Five hundred posts? Oh boy... Well, you can add me, Omna, since I'm going to be sticking around for a good long time. Not sure who else you should add, though.
Speaking of Wii's, I'm wondering what's going on with mine. The payment went through on Wednesday, and the guy said he'd send a tracking number when he sent the thing, which SHOULD have been on Wednesday when he got the payment. However, I haven't heard from him since. Hmm....
Simply put; I will make a new thread when I leave for Christmas vacation. I'm still active, so I will be fulfilling my duties as CoffeeHouse Hostess... one of the only things I still get to do... And certainly Nai, I'll be sure to add you.
EDIT: Nai has been added, and kevin's title has been added as he requested, with slight modification.
Oh and Nai, you should know by now that 500 posts is a piece of cake
EDIT 2: Oh and Umgenni- I'm not sure if i've told you this before, but Ursula K. Leguin actually lives in the town near mine.... Ashland, Oregon Its an amazing place.... I've never actually met her but I know people who have. And also, if you guys are interested in a fun time, if you guys are in the USA... TNT Network is playing The Librarian and the Librarian 2 on either Saturday or Sunday night... Check em out...
EDIT 3 : Gonna go play Kingdom Hearts for a bit.... then maybe Chronotrigger.. see if i like it..
Kingdom Hearts rocks so much. And I know 500 posts is nothing, and I can't wait to really help make that possible in 19 days. I also can't wait to get one of those nifty cookies.
Kevin J. Anderson, the guy that works on the new Dune books, and who does a lot of fan fiction for Star Wars and others, lives about a mile and a half from my current house. Unfortunately I'm moving soon, so I can't say that much anymore.
Edit: Wow! Eggman is being more of a jerk than usual.
EDIT: Nai has been added, and kevin's title has been added as he requested, with slight modification.
And here I though you needed to have a title bestowed upon you for being famously cool.
BTW, I just noticed my favorite Coffeehouse card, Tea Snobbery (makes me laugh every time) has a typo! Time to pull out that "Evil Spelling Monkey" card I made a while back.

[16:23] Alacar Leoricar: maybe if you do it'll make the porn more meaningful
To Omna, first of all, normally this should be sent by PMs, but keep me on the list for the updates... I know I've said it before, but I wish to remain at least a member to what it was I once helped to create.
Hello again, everyone! There are a few of you who remember me, but I feel that I should reintroduce myself. I am Ryan, aka Arguas. I helped Omna set up this coffeehouse a long time ago...you've heard about me before, I assume. Well, thanksgiving break has almost ended, and I intended to stop by after I finished writing a script to be able to playtest my set in limited form. I would like to say hi to everyone again, and apologize for my blatant lack of activity on here. I'm trying to consistently make Dean's List in college at this point, and I know that I simply have chosen to do other things with my free time recently. However, I have several comments to make, and in my usual fashion I will address as many things as possible in convenient little windows ^_^.
(I actually took notes as I caught up on here ^_^)
I would like to offer my congratulations to Alacar for completing his block. I am well aware of how much time and energy goes into sets like this, and although, as many people have commented, some cards are on a power curve higher than a normal set, I am pleased with how well it seems to function, and I haven't found any blatant problems as of yet. In addition, I have read through the match of Omna vs. Yusuke. When it comes to her play and decisions, I would like to express that I couldn't be prouder of her, as she's grown so much as a Magic player, and continues to grow I'm still finding new things to teach her every time we play... although other things also happen that will be addressed in a later section. Anyway, congrats on Omna for making it to the semis!
Glad you managed to have fun at the Reel Big Fish concert. Sounds like it was a lot of fun
I join Omna, PurpleD, and Kai in the group that hasn't tried it... but I've seen it, and my apartment back at school is now in possession of one... which makes me quite happy
I'm really sorry to see that you were forced to drop from the tourney due to bad connections... I remember what things like that were like a few years ago, and it's really irritating. My hope is that you will eventually not have to worry about such things as that soon enough.
Of course WGU is played a lot... considering it has 3 incredibly broken and splashable power cards, one of which my name is attributed to Seriously, WGU in this format is aggressive and leads into combo as well, which is a very potent and dangerous combination.
I've seen it and it looks beautiful. However, I am mildly disappointed that Link is no longer lefty/ambi... and is instead righty. Also, on Sharpnel's comment, I noticed that a lot of my friends got a GCN eventually because they were looking forward to Twilight Princess... only to see it released first on another system. Oh well, at least Melee's been worth it
LOL, I still look forward to playing that one again I remember getting around halfway through, but I don't remember anything else besides the fact that I have the Master Sword. My friend also tried to start playing again over this break, and found it very difficult to just jump right back in... I wonder if I'll feel the same way? Oh well, Star Ocean 3 is still my current little obsession, and I'll probably keep going with that :-p
Always heard amazing things about both games... seems that some of you really like it. Tell me, when it gets released on the wii as downloadable, would you people say it's worth it?
