Can't blame new people for wanting to vote me, since they're not familiar with my town meta.
Can't blame old people for wanting to vote me, because my new town meta of being work burnt-out is exactly what was previously my scum meta, as CC stated.
So...that's not a good situation.
Only posting atm due to being a bit too exhausted to work further. Went to sleep at 8:30 pm from exhaustion, but then woke up at 2 a.m. from congestion/dried out mouth. Couldn't get back to sleep, so I worked. Ran a hearing at 9, and immediately afterwards, our brand new law clerk bailed on us to accept a more prestigious position, which together with folks being out on maternity leave, puts us -2 down on support staff, or at about half what we should have. Our poor office manager was already slowly going insane and our law clerk had been a huge help to her.
Solutions in the works, but boy, does the prospect of actually getting to take some maternity leave seem more and more remote. And the limited non-working time I have, I'm usually doing things that do NOT feel like an intimidating amount of work, which at the amount, does NOT include doing a bunch of eye-bleeding PBPA work.
I have super strong townie opinions as always, if you need them, sure, can share and indicate posts associated with that. But I'm a little reticent, since I'm seeing some of those really obviously (to me) townie people getting picked on here and there, and I don't particularly want to give the scum tips on how not to get themselves murdered by me really, really slowly and ponderously.
I know I wasn't active, I can play today all day and make myself useful, same answer for everyone who put me in the Poe
I have to admit a tardiness in reading because again I tried to understand each post and I went back every time to the reference post.
I like what you said about meta in P#129 'I am a verbal/constant both in games and outside of them about not using meta', meta it's not set in stone and reads only based on meta are not usually accurate fmpov.
@Rhand - P#145 the RP makes again hard to understand what you want to say, for me your sentence there 'GJ be town' looks like a prod and if I am right I wish to know the intent behind it
@Vaimes - p#185 about KJ 'Innocent until proven guilty, is how I usually handle him.'
How do you usually find the proof for him being villagery or guilty?
Tammy's self meta is sustained by others from what I understood and this looks good, P#197 looked like she is focused on the game
From the first pages I liked Sloth, Tammy, GJ and KJ
Scum leans on Rhand (the RP makes posts hard to get) and Wisp
Can someone, actually like a few people give a summery of the game state? It seems wisp has claimed some kind of vampire,
Do you guys do read lists? I'd love to just see everyone give an ordered list of town to scum at this point, or link to a recent list if you already made one.
I don't want to come off as (more of) a dick, but read. 17 players giving you a read list, when we have under a week to lynch (and unlike MU, we function on majority, not plurality for the deadline, so no maj = no lynch). I am even quote on my own short list on this very page.
Summary of the game is that there hasn't been any real hard discussion. RVS - individual hunting - LW claiming neutral when he thought I was unfairly getting pressured, CC is the currently the most popular wagon via votes. Deadline in 6 days and some odd hours.
To be clear I'll vote anyone not in my "not executing toDay" list to secure one
I.e. I'm willing to vote over half the game rn but I'd prefer to flip one of the three I named
Re: GJ/Azrael teams... maybe?
Like, I kind of think wolf!GJ runs with the opportunity to distance I gave him in that world but it depends how deeply you're trying to pretend you're a villager
So, I guess put me down for "unlikely but not impossible"
@Vaimes
What's your thoughts on CC saying that Rhand is joking around too much? Cause in my opinion that is just not true? And based on your answer does that change how you feel about the slot. I just feel like you are avoiding CC at this point
I'm avoiding [opening] CC['s ISO and reading and doing work].
Just based on my vague memory of Rhand, I disagree with him, so.
He has like 20 posts. You can do it. I have faith.
KoolKoal: Feel free to take this with a grain of salt since self meta isn't particularly helpful, but I think I get scumread mostly for style over substance, but also for a certain lack of substance over style. It's not so much what I AM posting most of the time (though sometimes that can seem bad) but what I'm NOT posting. I've been told I come to non-obvious conclusions a lot, so when I post, quite a bit of the time there's jumps in logic that people can't follow and they think that's scummy. I get that accusation about a lot of questions I ask specifically. People call them "busy work" when the questions are legit etc.
As far as things to ignore, I can't think of anything. I would suggest you focus less on what I'm doing and more on how I'm doing it. That's probably more likely to be accurate. Like I've just said, what I do tends to come off a little weird, but if you look for how I do it, mindset comes into play and maybe you figure out something useful.
To be clear I'll vote anyone not in my "not executing toDay" list to secure one
I.e. I'm willing to vote over half the game rn but I'd prefer to flip one of the three I named

