And Writer's block? That's though. Try and write a text where you explain what you're doing to the clan. Maybe that can get you going on the real report...
Hmmm....okay. There's this plant I've never heard about before now, that's non-native and dominant, being treated with a treatment strategy I'm unfamiliar with...and results that I can't find other examples in the scientific literature. ...more detail...The United States Department of Agriculture's Forest Service lists it as an invasive species in several states, but the United States Department of Agriculture's Natural Resources Conservation Service basically lists it as harmless...with instructions how to plant it.
Actually, its one of those neat situations where old policy has come back to haunt us. The plant is called Weeping Lovegrass (it's a grass) and back in the 1930's we thought it was the greatest thing since sliced bread. It was the time of the dust bowl...just before and a bit during...that managers saw poor land management causing degraded rangeland and mass erosion. The feds had a program to search for a plant to save the day, they found four from Africa they figured'll do it...one being my plant. Well it worked...skip ahead 80 years later and the grasses brought back are invasive in areas causing a world of damage. New policy is to get rid of them. But as all things government there's no communication. One agency is talking about spending millions getting rid of them, the other agency is still planting it to prevent erosion. We like to do that sort of thing.
I gots to be careful or I start rambling on. I remember Dux used to catch me on AIM while I was working on a global vegetation project. Plants were on my mind... cause I tried to keep working while talking...so I'd ask dux what he thought about the plants in a section of Africa or Kazakhstan or whatever....yeah, I think he got annoyed with me.
But whatever, i still say those Olive trees in Portugal are invasive. You didn't have any until the Romans brought them some 3000 years ago. Restoration demands that you fix your land back to whatever it was back before those blasted Romans. (and don't get me started on Neanderthals)

Nope...but I'm working on it. The hard part is turning it into a narrative. My target audience is an average person with no knowledge of the topic. I need to catch their attention and get them to read the whole paper. Another hard part is remembering what is Rangeland specific jargon and whats not.
I do love Pine Trees, but they are an endangered species in Portugal because of eucalyptus running rampant and killing everything around them. Now, there's an invasive tree for you
Well you know...you could introduce those pines to some other place and have them be invasive there. Then you'll know that your pine is giving as good as it got. Try Australia...that place can't handle non-natives worth nothing.
My lunch got moved around in the fridge today. Took me a bit to find it...just above the several hundred laboratory vials of cow blood. The soda was somewhere back behind all of that. Breakroom table was covered with drying blood samples, but there was a good corner cleaned off where I could eat. Which reminds me...I probably aughta make sure all my fecal samples are out of that freezer...

No, I was like, .."Dude, Marattiopsida is a subgroup of Embryophytes if you follow the proposed Phylogenetic Tree of Plantae." Then Dagg started yelling at me about how the Phylogenetic Tree is bull****... But I remembered I work in an auto body shop & conceded due to my ignorance, even though I am right.
Mah computer's in the shop. Getting several expensive but awesome upgrades to help with livestreaming. I'm practically giddy with nerdy excitement to get it back and get to playing with it and seeing what it can do.
In the interim, I have my laptop on my desk with as many peripherals as I can get the bugger attached to. I'm damn near working a switchboard as I swap out usb devices based on what I am wanting to do.
Saw Django with mah lady. Great movie for those that like Tarantino's style. The soundtrack for it is insane as well, and it's been on a constant loop on my laptop.
I didn't know Django was out already, Tarantino ( A fellow Tennessee native ) has tackled most every genre but horror so far as I can tell. Or maybe Tarantino is just its own genre in itself.
So here is my final build for my PTQ tomorrow.
I hope it does well; but I'm tring to keep the mindset that my only expectation is to have fun.
I still don't like Watchwolf, but hey, if you're going for the fun factor, I think you'll be good. Just remember to watch out for Restoration Angel when you're attacking with them into 4 untapped mana...
Good luck for the PTQ.
As for my font color, I used to use Orange. People complained it was unreadable, so I changed to it. If you have any other suggestion, I'll gladly change....
The main reason for Watchwolf is (he is a 2 drop 3/3) I can hope for, Turn 1: Tap something for = BoP. Turn 2: = Watchwolf. Turn 3: Enchant Shield of the Oversoul & swing for 5/5 flying indestrutible. This is a long shot I know. But whoever I throw than enchantment on is gonna be buff reguardless.
Why you gotta hate the Watchwolf? He is friendly and wants to be loved. Would you suggest something other than him? If so I'd condsider it.

