New Topic. Christmas is coming. Everyone get their shopping done?
No, I haven't even bought a single present yet. But I don't worry too much, because I usually get most of my Christmas shopping done in a single day. I'm efficient.
I am yet to even think about what to get my parents... I'm thinking of getting Bull Durham (both my parents fav. movie) for the one I can't think of getting anything for, but I'm stuck on what to get the other...

Yep.
Didn't have to do much luckily.
The only things I asked for Christmas that NO ONE buys me socks and underwear AGAIN, and that I not hear anyone banging on my bedroom door to wake me up at 7AM because the ****ing tree has presents under it.
Sorry, working in a grocery store and knowing the number of platters, shrimp trays, fruit baskets, etc and mildly retarded people that come to get them make me dread Christmas as much as I'm supposed to look forward to it.
BTW, I'm back to spam up the boards again.

Alright, the clan contest is up. I am not exactly sure what we have to do yet considering the time requirements but I do know we have to make a deck. So, everyone should go look at the cards we have to work from and see what you all think.
I'm kind of eager to get cracking on this Sealed pool, it's a fun challenge. Loran is pretty good at this crap, so he should help. Just at first glance it looks like a kind of weak pool, but we do have some nice fliers, Tromp the Domains, and double Weatherseed Totem (:D). Not sure what else to do with it though.
"Hello! I've come to serenade you. I can't play guitar. I can't play this accordion either, but I thought it'd be less obvious."

Black looks good, imo. I don't know about the rest.
Limited? My Specialty! Lets remove the chaff, shall we?
(See above) Man thats a lot of playables.
Lets go color by color:
White:
Decent Weenies and such, and a solid aggro creature base (no amrou scouts), but no tricks and nothing amazing. Playable, but not overwhelming.
Blue:
5 cards, while playable, that arent worth splashing. Not playing blue.
Black:
Removal (even if assasinate and burial are limited in scope) plus some solid creatures. I'd like to play this if i could, though thers a possibliity we splash black for soot.
Red:
Fairly decent creature base but nothing overwhelming.
Green:
Tromp will be splashed for regardless of whether we play green or not. Green's nice, but not amazing (again).
Now lets cut out all sb cards and redo our pool.
White Amrou Seekers Benalish Cavalry Celestial Crusader Chronosavant Cloudchaser Kestrel (x2) Errant Doomsayers Flickering Spirit Gaze of Justice Gustcloak Cavalier Ivory Giant Resurrection Black Assassinate Cyclopean Giant (x2) Drudge Reavers Gorgon Recluse (x2) Magus of the Mirror Premature Burial Sengir Autocrat Skittering Monstrosity Strangling Soot Trespasser il-Vec Red Bogardan Rager (x2) Coal Stoker Conflagrate Flamecore Elemental (x2) Flowstone Channeler Ironclaw Buzzardiers Keldon Halberdier Sudden Shock Viashino Bladescout Green AEther Web (x3) Gemhide Sliver Nantuko Shaman Strength in Numbers (x2) Thallid Germinator (x2) Thrill of the Hunt Tromp the Domains Wormwood Dryad (x2)
I like black, and i want to play it. The question is whether we play it fully, or as a splash. I'd like to play all 3 removal spells, and monstrosity and the gorgons aint bad (nor is trespasser for the gorgons), so lets make black one main color.
Now White, while having nice weenies is meh, and red has some removal but is uninspiring. I'd go with Green, especially cuz those 2 weatherseed totems are VERY good.
Now We're GB, but we have to seriously think about splashing conflagrate or sudden shock.
So My deck so far: 1 Assassinate 2 Cyclopean Giant 1 Drudge Reavers 2 Gorgon Recluse 1 Magus of the Mirror
1 Premature Burial 1 Sengir Autocrat 1 Skittering Monstrosity 1 Strangling Soot 1 Trespasser il-Vec
12 Black Cards
3 AEther Web 1 Gemhide Sliver 1 Nantuko Shaman 2 Strength in Numbers 2 Thallid Germinator 1 Thrill of the Hunt 1 Tromp the Domains 2 Wormwood Dryad
2 Weatherseed Totem
15 Green cards (Totems included)
1 Sudden shock
1 Conflagrate
2 Red Cards.
Total Creatures: 15 +2 Totems.
29 Total Cards (Target=22-23
Now to eliminate. I like the aether webs, but there are too many options here. So out they go
-3 Aether Web
Out also go 1 thallid germinator. Its a mediocre card really
-1 Germinator
Out also one giant, which while being a nice cockroach, is double B for a mediocre Creature.
-1 Cyclopean Giant
Finally, i think sudden shock is a big enough splash, so lets remove conflagrate
-1 Conflagrate
With Gemhide we now have 2 red sources, plenty for our splash.

@Loran. Want to splash red? Foryisan Totem FTW. They are essentially red mana adders and can be a good creature with those gemhides out...just my 2 pence though.
Meh. Totem is okay but I was thinking make it two mountains for conflagration and better chances with Tromp and Soot. Although, I don't know, I haven't played any TS limited.
Also I take this to be our completive build but I still do not know what we are suppose to be building. It never really says in the Clan Contest and Xyre never answered me. I PMed him though, so we will see.

OUR CLAN CONTEST!
OUT!
And no, totem isnt really worthwhile. Its a meh creature when activated (4/4 trampler isnt that great, unlike the 5/3 trampling and immune to dying to combat damage (due to its ability putting it back in hand.) weatherseed)
Meanwhile, you'd be putting in more mana sources for a creature thats meh and i wouldnt splash for if it was 4R.
Foryisian totem is a meh creature. Weatherseed is REALLY good.
And yeah, maybe out the remaining thallid, and in the conflagrate as well, but im not sure. I like the red splash for soot, tromp, and sudden shock, but if we add conflagrate we'd need to probably drop a swamp for a mountain (not the worst imo)

Prismatic lens is an auto include in every non-blue sealed deck ever. (And most blue decks too.)
I'd cut cyclopean gaint for it so that we can cut a swamp for a forest and play to our strenghts. (2 weatherseed totem).
Sideboard out the Wormwood Dryads for geminator + cyclopian giant in relavant maches. (Opponent has no green or black).
Aether webs go in if the other player has blue or white.
Avoid Fate against removal heavy players (about half the time)
Krosan Grip
Molder
For a disenchant effect (or two)
Conflagrate isn't worth the splash unless you can flash it back (we can't), but would come in post board if there was a bunch of X/1s.
That look like all the side borading that would be needed.

Good analysis Ximbad but it may not matter. We apparently are not playing the decks, only building them. So as we nail down the last details on this one, anyone have an idea for the deck name? If it does end up going to Clan Voting that may matter.
Yay!
I'm going to Melbourne for three days. See everyone Monday.