I'll endorse this theory if it results in you lynching GJ.
To be clear, the most suspicious thing you've done on the last three pages is this coy song and dance where you throw heavy stones, but lack the fortitude to actually call me scum.
So which is it, GJ? Am I "bad", "weird", or "scummy"? Make up your mind how best to scum-wriggle away from a dangerous confrontation please. As townie, I'd have expected to see some much different, bolder reactions than this overly cautious, conservative sniping.
I would Vote: GJ but my mobile keyboard lacks brackets apparently. Don't worry sloth, I'll be back to pegging you with dire and ominous and lackadaisical threats soon enough.
Can someone, actually like a few people give a summery of the game state? It seems wisp has claimed some kind of vampire,

I did one with my Grand Catch-Up Posts (TM). I think that was somewhere between pages 12 and 16.
<snip>
Don't remember why I quoted this but I am in favor of lynching scum rather than a claimed Neutral on D1.
<snip>
@WakeMeUp: Nice to meet you, as well. I don't play over on MU, but I do have one important question for you: Inside, When September Ends, or Before You Go Go?
<snip>
Agree with not lynching Wisp
Inside is my favorite, I have When september ends in my heart too for a reason and Before you go go is the kind I want to listen on the beach in a summer day.
I would prefer to have a real game related question from you

I have vague recollections of a CC being a terrible, terrible mistake.
Also, indubitably, CC is not GJ and is therefore a suboptimal lynch.
But seriously, CC's not scum. He's doing things like wanting to kill Sloth for all the right reasons AND things like wanting to kill me for all the right wrong reasons. Natural thought processes out the wazoo. See no reason for this.

