Her and several other people were shot in Tucson, Arizona at a grocery store. Several are dead, yet there are conflicting reports (from other news sources) that say that Giffords is either in critical condition from a gunshot wound to the head or is dead. The shooter was a young man in his late teens or early twenties, motives as for why he did this are still unknown.
She's responding to doctors according to the news.

Probably a Tea Party nutjob who did the shooting, considering Giffords was the only reelected politician on Sarah Palin's hitlist of people who voted for the health care bill.
And Oklahoma City was attacked by radical Muslims at this point in the coverage.
It wouldn't surprise me, but I'm waiting until I hear more. The suspect is in his early 20's and that doesn't quite fit the "nutjob teabagger" stereotype.

I heard Palin might be prosecuted for inciting murder. Probably a rumour but anyone else heard anything about it?

Is this sort of reaction really necessary? Even if it is, does it reflect on the party as a whole? Should we blame Rush and Glenn Beck?
This is a tragedy commited by a sick individual, I think we should leave the politics of the situation out of it.
I just feel sorry for those who lost their lives, regardless of this individual's political affiliation or the things that influenced him... and I'm disturbed that there is so much to influence him and others like him to do this kind of thing. I just don't get it. None of it makes any sense.

It was inevitable that after Obama's election the marginalized religious right would form a movement like the Tea Party (and offshoots such as the Birthers).
As the Beck / Limbaugh / FOX News propaganda machines ratcheted up the fear month after month, it was only a matter of time before some impressionable person decided to take the law into their own hands. I watched some of the shooter's youtube videos today and they were eerily similar to those other paranoid, stream of consciousness rants you see from other sociopaths who've decided to go on a killing sprees in the past.
This guy murdered a 9 year old kid among others. Hopefully they give him an old fashioned Arizona bar-be-que. And hopefully this sends a clear message to America that fear breeds irrationality and paranoia.

I think that AL is correct, and Beck/Limbaugh/etc do harbor some blame here. Not a ton of blame, but some. I can't say that this is solely their fault, because people like this guy are inevitably going to be set off somehow. But it was still their despicable message that DID set him off.
The problem is that they will never consider the notion that they are even REMOTELY responsible for this. They'll just say 'it is just words, words can't hurt anyone'. Which is more or less true. But if this guy would have been on the left side of the fence, they would find some Democrat(probably Michael Moore) to blame and wouldn't stop talking about it for a year.
Hopefully this is a lesson to everyone to take care in what you say. Even when you're just speaking with hyperbole, there is someone that will take you seriously.
No just no. I hate Sarah Palin and all that she stands for but it is not her fault some ☺☺☺☺ decided to start shooting at elected officials.
This is the work of one or two nutjobs acting alone. A tragedy has happened and it will not help anything to start pointing fingers. Remember Columbine?
No one knows what Laughner's mental state was before and at the time of the shooting and until all the facts are put forth there is no use blaming people.

I want AL to back up his alligations. if he wasn't a mod i would report him for obvious trolling. Since reporting him would do no good it doesn't matter.
They are still looking into the reason, but i am not surprised.
this guy is more of a militarist than would be part of the tea party movement. Reports are saying that he is just against the establishment in general. complained about not being on the gold standard etc...

Proof or evidence of this? i have listened to all 3 of them and i have never heard of them condoning anyone to go out and shoot someone else. In fact all 3 of them are very much against violence and all 3 believe change happens at the polls not at the end of a gun.

