Welcome to [The Crafters]!
We make, bake, play, sauté, write, delight, create, masticate, and everything else in between.
Whether it is an art project, photography, musical composition, creative writing, game of any kind, video production, anything that can possibly be eaten or imbibed, and absolutely anything in between that involves your creative juices flowing forth, this is the place for the sharing and discussion of such things.

ThatRedwood
{Official Brewmeister}
I'm ThatRedwood, I play mostly casual multiplayer these days. I like to brew beer and cook food. Sometimes I use the internet to talk to people. This is the first forum I found, so I started playing Magic to save me from the hassle of finding a different one.
Profession: Lab Tech working in Regeneration Biology.
Things I do:
-Cook and eat
-Play games of all sorts
-Draw things (pen/oil pastel/graphite, sometimes mixed)
-Fix dumpster furniture instead of buying furniture
-Freestyle spoken word (think a mix between Flobot's "No Handlebars" and Digable Planet's "Where I'm From", but without amazing music)
I'm Pat Redwood, so despite being a vulgar manchild on the internet, my screenname isn't actually a thinly veiled masturbation euphemism. My mom just named me masturbate. I guess I could answer to that, but I normally go by Pat.

Projects on my to-do list
-Build a cat tower for Trouble and Pounce de Lion
-Build a wall that is also a bookshelf (thinking stained cedar with a filigree backing so you can look through it to the other room)
-Brew beer (research is all done, I just need to get out and buy supplies)
Lasersharp
{Official Quizmaster of [The Crafters]}
I am a pianist (or should I say "Piano Man"?) of a female-fronted band that's also named Lasersharp. I have been writing compositions for solo piano for a while, but I am trying to get to start writing lyrics for my songs.
(Please note that, despite my attempts to hide my identity behind a fictional character in the past, I am male; the female part of Lasersharp is not on MTGS, although the female part will show up on my YouTube and Sporcle pages.)
And formerly known as:
Aurora Illumina
{Official Cruciverbalist and Puzzle Maker and co-official pianist/jumper}
I go by the pen name Aurora Illumina around here and other places, without revealing my real name or my identity.
My creative work comes in my musical compositions for piano, and also my crosswords (which have been quite popular on MTGS.) I'm not working yet, but I'll probably still be doing all my creative work in the future as well.
A few other random things can be found here. I don't really play Magic much anymore, but I still enjoy creating custom cards here and there and everywhere.
Moss_Elemental
My name is Marc, but you can call me Moss. I don't have a steady job, but I help others in their work. Basically, I'm a self-employed temp. I play games (including, of course, Magic,) I watch TV, especially the Comedy Network. As for my creative side, if you look at the games in Humor and Custom Cards, that's pretty much my creativity that I've put into writing.
pet snake
My nickname is pet snake (A nickname given to me in real life, long story I'll have to tell sometime) so it was a pretty easy pick to chose as an online nick. I'm 18 currently living in Florida, and trying to get into college for Computer Programming and Analysis. I enjoy paper magic when I get to play it and I'm hoping to play a bit more once I get into college. Other things I enjoy: Listening to music (occasionally playing), Cooking and drawing.
21(As of 2014); Dropout; Music Nerd; Been known to lurk the clan thread from time to time
As of 19 May 2017, currently 24 years old. Still playing magic, still crafting, still enjoying music. My favourite Crafter memory is everyone getting together to make the tale of the Avian Flew.
Wheat_Grinder
{Official Labyrinth Analyst}
Me username be Wheat Grinder, an' I'm a bit of a Melvin (meaning I enjoy elegant card design, if anyone doesn't know), so I like to create an' evaluate cards. I also like to imagine worlds with me mind; I've thought about writin' 'em down sometimes, but decided I prefer the concepts over commitin' to paper. Lastly, I do bake from time to time, mostly pizza, but also cookies and the like.
vligerdragon
{Official Knitter and co-official pianist/jumper}
I will answer to Dragon or Abby. I knit, write, draw random pictures (sometimes they're good, sometimes they're just silly doodles). Sometimes I cook, though more often I eat what other people cook (I do make a mean apple butter though). I turn wooden bowls and pens on the lathe (trying to get my lathe moved out of my dad's workshop and into my garage). I spend a lot of time either at home on the computer or at work on the computer or at the game store playing mediocre Magic.
Wessel (Absentee Feb 2014)
{Official Flying Dutchman}
I'm known on MTGS as Wessel, but my real name is Wessel. I hail from the beautiful country that is the Netherlands, which everyone should visit at least once in their life. I studied History at the University of Amsterdam, so I guess you could say I am a historian, although I don't really feel like one. My highest grade in high school was for Math, I know all about different countries in the world, and I enjoy discussing about any subject. I feel a lot more like a jack of all trades, master of none.
I enjoy reading, playing games and watching movies, provided it has a good written story. I hope one day I can make a living out of writing fiction (mainly in Dutch, just so that you won't be able to read it), but until then, I'm trying to become a teacher. Other pursuits I love to undertake are for example drawing, photographing and listening to music. I listen to a wide range of the musical spectrum, but some of my favorite composers/musicians include Bach, Fauré, Frank Sinatra, The Beatles, and David Bowie.
Stardust (Absentee Jan 2014)
My name is Stardust, and I have a problem. I have too many hobbies! I’m interested in way too many things so I never have enough time to excel at any of them, just get pretty good at all of them. It’s a good thing I don’t have a TV.
Music (singing included) is a big passion of mine, and my collection of instruments is my pride and joy. At the moment I have two guitars, a bass guitar, a ukulele, an accordion, a digital piano, a djembe, a tambourine, a quena, and a shaky egg, all of which I can play, though some better than others.
I also love to draw, paint (mostly Magic alters), write stories, and I do the odd craft now and then when I feel inspired to make something. Otherwise, most of my remaining time is spent with my wife and kids, researching arc welding for work, learning new things, enjoying the outdoors, and playing sports, board games or MTG.