I am bored, so lets pull out all the statements that make GJ lose townie points
Quote from GJ »
Why aren't you calling him out on him being skeptical of me not metaing in KJ? You both are aware I don't regard meta almost, at all, and you are well aware of that, as is Wisp.
well that's it, maybe I am a bit of a shallow reader, weird given how much I hated him at the start, but since that was mostly tone, I am not surprised. Where exactly does he call Azreal weird?
He has used that descriptor for other people as well I think, so like meh
@WMU That post was meant to say I thought GJ was town. “is” becomes “be” in the pirate translator I was using.
The reason for my roleplay is that I tend to take mafia too seriously and wanted to try to have more fun with it like tom does.
I think the mafia team is within CC, tubba, Bur, Azrael, WMU, BoomFrog, Cantrip.
@Cantrip I am always allergic to people distancing themselves from town
And were it anyone but HR, I'd agree that it looked like distancing, but I feel like HR does this in every game I've been in with him, so it's hard for me to see it as AI.
I asked because in 626 it sounded like you were counting "us villagers" and coming up with 16, which is (obviously) silly. But you corrected that in 629 and--still presumably counting town players, regardless of whether you're coming from your perspective or pretending to be Tubba--started at 18, subtracted "the self" (17) subtracted the mafia (assuming 4) (13), and subtract the neutral (12). If you're trying to emphasize how many town there are in the game (and therefore how silly it is to get worked up about one or two of them dying), then subtracting the (obviously, from either your personal perspective or you-being-Tubba perspective) doesn't help. It would feel more natural to say "why worry about 1-2 town when there are 13 in the game". I just don't understand why you'd subtract the self when trying to make that point.
I don't really see how this matters, unless you think idk I'm scum that accidentally slipped Tubba's town? I don't think it's all that weird, I try to look at it from an outsider's perspective when counting bodies/alignments, so I used "self" rather than "you" or "me."
As for your alignment, I had you pretty high on my list to start, but then when I iso'd your posts, there wasn't a lot there, so I'm re-evaluating. Your subtracting the self comment didn't feel like something that would come from a town mentality (and your explanation doesn't feel natural, either). @Vaimes @Rhand Both of you think that phrase, coming from "it's the world versus me" HR in particular, is indicative of him being scum?
??????????
Okay so am I scum or not? I would like a direct answer.
I think I've made my thoughts on the game pretty clear. Is there anything you disagree with?
I erred in my last post when I said "I had you pretty high on my list to start, but then when I iso'd your posts, there wasn't a lot there, so I'm re-evaluating." For some reason, I've always felt like you and Silver were very similar in playstyle, and I tend to confuse the two of you frequently. I had Silver pretty high, and then I looked back at his posts and there wasn't much there. You're obviously wrong thinking I'm mafia, but I can understand why you think that. I've been trying to sort you off the little things I've noticed in your posts, but for now, you're a mild townlean.
man Cantrip really had only one post before Chad voted him, and it wasn't even his wall...
like How does that happened
Quote from Cantrip »
I think Chad has a >rand chance to be scum, mostly based on their "most of [Cantrip's] early posts struck me as odd" when I'd only made one post. Some reservations here, though, because I could see some town paranoia after the recent game he mentioned.
what reseverations... you literally made an RVS vote kinda? like that post doesn't even compare to your overall play as "any" alignment at all, especially not your wolf game, so ya, this response confuses me
My reservations would come from him possibly being town and just being suspicious of me in general, based on my scum play in the game he just modded.
@Cantrip
Can you revisit this read on CC at some point? since you know CC is the top train and everything (small edit in the question)
like if Chad really wanted to start off with a vote on Cantrip, because, "He is scary", without mentioning the posts, or somehow misrepresenting the amount he posted, it probably would have looked better. It just looks so forced
Quote from Chad »
d Chad has like no relevant content aside from his wallpost, which isn't even especially towny.
that is pretty subjective, so what about the people like GJ? who think that post was good? Despite my thoughts on that slot, I still feel as if you've been a bit lazy as of late, and I don't particularly like it
I swear if this is all some garbage scum theater sandwich, I will be highly disappointed
I just reread CC's iso, and I'm not getting real strong town or scum vibes from him. I still see his early exchanges with KJ as more likely coming from town wanting to "be right" than from scum pushing a bad idea. Probably the elements I find the most suspicious are that he's voted Sloth and is voting Rhand, both of whom I have townleans on. I'm not opposed to voting CC to avoid a yeetless day, but he's not at the bottom of the pile for me.
@CC: Why is Cuth town?
@Bur: Why does it feel like you have no teeth this game?
Here's my pile:
Tammy
Sloth
KJ
Iso
Rhand
GJ
Highroller
Vaimes
Tubba
Silver
Cuth
CC
Wisp
Bur
WMU
Az
Boomfrog
Boomfrog's entrance and subsequent posts have been super underwhelming. I'm all for letting them catch up, but I think that Chad was scummy enough that a vote is warranted, and if that pressures Boom to post, so much the better.
@Cantrip
can I ask you a question, it might be a bit weird/hard, but explain to me in your mind how town!CC reads Rhand's posts and comes to this conclusion
Quote from CC »
Rhand has been posting a lot of fluff and joking more then hunting. Half his posts this game rub me the wrong way. Then bouncing from barning Iso to vote me without an explanation to the half-hearted push on Tubba, and then a lot of wasted energy arguing with Highroller. It all feels like he's trying to look like he's hunting more than actual hunting. Mostly a gut read, but the one I feel strongest.
particularly the bolded
I still don't believe that he needed to add all that, he could've been like, "Cantrip is a scary player, here is my rvs", but he tried to put an argument around it, that wasn't even true, so ya I didn't get the reservations you were talking about, but thanks for the response

I've been targeted by CropCircles' PM ability. He claims to be the wife of my character. We are now sort-of masons. I have reason to believe he's telling the truth about his role identity, though I don't have any information on his alignment.
Also, very tempted to state my town reads aloud, because there are a lot of obvious tells coming out, but I think they're probably still best discussed via secret chat, given this particular setup.
If the wrong person gets strung up, I'll say something, probably as we get towards endgame that becomes unavoidable, but I think I'd much rather concentrate on scum targets at this stage.
@Highroller
I’m with you, I think you are right and Wisp should die. I can also see that that’s just not going to happen and we should move on content with being morally and intellectually superior.
Nope, someone has to get the town to stop being foolish. Not to mention if everyone who agreed that Wisp should die at some point were to vote Wisp now, he'd be the plurality.
Can everyone currently voting CropCircles who is not named GJ or Killjoy please explain why they're voting CropCircles?

