I think we've known for a while now that he didn't have a lot of time left. He was well before my time so I don't really have much of an opinion of him as a president but it's still sad to see him go, even if it wasn't much of a surprise.

I sort of guessed this would be coming soon, last I heard he wasnt that great healthwise and would probably lose it soon. I though am in the same boat as extremeicon, he was a bit before my time, so I didnt know him as a president, but from what I heard, its sad to hear him go.

I can't say that I know a lot about Ford (although he did pardon Nixon), but there were two great SNL sketches about him: one, the infamous fall sketch, and the other, the one where Tom Brokaw is going over all these different scenarios for Gerald Ford's death. R.I.P.
Not great, but I think the word "Steward" aptly describes his presidency. He took the office from a disgusting man and manned the post aptly until he time was passed. He oversaw the end of US action in Vietnam, a pullout Nixon had somewhat "started" (though he also started Laos and Cambodia).
My favorite quote of his would have to be "I'm a Ford, not a Lincoln", though I also like his answer to Mexican-descended singer Vikki Carr asking him "What is your favorite Mexican dish?"

I wasn't alive when he was in office, so I can't really tell by what is avaible for me to read/interview if he was a good president or not. The best I can tell, was that he was an ok guy, and an ok person. RIP

Seeing as how his presidency predated my birth by a good decade or so, I'd have to go with extremeicon in my opinion of him.
I will, however, always remember him as that lovable scamp who made a guest appearance on the Simpsons.

I'm old enough to remember seeing Gerald Ford on TV. Right after kojak.
