I have started back at work now, it's tough with my hands all mangled-looking still... people keep asking me what happened and it's awkward trying to explain it without them thinking I'm some kind of contagious leper. Should be all cleared up in the next few days, though. Thankfully I have a weekend off work this weekend, so I can let it completely clear up.
@ Charlie, wow, 30 mouth ulcers....thats mean. Hope its not contagious. And congrats on becoming a moderator. I hope you don't eventually get promoted, become an administrator, then suddenly the weight of the stupid bogs your brain and overwhelms your senses to the point of increased inactivity in this clan. *Cough Yuks Cough Ria Coughs votan Cough*
Just got back from a few days of workshop. Fun stuff full of the latest rangeland info from long term monitoring on endangered species to the effect of poisonous plants on livestock. We also heard stories from old timers talking about the old timers in their day. On our field tour I even saw the biggest fricken cottonwood I've ever seen...seriously 36ft around and known as the largest man planted cottonwood in the US. Fun stuff.
The endangered plant stuff was particularly interesting. Just another example of plants that should never have been listed being listed and used as a club by environmental groups to threaten the lives of hard working Americans. One problem is that when the causes of a plant or animal's endangered status is listed, those causes are often just made up. Well, a mix of educated guess and assumptions, but it seems that more often than not those guesses are wrong.

@Daggs: That's pretty interesting stuff. Can't really say I'm truly interested in plant life, but I do like nature, and enjoy trail hikes every now and then. Pretty cool what you're doing though.
Also, I was recently in a local battle of the bands with a few friends of mine. We ended up coming in third place, which isn't too shabby I suppose.
It's a cover of One-A by illScarlett, and an original track.
Which one is you?
I used to carry a copy of Phantasy Star II with me everywhere. . . but mostly I stick to Nintendo products, with NES stuff like the original Castlevania, Legend of Kage, & Legend of Zelda being the things I play repeatedly. . . the boys can't get enough of Rampage & of course, Super Mario Bros. I also listen to these guys all the time Otherwise I tend to drift back to the SNES Ogre Battle from time to time, or raise up some randoms on Pokémon Crystal.

Ah, but if you know plants then you can have some snackage on your hikes. I've been on hikes where along the way I eat some of what I find. Some are obvious, mounds of fresh raspberries, some are more subtle like a nice field of stinging nettle. Some licorice here, onions there, a dab of miners lettuce, ...quite a bounty at times. Works well with mushrooms too. I once had to tell a crew to take a ten minute break to collect mushrooms because they were too distracted by them to actually get any work done.
Of course if you miss identify a plant and eat the wrong one you might die...but what are the odds of that?
Been reading "Desert Solitaire" by Edward Abbey. The book has been praised as a champion of environmental thought; The Henry David Thoreau of the west. It was on sale on my kindle so I was curious about the background of environmentalism. I have my criticisms of course, but I thought the funniest thing was that he supports wilderness the same way the extreme gun right folks defend guns. Because one day you may need them to fight against the government. I didn't realize that environmentalists and gun rights were on the same page there. :p:D

That's a pretty good point though, I would love to eat some really fresh wildlife. The only thing I ever have eaten from the wild were chives that me and a childhood friend of mine used to steal from the neighbours backyard and eat during the summer.
I guess it would be beneficial if I brought a book of some kind when I go hiking next, just to identify plant life.
Sorry I haven't been around much, I've been so busy with the WMCQ weekend, work, getting ready for overseas...
I went 3-4 in the WMCQ with Selesnya Humans. It was a fun deck, but Junk Reanimator is a terrible matchup for me and I played against four on the day. I was doing well on 3-2 until I was paired against the guy that won the PTQ the previous day. Oh well.
I played Enchantress last night in Legacy for the first time in a long while. What a fun deck! I cut fetches and shocks and it is so much more consistent, somehow. I also bought a Spanish Replenish - $18! @___@
Are any of you playing Prereleases this weekend? I will probably play 3-5, depending on money.
I'm gonna try to play at one on Saturday, but that all depends on the wife! We'll see.....
Missed the WMCQ by 45 points...that's ok cuz I wasn't in town anyway. I'm gonna have to play a little more often in major events. Going to hit some PTQ's this season.

I went 3-1, 1-2-1, and 2-2 in my Prereleases. Got some nice stuff - happy to grab 2 Obzedat's Aid, 2 Plasm Capture and a Blood Baron of Vizkopa before they shoot up in price. Also got a Godless Shrine and a Skylasher. And that Voice of Resurgence thing.
DGM is a really fun limited format. I look forward to drafting it!
I leave for Europe on Saturday morning, so I will be MIA for around three weeks. I am super nervous but super excited.
I can think of two things wrong with the title of that movie/book!
David Lynch really brings out the complete headtrippy/goofiness of that book in his vision. The movie is totally whacked out.

Got a bed....but did camp out the other night. Went up on the Paria plateau with my dad. Just chilling and hiking one of the longest slot canyons in the world.
Other than that, not much. Still trying to revolutionize my mentality and image to something more respectable...well respectable for civilized life that is, Hens the bed. Next I'm gonna get drawers to separate the clean pile of laundry from the dirty pile...I even plan on folding the clothes too.
Baby steps....only five months into that new years resolution and I finally bought a bed and I ran once two weeks ago. That's something right?

Okay, I think I can do that... What do you mean by meaningful? Heartbroken, Action pact, or Deep stuff that is going on in my life? lol for stuff that just pertains to the conversation?
I meant stuff that actually contributes to the conversation. More doesn't always equal better. If you're prolific, be prolific, but we care for quality. Dt posts like once every full moon and we love that guy to death because every single one of his posts are masterpieces

Sorry I haven't been around. There is a lot to see in Stockholm. I've been to about ten museums, drunk a lot of beer, seen a lot of squirrels. I'll try to keep y'all updated!

Good directors to be fond of. Kubrick in particular is one of my all time favourites, along with Tarantino and Peter Jackson of course.