@HR - one of the primary things that make scum stick out like sore thumbs is not being able to replicate town reads.
When they don't have actual town townie reads to emulate and help them avoid making obvious targeting mistakes, that situation worsens. They hit players who are obc townies more often, and incriminate themselves.
In this setup, where townies may be able to pass info privately on their town reads, many of the benefits of town reads persist while the disadvantages can be mitigated. This is probably more relevant for townies who tend to have very strong feelings about their town reads, such as myself.
I have vague recollections of a CC being a terrible, terrible mistake.

1). I found this bravado just as laughable in the invitational as I do now. All you have succeeded in doing to me, counciler is prove to me that any reads furthermore that you think you can have on me should be deferred to another person in your practice.
2). I hated the flavor post. I also said it wasn't flavor indicative. Townie players can have bad posts, wolfie players can have town posts. Honestly, as ******* annoying and eye rolling as I find your false bravado on me, I feel like that comes from a townier Azrael than a non town one, annoying posts aside.
I've been targeted by CropCircles' PM ability. He claims to be the wife of my character. We are now sort-of masons. I have reason to believe he's telling the truth about his role identity, though I don't have any information on his alignment.

How would CC know they are your wife?
Also, the word you are looking for is neighbors, not masons.
If that person had literal wit, they might try to convince someone on their wagon they think is misled.
Rhand, you've been losing a bit of stock with me. CC voting you is probably the most recent thing I can think of that has made you town, but the list feels a touch lazy. You don't think there is a single active voice/deep wolf?
@Cantrip
can I ask you a question, it might be a bit weird/hard, but explain to me in your mind how town!CC reads Rhand's posts and comes to this conclusion

I don't agree with what he said, but I don't think it can't come from town. Maybe it can't come from town!CC specifically, but I don't think I have much--if any--experience with CC. Maybe from my very earliest days?
Although...there does seem to be a bit of a disconnect between him listing several "real" reasons to vote Rhand and then pushing it off as "mostly a gut read". I also felt like his paragraph on Az in that post was more strongly reasoned than his paragraph on Rhand.

Fair point. I've probably just gotten used to the roller coaster of "have a good scum game", "have to battle overflow suspicions from that game in the subsequent one".
@Wisp: Why do you feel more invested in this game where you're a (claimed) third party role than in any other game I've played with you?
@Cantrip bruh why you vote Chadslot as soon as I leave it. Not cool.
Obviously to be contrary.
But it's all good. I think it's unlikely that scum!you doesn't at least level some suspicion on me going "oops, I made a read on you because I thought you were Silver", so you just moved up in the townleans.
@Cantrip
I am always invested in my mafia games, to the point where I can't even stop reading them unless I force myself to go on v/la lol, I'd be a lot more invested if not for the WoW expansion taking up literally all my free time

I try to have more fun in a game myself and one thing into that direction is taking it slower.
I am probably the only one who didn't understand your posts here, thanks for the clarification.
When I will finish to read all the posts I will post my own Poe.
@Cantrip you are my strongest town read and I found my self nodding along to your post and I get why you voted me at the end. But I'm not going to put a lot of energy into this game, especially D1. I'm here out of respect for the game, and that mod kills suck, but this game isn't going to be a priority for me. If we get down the line and I'm still here and we have a smaller group I'll put in the effort, but D1 with a large game with all new to me players, I'm having trouble keeping people literally sorted, let alone sorting alignments.

Maybe invested isn't the right word...engaged? You just seem to be making more frequent and stronger points and pushes than you usually do, which doesn't feel like a shift that would come from someone randing a 3pr.

Ok, I'll bite: why am *I* your strongest town read?
I wasn't gonna say it in case it came off as rude but it sounds like a scumfession tbh.
If there's any Day to put more effort into, it is exactly Day 1. I rank it higher than lylo because you can always win before then if you have a good Day 1.

Eh, I usually focus on a group of people. Read every comment, but trying to keep track of 17 otther people will break what little bit of my brain is left after all the booze.
I have "GJ's hottake is that Vaimes is mafia" as a free space on my MTGS mafia bingo card.
I in general don't like fluff posting.
But I was right last game, wasn't I

I have vague recollections of a CC being a terrible, terrible mistake.
Also, indubitably, CC is not GJ and is therefore a suboptimal lynch.
But seriously, CC's not scum. He's doing things like wanting to kill Sloth for all the right reasons AND things like wanting to kill me for all the right wrong reasons. Natural thought processes out the wazoo. See no reason for this.

