Oh, sorry...I forgot you were a french horn player. Sorry, but that's one of the only really awesome french horn parts I've ever heard.
BUT, if you can play Binary Sunset....then I'd think you're pretty much a great player, too.
Are you kidding? That was only a joke, lol
Really, I only played French Horn for the band, and that's only because when I was about 12 years old and started playing in the band, I confused a French Horn for a Trumpet. I told the teacher (thinking I meant a trumpet) that I wanted to play a french horn.
Damn confusing names

If you have any quote of yours, or a philisophical phrase you might say, I could put that in there too. To me, it makes it look better.
Oh, and should we have titles, or something? I kinda just created one for myself, and threw it in my banner...^_^;
Um ... Depends on what the banner is. The text has to fit the banner

Hey, sorry ive been absent. Ive been pretty sick with a sinus infection and the flu. thought I had strep throat but thank got i dont.
Anyway, I just posted in the Clan Council thread, and I will get a post up on the Clan HQ after I get the Clan Banner onto my photobucket account.
Ill be around more, now that I can get out of bed...
Please, accept that Magic costs money to play, and drop it. A playset of Baneslayers>playset of duals. New Jace>Force of Will. Etc... Not to mention, Legacy is so wide open, that it's easy to build a deck that can perform reasonably well without very many "money staples" at all.
Well thank GOD you didn't have anything like that, CDS. Glad you're alright.
My body hasn't really been agreeing with me lately either. That's all I'll say for the moment. You can figure the rest out in your minds.......or just not.

That's a funny story. That kinda happened to me when I was 9. I wanted to be in orchestra, but I was too shy to say which instrument I wanted to play. I wanted to play bass, but the teacher stuck a violin in my hand and said "Play." So I quickly changed when I realized what I was doing in 6th grade, and have played ever since. I was a little slow to realize that is wasn't the instrument I wanted to play.

And you said you wanted screamo stuff, right? I'll see what I can do.........As soon as my body starts agreeing.
Blah, Concert...4 days...we suck...Blah. It suck's that most the kids in band don't care, I don't really know why they're there. The standard for making it in should be higher or something, it's really embarrassing sounding the way we do on concerts. [End rant]
Good news though! I learned the solo to stricken, so that was cool. Then my band directer heard me practicing stuff in one of the practice rooms and he told me to join the jazz improv class right there, it was fun but I really really suck at improv. Any suggestions?

Cool cool, chubs. I like doing improv. The way I do it is whatever comes to mind. It's jazz, too, so jazz improv translates into no rules. The only rule I can think of is stay in the right key, and everything will be good. If you can't think of anything, just do a bunch of scales and arpeggios in random order, and it should be good.

my suggestions:
always be wary of what chords you're playing over. jazz likes to get into the extended chords (9/11/13), so knowing the chord changes helps. arpeggios (and triads) based on the notes of the chord should give you a "scale" to help you stay grounded. don't be afraid to "steal" licks and tricks from any style of music; there's a place for everything in jazz... oh, and don't forget the b5 (blue note) interval when playing in minor keys.
for practice, improv over the same piece(s) many times; you will develop and learn what sounds good to you. as with any musical endeavor, practice makes perfect!

