No, but people ought to, because...

But, if this was anything other than a white guy who killed a black teenager (all other facts being identical) this would not have made nearly as much news. There's no question about that.
...right now, if it were a black guy who killed a white kid, there would be no national organizations pouring money into his defense, no media circus, and no presumption of innocence. He'd be railroaded through the system.
But because this kid was black, and this guy was white, everyone's talking about how reasonable it was for Zimmerman to shoot a seventeen-year-old unarmed teenager who he'd stalked through the whole neighborhood and aggressively confronted.
And Barack Obama is "white" in Brazil. "Race" isn't a scientific concept; it has less to do with skin tone or ancestry than it does to culture and identification, and it's clear that Zimmerman was plenty comfortable in the culture and identification of a southern white male--and that other whites are plenty comfortable thinking of him as one.

Sing lustily and with good courage.
Be aware of singing as if you were half dead,
or half asleep:
but lift your voice with strength.
Be no more afraid of your voice now,
nor more ashamed of its being heard,
than when you sang the songs of Satan.

Zimmermans chances of acquittal are slim because women react to emotions more than men. Men use logical and practical deductions. Any logical human being would come to the conclusion the state has a serious lack of evidence. Nothing concrete just circumstantial evidence that's pretty weak at best.

Actually, Native Americans, Ameri-Indians, Eskimos, Pacific Islanders are all Mongoloids. And Caucasoid is present in both Europe & Asia & can be white & brown depending on the climate.

I for one love the comments because it not only shows haw above the average I am, but how easy it is to mislead those people for financial gain.
I agree. We should all only play g/x decks because they are the most objectively fun and anyone who disagrees does not know the truth about EDH. Everyone should just play their decks because interaction beyond high fiving about how many land are in play is unfun and equivalent to casting Stasis while kicking puppies. I for one will never play with anyone who casts tutors, removal spells, blue cards, things I arbitrarily decide I don't like but will probably cast myself later.

I went to Ave Maria school of law, in Ann Arbor (or it was when I went there), and I am a patent attorney. What I know about other areas of law is from school and studying for the Bar Exam
You sound rather knowledgeable and, as a patent lawyer, you must be a cleverer cookie than the rest (e.g., tax lawyers).
Thanks for sharing. Unfortunately, I have no idea what the Ave Marie SoL is, except, judging by the name, it's a Catholic school—however those work and whatever that means—and it's, perhaps unhappily, not a T14 school. Closest one I know is [U.] Michigan, which is in Ann Arbor too if I'm not mistaken.
I'm going to be a 3L in the fall. I don't have the experience, and I'm not very good at it...
Law school is a strange thing. Unless you go beyond the curriculum by participating in co-curriculars and/or undertaking an extracurricular job, you'll have no experience. As a professional school, it's quite strange.
As for not being very good at it, I'm sure it's simply perception—at least, for your sake, I hope it is.
I think this correct. If Zimmerman had been arrested and put on trial in the first place, I don't think there would have been the same outcry. The outcry was because the police decided to treat Martin as just another dead black guy, and leave it at that.
I agree with wholly.
If the cops didn't **** up, I wouldn't think all of this would have happened. On top of that, there's now a significant likelihood that there could be race and profiling riots, as well as vehement gun control lobbying and the vehement reaction from gun lobbies.
If the cops didn't **** up, I wouldn't think all of this would have happened.
You're assuming that they did mess up. None of the original cops involved arrested Zimmerman at the scene because the evidence supported Zimmerman's story, so he was not arrested at the time, however the lead investigator did make a recommendation that he be charged with manslaughter. A capias request was sent to the prosecutor to issue a warrant for an arrest or for the case to be sent to grand jury, which the initial prosecutor refused to do so. I don't see how this is "cocking up". It's by the dang book. Everything that has happened with this case afterwards has been what is strange.
Just an update, it seems the Jurors are asking for clarification on Manslaughter. My guess is if they are asking about that, they ruled out convicting him on 2nd Degree Murder.
The state did not prove their case beyond a reasonable doubt. This was the only verdict the jury could have returned with. The state was certainly closer with manslaughter charge. However the jury did their due diligence and made a just and fair decision.
And I know some people are going to bring up the OJ Simpson trial (if not on these forums, they will somewhere else), that jury also made a fair and just decision because the state had not proved their case beyond a reasonable doubt.
That is what this case came down to: reasonable doubt. And this case was shrouded in it.
I'm surprised the Jury was objective enough to find for this.
Prosecution had to prove Zimmerman did not act in self defense beyond a reasonable doubt...and given the situation, that was just not possible.
Nobody really knew what happened = Zimmerman walks. (i.e. not beyond a reasonable doubt)
You might say under some broad swatch of universal Justice Zimmerman should have been punished with *something*, and I would agree. You might even say our laws ought to be rewritten and I would agree.
But confined to the laws as they stand, and the evidentiary burden the prosecution had to show, confined to this narrow equation, they jury got it right. There was not enough to show that Zimmerman did not act in self defense beyond a reasonable doubt.
Looks like it. In fact I am getting sick of some people on twitter. They are now comparing it to Michael Vick and Casey Anthony cases.
FYI: I felt that this was at most involuntary Manslaughter. I may not agree with the verdict completely, but I do feel that given the facts that were out there, that the system worked as intended.
Zimmerman committed a crime, possibly several. murder 2 was not one of them, and the state prosecutor should never have bowed to public pressure like she did and held out for a less serious but infinitely more likely to stick charge... you know, like one that actually was applicable for the evidence given?
I think this verdict is a crock of ****, and a travesty of justice. It institutionalizes a world where people of color have to be constantly obsequious to non-colored people, even when it's scary men approaching them in the middle of the night with a gun.

The verdict only does what you allow it. Martin should've been smart and kept Zimmerman in his periphery and went on his way. Zimmerman shouldn't have disobeyed his dispatcher. Martin shouldn't have hit Zimmerman any more than was necessary-stun him and escape to a nearby residence for help, or run home. So the verdict would've only been a crock of **** if there'd been a strong bias against either of the two in the courtroom. Or if the original judge had presided over the case.
All I see in your post is a spoiled child's whining because things didn't go your way.

This kind of race baiting is the worst possible kind of racism. As long as there are people out there are willing to play the race card in every possible situation there will never be harmony among the various races of mankind.

I agree, the justice system is only fair when the outcomes of trials agree with my opinion.

Dead men don't talk
Zimmerman would be guilty if it happened in Canada.
News Flash:
People know what the prevailing laws are where they live. This would obviously have happened differently in Canada.