Lord Grey
{Official Mad Sculptor and Tea Enthusiast}
[Editor's Note: Don't forget MINT CHIP :cookie:s!]
Username: Lord Grey
Title: Official Mad Sculptor and Tea Enthusiast
Profession: Retail associate
Talents/Interests: Sculpture, painting, mixed media, video games, trying out different foods and beverages (especially tea), listening to a wide variety of music, Magic: The Gathering (of course), participating in Quick Reply Games and my own ongoing story circle on these lovely forums.
For those of you who've been here awhile, I'm also "The MTGS User Formerly Known as GreyDeckWins". The "Grey" carried over as that is my favorite two-color combination and also helps convey my dual nature. Despite this strong affinity, I do occasionally dabble in those other three colors. I'm mainly a casual player but I do play at the local tourneys whenever I have the opportunity.
Dox Quaidly
{Official Cosplayer of The Crafters}
Yellow. I am DQ, aka Dox. I enjoy Magic, Pathfinder, dogs, zebras, purple and Marvel movies.
I love my Fiance more than anything else. I'm hoping to go back to college for an Accounting degree.
I love designing stuff: magic cards, RPG characters... I'm currently designing my own game. Think Type 4 mixed with Vanguard and some Planechase thrown in.
I have a weird sense of humor and, at least I think, am easy to get along with. You have yourself a wonderful day. :3
Formerly known as DakmorQueen:
Hi! I go by the name Nikki or DQ. I'm slightly insane, I like writing, making pretty clothes, designing Magic cards, anime, zebras, and being cold.
One day I hope to get my trilogy of books published and to basically do nothing for the rest of my life. I like tabletop games and music.
I hate cherries, tomatoes, angry people, and drama. (Though, I love acting)
I'm nice and I like making new friends, though I'm shy sometimes. Oh! I can also be scatterbrained and I'm cute! <3
Kahedron
Greetings, in most digital places I go by the name Kahedron; Kah is becoming accepted as the shortened form
Lead a mostly digital existence apart from reading where I am a staunch traditionalist.
Have been known to sporadically put pen to paper, usually to create background for RPG characters but haven't for some time.
Like Scavengers, avians and venomous reptiles, dislike non root vegetables and 'normal' people what ever normal is
Russian Alara
Name: Onar , I am a Russian American in Fl , with cerebral palsy , former Izzet rep 2012-2013 , admin of a site, moderator of a Russian Military forum, single. Occupation: Studying Musicology in the university of Jyväskylä. Used to study Chemistry, but changed over. Likely because I have a subconscious fear or ever getting a job. Hobbies: I make teh musics. Considering my occupation, this probably didn't come as a much of a surprise. I'm known as Blingley around some music forums of the internet. You probably haven't heard of me. I also play games, and watch movies, but don't we all? Oh, and fiddle around with some electronics projects.
Education: BA History, Minor in Int'l relations. Separate BA Multimedia design,
focus on game design and art.
Known Enemies: reality television, plein air painters, Hugs,

to make it taste "good", hipsters, small dogs, hybrid cars,
Nancy Grace, the Pope, a false "two party system" that isn't
in the Constitution, the New York Yankees, e-books, unreliable people,

