite the fact that the effects are obviously very dated.
Isn't she demihuman in the movie, with reptilian features?
Ah, the Wonderworks Narnia movies? Heh, that takes me back.

All that I yearn for, for richer or poorer, is to be the light that you see. All that I yearn for, for richer or poorer, is to be the peace that you feel. All that I yearn for, for richer or poorer, is to fill your heart on my own.
But the rainbow is an image of hope for many reasons, as it is a brilliant sight coming out of oftimes dismal weather.
Another hello to SorryGuy. Seems we're getting more attention this year, huh? I think some new members are good for the 'house right now since some of the more prolific regulars are MIA.
On the subject of the Gutter...
well, there isn't much I can say that hasn't already been said by Krash, but I'll try to elaborate. The majority (not all by any means) of the people I've met on the site who belong to the Gutter are the kind of people I would tell off regularly in real life. Let's just say that I don't enjoy snark or cynicism and I find them to be negative qualities in people. Add into that the presence of KCW and ButteBlues among others when I first joined and the right mess they all represented and the Gutter never really stood a chance in my eyes. I've always found the place to be distasteful because for everything I heard it was just a hidden forum where certain people could go to ***** endlessly about the "scum" in the forum proper. Maybe that's changed since certain events this last year or two but it doesn't even begin to persuade me to change my opinion. Not when I still see the people I associate with the term "guttersnipe" regularly posting and proving me right.
So that's pretty much it. That probably came off as a flaming mound of ignorance, but in any case it's my stance.
I loved He-Man and She-Ra both, but in the end He-Man won out because he was a guy and I thought the toys were much cooler. I mean come on, a skull mountain playset that lets you slime people? I was all about that action!
Hell, I even enjoyed the Masters of the Universe movie, despite Dolf Lungren being unbearable to look at.
I was never a big She-Ra fan - though that's probably because I loved He-Man, and so thought that She-Ra was just a ripoff.
Ha! She-Ra was totally her own deal. I mean, come on - she could even turn her sword into different tools like lassos. Blows Wonder Woman out of the water. It generally helped that she was a fantastic girl with magic powers. That'll usually be enough for me. Like I said, she was a role model.
Plus she had an awesome transformation sequence, and had a cool cadre. Like Glimmer. She was a bit . . . purple, but it didn't hurt. Her nifty powers more than made up for it, rendering her enthralling to a seven-year-old.
I remember Catra too. Ah, I loved her, the unscrupulous skank.
I should not be spending my work hours going through a website about 80s cartoons. Nor should I be able to remember most of the theme tunes.
Hee hee. I ran into "for the honor of love" the other day. She-Ra's primary theme song, on the other hand, was a jazzy 80's dance rhythm.
I wonder if the epithet "Princess of Power" ever haunts my mother's dreams. Lord knows I said her transformation catch phrase often enough.