Sounds to me like Nintendo may be hinting at catching "Secret Cow Level" fever :-p I wonder if they'd had recent contact with Blizzard... :-p
Around both Rochester and Massachusetts, it's been unseasonably warm the last couple of weeks... especially this week. We had a 60 degree night last night... beautiful to walk in
I couldn't help but notice that when most people are introducing themselves here, they are still following the procedures that are specified in the House Rules. Very happy to hear that ^_^.
PHOTON = QUISTIS?! Somehow it fits... Nice avvy, old friend.
I see that aspect of MTGSal still hasn't changed... somehow not surprised :-p
Void, that really sounds like it sucks hardcore... and it also sounds scary. Try playing Magic against someone face to face with one eye constantly open and see how they react :-p In all seriousness though, it's temporary right? Or at least tends to be?
KK, I've been to a BW3 before... I didn't mind it. What was particularly disgusting about that meal that you had?
Sorry if you felt like you were kind of insulted by the popular outcry to get your own username. But as you can see, our admin kind of stepped in about it... so, please continue to enjoy the friendly atmosphere here, and don't let something as small as different accounts keep you from this place
That takes care of the more recent stuff. However, I also have a few other things to talk about... First of all includes official business.
Before the last academic quarter, I was very involved in a lot of things in MTGSal. R&D, Clerk here, and clan rep for R&D. I kind of just dropped things without saying anything to pretty much anyone except a promise to return soon, and I am very sorry about that. I wasn't even here to find out about the monthly reports, and I know that, if I still have the duties as the clerk here, I should try to find time in my schedule to allot to such things. I will try to, but being that Omna's also been talking a lot about me, I wonder how many of you have a negative view of me now anyway...
My apology comes not only as failing as a representative of the coffeehouse, but also as a friend who is playing in the Den campaign. Once again, I pretty much dropped it without saying anything, although it's true that the situation wasn't completely under my control. I would like to speak with you about these things at some point when we both get the chance, but I would like to issue this apology to you for doing that to you, especially on something that you worked so hard to create.
My inactivity is largely based on the workload that I've had, and the knowledge that this place can, indeed, distract me a lot sometimes. Also, with Omna still being active here I wonder if you guys really are starting to think low of me... my last visit involved previewing Sanctuaries and that was pretty much it... unfortunately, work caught up to me, and my grades turned from 3 A's and B to 3 B's and an A before the quarter ended... making me just shy, again, of Dean's list. More on this later, but yea, I love you guys and everything, it's just that I've been trying to be careful and a good student too. I will try to be better about my duties and when I plan on not being on Salvation, but I'll make this once again a place I go when I have free time.
Finally, the stuff that is really not too important...
Thank you all for supporting Omna in what has been happening between us. As she has informed you, we are on the way towards separation... at least really for a time. We tried before, but I kind of sprung back for reasons that weren't really sufficient. In any case, I love her as my sister and my best friend... she has treated me well when we were dating, and on top of that has been a good friend, and a good student in Magic. However, what she is looking for is still something that I cannot give right now, and that is my love... I don't completely know why, but for some reason I just don't feel like that about her... I love to see her happy, which is probably the source of the spiral that is causing us both so much pain, but sometimes it also leads to my unhappiness, if that makes any sense... so, we're supposed to be going on a real break for the start of this quarter... And I know that, especially in the beginning, she will need help from you guys, as I am told that I cannot provide her with as much help as I've tried to give her in the past to try to cheer her up. I'm sorry for the drama and everything...
So on top of narrowly missing my academic goals, one of my trusted roommates and good friends has failed out of RIT... this very much saddens me, especially since we needed to immediately think about his replacement. He hopefully will be welcome at my apartment, The Answer (42) as often as he likes... I pray that everything works out for him as well... As for myself, I just need to make sure that I finish my Perl script as soon as I can.
So my gaming binge this break consisted of a LOT of Star Ocean: Till the End of Time. I also discovered Youtube, as Omna showed you before Before Thanksgiving itself, I managed to play a lot of Civilization IV and the computer game version of Diplomacy... Aaaahh... The gaming need has started to be fed again ^_^. However, I'm also writing a script that will read from my Sanctuaries File and print runs to generate booster packs, and print out little inserts for playtest cards... I still run free drafts on Friday nights in my apartment, and I really want to playtest my own set in draft form. However, I'm hitting a snag, and if anyone knows anything about Object Oriented Programming in Perl, PLEASE send me a PM
So there, my incredibly long post is done. Please feel free to ignore as much of it as you want, but I will repeat this again... if anyone knows anything about Object Oriented Programming in Perl, PLEASE send me a PM
So, good to see you all again, and I hope to remain here/return more often... *hugs all around*... as long as Hugatron is still not with us... (may he rest in peace...)