Someone attempts to assassinate a politician, so we should leave politics out of it? He just happened to be walking by a Democratic politician when he thought "You know, I feel like killing something"? Does anyone else remember the dude who entered the Unitarian church and opened fire? Does anyone else remember the dude who flew his plane into the IRS building?
I don't know the reasons this man committed these attacks, and I think it is premature to make any claims with any degree of certainty.
That being said, I hope this does bring up another issue. Even if they weren't the cause of these attacks, I hope people realize that politicians and political figures should not be blatantly calling for murder.
Proof or evidence of this? i have listened to all 3 of them and i have never heard of them condoning anyone to go out and shoot someone else. In fact all 3 of them are very much against violence and all 3 believe change happens at the polls not at the end of a gun.
Have you ever heard of implication or insinuation? Beck and Limbaugh do this all the time. They imply that the government is some shadowy, socialist figure out to rob people of their religion and guns. Here's some quotes, since you're so intent on proof:
''Barack Obama ... chose to use his name Barack for a reason -- to identify, not with America -- you don't take the name Barack to identify with America. You take the name Barack to identify with what? Your heritage? The heritage, maybe, of your father in Kenya, who is a radical? Is -- really? Searching for something to give him any kind of meaning, just as he was searching later in life for religion.''—Glenn Beck, ''The Glenn Beck Program,'' Feb. 4, 2010
''Some may believe we're on the road to the Hitler youth.''—Glenn Beck, on teaching kids about climate change, Fox News's Glenn Beck show, Feb. 5, 2009
''Al Gore's not going to be rounding up Jews and exterminating them. It is the same tactic, however. The goal is different. The goal is globalization...And you must silence all dissenting voices. That's what Hitler did. That's what Al Gore, the U.N., and everybody on the global warming bandwagon [are doing].''—Glenn Beck on his radio show, May 1, 2007
''This is fascism. This is what happens when you merge special interests, corporations, and the government. This is what happens. And if people like you don't take a stand...at some point, you know what poem keeps going through my mind is 'First they came for the Jews.' People, all of us are like, well, this news doesn't really affect me. Well, I'm not a bondholder. Well, I'm not in the banking industry. Well, I'm not a big CEO. Well, I'm not on Wall Street. Well, I'm not a car dealer. I'm not an autoworker. Gang, at some point they're going to come for you.''—Glenn Beck, on closures of auto dealerships under the bankruptcy deals of GM and Chrysler, ''The Glenn Beck Program,'' June 10, 2009
"Guess what? Faisal Shahzad is a registered Democrat. I wonder if his SUV had an Obama sticker on it." --Rush Limbaugh, lying about the failed Times Square car bomber, who is not registered to vote, May 4, 2010
"Obama's got a health care logo that's right out of Adolf Hitler's playbook ... Adolf Hitler, like Barack Obama, also ruled by dictate." --Rush Limbaugh, Aug. 6, 2009
Surely such incendiary rhetoric can't manifest itself in the general populace! Oh wait....

The guy was obsessed with both communism and fascism (along with Nazism) - there was an absurd clash of political ideals in his ramblings. While I don't believe the ex-classmate chick on twitter calling him "extremely liberal" (or anything she said really), he probably was not with the tea party at all.
The guy thought he had mind control powers, the government attempted mind control by grammar, that the US should drop the fed, and many other things. While he specifically targeted Giffords, we'll probably never know the reason why.

These are some of the main points that he makes in his very brief youtube videos. None of it is coherent, nobody is sure what his intent is. But being the fact that his favorite books are also some of the favorite books cited by Illuminati conspiracy theorists, it might not be too far fetched to suggest that he believed in a New World Order and believed the Obama Administration is a part of that.
Of course it doesn't excuse his actions. But it might be able to get us one step closer to understanding his motivations.
Really, comparing them to Hitler isn't inciting violence? What exactly IS it meant to incite then?
Nonviolent revolution. He's like a founding father in that he wants to avoid violence but by the way he speaks you can tell he fears it might be necessary somewhere down the road. However he's stated clearly that isn't the case now.
"Big brother is coming to take away your freedom and guns."
Nope, no inciting there.
No, he actually explains, whether or not we agree with him, his solutions. Get active in politics and your community, not resort to murder and violence.

I think one of the saddest things about today is how it will permanently destroy a fabric of our democracy.
One of the things that made this country great were political representatives actually willing to meet and listen to those they are elected to represent openly and in the public.
You have to think that completely changes after the tragic events that took place today.
Same thing happened to a man named Robert Kennedy many years ago, and I don't think it changed the way politicians deal with the public.
I've seen the offender's Youtube videos, and I truly believe he was insane. I don't think it's possible to rationally put a political spin on this (and shame on anyone who does).
That's not the definition of tea party nutjob. That's not even the definition of follower of the tea party movement.
Seems the name is Jared Loughner and he has posted a youtube maniphesto. He comes off as quite crazy. Not crazy because of some political movement, just crazy crazy.

Go to Google. Search: "Bush Hitler." Click "images."
Count how many Bush = Hitler pics you find. I found about 20 or so before I got bored.
Everyone who disagrees with anyone compares that person to Hitler. In politics at least. That's just the way it goes, for whatever reason.
