(PS. jomafro did something crazy in the cheese thread. We might need to team up to stop him or something.)
Crazier than that maze? Maybe. But that solution from Wheat was just epicly amazing.
I'm hoping for a long and entertaining adventure story to read when I get bored.
Ahh, vacation's great. Just doing nothing, sleeping, fooling around. All. Day. Long. Sorry for not being around that much the last time - I have to make my last days if vacation count. The next vacation I take 2012 I'll be busy moving out from home and getting a place of my own. Speaking of which, I've been searching for suitable apartments and jobs in the city I want to live in.
Unfortunately, I have to work next week :/ But hey, that's the last 5 days of work this year.
Last five days of work? Up until the 23rd? That doesn't give much time for Christmas...
Crazy stuff happened while you were gone.
(Speaking of which... when a lot of activity happens in the clan while you're away, and then after returning, do people usually check the whole thing that happened while they've been gone, or only the last page or so?)
I only get the 23rd off because I took a floating holiday. I'll be working M-Th this week. And then T-F the week after the holiday. Being gainfully employed sucks sometimes.

@Magic Talk: I started around 7th edition playing it off and on when I can/have money. I remember my first foil/rare was Thorn Elemental.
And drafts around here cost 10-12$ Depending on how well the shop is doing/number of people showing up to the drafts. That usually includes prize support, a slice of pizza and a drink.
@Slavan: That's a nice wreath. And do you run/help run a shop? Or are you saying your shop as in the shop you play at? (I might be slightly off on both of these here)
@Kronik: Have fun on the rest of your vacation!
I wish I had vacation. It's been rather boring just sitting around playing video games all day. I know it sounds weird, but after a while it kind of gets old. I mean I do get new games and sometimes I do switch between PC and X-Box 360. It just isn't the same without actual human interaction though. I see that now. Though, thankfully I can go back to loathing about how I'm not home more when I start college in January.
@Aurora: A lot of times I just check the last 3 pages, Usually try to comment on that if I can (Even though most the time I feel like I'm missing out on half the conversation and might just be completely me).
About my own question, I typically check the whole thing, back from just before I left until the current post. I read everything that has happened.
@pet snake: I'd say that my new sketch and your sketch look quite different side-by-side... though I guess you had to show more scenery due to the Pirate month that was going on then.
I read to make sure there's nothing directed at me I need to reply to (also seeing what other people are up to). Then I decide I have nothing to say, and run off to the cheese thread. Or I have something to say, so I post here then go back to the cheese thread.
@pet snake: $10-12? That's awesome. They're $15 here with rather crappy prize support and no refreshments (unless you buy em from the store).