Ayu
{Official Changeling}
Title: Changling of the Crafters otherwise known as Ayu :-).
Profession: Nothing at the moment but the *plan* is to go to Culinary school next year.
Interests:
-Comedy movies (particularly ones with Adam Sandler and Jim Carrey.)
-Love movies (I am a sucker for happy endings and happily ever afters.)
-Comedy stand ups (Gabriel Iglesias is my favorite.)
-I love anime! (Fairy Tail, Higurashi, Soul Eater, Claymore, Code Geass being among my favorites.)
I'm sorry, but I too don't like to reveal my real name and image. I almost universally am known as "Pichoro" and use the image shown as my avatar. In fact, I've never changed my avatar on any forum since taking this one on. I commonly refer to myself as "Pich" online.
I do reveal that I am a 27 year old male in Southern Ohio. I work as a Chemistry & Physics teacher by profession. For fun, I moderate forums and develop for MSE. I also enjoy playing lots of games and trying new foods. I also cook interesting things on occasion, but that's been happening much less since moving back in with my parents.
Online, I have been involved with Magic Set Editor since Summer 2006. For nearly 4 years, I've been officially developing MSE templates and moderating the MSE forums, and am now an administrator there. I also administrate the sister MSE forum, for storing templates. Here, I am a moderator for Magic Online General, Magic Software, Artwork, and all subforums of them.
I'm a terrible artist, but like playing with GIMP and other image editing programs. I own a Wacom Bamboo Pen, and make images that are out done by Kindergarteners in their art classes. I make a mean MSE template, though.
Lord of Doom (Absentee 2011)
I'm a bit offbeat, but I've made my rounds in various interests for many years now. Although I quit MTG a long time ago, I could never really separate myself from the entirety of my collection or the community that kept me so deep into the game. I've dabbled in building computers, competitive Counter-Strike, being an audiophile, and collecting watches and fountain pens. I'm a student at Franklin & Marshall with an intended major in Public Health and minor in Applied Mathematics. Nothing's off the table for discussion and I love talking to people.
inPhase (Absentee 2011)
Short bio: I'm an ex-geology and future environmental engineering student, living in beautiful Switzerland. My hobbies include cooking, games, sketching, Shadowrun RPG, converting and painting models for Warhammer 40k. Recently, I also started to make Magic card alters.
PandasRpeople2 (Absentee 2011)
I answer to Pandas, PRP2, or Jon (my real name). I'm 32, married, and work at a bindery. Overall I have four main, creatively oriented loves: writing (short stories mostly, although I have tried my hand at social commentary and theology/philosophy); playing board games with my wife (current favorite: Ticket to Ride); playing Magic as a compulsive rogue decker (winning's so much more fun to me when I win with something that no one sees coming); and listening to music (current favorites include Rammstein, Shiny Toy Guns and Rusted Root... my tastes range far and wide).
sephondk (Absentee 2011)
While I do create actively, none of my stuff is copyrighted as of now, therefore I sadly won't share it here. I am still young and haven't released anything yet as I'm very perfectionistic. I am a Dane who writes poetry, mostly in Danish, writes music, piano-based, draws, usually in something as weird as MSPaint and otherwise pencil-based. I also regularly design new games on my computer. I also design Magic cards regularly.
Zith (Absentee 2012)
I'm Chad, but respond in text to Zith just as fast these days. Currently, I bake for a cupcake shop turned dessert bar. Hobbies include dining, baking, board-gaming, film-watching, kite-flying, and straight shaving, with a more minor interest in maths, music, photography, and video games. Oh, I've begun adopting Australian English for no real reason, and I usually prefer the Oxford comma.
I go by A-Log in most places, but people on MTGS know me by Jomafro, Jo, or any mutilation of that name. (References to a hairstyle are frowned upon.)
I express my creativity mainly in the graphic design work that I do, which majorly shows up in the form of card alters.
Another one of my hobbies is solving Rubik's Cubes. I speedsolve as well as collect, and I currently have 36 various cubic puzzles. My current record is 17 seconds for a 3x3 Rubik's Cube.
My creative side spills out in my modifications, where I take the puzzles and saw, glue, and sculpt them into something they were never meant to be. I might get some pictures up soon.
I enjoy playing Magic with my friends in my spare time and posting on MTGS and am very active in the Quick Reply Games.
pi-ratical (Absentee 2012)
I'm pi-ratical, but I'll generally answer to pirat or Al. I enjoy drawing, cooking/baking, and woodworking but I generally support myself with the first of the three. At the moment I sell my artwork at anime conventions but I'm working with an eye towards sci-fi/fantasy illustration. I have a lot of hobbies but a brief list would be board games, tabletop rpgs, video games, and reading. I used to be a member of mtgSalvation years ago, and though I've since stopped playing for the most part I still have a lot of cards.
Talents/Interests:
Tattooing
Art
MTG
Cigars
Movies
Music
Comic Books
Cartoons/Movies of the 80's
A little about me:
I came up with the moniker "Alien Misprint" when I was a young teenager, basically because I thought it sounded cool. I use it for practically everything; my website, forum names, artwork signatures, author/creator of my flash/sketchbooks, etc.
I am a soldier and have been for over 13 years now. Although I do take great pride in and truly enjoy being a soldier, my real passion lies in tattooing. I am fairly new to MTG, I just started playing around the release of Core 2012, but I got hooked quick and hard.
Hi, my name is Frox and I'm a user at MTGSalvation. I am also a student and I am also an Ohioan. I wish I could tell you what my username meant but it's been so many years that I've just forgotten the meaning. I have many hobbies and interests:
-Eating
-Writing (used to be more creative but I'm better at research/article-type writing now)
-Movies (really into movies)
-Video games
-Graphic design
-Music (listening, playing guitar, fooling around in some composing programs)
-Watching TV (comedy)
-Entertaining people with my sense of humor
-All things basketball and baseball. Huge sports nut
I am a very opinionated person, especially in regards to sports and music, and a constant thinker. I am really not much of a nerd even though I post on a Magic forum. Oh, and I write raps, too.

Bob Arctor (Absentee 2012)
My name is Bob Arctor, but you can call me Chris if you are so inclined. I'm 29 years old, married and have two kids, and I currently live in Hawaii, but I'm originally from Minnesota. I'm known to be a bit obsessive-compulsive at times and have a lot of prescribed routines I have to follow, otherwise I'd never find my belongings again.
Profession: Airspace manager & air planner
Hobbies & interests:
- Sculpting
- Writing
- World-building
- Tabletop gaming
- Strategy games (board game and computer)
- Reading (Philip K. Dick, Robert Heinlein, Chuck Palahniuk, and anything remotely dystopian are my kind of thing);
- Sports (especially ice hockey and pro football)
- Free diving
Syphon (Banned 2013)
{Official Author and Quixotic Wonder}
I am Syphon. A real name? If I ever had one, I've long since forgotten it.
When I was created in the labs of some demented hobby scientist, it was clear that I was created with one reason only: to be a sub-par hobby monster.
I was made out of spare Warhammer bits as well as cutoffs from Magic cards (Homelands, that's why I love the set so much) and scraps of literature ranging from a page of Lovecraft to a Sparknotes summary of Paradise Lost.
Since all the materials used to built me were subpar, I'm not very good at painting Warhammer miniatures and playing or creating Magic cards. I have tried to get my act together and get my writing published, but as my contact never sent me the NDA he promised, I've been sitting on my ass writing random erotic fiction because I can.
Fakespeare (Absentee 2013)
{Official Clan Poet}
Hewwo there :3 This is Max Fakespeare Huang, 42nd reincarnation of ol' Will. I like to think of myself as a Victorian era gentleman, though most would say otherwise. I write poetry, fence (epee), play violin, religiously study art, mythology, history (usually not simultaneously)

You may refer to me as: Fakie, Fakes, Fakers, and/or any variants of Fakespeare

I'm 24, photographer, singer/songwriter, I've been playing magic for about ten years. I'm a laid back but crazy artist. Feel free to hit me up any time
Kronik (Absentee 2013)
{Official Ink Bearer}
Hi, I'm Kronik. My real name is Alkis, for I have greek origins. I like to cook, but I love to bake pies and tortes. When I'm not in the kitchen, I make up some alterations and new stuff of existing fantasy games like Warhammer, Magic and yes, Pokemon (the video games). And if I have nothing to think about, I enjoy watching movies. My favorites are the ones from Marvel and all sorts of fantasy movies.

