I'm cutting the chase: If were to hold Clan Contest Mafia this year soon, would you guys be interested in it?
(No problem if you haven't played earlier or aren't expert: As long as you are interested and willing to try, it's enough!)

Phone ate my post. My brother will be streaming later on, once we've attained some notoriety through the main channel. In general, the YouTube format is easier for people to access, as you don't have to worry about missing the stream or anything, and it'll also be easier for us to do. Streaming for 3-5 hours a day, multiple days a week, is a lot of time invested. Early on, if you don't have a lot of viewers, the effort put forth doesn't really match up. We plan on putting out two videos a day every day, ranging from 10-30 minutes, depending on whether it'll be part of a series or a one-of episode. That much content can easily be cranked out in a single day, and then I can edit it through the week to have it ready to go for the next week. Once we're comfortably handling all that, and have enough people watching, doing regular streams will be a more reasonable option. Still, I'll leave that to him, while I continue the editing work.
TL;DR, YouTube is the better place for what we have in mind, especially early on. Streaming will come later.
Raph, I'm interested in how you managed to catch fire when boiling water. I mean, I've had plenty of mild injuries from cooking, but never with actual flames.
Step one: Turn gas-stove on
Step two: Wear a shirt made out of some mix of fibers, some more plastic than others
Step Three: Don't tuck in shirt
Step Four: Use small pan filled with water, and have the burner turned on high
Step Five:Apparently catch part of your shirt on part of the flame
Step Six:Don't notice something is burning then look down and notice the "inside of your shirt is on fire
First time I can remember screaming like what I presume a little girl screaming in terror would sound, and I'm healing nicely (well I presume so, no infections)
And I'm pretty sure I got burned worse because I put my shirt out on myself, so it adhered to my skin
If my profile could be updated just a bit, I'm 24 now, and Nether Void should be added to the "favorite cards" category. Also, since I heard this was the cool thing to do:
Man, now I want to get a nether void. If I had one, though, I'd end up wanting more so I could finally play pox in legacy. I know that it's playable without, but that's not appealing.
Thinking about it, I haven't really spent any money on magic lately. My last purchase was the new Sidisi for my Prossh list, but aside from that, I can't recall the last time. Most of my spare funds have been going towards recording equipment and whatnot. Doesn't help that Dragons of Tarkir is easily the least appealing set I've seen in years.
It's going to be a "Let's Play" channel that focuses on console games. Not purely "retro" as we plan on playing everything from NES all the way up to Wii U stuff. Most of the content we have planned is for the SNES and PS2, but there's a fair smattering of other stuff as well.
I decided to roughly add up how much I've spent on this venture, and it sort of makes me sad.
$160 capture card
$80 microphone
$80 noise reduction foam (and probably need to order more)
$150 in total for consoles (original Xbox, SNES, Nintendo 64)
>$200 on games (which I would never have purchased if not for this project)
Not to mention a $50 monthly subscription for Adobe products.
I don't regret it, but it is kind of painful to look at like that.
I have a guilty pleasure for original Xbox games. I think the original Xbox really lost the battle against PS2, but there are some very unique games that you just won't find on any other console. Particularly, Jet Set Radio Future, Gladius, Jade Empire, Azurik, and Munch's Odyssey. I know that Jet Grind Radio and Abe's Odyssey/Exodus exist, but the gameplay is different enough that you can say that they're entirely different games. It's not like comparing Dynasty Warriors games.
Interesting coincidence, I actually just ordered Jet Set Radio Future. It's easily one of my favorite games of all time, let alone original Xbox. The soundtrack alone was wonderful. Never played the other ones you mentioned, though. Also ordered Abe's Exodus. Funny how things work out.
Xbox definitely lost to the PS2, but some quick research says that every console has so far. The highest selling console as well as the largest game library. Pretty good.
I personally never owned a PS2, but I knew enough people that did so I was able to get a good dose of what the action was like when it was fresh, but I still missed out on most of the online hype because I was fanboying Xbox and hoping for clan support in Halo 3 so that KSI wouldn't go into the dumpster. (Spoiler: We did).
I've been emulating PS2 games on my phone (Note 4, 3 gigs of ram) and it's been running pretty smoothly. //.hack GU is my current fix.
The only .hack game I've played is Infection. It's quite good, still have it. Loved it as a kid because it actually felt like an online game at times, and as someone that only ever played offline console games, that idea was mindblowing. Also came with a mini-movie DVD (OVA? ) which was a really cool tie-in. I love that game.
I missed out on the online aspect of PS2 as well. In truth, I didn't really start playing games online until Xbox 360.
quick little post
living alone has been interesting, lots of video games, talking to cats, but overall tons of productivity and I can honestly say the nicest thing is not picking up dozens of my exes clothes off the floor daily.
Also I love this site and this is something they just published http://www.compoundchem.com/2015/05/07/mass-spectrometry/ I do GC-MS (gas chromatography is the separation technique) so it is a nice little run down on the detector I use and love and the "gold-standard" on particle identification.
Additionally my promotion to Volatiles goes into effect June 1st when my intern becomes full-time and we can bring on another part-timer (yay that means I officially am 1.5 persons.
Ended up officially joining the American Society for Mass Spectroscopy and really want to attend this conference in October http://www.asms.org/conferences/asilomar-conference/asilomar-conference-homepage where the main talk is exactly what I want to be researching (currently just doing enviornmental (EPA, DOH, etc) work)
Very tempted to get a Esper Dragons deck just because it looks fun, opinions? Might just build a different legacy deck, thinking D&T just so I have a deck that isn't playing FoW or Brainstorm.
Let me know when your youtube goes live!

