@Topher: Me too except I have a job now. Web-Deisgn. 10 an hour, doing it for a family friend, and I work about 15 hours a week. So I'm getting a new iPod soon.
Cuz I lost my old one, this one's getting engraved.
I have mediocre skill in web design... I built this website and made all the graphics for it. The best feature is the picture in the left corner that rotates when you click it.
BTW, the new contest theme sucks for those on dialup, because we have to hunt through artwork contest threads, but I'm pretty pleased with how mine turned out. I'll have to ask Craven if I can fix the accidental green blotch.
About webdesign: Yay! I've never bothered with HTML too much... I can only do these "simple pages"... framed pages with background are absolutely the top-notch I can do... >,>
So, as soon as you're finished, make sure to present it!
About iPod: You've lost an iPod, aww... sucky, but good to hear, that you'll have some portable music again... I'm sitting here (in UK) without any portable music device... and walk 'bout 1/2 hour to uni. It sucks.
@Losing iPod: Not really, it was 1st gen shuffle. And now my parents will let me get a new one. They wouldn't if I still had my old one. I'm getting it once my check clears, I think. Or after the next one maybe.
Hey guys! I'd really like to join this clan if that's ok. I've had PS for a couple years now, but started to actually use it just recently last year. I've improved dramatically, but there's always room for improvement.
Well, my name is Suki (just call me that even though it is not my real name) and I'd like to show you my recent work.
Mind to share the left picture? I recognize the right picture (by Blackeri, right? She does awesome stuff) - but not the rest...
EDIT: BTW, has anybody an opinion 'bout my sig/avy-combo? Just curious, since I need a bit of feedback, whether good or bad, especially seeing Topher/Krashbot/FPM/CharlieD's progresses.
Wow, a new avy for you, it looks fine. The sig needs work though. I'd make it less monotone, then work on making the two renders look less detached.
Well, that's far beyond my HTML-fu! And I know what WYSIWYG-editors do... - senseless bloat, so I'm sticking with not doing HTML
As an aside: Are you watching Ergo Proxy right now? (Hehe... I had a EP-themed avy/banner set waaay back - i.e. around mid-2006^^)
I was, yes. I just finished it the other day. Overall very good, but had a few episodes that were tripped out almost worse than Lain. I wish they'd explained a few things better as well.
@Ford
I don't know, I like Tirian's Sig. It's just small enough for it to work.
I, (like most/all of you) love to create my own cards using photoshop. I print em out and glue em on crappy commons to put in my cube for drafting etc, (usually like an invitational thing, but whatever).
Problem is, my cube is all foil (where possible), and the cards I make...aren't.
So the question is this. Is it possible to create foils in real life. I've seen your work in photoshop to display on a computer monitor, but can foils be made to print out and look like...well...foils?
I've searched the forum for threads on this, and so far all I can find is threads on have/want lists for foils, or foil creation in photoshop not intended to be printed. (But if there is already a thread for this, please direct me to it)

Even if there was, I wouldn't be able to tell you how, cuz Wizards would have a fit. But here's why you can't. The thing that makes the actual cards shiny, and makes the colors change in different angles of light is some special foil. The pictures we make only show what that foil does at some given angle.
Well, earlier today i did a banner which i quite liked:
and also a corresponding avy, and i really do like them, but this night i also turned on photoshop and I've done what i would maybe consider my best work ever! so sadly although i love the other banner, it has remained very little time in mysig...because i had to put this one:
Please do comment on it!:-)
@Char: I'm sorry, but i can't help you much i know the link to the tutorial of foiling cards in PS, but not for printing.
@Charlie: I did try doing kind of what you submitted for your entry, and i think the results are quite good.. please do comment, because i know you are incredibly good at this kind of thing...
I don't like the first one, the bleding by the collo is bad, and there's too much empty space. However, the second one is great.
I offer to the Clan a sacrifice (of sorts- the poster requesting the following banner disappeared :p)

ADD: Also- any GIMPers know how to change the order of multiple layers at once in the Layers Dialog? I've tried linking them (didn't work) but haven't yet tried any kind of Shift-Click to select them. The help files were silent on the subject.
I dig the color contrast/opposition or whatever. Is the whole border beveled? It kind of looks that way in the 'torch-light' but doesn't seem to run around the rest of it. Am I looking at it wrong?
The Border is a 2 px white stoke set to overlay, with a 1 px black border inside that. But, now that you mention it. I don't really like it. I think I change it.
Hey everyone. I'm Bitsy and I'd like to be your friend! I'm a casual Photoshopper and need a bit of help. Does anyone know where I can get some interesting filters? I know where to get textures and brushes but haven't found any good filters. I went to the Adobe Exchange but there wasn't anything there that I couldn't already do with the stuff I have.
Just find a really creepy looking image and run with it. Blood-covered roses, an eye protruding from a random body part (say, the back of someone's head) - something like that. I'd use this banner (below), but I made it some time ago, and it's not 450X150.
I use Gimp for animations. You just make a regular avatar, but the layers become the different frames of animation.
I definately like grey better red just seems to busy and round. Also, on the red, the really like kinda dull red dots all around just dont do anthing for me. And the grey banner is much more elegant.
Cuz I lost my old one, this one's getting engraved.

1. Make sure you have your layers dialogue open:
Dialogues --> Create New Dock --> Layers, Channels, and Paths
2. Take your starting layer and copy it a bunch of times:
Right-click on the layer in the layer dialogue. Hit Duplicate Layer. Repeat.
3. Edit the layers to make your animation.
4. Watch your animation in action:
Filters --> Animation --> Playback
5. Edit until you are content.
6. Optimize your animation for gif:
Filters --> Animation --> Optimize (For GIF)
7. Save your file:
Save As... --> Choose .gif --> When asked, hit "Save as Animation".
8. You're done.
1. Which one do you like better, the red or the grey?
2. What would you change about either, if anything?
Responses/feedback appreciated.
Grey:
Red:
I made both by hand with brushes.