Speaking of last night's draft. I had a choice thrown to me. I'm in the 3rd pick of my second pack and had this choice: Tribute to Hunger, Brimstone Volley, and Rolling Temblor. I did not have any of the first two and knew that they wouldn't get back around to me. I had a deck full of a few smaller X/1 creatures and already had 1 Temblor. What would you pick? I ended up just taking the three out, shuffling them, and grabbing one at random (the Volley).
So I know very little about Innistrad, either the cards or the draft meta. Having prefaced with that, I think Brimstone Volley is by far the best card there. Tribute gives the option to your opponent, so is worst, Temblor is second because it can be a sweeper, but it's really damaging to your deck too, since it's X/1's. Volley is a decent removal spell, especially if you're attacking in (which is what X/1's love to do.)
@Drafting: My favorite limited format is Grand Draft (aka Anaconda). It uses the discontinued tournament packs, so you need to make repacks if you want to play it with recent sets. There are two main differences between Grand Draft and a regular Draft. Those being that you can swap out early picks later on, which becomes super useful since the other big change is that you have to draft your basic lands. Here is how it works if you want to try.
I recommend at least six players so that you can have plenty of basic land to go around.
Buy or build one tournament pack per player (3 Rare / 10 Uncommon / 32 Common / 5-6 Each basic land).
Each player starts with one pack, and drafting action goes pick, swap, pass.
-Pick: Draft a card as normal.
-Swap: You may exchange any number of your previous picks with an equal number of cards from the pack you are currently looking at.
-Pass: Hand off the pack as normal.
So each pick, your total number of cards goes up by one. About halfway through, you'll probably want to start picking up basic lands. But you don't have to worry too much if you start late and realize a couple other players are already scooping up the land you need because the swap rule exists to let you shift gears quickly. For instance, if you notice forests are dwindling, you can dump all your green cards for a pile of red stuff plus all the Mountains in a pack. Plus you'll get awesome pickings from people who abandon splashes or even whole colors. The drafting takes longer than a normal draft, but it essentially crams the deck building step into the draft so it isn't an absurd amount of extra time.
That sounds really cool! I may have to try that sometime. My group tends to do Group Game Drafts, where you draft 4 packs, and then have the Rumble Rule.
(Rumble Rule is that whenever you cause 20 loss of life through damage, you may choose a card from your sideboard and exile it face down. You may cast that card any time you could normally cast that card without paying its mana cost. It encourages picking up bombs out of color and making it less harsh to switch colors.
Oh no! That's not good....
@prereleases: I never go to prereleases. My local Magic shop is so freakin' stingy about their tournaments. For example, drafts are $5 plus the cost of the packs that you use. Prereleases are like $25. It's just stupid. The only DCI events I go to are the Standard Constructed, and that's because they're only $5.
Sealed was $25 here, but now it's $30, ever since Worldwake. At least in Worldwake they gave us awesome longboxes, though.
I think last summer or the summer before they had sealed which was like $20 or something, forgoing packs as prizes for playmats for the top 1 or 2 or something.
Packs are just ridiculously expensive around here. It's like $4 a pack.

Prereleases used to set me back $40, but then they dropped the price to $30. Then they have mini-prereleases through the day, which cost $20 if you played in the first tournament.

I want many Phelddagrifs.
Shouldn't be too hard. You can get them for as low as $0.29.
What about Questing Phelddagrif? Try $0.19. Or if you want, you can get the prerelease of that card. Hop you can read ancient Greek.

@Wheat_Grinder: About the cheese... I think me and Abby are handling it pretty well. Well, most of it anyways...
THE ROOM IS FILLING WITH WATER!
UPDATE: MandersHex said that the Mafia Clan Contest ended up being a draw due to tampering, so all participants got 5 points (but no one got the full 10). Do we know if that affects anything in the standings right now (given that we didn't participate)?
@Reading up: I read just about everything that goes on in the thread. If it's just quick conversation, then not so much.
@PetSnake: I run tournaments/help run the store during said tournaments. I also occasionally play at it as well.
@Wheat: The Volley probably is the strongest, which is what I was going for. However, I did see a couple of hexproof creatures floating around that could be useful. At that point, I was packing a good chunk of removal. I think, honestly, in the end, I would've been served a little better with the Tribute. There were a couple of time where I just couldn't burn out or destroy the single creature on the board. :/

@Slavan: That's fun. I've thought about wanting to run a shop (later in life), but there already a lot in my area and I probably wont be good at business management.
Writer's block? Like that thing Calvin invented (the really big block that you put on your desk so that you can't write there anymore)? Yeah, those things are kinda annoying...
Also, I notice more of you up there failed to follow instructions...
Have we submitted our list yet? I think we should submit it today, to avoid any last-minute arguments. According to my watch it expires tomorrow at 8:37 am. ET

[The Crafters] official entry has been sent to pinkfloyd!
I'm surprised more of you didn't want to see it before it was submitted, but that's okay. You'll be able to see the final version when pink gives the rundown of everyone's lists.
Kank, I pretty much feel the exact same way. Plus, I feel like a surprise!
Aurora, I just cannot be taught. Seriously. I've got a very sexy learning disability....Kank, what do I call it again?... (Apologies....I just watched this episode of Futurama last night, we've been working our way through it post haste. It helped relieve the stress of finals).

How many Phelddagrifs will you get? They sound difficult to obtain, given that Phelddagrif is a rare from an old set...