I also don't even know what other trains we have
rock paper scissors for my vote on your target lol
well that's it, maybe I am a bit of a shallow reader, weird given how much I hated him at the start, but since that was mostly tone, I am not surprised. Where exactly does he call Azreal weird?
He has used that descriptor for other people as well I think, so like meh
The reason for my roleplay is that I tend to take mafia too seriously and wanted to try to have more fun with it like tom does.
I think the mafia team is within CC, tubba, Bur, Azrael, WMU, BoomFrog, Cantrip.
And were it anyone but HR, I'd agree that it looked like distancing, but I feel like HR does this in every game I've been in with him, so it's hard for me to see it as AI.
See above.
Yes, but I've learned that they're not always guaranteed to come from scum.
My reservations would come from him possibly being town and just being suspicious of me in general, based on my scum play in the game he just modded.
@CC: Why is Cuth town?
Vote: Boomfrog
can I ask you a question, it might be a bit weird/hard, but explain to me in your mind how town!CC reads Rhand's posts and comes to this conclusion
particularly the bolded
I still don't believe that he needed to add all that, he could've been like, "Cantrip is a scary player, here is my rvs", but he tried to put an argument around it, that wasn't even true, so ya I didn't get the reservations you were talking about, but thanks for the response
Those Days are long past.

You sound way to confident in your read on CC to match this statement
What does any of this even mean?
Nope, someone has to get the town to stop being foolish. Not to mention if everyone who agreed that Wisp should die at some point were to vote Wisp now, he'd be the plurality.
Can everyone currently voting CropCircles who is not named GJ or Killjoy please explain why they're voting CropCircles?
Color me skeptical.
3). Figure out another lynch boyo.
4). (OoG, hope everything is going well)
The GJ way path to no lynching:
How would CC know they are your wife?
Also, the word you are looking for is neighbors, not masons.
The GJ way path to no lynching:
@Cantrip bruh why you vote Chadslot as soon as I leave it. Not cool.
Rhand, you've been losing a bit of stock with me. CC voting you is probably the most recent thing I can think of that has made you town, but the list feels a touch lazy. You don't think there is a single active voice/deep wolf?
The GJ way path to no lynching:
Although...there does seem to be a bit of a disconnect between him listing several "real" reasons to vote Rhand and then pushing it off as "mostly a gut read". I also felt like his paragraph on Az in that post was more strongly reasoned than his paragraph on Rhand.
Fair point. I've probably just gotten used to the roller coaster of "have a good scum game", "have to battle overflow suspicions from that game in the subsequent one".
@Wisp: Why do you feel more invested in this game where you're a (claimed) third party role than in any other game I've played with you?
Yes; why do you ask?
Obviously to be contrary.
But it's all good. I think it's unlikely that scum!you doesn't at least level some suspicion on me going "oops, I made a read on you because I thought you were Silver", so you just moved up in the townleans.
If CC isn't yeeted toDay, I fully endorse you pinging him toMorrow.
I am always invested in my mafia games, to the point where I can't even stop reading them unless I force myself to go on v/la lol, I'd be a lot more invested if not for the WoW expansion taking up literally all my free time
also thanks for the response to my question
I try to have more fun in a game myself and one thing into that direction is taking it slower.
I am probably the only one who didn't understand your posts here, thanks for the clarification.
When I will finish to read all the posts I will post my own Poe.
Also, BoomFrog is probably mafia trying to pocket Cantrip. Which makes Cantrip town.
I kinda skimmed last [several] pages, so I got the gist of it.
@Wisp: The "wit" that you are hunting for, it's the name of an ability, or...?
I threw up in my mouth a little bit. He has like 7 posts.
The GJ way path to no lynching:
Ok, I'll bite: why am *I* your strongest town read?
If there's any Day to put more effort into, it is exactly Day 1. I rank it higher than lylo because you can always win before then if you have a good Day 1.
Eh, I usually focus on a group of people. Read every comment, but trying to keep track of 17 otther people will break what little bit of my brain is left after all the booze.