If everyone would be so kind as to present a new synopsis/bio of who they are, what they like to be called, what they do for a living, and what gets their creativity flowing, I'll gladly paste that information into post #1.
Also, I'd love to be able to add a picture of each member (doing something creative if possible) to that bio. If you have a file or a picture that is too big to add as an attachment, I can easily host it for you on my underutilized web server.
I am the master of my own domain name after all!
New thread to fill with new news and new folk (as opposed to gnu folk I guess), Hooray!
I'm Pat Redwood, so despite being a vulgar manchild on the internet, my screenname isn't actually a thinly veiled masturbation euphemism. My mom just named me masturbate. I guess I could answer to that, but I normally go by Pat.
Profession: Lab Tech working in Regeneration Biology.
Things I do:
-Cook and eat
-Play games of all sorts
-Draw things (pen/oil pastel/graphite, sometimes mixed)
-Fix dumpster furniture instead of buying furniture
-Freestyle spoken word (think a mix between Flobot's "No Handlebars" and Digable Planet's "Where I'm From", but without amazing music)

-Build a cat tower for Trouble and Pounce de Lion
-Build a wall that is also a bookshelf (thinking stained cedar with a filigree backing so you can look through it to the other room)
-Brew beer (research is all done, I just need to get out and buy supplies)
@Aurora: Your crossword puzzle is amazing. I'm stoked to go back and do the others after this. Are you compiling them strictly for fun, or do you intend to publish at some point?
My crosswords? Right now I'm just doing it for fun, but I might actually try to go to the publisher stage sometime.
(Unfortunately I don't have any pics of myself, as I said I don't reveal my identity... unless... ?!?!?!)
I'm not surprised that there aren't any photos of Aurora. How can you photograph ephemera? I was thinking that we could get a sig banner made up of the team, possibly by a clansperson if anyone would like to volunteer!
I'm on this cursed iPod again, but I'll submit my head chef pic once I can utilize the powerful ability known as cut and paste.
Aurora just made a new cryptic crossword. What's everyone else been up to?
Today (1/27) is my wife's birthday, so I woke her up with a treasure hunt that I'd set up last night after she went to bed. A series of clues led her to a cache of gift certificates that I'd hidden to various stores: Barnes & Noble, JCPenny, Old Navy, Michaels, and Starbucks.

"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."
I am all about the games!
I used to actually make cards games and board games, but nowadays most of my gaming happens on my iPod Touch (like Words With Friends, Sword & Poker, Bookworm, etc) and anything that falls in the action RPG category for X360/PS3.
I currently picked up Two Worlds II and Dead Space 2, but haven't had the opportunity to play them just yet. (I liked Two Worlds and I loved Dead Space)
What games to you like?
What games do you play?
Have you ever made any games?
Recently I've been on a lot of Dominion and Magic at the table, with a spattering of Scrabble and Arkham Horror.
My video game playing happens in bursts. I'll sometimes play RPGs along the lines of the FF series, or get in a platformer mood, and sometimes I hit kicks with games that demand perfection like Odin Sphere or Ikaruga. I just picked up ICO, and am giving that a play through. I'm very early in the game, and my impression is they sure know how to create atmosphere, we'll see if gameplay picks up.
I'm intrigued by Words with Friends, is it strictly an iPod/Pad/Phone type of application, or could I get in the mix with just a computer somehow?

@Moss: Yes, yes I do believe Card Creation would be a definite creative thing. It's something that's always interested me, but I'm not very good at. I prefer to critique card designs....I think I'd do better in the Development half of R&D. I've got a friend on here who constantly is bugging me to join in on the CCC threads and try judging.
@Kank: There's a ton of games I enjoy playing, whether Board or Video. My favorite board games happen to be Betrayal at the House on the Hill, Fluxx, and Lord of the Fries. Videogames I'm currently playing are: Little Big Planet 2, Pacman DX, and A Space Shooter for 2 Bucks!
@Pat: I freakin' LOVE Ikaruga. Of course, any Shmup by Cave! or Treasure is a hit with me. I love Bullet Hell Shooters.
@Zith: What did you think of the writing excerpt I posted in the last one?

Man, I put my interest out there, then got distracted. This time, I'm going to subscribe to the thread to keep me involved. Sorry, I'll try to pay better attention this time.
I enjoy games as well. Magic is of course a favorite, and I recently invested in a MTGO account. I've not put much money in, though, so my collection is poor, as are my deck options. Strictly Pauper, for now.
I also enjoy designing sets from time to time, which shouldn't come as a surprise given my MSE involvement. I'm working on one now, actually, but design is happening slowly as I'm really trying to make every card awesome.
I own a copy of Arkham Horror I've never gotten to play, and that makes me sad. I love Trivial Pursuit. I own a Wii, but haven't playing it much lately.
Anyone eat anything interesting lately? I'm planning to make my favorite Cilantro-Mint Chutney this weekend.
I don't play that many games, but I do play Rock Band, mostly playing Guitar and Pro Keys (and have eventually got passed Roundabout). I usually like word games as well, like Bookworm Adventures. (Random intersection - I once found the word ROUNDABOUT from the sixteen given letters. I was playing with about five people total watching and helping look for words.)
(PS. Has anyone listened to my 12-minute midi yet?)
The most interesting thing I've eaten lately is....hmmm...well...The Dougie Burger. It's served at a local truck stop restaurant and is on the special order menu, which means you only get it if you know about it. It's a 1/3 pound cheeseburger topped out with a 1/3 pound sausage patty served with a side of potato of your choice. Tonight, since I'm getting over being sick and my body's craving protein since I've hardly eaten, I ordered one of these, added BACON!, and got cheese fries for the side. MMMMmmmm...my tummy is happy.
I also ate my first helping of Rojan Josh, an Indian Lamb dish with garam marsala, lamb, and spiciness. Mmmm...burning, lovely, endorphine-triggering spiciness. I surprised the guy by ordering it at the hottest heat level available. I wanted to feel wonderful. It was delicious, was just barely this side of my heat limit, and went well followed by Mango Ice Cream and Rice pudding with almonds and golden raisins. DELICIOUS!