Well, Sylvia isn't here at the house right now. I came in the house after school today and found a note taped to my bedroom door. Apparently she had a dentist appointment today.
@sneaks: I understand. I think though, you are feeling as though that clairvoyuant is just a spare account for me. That is wrong. The account was originally created for my friend, Raechel, to use to get to know the place I like to be at while she stayed with me for awhile after her and her father got into a heated arguement (which ended with Raechel having a big bruise on the side of her cheek). I had decided not to throw it away seeing as I didn't know how so I just let it sit. Then, two of my siblings wanted to use it so they did. Then a few days ago they gave it up for my friend Sylvia who has come down to stay with me for awhile. I've let her use it and I assue you, sneaks, that she will be the last one to use it. If she ever decides to quit or leave, you may terminate it.
Also, a little cleary-cleary on the Sylvia situation which was brought up in her Intro thread.
I DO NOT actually live in South Korea. I just posted it as that cause I'd like to live there since that is part of my culture. That leads me to say that Sylvia is here with me in the U.S. Sylvia is Dutch-Italian (as she told me plus it's kinda obvious) and is a she.
I know that the account is going through changing owners, but I assire you that this is the last and only one now. If she leaves, the account is banished in all holy hell. If there is no way to delete it for good, I'll change the password to complete random numbers or something random and mixed.
Also, Raechel is no longer here so she will not know of this place anymore (in terms of not knowing what's going on here) and my bro and sis won't be on here anymore either.
Sorry for the confusion, if you have anymore questions then please pm me.
Glad you could stop in Ryan and fill us in. We don't think the less of you for your absence, quuite the opposite, as they say absinthe makes the heart grow fonder, or some such.
I will say a prayer for both of you in the coming weeks so that you can start next semester with all your college scheduling and financing troubles behind you.
@ UK: our visiting grad student from France via Poland used to get on the phone to his brother and say this a lot. His explanation was that it meant "ok" "good' or some such. Seemed to me it could be used to mean "good" as in "good food", and looks like I've missed. I am always open to learning how to properly use the various tidbits of other languages i pick up.
Arguas, while you were missed in your absence, you shouldn't feel as if MTGS is a responsibility; while it is a nice place to escape and chat, real life and real problems come first. If chilling off on MTGS a little is important for your grades, it should be a real priority, and not something you should feel bad about.
Obs on :symw::symu::symg: and other things in Acad block: Without revealing what I'm playing - I haven't had my first match yet - I have to say that the deck is brutal. Not only does it mop the floor with both of the combo decks I was so proud of, but it has a great game even against two decks I built specifically to counter it. (I know that playing against yourself isn't the hottest way to test, but it's the most convenient.) Omna is the most terrifying card, in my opinion; there are very, very few answers to that card in block. (Though there are cards that are far more terrifying in a vacuum, such as the BRG wish, which suffers from forcing you to play red in a block where red is painful painful painful.) If Arguas is also out, the number of options shrinks even more. There is one excellent answer in block if you can manage to resolve it, but the card has limited function against many other decks. The deck's matchup vs. control is helped by the fact that slower decks don't have access to any 'great finisher' along the lines of Koko, Yosei, Keiga, Meloku, etc.; all of the amazing 'unsolvable' creatures cost two mana. While it's probable that good answers exist, I struggled to find them. (Sparring construct is pretty good against just Omna, and also pretty good in general.)
Random Academy observation: Almost all of the pricey creatures that aren't really bad require you to discard cards to them to get any real use out of them. (The five sisters, Kyriel, and Kyriel's Masitcore. Jukar also has a similar drawback.)
Good to see you, Arguas! Hopefully I get to say, "Welcome back" and not "Nice of you to stop by"
I can't speak for everyone, especially the newer members who may have only heard Omna's side of things, but I'm confident no one here thinks any less of you.

@Ryan: Good to see you back again. I know it's kinda awkward to come back here after a long absence, but don't feel like this has to be a part of your life. As for the programming thing, I know nothing about that. And we don't think any less of you either.
I'm going to the Hillel House for dinner now so that I can get a good seat. Later.
I very much appreciate people giving me a hearty welcome back, and assuring me that none of you actually think less of me...
