For kicks, what is your téléphone portable/téléphone mobile/Mobiltelefon/Handy/mobile phone/cell(ular) phone/hand phone/etc.'s model and make (if that's the terminology) and its colour?
What are your fave features? What would you like better (or what things could be better about your phone)?
ATM, I'm looking at phones but I don't think anything could sway me from my choice (thus not quite suitable for RLA), based on very few factors actually, an iPhone Some Number-Maybe Something. I like my phone clean and simple; I doubt I'll use it to as completely, 'to the fullest', that others do.
I'm more or less simply surveying or opening a thread for this commonplace thing (thus not Tower of Tech or whatever it's called-worthy).
Get an iPhone. They are the best and once you use it you never go back.
I will buy an iPhone. The decision was / is an a priori one TBH.
The matter of colour is a pain in the butt and even with help such as iMore's article on phone colour, I can't choose too easily (favouring white ATM; Mom contends that 'once black, never back' and that white is more likely to get noticeably gritty). After that, there's a matter of case colour and/or design... (I have a H.K. one for my iPod touch that is supposed to be for iPhones, so I may end up using that).
Edit: Wow. The black-coloured iPhone is apparently slimmer than the white one... Just today I was joking that black is slimming.

right now i have a simple text message phone, but this christmas i think i am going to upgrade to the galaxy s3.
Apparently the iPhone 5's supposed to be out by then.

the coloring on the newer iphones is beneath the glass so it will not get gritty. it will show smudges but thats about it ...
both of the phones are the same dimensions ... there were a few that left the factory that did not have the back on them correctly but that has since been fixed ... i can promise you that they are the same size ... i deal with them on a daily basis ...
as for which is better and so forth ..every phone has it's up and down points ... currently i use an Iphone 4s and a Nokia Lumia 900 ... wouldn't mind a HTC OneX ... android though has more issues from daily use .. unless you are very careful (and by that i mean, making sure you exit a program correctly, keeping background tasks to a minimum, not installing the latest app till others have tried it some and so on) ... the iphone and windows phone are more forgiving to daily use and miss use then android ...

Well, dearest mother's concerns are unnecessary and, dare I say, unfounded. My phone will be protected by a case and a screen protector
both of the phones are the same dimensions ... there were a few that left the factory that did not have the back on them correctly but that has since been fixed ...
Oh, really? Well, it's non-issue for me. In trying to be modest, I don't wear anything that's terribly form-fitting/tight-fitting/skin-tight and my pockets can handle big phones. They'll accommodate.
Apple informs me that these are the specs. I'll be sure to pull out my trustworthy rule and scales (just joking; if I were to measure things, that's poor precision).

Yeah, at this stage, no advice can 'save me' (just joking ) from going to the store and buying the phone in the morning. I chose Apple's iPhone because I'm a sheep and I do as others do. (Nah. I've plenty of reasons, plus I bought applications for my iPod and my iPhone-to-be a long time ago. I made up my mind a while back.)
Thanks for the advice nonetheless.
Now I'm simply interested in what brand/make/model they use, what colour their phone is, etc. (I guess what they do with their phones).
I have an iPhone 4 (black). It's true that once you switch to an iPhone it's hard to switch back. imo, the OS is easy to use and stable. If there's something you want your phone to be able to do (and it's not already part of the base OS), there's an app for that. And you can probably get it for free. If you're already using iTunes, the iPhone syncs right up to that. It's basically like having a computer in your pocket (which is great for when you're standing in long lines).

I have a black iPhone 4 and I love it. I've been using iPhones since the 3 and I've never had a desire to switch, even after fiddling extensively with various Androids owned by my friends. My girlfriend has a white iPhone 4S, and I'm quite jealous (I preordered my 4, so I couldn't choose white). Given the choice, I'd choose white, as I think it's "classier" looking; to me, black is the color that cheap tech products choose to try to look futuristic. I have a white iPad and I've never had a problem with it showing dirt or anything.
As for cases, I've owned a few different models from Case Crown, and I'm currently using the Metallic Glider in yellow. I like having the full cover on the back, and I like that there is a "lip" on the front, so I can set my phone down flat without the glass touching. You can find the cases on Amazon much more cheaply.
I have an LG Cosmos or something. I've debated switching to an iPhone to make accessibility easier but I just don't think it's going to happen until this phone's either broken or I decide it's just not worth keeping anymore.
About Frox: for nearly 10 years, Frox has been helping women look good and feel great in easy-fit, mix-and-match, and work-to-weekend with just a few pieces by helping them make the right choices when it comes to clothing and accessories.
My wife switched from a Droid to an Iphone 4 and now wishes that she didn't. She said the Droid was faster and easier to use.
it all depends on preference. the thing i don't like about apple is having to deal with itunes.
plus i don't like the boxed in feature of iphone either. i like a little more freedom with my phone.
hence why i am going with android and the s3 comes in blue or white so i will probably get the white model.