Yeay! Our clan is coming together!
Once again as soon as I get use of a regular computer instead of this iPod is when I'll be able to update post #1.
I will also try to round up those pictures I have taken of the various games over the years. Zith is the only MTGS member that I have actually met in real life but I cannot remember if I showed him one of the ones that has the REAL Kankennon in it. If anyone is unfamiliar with my alter ego's background I can certainly share that again. (Once I am at a regular computer again)
Aurora: Yep, I listened! Took me a while for my mind to readjust its approach to MIDIs; I'm used to the format being used exclusively to recreate old video game soundtracks. I liked it, and think I'll have to try getting my musician of a friend to play a few bars on a live instrument (cellist, but can play piano). I'd say it helps that repetition isn't my enemy, but even so it does change over its course in a pleasant way. I did note that a few of the transitions are more direct and sudden-feeling than the rest were, was that intentional?
Alden: Just got to your excerpt. Overall quite good, I'd say, definitely something I'd continue reading were it possible. It definitely makes me all the happier that I destroyed my writings on similar subjects; awful, awful stuff that was.
Games: My board gaming hobby continues to grow. I worked it out: since buying my first "real" board game in November 2009, it seems I've bought new games or expansions at a rate of one per week. Crazy! I love Dominion and so have each expansion, but of all my games I think my overall favourite's Endeavour.
As for video games, I've got a Wii and more games than I play. I still need to cap off the rest of the items in Kirby, and should get around to GoldenEye some more, and there's still loads to look at in NBA Jam... yeah. But Rock Band is funtimes, despite the announced loss of the music store for Wii users.
Been putting my latest board game acquisition, Invasion from Outer Space, through the wringer by playing against myself. It's a Martian invasion version of Last Night on Earth, a zombie apocalypse game I'd gotten a while back, with some mechanical changes that leave it largely cross-compatible. Overall it seems more balanced (zombies had a much stronger advantage in LNoE), but it fails statistics in scaling up to two Martian players - overlooking the huge differences between 2d3 and 1d6, and 2d3 and 3, and one 2d6 check and two 1d6 half-checks - but if you keep to 2, 3 or 5 players and thus only one Martian player, you're in the clear.
I'm really, really excited for Mansions of Madness coming out. You Arkham Horror folk should look into it, another FFG game kind of in the vein of Betrayal at the House on the Hill, but also kind of a Descent-Arkham Horror mash-up, with the PCs gathering clues to uncover (and define) the horrible plot afoot in the titular mansion. It shapes the story in random ways as you play, so each starting plot has several possible climaxes... I have high hopes for it.
I'll do my bio tomorrow; had to get up early today to go to board game night, so now I'm all lethargic...