I have been playing Bass Clarinet for five years. I also played violin for 4 years. I play mostly jazz pieces and our band pieces, but I have played some of Holst's Planets and some of the Lord of the Rings music. I love playing it and I'm the senior player this year, with two kids in year 9 below me.
I've only been playing bass for a few months, and I've been learning "Once Upon Your Dead Body" by Coheed and Cambria, my favourite band. However, I have tried other songs like Snow Patrol's "You're all I have" and Fall Out Boy's "A Little Less Sixteen Candles". It's a pretty fun instrument today.
Now, a topic of discussion: What's everyones favourite Musicals? I really like Grease and West Side Story, but The Lion King has to be my favourite. It's actually my favourite movie of all time. The instrumentals are my favourite songs from it, like "The King of Pride Rock" and "This land". I advise checking them out, they're pretty rad.
I also should mention that I did music theory for two years, and I hated it. I didn't mind the theory part, but I sucked at aural and hated the structured compositions we had to do.
i must say..., this is a very cool idea
im already in the image crafters... so friend me up
i play alot... music is pretty much my life...
so:
Percussion, Trombone, Trumpet (not very well), Tuba, Valve Trombone, Euphonium, Piano, Accoustic/Rhythem Guitar, Slide Guitar, and im rather handy with a Roland Synth (sorta like a keyboard... but trippier...you can alter sound and mix and stuff) and Vocals (lead singer for two of my three bands)
is that 'nough to be a friend
cheers guys
@Charlie D... Theory is so... boring... but in the long run its completely worth it... i compose stuff (if i can figure out how, i might post some?) and without theory id be screwed...
@EmoZitro: im 16... but ive been playing piano since i was 7ish... it if you could pick up a bass and play it, thats pure talent... in no way are you a n00b haha... ive been trying to figure out bass forever... its so wierd in comparison to an electric... im self taught in guitar too... i had one lesson where i learnt to play amazing grace i thought screw it, and tought myself.

Yeah, all the instruments I've learned, I've taught myself too, but then on a couple I took lessons about a year or two later to get some better techniques.
And for the jazz thing, I'm fine with the chord changes and everything and I know what notes sound good with other chords, but I can't play JAZZ!. I think I've been playing too much rock or something because no matter how hard I try I can't make anything sound jazzy and when it comes close to it it sounds pretty crappy(Not meant to rythme)
Hmm, my favorite musical would probably be Phantom of the Opera (prolly because we played it when we had a good band my freshman year and it was amazing) so I may be a little biased. And then the same year we went to NY to see it on broadway, good year.

if you can get hold of any background tracks, like, Base, rhythem guitar and drums for anything jazz, get the chords and just PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE... i played Trombone with my junior high school band... we got the Gold Award at the provincial competition... but none of us could improve worth ****... so a couple days before the concert, our teacher said to take home some of the tapes of the song, and just practice along with the chords.... it helped so much
i suggest you try it
you'll get used to the Jazz beat soon enough... it takes getting used to if you are used to rock, metal or Shred... but it will come, i guarantee it
Hey, I was just wondering if I could join your clan. Music is pretty much all I do, so I might as well.
I've been playing the drums for... I dunno, like, a while. I just took up the guitar and harmonica, and I like those a lot better. I'm no good at them yet, but I aspire to be. That's mostly what I'm focusing on lately.
I like all types of rock music, from classic to punk to indie to grunge to metal, as well as a little folk-type. I'm just getting into the worlds of jazz and blues, but they are fascinating worlds indeed. I barely know where to start! I like blues a lot, at least what I've listened to. Robert Johnson totally rules.
I also got an entomb in the trade, I was pretty happy.
I play DDR.
That'd a pretty good trade. I tested TEPS today for the first time. Excellent deck.
Looking through my parent's LPs, they actually have:
Grease
Cats
Phantom of the Opera
Starlight Express
Evita
Requiem
as well as:
ABBA
like 6 Neil Diamond ones
Loius Armstrong
John Denver in perfect condition, case and everything
Switched-On Bach (This is amazing, perfect condition, the first LP of synthesiser use. Friggin rad.)
And others. I was stoked! Too bad our player stopped working like 6 years ago.
Cubas! You seem to have 3 clans in your sig allready, are you a member to any or friends. In addition, if you aren't are you planning on being a friend or a member?
@CharlieD: You MUST get GH 2. It was probably invented because someone was bored with DDR and was like hey, lets make this for your fingers but cooler. It's really an awesome game.

I need a new harmonica. I blew out some of the reeds on my old one and then, despite my best efforts to play it anyway, I lost the little bastard. I found this blues harp on the internet that costs, like, a hundred some odd dollars, but it's endorsed by all sorts of people whose names I don't even pretend to recognize as the best ****in' tin sandwhich this side of the sun. It's pretty sweet, custom made to order.