However, my big question is still unanswered, but perhaps I'm merely being a tad impatient... anyone here done OOP with Perl before?
Sorry... I dabble in HTML and Javascript, and I've had formal training in C++, Java, and Assembly Code, but I've never done anything in Perl. Wish I could be of more help.
Welcome back though.
In other news, it's the weekend! Yatta! Time to watch entirely too much anime. I might go shopping tomorrow, or might not, but hopefully I'll get most of Tsukuyomi MP watched - I'm on ep 6 of 24 right now.
@Omna: I'd like to be on the official member list, please :D.
@Arguas: I have to admit, because I am a new member and had never heard of you before, I did have some negative feelings about you just based on what Omna was saying (not that there was anything wrong with what she was saying, but when you only hear one side of a story...well, you know). But, after the post you made, I do not have those feelings anymore and I do respect you for saying that, although I do not know you still.
@Yukora: Glad you're feeling better.
@sneaks: I agree. Although from what I have heard, they would not do anything wrong, there is no reason, in my eyes, that they cannot use seperate accounts.
Oh, and there's nothing really going on in my life, except...IT'S FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance:.
I can tell you, Arguas, that though Omna has said a lot about your relationship with her (and, since I was having relationship problems too, I was reading what she said), they were never things that put you in a bad light, to my mind. They just said that there was a strain there because you both wanted a different thing out of the relationship. I do not think this is wrong, and wouldn't think less of you for it.
Also, with knowledge that you are one of the co-founders of the Coffeehouse, it would be awesome to see you around. I know how it is to be away from a place for a while and return (my experience? High school), but I think that most members here would welcome you back with open arms, and I would just welcome knowing you, since I haven't been here long enough to welcome you back.
On another note, time for one of my little rants, something that irritates me to no end.
"">I know that saying, "Say as I do, not do as I say", or however it goes, but it still annoys me. People say they will do something, and then do not do it, and I have to end up bugging them about it.
Now, don't get me wrong. I understand that, in some cases, other things prevail and that people can't always be speedy about it. However, when someone tells me that they'll do something, and I know that they don't have other things to do, and that 'promise' isn't fulfilled, I get agitated.
This specific one is the eBay transaction I went through. This was the first one I've done, and let me tell you, I'm not impressed. Starting two Wednesdays ago, we tried to buy a Wii on eBay. Well, first Paypal forced us to use a bank account and not a credit card, making us wait three days (until the Friday after Thanksgiving) to verify the account. Then, we made the payment on Friday. It wasn't until Wednesday that the payment 'cleared'.
Now, the current (and soon to be former) owner of this Wii is a college student. As a fellow college student, I understand that things can get hectic. However, he said that he would send the thing as soon as it cleared. I ALSO paid extra money for handling AND for two day shipping. So I expected that the guy would send it on Wednesday (when it cleared) and get it today. What I found is that he didn't do it, and when I emailed him today he had, apparently, JUST sent it.
Again, I can understand things getting hectic. What I don't like is that I paid the guy extra money for speedy delivery, and it took him two days (AND my prodding) to send it off.
Meh. Rant over.
Or, slightly over. Apparently, I won't get my system until this coming Tuesday. Two weeks for one transaction. Is there a reason people use eBay? "Not only will we increase the price by 100%, but you also will receive your goods later than you would have by simply buying from Amazon.com!"
Ya, I would have to say the g/w/u is very, very powerful in Block. And if it were standard legal, LLeywen's Guise (sp?) would be one of the most expensive and sought after cards in control.
@Arguas: Hiyo!
It's friday! Guess what that means? Partay!

So, if I may pimp myself for a moment, I came up with a rather quirky and cool design (I think) for the FCC. After my crash and burn performance in the GDS, I've been trying to improve on my innovation. In any case, check it out if you want. And I'd love some feedback on whether the effect makes sense when you read it.

It makes perfect sense, Kraj, but I don't think it's playable. While, yes, there are many cards that say "put the rest of the cards on the bottom of your library in any order", they are generally fetch cards, so I don't know why you would turn your, or your opponents, deck over. Generally, those are either the cards YOU don't want to have, or cards THEY know about, which doesn't help in either way.
While it is cool and quirky, I don't think it's a playable card, really.
That's my point; i'll start a new thread when i leave, that's the whole idea of what my above post said... what wasn't clear?

@Arguas: I have to admit, because I am a new member and had never heard of you before, I did have some negative feelings about you just based on what Omna was saying (not that there was anything wrong with what she was saying, but when you only hear one side of a story...well, you know). But, after the post you made, I do not have those feelings anymore and I do respect you for saying that, although I do not know you still.
@Yukora: Glad you're feeling better.