Talking to cats is like the best thing a person can do with their time. I am frequently talking to cats, or meowing at them. Always an enjoyable experience.
Chemistry has never been my forte, but it is interesting. Rather than being 1.5 people, it sounds to me like you have minions.
I fully support more people playing D&T. Esper Dragons might be a cheaper option if you're just looking for something new to have fun with, but the format it's in displeases me greatly so I can't really recommend it wholeheartedly.
Aside from the whole YouTube thing, I don't have a lot going on. No magic lately, nothing exciting to report. Been playing some Hearthstone, kind of fun but the RNG keeps me from becoming too invested.
I'm probably a little biased, but I don't think standard has actually been good since INN>RTR standard. I had a short period when Khans came out where I was having fun with ascendancy combo, but that fell out pretty fast. I haven't been paying much attention lately but I watched a few games the other day and it just didn't look interesting at all. Junk midrange is still seemingly the best deck. Bleh.
Standard hasnt been good since urza's block /waving my grandpa cane around
@ps2 v xbox
eh - i think PS is on the way out. they are trying so hard to choke down the market that they are going to alienate their fanbase. If i were a betting man, i would go as far as to say sony will be the next circuit city.
@Luminous
Thats some pretty interesting stuff man. how long have you been in that field? as for living alone, are you enjoying it, or no? i think that a lot of people forget to enjoy their single alone time because they feel they shouldnt enjoy it.
life on my end is going well. puppy is healthy. going for a 2 week vacation to europe next wednesday, excited as hell for it. changing roles at my office, hopefully wont be working 65+ hour weeks anymore
Personally I see most consoles being gone within a decade or so. The line between consoles and computers blurs with each generation of consoles, but they're pretty much always worse in terms of functionality. The Wii U was the most recent console I bought for myself, and unless they come out with something crazy, it will probably be the last.
I had a lot of fun with INN-RTR standard, and I felt like there was a decent representation of most archetypes. Aggro was very well represented, midrange strategies worked out fine, combo was sort of a thing, and there were interesting synergies in a good chunk of decks. Plus the weird 5-color shenanigans like the wonderful unexpected results decks. Too fun.
Though I still found Alara-Zendikar standard to be the most enjoyable, personally.
Standard hasnt been good since urza's block /waving my grandpa cane around
Wholeheartedly agree
Although, takimg the rose-tinted glasses of, I found the Tarkir block very fun. It was an interesting time for me to return to the game. But I will always love the Rathi cycle and the Mirrodin block.
Maybe that is why I love Modern and specifically Affinity so much and now I am excited for MM2015. Any thoughts on that?
On the console thing, well, they are almost over and done. One or two generations more. I still prefer consoles, since installing is so easy. I am at the moment to play Lord of the Rings Online, only to be installing it for three days! I tried so many fixes I feel like a hacker now (though I am not ).
That much for my life now, rest is work. Haven't played MTG in a month, but at least I have my Mario Kart 8.

Standard:
Tired of changing it every x months, so whatever list caught my attention...
Got to play some legacy recently. Played about 10 pre-board games against MUD, alternating going first. Matchup was about even, though I feel it would have been more in my favor if he was playing a more typical manabase. He was running a playset each of ancient tomb and city of traitors, as well as some number of cloudpost and glimmerpost. Cavern of souls as a two-of and a singleton great furnace. No wastelands. This abundance of lands that produce multiple mana made it somewhat difficult at times to choke off his mana supply, which is my usual way to beat MUD. Games usually came down to how many phyrexian revokers I drew, or how ridiculous his open was. It's hard for D&T to beat turn 1 grim monolith> voltaic key> chalice of the void on 1, T2 wurmcoil engine.
I'm trying to reply to two different posts with quotes, but I keep getting told that "Non Latin Unicode characters are temporarily not allowed." Uh...?
Caught a guy that stole a bunch of Magic cards by setting up a sting with local law enforcement. He has priors, including armed robbery. He'll be going away for a while.

Standard is that bad right now? Sad, kind of expected that, looks better than modern which just looks so clunky (fetch plus shock land is just ouch)
Kind of always wanted a D&T deck, land sis just crazy expensive and not a playstyle I would want but yeah.. pricey.
The lab is environmental so lots of drinking water, asbestos, soil remediation, etc.