The Soundtracks for Tarantino movies are always insanely good ^^
What are you livestreaming, Yuks? Magic? Some other Stuff?
Also, it's getting crowded in the Called
That they are. I'm just a big fan of that back home, soulful southern style of music and this soundtrack is chocked full of it.
I'm streaming them vidja games on a site called twitch.tv. I broadcast video games I am playing and random internet peeps hang out and chat it up with me for a few hours. Doesn't sound like much, but it's a lot of fun. Been weird not doing it the past few days as my computer gets its improvements.
As far as fonts go, I hear the default we got here is pretty sexy
Kitchen Finks is better than Watch wolf. He is much more value for only 1 more mana.
Also if you have Kataki he is amazing in your sideboard.
I built a cheap Soul Sisters for modern and I'm loving it.
Ouch, I'm sorry to hear about that Dux. Never good to go in and get beat like that. You know, its probably because you took out the watchwolves...
What ended up beating you?
Hey Dux....do you have any innistrad foils you are willing to sell/trade/give away? I still need to complete my innistrad foil set...which I haven't looked at in over a year. 1/3rd complete last I checked. Would be a shame to let that go to waste.
Did I mention I got a Kindle for Christmas? ....if I didn't, then let me mention that I have a kindle. Does anyone know of any cheap or free sites that have books for download? I'm not looking for anything crooked this time, I just feel that its a bit exorbitant for a publisher to expect me to buy a digital book, that is only really leased to me, for the same price (or more) as a paper book. Sure they'll tell you that the paper and transportation doesn't cost much and that the cost is really in the marketing and the fees the retailers add....I call bull**** on that.
On a similar note...anyone have any good books they would recommend. Any book that you've enjoyed'll do.

Off to Sydney tomorrow for the GP, wish me luck! Playing Legacy tomorrow afternoon, then Day 1 on Saturday. If I don't make Day 2, I'm playing in the Vintage event. It's going to be an awesome weekend!
Go ahead and sign us up....I don't know if we will participate, but it might be fun. Finding songs isn't that hard either and I know we have folks who love music here.

GP weekend was a lot of fun, went 1-4 in Legacy, 3-3 in the GP, and 2-3 in Vintage. Such an amazing atmosphere. I picked up 4 Noble Hierarch and 2 Sylvan Library, and then a Force of Will today. I played Bant in Legacy tonight and went 2-2. It's been a good couple of days!
Wow, 1-4 in Legacy was kind of dissapointing, no?
Oh well, I guess it sucks to play Legacy without the appropriate card pool. Anyway, those new cards are setting you in the right track 3 more Force of Wills and you can start playing real decks
The important part of a GP is really to have fun. Enjoy the experience. If you get a good result, fantastic, but even if you don't, not all is lost
I have 2 Forces now.
I don't really understand you saying "appropriate card pool", since the deck I was running wasn't a budget deck - Dark Confidants, Lilianas, Wastelands, etc. You can be pretty condescending sometimes about Legacy... I know just as much as you do. I do play tournaments with 20+ people literally every week. I have played against every tiered deck in the format, and my mono-black deck has gone 4-0 in tournaments with 35 players.
@CharlieD, how did the matchups look in that tournament? I mean no offence, but I havent seen mono black control win in a Legacy event in a long time. Your deck seems optimized for what it is, but I wouldnt have thought it could winface or anyrhing. I'm also interested in what you ran in Modern and Vintage, (I may have missed that).
Also, why in the world did you ever stop using nipples in your guys's thread titles? Nipple threads, ftw.
Haha it's all good, I was tired and snappy! Sorry v
Ran Modern and a Vanguard tournament tonight, I am so tired! Is anybody playing in prereleases this weekend? I'm playing one on Saturday and that's it.
@digi: I played against MUD (by far my worst matchup), BUG control (also bad), BUG again, Doomsday (I won that one) and RUG Delver/Stiflenaught (I can beat RUG Delver pretty easily but I was totally taken by surprise by the Stiflenaught). I didn't play modern, the GP was sealed - my pool was nuts, I went Bant with an Armada Wurm, Deathrite, Precinct Captain and some good beaters, but sadly no removal. I could have had a decent Grixis control but I don't have the skill to build something like that well in sealed. In Vintage I played unpowered Dark Times.
Wait...there was a prerelease last weekend? Blast.....I think this "quitting magic" thing might actually stick for once. I haven't touched my cards in over a year.
Still, I think I do want to finish my Rock deck. I mean it's almost finished already, might as well get the 4 wastelands and ...at least two more $100 cards that I can't remember right now.
Been busy. My manuscript should be finished...finally. I really hope they don't send it back for revisions...I want to be done with it. I'll also be heading to Oklahoma by the end of the week. 17 hour drive...maybe Its far enough I should have flown...but flying is such a hastle.
Snowed today. Didn't expect that.

We have been having crazy weather. Insane storms and now floods.
Prerelease was fun, went 3-1 with Boros. I think my next standard deck will be RDW with a white splash. I can't see selesnya being any good in the format now. Might trade or sell my Sublime Archangels.
Legacy tonight. Picking up a 3rd Force of Will. Next thing I need is Vendilion Cliques and Zendikar fetches.
Edit 3/2/13 : Ugh, guys, am I the only one that checks this thread anymore? Are we dead?
pmed back... and the deck looks fun...

Legacy tonight. Picking up a 3rd Force of Will. Next thing I need is Vendilion Cliques and Zendikar fetches.