My anecdotal evidence disagrees with yours! EXPLAIN THAT!
Actually, there's a bit of a funny story that inspired my file.
Before I made the file, I made these twelve tracks, each 24-32 measures long. Some had a one-semitone key change in them, most didn't. These were actually inspired by a video game soundtrack, a relatively old game called Lemmings.
Later, I found this floppy disk sitting somewhere. Being curious, I looked inside, and found this fifteen-minute long midi file... that simply had all the Lemmings tracks stuck together. No added transitions or anything. That's what led me into creating this file... twelve tracks strung together, no added transitions or anything.
(Note - If you go to my Compositions page (linked in my sig and also in the first post), if you scroll down, there's a section of the Looping Pieces (most of which aren't linked). Those are the pieces you hear in the 12-minute file.)
-------------------------------
In other news, if you look at my files (link in original post), you can see that I've made a custom set as well (Wave of Mutation). You'll notice that I have my own RP form in there as well. My card creation has slowed a bit recently, but I'm still trying to get back up to pace, as I've got two more sets in the block to go.
I also have my seventh crossword assembled, but I haven't written clues yet. It will take a while - it's another big one (21x21)! I'll keep the theme a secret for now...
Oh, and writing scavenger hunt clues is something I enjoy doing when I make a scavenger hunt. A thing I like to do is to make a scavenger hunt before I start printing out my new custom cards, and one of the clues is on one of the custom cards. For example, one clue said "Search Aurora's desk for a card named Blueprint Seeker, reveal it, and put it into your hand." The result was that there was a "booster pack" of my fake set, which looked as such:
Out of the Blue 2U
Instant [Common]
Spellmorph 1U(You may cast this face down as a 2/2 creature for 3. You may cast it for its spellmorph cost by turning it face up.)
Counter target black, red, green, or white spell.
Darkpool Cutpurse B
Creature - Merfolk Rogue [Common]
Whenever Darkpool Cutpurse deals combat damage to an opponent, that player discards a card unless he or she pays 1. Curses from the depths always go after the unprepared.
1/1
Avenger of Luminance W
Creature - Human Elemental Soldier [Common]
Lifelink
Avenger of Luminance enters the battlefield with a +1/+1 counter on it if you have 10 or less life. The greater the emergency, the brighter her laser shines.
1/1
Flaring Liger 3RR
Creature - Cat [Common]
Morph 3R(You may cast this face down as a 2/2 creature for 3. Turn it face up any time for its morph cost.) “The degree of my pets’ harm done is of greater value than their survival.”
—Teneka
6/2
Elvish Stargazer 2GG
Creature - Elf Wizard [Common]
When Elvish Stargazer enters the battlefield, scry X, where X is the number of creatures you control. (To scry X, look at the top X cards of your library. Put any number of them on the bottom of your library in any order and the rest on top in any order.)
3/3
Starlit Clearings
Land [Common] T: Add 1 to your mana pool. T: Add G to your mana pool. Activate this ability only if you control a Plains. T: Add W to your mana pool. Activate this ability only if you control a Forest. Lit up among the trees, sprouting by the light. Personal note: When I make custom sets, I keep dual lands at common because this is a casual environment and the cards aren't for profit or tournament legal. So I made the mana fixing easier to obtain for a limited format.
Æther Spiral WU
Instant [Common]
Spellmorph WU(You may cast this face down as a 2/2 creature for 3. You may cast it for its spellmorph cost by turning it face up.)
Choose one—Return target nonland permanent to its owner’s hand; or destroy target noncreature nonland permanent.
Firegust Drake 1RG
Creature - Drake [Common]
Flying T: Firegust Drake deals 1 damage to target creature or player. T: Firegust Drake deals 2 damage to target creature with flying. The Galecloud skies do not cover Terrapeak.
1/1
Edge Dweller 2BB
Creature - Illusion [Common]
Morph 2B(You may cast this face down as a 2/2 creature for 3. Turn it face up any time for its morph cost.)
When Edge Dweller enters the battlefield or is turned face up, you may have target player lose 2 life and draw two cards.
2/2
Charging Exploder 1R
Creature - Goblin Warrior [Common]
First strike
Sacrifice Charging Exploder: Charging Exploder deals 1 damage to target creature or player. He explodes just after contact, just before it’s too late.
1/1
Psychedelic Pixie 2UU
Creature - Faerie Soldier [Common]
Flying, protection from colorless
Psychedelic Pixie can’t be sacrificed.
Morph 3U(You may cast this face down as a 2/2 creature for 3. Turn it face up any time for its morph cost.)
3/2
Lightslayer Darkwave 2BB
Creature - Human Elemental Shaman [Uncommon]
Wither (This deals damage to creatures in the form of -1/-1 counters.)
When Lightslayer Darkwave enters the battlefield, you may have it deal 2 damage to target white creature. Darkness overpowers the light.
3/2
Blueprint Seeker 1U
Creature - Faerie Rogue [Uncommon]
Flying
Whenever Blueprint Seeker deals combat damage to an opponent, that player plays with his or her hand revealed for the rest of the game. “I think I saw someone hiding something in that piano bench...”
1/2
Foliage Cover 2GW
Instant [Uncommon]
Spellmorph 1GW(You may cast this face down as a 2/2 creature for 3. You may cast it for its spellmorph cost by turning it face up.)
For each blue, black, and/or red creature attacking you, put two 1/1 green Saproling creature tokens onto the battlefield.
Swift-Fang Dragon 5RR
Creature - Dragon [Rare]
Flying
When Swift-Fang Dragon enters the battlefield, put two 3/1 red Cat creature tokens with haste onto the battlefield. A group of ligers charging in the Terrapeak range is a sign of a much greater confrontation to come.
5/6
Recently I've been on a lot of Dominion and Magic at the table, with a spattering of Scrabble and Arkham Horror.
I'm intrigued by Words with Friends, is it strictly an iPod/Pad/Phone type of application, or could I get in the mix with just a computer somehow?
Scrabble!
Words With Friends is very Scrabblific. The overall gameplay is as close to Scabble as Mr. Pibb is to Dr. Pepper. The point values are slighly different, the high value squares are in different locations, but overall it's pretty much Scrabble. You can even try to play words that you're unsure of and it will let you at least try without penalty. It just says, "Sorry, that word is unacceptable."
As far as I know, it's only for the i-devices. I'll try checking into it if possible.
What did you think of the writing excerpt I posted in the last one?
I've come up with a useful idea to keep post #1 as a repository of links to each of our creative endeavors as well. As soon as I have a chance, I'll attach the link to your post from the last clan thread.
Man, I put my interest out there, then got distracted. This time, I'm going to subscribe to the thread to keep me involved. Sorry, I'll try to pay better attention this time.
I was getting a little concerned that you might not be interested after all, so I am quite relieved to see you back! Welcome to the clan!
I figured that if anyone were to have a cool idea for a clan banner, that would be you. Any ideas?
I don't play that many games, but I do play Rock Band, mostly playing Guitar and Pro Keys (and have eventually got passed Roundabout). I usually like word games as well, like Bookworm Adventures. (Random intersection - I once found the word ROUNDABOUT from the sixteen given letters. I was playing with about five people total watching and helping look for words.)
(PS. Has anyone listened to my 12-minute midi yet?)
Rock Band!
With the first two, my bands got up to I think as high as 50th place at one point before losing interest in playing it nightly in order to maintain that ranking.
My two top bands were known as:
Helena Handbasket
and
European, Imapooin
Just like with Slavan, I'll link your midi to post #1 along with your cryptic crosswords. It'll just be a matter of time.
1/1
These are my two favorite!
I'd put that Cutpurse in my Ravenous Rats deck in a heartbeat!
In the meantime, I'll see what I can do to start compiling all of our endeavors in one spot--a repository if you will. If anyone wants to read Slavan's unedited, uncut short story, feel free to email me because it is definitely beyond what MTGS will allow. I will see if I can find a snippet of some of my writings, but they too are beyond the scope of forum guidelines, so much so that a PG-13 level snippet would likely be even smaller than Mr. Guiser's.
Glad you like the music. I should say however, that Spellmorph wasn't made by me. Pichoro was the one who actually came up with the mechanic (and who has posted this thread in the Custom Card Rulings forum).
@Slavan: I may pick up Ikaruga again soon. So far, I've beat it on Easy, got 11 seconds away from victory on Normal, and about halfway through level 5 on Hard. I never kill the level 4 boss, the only way I can seem to keep up is by dodging until it gets bored of me and goes home.
@Kank: Here's my best Scrabble story ever. Back in undergrad I was busy getting ☺☺☺☺housed with a couple buddies visiting from out of town while their girlfriends went to some show together. The girls came back and whined about being bored, and their guys shouldn't be so drunk when they're not, and they don't want to drink, etc. So I stood up, fell down, and offered to play board games if they would help me clear the table. They chose Scrabble and I immediately started talking ☺☺☺☺ (as I am wont to do while drunk), they reciprocated, confident a couple sober college girls could put a drunk ass in his place. I win the first turn and immediately drop a 7 letter word, STABLED. Then throughout the course of the game I pull Z, Q, and X and use each of them on at least triple letter score tiles. By the end of it, I beat their combined scores by over 100. Then I fell down on my way to the bathroom.
@Kank: I remember seeing the picture of you and Zith meeting up together. Still wouldn't be too bad for others. Maybe _they_ won't think you're a freak. Some of us just know already.
@Zith: Thank you for the compliment on my piece. Drop me an e-mail if you're further interested. We've got to take it away from the site. As for writing it, it's actually really weird. It's nothing I really have read or tried before my first piece. In fact, up until I wrote one for my wife, I'd actually stayed away from romance entirely in my prose. I think I'm some kinda idiot savant, as anyone who's had the opportunity to read any of it says it's really good.
@Board Games: Pich, if you get the chance, crack open that Arkham Horror. It's a fantastic game, but make sure you have 3-4 hours to play it. It is quite long. But, very, very cool in the end. I think we _barely_ managed to win the first time with played it.
Trivial pursuit is the hotness, much love there. I especially love Star Wars trivial pursuit, but we've had to ban it in my circle of friends because it gets way, way, way too cutthroat. We've ended up having 45 minute turns with games lasting 3 hours before. Of course, we play that you can continue going as long as you answer the question, even if you already have the piece. We've also come to the point where you have to answer the question exactly as printed for it to count.
Mansions of Madness sounds like a game I really need to pick up. Clue + Arkham Horror? COUNT ME THE FREAK IN! I'll go snag an order on it once I've already picked up the stuff I've got sitting in the back of the comic shop.
@Rock Band: You know, I've never really enjoyed Rock Band. I don't know what it is, but I like Guitar Hero much better. I always seem to have a hard time reading the notes. I guess the round ones are easier for me to see and read. Of course, I was a first day purchaser on Guitar Hero when it first came out, so maybe it's just because I've been playing it longer. My Uncle got me Band Hero for Christmas and it's pretty enjoyable. Honestly, I do have to admit that Rock Band has a WAY better music selection for sure though.
@Aurora: I did listen to it as well. I'll be honest: it was very beautiful, but it lives up to its namesake as looping. Too much looping. I felt it slightly repetative, even in its beauty, without a complexity of rhythym or note harmonics to make it differentiated for each other. It seemed like a play on melodies, but without the aural contortion necessary to make it entirely successful. It was still quite enjoyable to listen to, but would be moreso if it were around 5-6 minutes in length.
However, I do think you managed to successfully make what you were shooting for in several short pieces that blended together with little transitions. Also, do you use a keyboard or just go straight on the computer in writing it, Aurora?
@Sets: I haven't made a set! I feel like I'm the only one!
@Repository: I think that's really freakin' cool. Feel free to link it.
@Scrabble: Pat, that's an awesome story. Mad Scrabble tech. One that I've been interested in learning how to do is playing Strip Scrabble. It's a familial variation of the adult variety. Maybe I'll ask someone one of these days how exactly they score it. Otherwise, has anyone managed to play any Scrabble in a Foreign Language? I used to play in German with a set my teacher had, it was pretty cool and definitely interesting. It way helped my vocabulary out.
@Kank: That's actually probably the longest section of like seven different stories that was PG-13. Hahaha...usually there's something a little dirtier before that that I would've had to cut out or adjust!

