Nice thread, I wonder why I haven't found it earlier....
Choosing a favorite is a toughie, however.
I am Czech, so I have kind of an affinity for beer. I have tasted over forty local brands, and a couple of others during my travels. I like Czech beer the most, still, being it light, dark, wheat, yeast... the opposite are English ales. Don't wanna touch anything of that EVER. I remember how I had to settle for a Carlsberg lager during my stay in Scotland, because the ales were undrinkable.
Wine. Czech and Moravian vintners are able to produce great white wine, and we developed quite a taste for them with my wife. As for red, I almost do not drink it...if yes, it has to be very good (and contrary to whites, our country does not produce good red wines). The best I have drunk originated from Chile and Argentina.
Spirits: I do not have a preferred brand. My grandfather used to distill a delicious home-made clear spirits from apricots or plums. This plum spirit, slivovice, is kind of a trademark of the region I am living in. Nothing beats the home-made thing.
Two specialties that I have got a taste for thanks to travelling:
Cider. Each time I go to the Isles, I am buying it. Strongbow, Orchard Mill or Blackthorn.
Scotch whisky: LOVE it. Irish is second by a significant step, and I do not drink bourbons at all with the exception of Jack Daniels.
As for Scotch, I like the very, so to say, pronounced and character-strong single malt brands - often the peaty ones. Talisker, Laphroaig, Lagavulin, Dalwhinnie (from what I tasted).
I have tasted honey whisky twice and I have to say that I had also trouble to enjoy it. Not my proverbial cup of tea.

You know you have played M:TG too much when you find yourself calling shotgun "in response" to your friends calling shotgun.
You know your friends have played M:TG too much when you get it.
I love irish red, its the only beer i drink, more specifically- Killian's its cheap yet tasteful.
As for others i love rum (white or spiced) and i love Jager. If jager wasn't so darn expensive i'd prolly drink it alot more than i already do. Alot say it tastes like tar or black licorice...but i love black licorice.
The occasional sake and scotch is always nice.

If you see someone playing a control deck, the following strategy is considered acceptable: 1) Slowly reach upward 2) Grab your opponent firmly by the throat 3) Squeeze 4) ???? 5) Profit...and a fountain of red Kool Aid!!!
Beer is the best and the Best beers are probably
old Rasputin imperial stout, La Fin Du Monde, and Double crooked Tree IPA. Although I do enjoy having a glass or two of wine with my old lady from time to time.

And I'm not changing it. I'm not gonna be browbeated by a moderator, simply because you don't like the fact that I'm bringing to light that the staff suspends half-decent posters, while allowing trolls to run rampant.
Well, you've still got about fourteen hours before you're infracted for noncompliance. Talk to whomever you want.
Favorite Beer: Kilkenny (but I can't find it in the States).
Beer that I can actually afford to drink: Miller Lite
Favorite Shot: French (insert word that starts with a "W", rhymes with "bore", and means "Lady of the Night") - Grey Goose + Chambord
Favorite Cocktails: Sex on the Beach, Midori Sour, Whiskey Sour, Liquid Therapy (original creation of mine: 1/3 Midori, 1/3 Malibu Coconut Rum, 1/3 Pineapple Juice, splash of lemon-lime soda for fizz)
Heh. Maybe you got a bad bottle, because I enjoyed it. I think you'd be happy with the La Trappe dubbel if that's all you can find - it's not too different from Rochefort's 8.
Actually, I found a bottle of their Tripel, which was very good. It's a nice, smooth, light ale. I imagine their Quadrupel tastes stronger. So that's another success.
I don't know, I've heard the adjective "leathery" before with regards to Orval, so I'm inclined to think that's how the beer's supposed to taste. I am not a fan, I must say.
Also, someone needs to explain to me any drink based around mixing alcohol into an energy drink. Exactly what is appealing about going out of your way to mix a drink with a terrible mixer?
I don't see how people like Jack and Coke. a few ice cubes is good enough to mix it with for me. :/
Whenever I drink a mixed drink I always find it gross. I always find myself thinking "wow I'd rather be drinking these separately." :/

Tokyo Tea for those who don't know its a Long Island Ice Tea but instead of Coke ask for Melon. I'm also a big fan of Hypnotiq...when I'm at home since its about 30$ a bottle.
level up is absolute garbage. yes somebody feel free to quote me on this in their sig. NONE OF THE LEVEL UP CARDS SHOWN TODAY WILL SEE COMPETITIVE PLAY OUTSIDE OF LIKE ROE ONLY CONSTRUCTED OR SOME GARBAGE.
I don't see why people mix Jack and Coke. It's Jack Daniels. Why would you mix wonderful whiskey with Coke? Take a bad whiskey and mix it with Coke. Either way, it will taste like Coke.
Just wondering if Chinese Baijiu (literally "white wine") is available in the west. It has a ridiculous price range starting at a dollar a bottle (er gou tuo) to well over a hundred dollars a bottle (Moutai, Wu Long Ye).
It's not actually wine, it's a 100 proof grain liquer that is always shot straight or drunk in bowls.
I've been pissed on this stuff more times than I care to remember. It's far from what I would call my favorite...but it definately is quite an experience to get drunk off it.
You need to try some actually wonderful whiskey then.
I have.
And I would not be so crass as to mix it with Coke. Just drink a Coke, it will taste the same.
So, Extreme, help me out here: I'm pretty sure I've ever had an IPA. I'm going to go ahead and assume you know several good ones.
Also, looking for some St. Bernardus. I'm going to assume the general correlation between strength and quality I'm noticing amongst Belgian Ales still holds?

Although I have always enjoyed Jack and Coke, it wasn't until last year that I really discovered it's one of my favorite drinks. I mean, doesn't help that I like Coke by itself but I feel that Jack compliments it really well, more often then naught I can get pretty messed up off of it and not even realize I'm drinking it, which kinda defies the point of drinking the Jack I guess, but it just tastes really good.
My favorite drink still has to be a good gin and tonic, ever since I started drinking. I'm only 25 and most people my age (espeically girls) just think the drink tastes like Pine Trees and can't appreciate the smoothness of Bombay Sapphire. Which leads me into saying that I am such a snob about it I really can only enjoy Sapphire or better now. I can definitely tell a difference when I order Sapphire in a restaurant and they bring me Tanqueray. Let's not even talk about Beefeater...yuck.

I'm bad at magic, you're bad at magic, and Level 4 Pro Ari Lax is terrible at magic.
So, Extreme, help me out here: I'm pretty sure I've ever had an IPA. I'm going to go ahead and assume you know several good ones.
For the most part, I prefer either ESBs (extra-special bitter, a close relative of IPAs) or double/imperial IPAs. Standard IPAs can get somewhat harsh, and I like how the double/imperial (they're called different things by different brewers) IPAs, while stronger, are actually much smoother, perhaps because of the ramped up alcohol content.
If you can find it, I really like BridgePort, both their IPA and ESB. A way to get an idea of how bitter your IPA will be is to check for an "IBU" number on the label. IBU stands for International Bitterness Units and a higher number generally equates to a more bitter taste.
Also, looking for some St. Bernardus. I'm going to assume the general correlation between strength and quality I'm noticing amongst Belgian Ales still holds?
Pretty much. The St. Bernardus Abt 12 (blue label) is the best one of theirs I've tried.