on a side note at least the I5 is going with the 4.5" screen. they are still getting their processors from samsung though.

I absolutely hate the way Apple forces you to use iTunes.
The way they handle backups, synching and updating is terrible.
It's a huge hassle to update a phone from different computers or multiple users from the same computer.
You are constantly signing out or in to iTunes with your user id.
God forbid that you forget to change and wipe out the stuff another user purchased but you didn't.
Also if you forget to switch id or put an app on another users device they will never be able to update it because they don't have your password.
Makes no sense why you would need a password to update a free app.
The whole tying an app to a specific user causes too many problems.
They should just allow a phone/ app to be updated without caring who is doing it/ where.
I will buy an iPhone. The decision was / is an a priori one TBH.

As someone who used the white iphone for over a year and the black one for over a year I can tell you to go black.
A. White gets dirty and shows marks more.
B. For whatever reason the black made my phone seem brighter.
C. Racism shouldn't ever win, even with phones.
I'm one of the few people I know not to have one. I've always felt a little uncomfortable speaking on the phone, and so never wanted to have a mobile one.
I would recommend not buying an iPhone, frankly. They were the best smart phone for awhile, but they really aren't anymore. The Droid Razr/Razr Maxx, HTC 1/S, Samsung Galaxy S2/S3 are all far superior phones from a technical standpoint. The iPhone has Siri, but from what I've heard from every person that owns it, Siri doesn't really work that well.
The only thing that the iPhone has going for it is that it is a bit easier to use than Android phones. But it is also much less customizable.
It's possible that the iPhone 5 in October or whenever will become the best again, but right now, they are far behind other smartphones.
I have an LG Quantum C900. Bought it off of eBay for $70. It's great for the price, four-row keyboard, moderately fast, battery lasts all day with a little management, and it's a world phone so I've been able to use it as I move around the world.
It's not getting upgrades to Windows Phone 8 [oobviously] and some things don't work, but for $70 I can't complain at all.
If you can afford it, an iPhone is great, but I've never felt that paying however much money in order to have a phone was a good tradeoff.
*edit*
I will also say this: I'm longwinded, and having a full physical keyboard is fantastic.

Having gone through every major phone OS, there are a couple of things I look for:
Ease of use (Windows Phone 7.5 and iOS 5 take the cake)
Battery life (Android OS and Windows Phone 7.5 take the cake)
Call quality (Android takes the cake)
App market (No contest, iOS)
If you're looking to do more with your phone then just play games and text, go for Android. If you're looking for ease of use and don't care about apps, get a Windows Phone. If you want apps and to join the millions of other users, get an iPhone.
Currently I own a Galaxy SII-Skyrocket. I'm seriously contemplating upgrading to the Galaxy SIII, but nothing shown so far has made me want to immediately jump ship.
Another Windows Phone user here. I am using an HTC Titan that I got free from the Smoked by Windows Phone promotion.
One of the most attractive devices I've ever laid eyes on and can be had rather cheaply (in the United States). The CPU is rather dated but *shrug*. I like the 4.7" display the most. Also, very efficiently sized. I've put it next to 4.3" phones and it's the same size or smaller than most of them.
Too bad it won't be receiving WP8. I hope WP7.8 brings something nice. (Well, the bootloader for the Titan is unlocked so it might be able to run other OSes with the help of XDA.) Windows Phone is the place to be if you are a value minded consumer, BTW. Plenty of great devices to choose from all <300 USD on the secondary market.
What are your fave features? What would you like better (or what things could be better about your phone)?
