Aside from the rarity upticks for Control Magic and Worldgorger Dragon (though understandable for a draft format), Eternal Masters is beginning to look a lot like Christmas. Good thing I've got a box preordered.

Having both Animate Dead and Worldgorger Dragon in the set seems... OK, maybe not really much of a thing because we are dealing with an uncommon and a mythic here.

And... Shaman of the Pack? That seems like a very recent card for this...

Also @DQ, in case you didn't read too far back: There was a bit of weird RP going on here (check back one page) due to a mysterious rift in the fourth wall, though that didn't last that long here.

The "storyline" explanation for Aurora's curse of the fourth wall is because she got affected after trying to get people to think she actually existed. The more well-known reason is because a real person needs to be able to do these, of course. (And of course, her jump requests need to be possible for more than a few people if she wants her followers to actually be able to follow them, which is why she usually asks for star jumps rather than straddle jumps, for example.)

$240 + tax? Same here. Pretty much straight retail (as the boxes presumably only have 24 packs each).

Also, yes, we did experience an odd spurt of RPing. And it's totally Glowworm's fault.

Yeah, of course Glowworm keeps trying to sneak her way into other threads that aren't about RP...

(But then again, if the other characters can't read these notes, they will never understand Aurora's curse... well, at least I think most of them would think of this as a curse, even though Aurora seems to still be having fun with it.)

@Eternal masters: I'm liking what I'm seeing so far. Lots of good reprint rares. I think it's about 50/50 so far with good rares to bad rares, 50/50 shot at getting at least the value of your pack isn't bad, plus there are a good uncommon slot reprints in so far too.

Holy ***** is eternal masters a cash grab! I really don't get the point of it? ;/ Ok, so it makes a lot of sense in MTGO, I guess it will
be fun to draft? But.... the real problem is, ok great, you're new player, you started in the last few years. Sure, force of will is cheaper,
wasteland, a few other staples. Then you goto buy duals... UGH... If anything this will increase the demand for vintage and legacy cards.
I just don't see the expense being justified. For a the price of a good legacy deck, I could buy a full carbon fiber mountain bike or spend a few
months in eastern europe. I just don't see the value anymore?

A mono-Mongoose deck? I suppose that could be a good idea... if there are enough mongooses going around the table.

Of course Rancor is a favorite classic, though we saw it last in the Duel Decks Anthologies, or in M12 if we look at less pricey things.

...But that makes us realize how long we've actually been playing Magic. I'm not really sure what I want from this set, aside from the main chase rares (of course it's hard to go wrong with more Wastelands, for example). The number of Modern-legal cards is quite a bit higher than I expected, and a lot of commons and uncommons are things we have some of already since quite a few of these have shown up in other sort-of recent products as well (Conspiracy, Commander decks, etc).


Also, one more thing - during Conspiracy 2 previews, I may have to stay away from this site for that time. Our playgroup wants to draft that set "blind", meaning without looking at spoilers, so it would be best to avoid seeing things by accident around here.

And as for other fun stuff, another season of American Ninja Warrior begins soon. Are any of you going to be on the show this time?

Yes, it basically is that, but still one of the most powerful lands out there (see Tectonic Edge).

As for ANW, today's show was the All-Star Special, taking some things to the extreme. Of course I watch the show as well, and everyone around here knows I don't have the physical competency required to do these.

Hm... what would a Ninja Warrior-style competition look like in the fictional world though? (How high would the Warped Wall have to be in this case? I also assume there would be a "No Flying" rule in place as well.)

sold my italian chain lightnings before the set and FoWs and deathrites, but otherwise doesn't hurt my collection's value too much.
Chain lightning seems like it will be fun as hell to play in draft? I mean, you might want to run red duals or certainly sideboard them
in against red players. Seems like a ton of strategy in this one but playing against blue is gonna be super annoying! FoW, Jace, Counterspell, daze, control magic,
hydroblast FoF, brainstorm.... How the hell do you not try to draft blue? UW control with wrath, balance, etc. or UB control with hymns, duress, tragic slip, tutor.. omg!
TBH, how do you resist money drafting this set?

Still mountain biking my ass off... Crashed hard twice on sunday on some downhill lol. Went over the handlebars once on a big jump. Broke my thumb and I am limping but heading out tomorrow
to do it again hahaha.