Yes, this "looping marathon" thing was put together just like that. I do improvise on the piano before I write anything down on the computer though. Each segment that's in the looping marathon took about 30 minutes or less to write; for things that I really worked to do, there's my Four Seasons series (see my Compositions wiki page in the OP).
About Board Games: I'm not really a competitive person... I usually play games for humor value rather than to win. For example, I like playing Apples to Apples, as there are quite a bit of good laughs every game. Once, the card said "Complicated", and I put down the card that said "Dating". That card won the round (with quite a few laughs).
And finally, Scribblish gets out some laughs every time at every moment.
@pat: I've been a fan of Scrabble for as long as I can remember. While I've never had the pleasure of playing bombs like QUIXOTRY (3x3) or OXYPHENBUTAZONE, my greatest claim to fame is hitting two triple words with SEQUOIAS, which if memory serves me was worth 212 points.
@Slavan: yeah, there's a picture somewhere with Zith and I where we're super happy about some cinnamon rolls or something. It might be back on the MTGSalivation thread.
@Aurora: We play Apples to Apples all of the time. I've never played Scribblish, but it looks like something I'd like.
@all: I'm going to keep adding links to creative stuff we've done in Post #1, which I think will be helpful especially over time, so let me know what else I should be putting up there! (I have a bunch of things I have to start dredging for out of my own creations. If anyone has any links for me, I'm all ears!)
I have played Scrabble a few times, but I don't really have that many memorable awesome plays there...
As for Apples to Apples, there was one time when someone was judging "Sensual", which looked as such:
Sensual
-tactile
-pleasing
-sexy
Then, people submit their cards... among those submitted were "Geishas" and "Girlfriends". Then came the last card...
(Warning: somewhat dirty humor, but it's too good to pass up, even though I normally don't post things like this.)
"AIDS"
That gathered laughs from all around the table. Needless to say, that card won the round.
Also, I have posted two other Scribblish images in some other parts of the forums... here and here are the scans again.
(I drew the first frame in the first image here. I also provided the second caption and last caption in the second image.)

