So...we are sitting around drinking beer the other night and someone jokingly asked a question that I don't know the answer to. Naturally I would bring it to the MTGSalvation forums for the answer.
Why can't you physically pick yourself up? Obviously you aren't actually able to pick yourself up. But is there a mathematical reason for this? Can this be described in a formula?
I can do a pull-up. Does that mean I picked myself up?
I can do handstands while in a sitting position. Does that mean I picked myself up?
I can very briefly hold myself in a planche position. What about that?

You would then be lifting yourself off of the ground and that just doesn't work with gravity.
Because of that each action has equal and opposite reaction. When you try to lift yourself, you can go and grab yourself by the waist (in theory, depending on how fit you are) put enough upward force on your waist to lift yourself. However, when you do this, you also apply an equally large downward force upon your arms. The whole causes some stress upon your back and shoulders, but apart from feeling uncomfortable, you don't really go anywhere, since the forces on your body cancel each other out.

We have laboured long to build a heaven, only to find it populated with horrors.
You sit, put your palms under your butt, and lift up, I guess?
All that does is make it so your butt has a force of 100 pounds pusing up on it, and your shoulders have a 100 pound force pushing down of them, so it cancels out.

Storm Crow is strictly worse than Seacoast Drake.
Though I might argue that standing is bearing the weight of your body. And jumping exists.