ThatRedwood
{Official Brewmeister}

Lasersharp
{Official Quizmaster of [The Crafters]}
(Please note that, despite my attempts to hide my identity behind a fictional character in the past, I am male; the female part of Lasersharp is not on MTGS, although the female part will show up on my YouTube and Sporcle pages.)
And formerly known as:
Aurora Illumina
{Official Cruciverbalist and Puzzle Maker and co-official pianist/jumper}
My work (crosswords and music) can be found here.
{Official Labyrinth Analyst}
{Official Knitter and co-official pianist/jumper}
{Official Flying Dutchman}

Dox Quaidly
{Official Cosplayer of The Crafters}

Pichoro (Absentee 2011)
Zith (Absentee 2012)
jomafro (Absentee 2012)
{Official Graphic Designer}
Alien Misprint (Absentee 2012)
{Official Inkslinger}
Title: not sure really what goes here...
You may refer to me as: Alien, Tony
Profession: Soldier, Inkslinger
To get an idea of my style of art, check out my website, found here:

Frox (Absentee 2013--1 post in 2013)
Hi, my name is Frox and I'm a user at MTGSalvation.

- Reading (Philip K. Dick, Robert Heinlein, Chuck Palahniuk, and anything remotely dystopian are my kind of thing);
- Sports (especially ice hockey and pro football)
- Free diving
Syphon (Banned 2013)
{Official Author and Quixotic Wonder}
{Official Clan Poet}

Kronik (Absentee 2013)
{Official Ink Bearer}

Not a problem for me, though I am a picky eater.
Not only am I the mod for Custom Cards, I make my own cards, too. Also, in Humour, I (try to) make humourous posts.
Profession: Lab Tech working in Regeneration Biology.
Things I do:
-Cook and eat
-Play games of all sorts
-Draw things (pen/oil pastel/graphite, sometimes mixed)
-Fix dumpster furniture instead of buying furniture
-Freestyle spoken word (think a mix between Flobot's "No Handlebars" and Digable Planet's "Where I'm From", but without amazing music)
@Aurora: Your crossword puzzle is amazing. I'm stoked to go back and do the others after this. Are you compiling them strictly for fun, or do you intend to publish at some point?

My creative work comes in my musical compositions for piano, and also my crosswords (which have been quite popular on MTGS.) I'm not working yet, but I'll probably still be doing all my creative work in the future as well.
My work (crosswords and music) can be found here.
A few other random things can be found here. I don't really play Magic much anymore, but I still enjoy creating custom cards here and there and everywhere.

I'm on this cursed iPod again, but I'll submit my head chef pic once I can utilize the powerful ability known as cut and paste.
EDIT:
Headchef: http://kankennon.com/pics/headchef.JPG
Aurora just made a new cryptic crossword. What's everyone else been up to?
Today (1/27) is my wife's birthday, so I woke her up with a treasure hunt that I'd set up last night after she went to bed. A series of clues led her to a cache of gift certificates that I'd hidden to various stores: Barnes & Noble, JCPenny, Old Navy, Michaels, and Starbucks.
Talk to me!

A Picture a Year Ago. No, I don't normally dress Goth. Yes, that's the cutest, tiniest Luffy you've ever seen.

DELICIOUS!

Instant [Common]
Spellmorph 1U (You may cast this face down as a 2/2 creature for 3.
Morph 3R (You may cast this face down as a 2/2 creature for 3. Turn it face up any time for its morph cost.)
“The degree of my pets’ harm done is of greater value than their survival.”
—Teneka
Land [Common]
T: Add 1 to your mana pool.
Spellmorph WU (You may cast this face down as a 2/2 creature for 3. You may cast it for its spellmorph cost by turning it face up.)
Choose one—Return target nonland permanent to its owner’s hand; or destroy target noncreature nonland permanent.
Firegust Drake 1RG
Creature - Drake [Common]
Flying
T: Firegust Drake deals 1 damage to target creature or player.
T: Firegust Drake deals 2 damage to target creature with flying.
The Galecloud skies do not cover Terrapeak.
1/1
Edge Dweller 2BB
Creature - Illusion [Common]
Morph 2B (You may cast this face down as a 2/2 creature for 3. Turn it face up any time for its morph cost.)
When Edge Dweller enters the battlefield or is turned face up, you may have target player lose 2 life and draw two cards.
2/2
Charging Exploder 1R
Creature - Goblin Warrior [Common]
First strike
Sacrifice Charging Exploder: Charging Exploder deals 1 damage to target creature or player.
He explodes just after contact, just before it’s too late.
1/1
Psychedelic Pixie 2UU
Creature - Faerie Soldier [Common]
Flying, protection from colorless
Psychedelic Pixie can’t be sacrificed.
Morph 3U (You may cast this face down as a 2/2 creature for 3.
Spellmorph 1GW (You may cast this face down as a 2/2 creature for 3.

I'm thinking about the foods I eat, but I haven't decided what to talk about yet.
I've come up with a useful idea to keep post #1 as a repository of links to each of our creative endeavors as well. As soon as I have a chance, I'll attach the link to your post from the last clan thread.
I was getting a little concerned that you might not be interested after all, so I am quite relieved to see you back! Welcome to the clan!
I figured that if anyone were to have a cool idea for a clan banner, that would be you. Any ideas?
You are always welcome Emo! (Even if you are in the clan that's looking to deny me Funniest Member for the 6th year running!)
Guiser's.

@Sets: I haven't made a set! I feel like I'm the only one!

That gathered laughs from all around the table. Needless to say, that card won the round.
Also, I have posted two other Scribblish images in some other parts of the forums... here and here are the scans again.
(I drew the first frame in the first image here. I also provided the second caption and last caption in the second image.)
