He be frustrated 'cause me roleplay makes it hard t' read me. 'tis a town tell.[/b]
Or he's just annoyed it and it has nothing to do with trying to solve you.
I remember a scum game I was in where I was RPing HK47 from Star Wars, and my scum buddy got annoyed at me for it.
And mine was literally just putting Query: and Statement: in front of questions and sentences respectively.
My point is it's probably too simple of a tell to be really revealing here.
Quote from Lieutenant Johnathon »
I am poking at you for what appears to be posts that aren't trying to solve. I don't like how you fell back into the excuse of "no one else is solving". You might be right to an extent, but what I was expecting to happen was either you do start attempting to solve (either falsely or genuinely) or you don't, and then I have to play the game of trying to guess if you are a wolf trying to seem confidant in the face of pressure , or if you are just a lazy town person.
My personal flaw is that in the case of the latter, I don't care.
I almost immediately want to retract my read of Bur. Actually with KJ on this one, that it rings slightly fake to me.
I mean, I'm not sure what you want from me here. There was nothing I wanted to persue, so I didn't. I can't think of a way I could have force the game forword from there. Ask questions? Been there, used to do that, nothing comes of that. So I didn't.
It's unreasonable to expect much more I think.
Do you think those two situations (confident wolf, lazy town) are the only two possible here?

Lampshade hanging is a writing trick to draw attention to something unwanted (usually something that the writer can't/won't explain to readers) and joke about it and/or pretend it doesn't exist afterwards.
Basically saying "yeah, yeah, I'm mafia" when you actually are mafia.
And assuming 16-man game has 4 mafia, the chance to have one in randomly picked subset of 4 is ~48,4% unless I did my math wrong. (You guys are confusing expected value and actual probability)
If you want a proper explanation on probabilities, I can delve into it with you somewhere else than this game thread.
That's... part of it. Yes, you're claiming that you're mafia, but you're doing it with some neuance. It's self-concious, but also not completely serious. Actually it's a bit of what people are on Cantrip for, but I'm scumreading yours a bit more because it's a bit more subtle.
I was more interested in your take on the actual discussion, not the math per se. Do you think that CC saying it's akin to picking at random to claim there's scum in a formed wagon is wrong? I personally think his take on it is unfairly dismissive of Silver's point. Do you agree?
KoolKoal: Feel free to take this with a grain of salt since self meta isn't particularly helpful, but I think I get scumread mostly for style over substance, but also for a certain lack of substance over style. It's not so much what I AM posting most of the time (though sometimes that can seem bad) but what I'm NOT posting. I've been told I come to non-obvious conclusions a lot, so when I post, quite a bit of the time there's jumps in logic that people can't follow and they think that's scummy. I get that accusation about a lot of questions I ask specifically. People call them "busy work" when the questions are legit etc.
As far as things to ignore, I can't think of anything. I would suggest you focus less on what I'm doing and more on how I'm doing it. That's probably more likely to be accurate. Like I've just said, what I do tends to come off a little weird, but if you look for how I do it, mindset comes into play and maybe you figure out something useful.

@Rhand: I was actually scum in a Micro recently. With tom. The most recent Token. Not in a regular game for quite a while though
@Wisp: I was meaning to ask you: Do you have any entrance based reads?
Also I recall you saying you could easliy read Chad. Is he scum or no?
@CropCircles: So, Sloth makes the same point that I do, and he's shading you. Why am I not in that same boat?

Because you and I just disagree on the math. I didn't see you half-heartedly shading a large group of people the way Sloth did. And your responses come across as genuine to me. I still think you are wrong, but the whole exchange has led me to lean town on you.
@Tammy: Have you formed an opinion on GJ yet? You were kinda going back and forth trying to clarify what he was thinking... did that do anything for you?
Oh gosh no. Where I'm at right now is that I feel like there's something rotten in the whispers of a deposed monarch, and I'm not sure if it's one, both, or neither at this moment. I don't like the argument that it was wolfy that you didn't find anything to move the game forward with by page two. Think that's a silly thing to push for that early in the game. (As an aside, scumGJ kind of defended Axelrod on a similar attack where someone though Axel hadn't been memorable by page three and he kind of scoffed at that. Not sure what to do with that in relation to this though, maybe nothing.) I didn't like the frustration at Rhand's rp because it didn't feel real. Oh and I didn't like the comment where he complained that he was doing more solving than anyone; though I could see this coming from either alignment.
That's really flimsy though and it could really add up to nothing quite frankly. It's just that something feels wrong? And it might more be the interaction between him and whisper? Whisper feels kinda posturey about things, like he's grandstanding. This is both in relation to you and to Johnny. I think whisper missed Silver's point that you're unlikely to self resolve by day three because there might be higher priority nk targets because he kinda sidestepped that point to grandstand about how he can leave you until day three and he doesn't want to hear about Johnny's question stuff regarding you. I got a similar feeling about his comment about Johnny's lack of vote. If Johnny is telling the truth about him being a conservative voter and Whisper has played with him several times then how does that go unnoticed? I might be projecting here, but I'm a conservative voter myself and it gets brought up nearly every game I play, either by people teasing me about it or questioning it because they find it suspicious. So even if he did know that Johnny was a conservative voter, and still wanted to call him out for not voting at that moment, why was his response to Johnny saying he was a conservative voter, "Cool, I'm not". The response just felt super posturey and not really the response you'd have to a scum read? IDK it just felt off. So then I was like is there some distancing going on here?
So that's where I'm at, nothing concrete, something feels off, don't know if it means anything for sure but stay tuned for my next episode where I decide what flavor syrup to put on my waffles. It'll be riveting.
killjoy - is that micro purity token game the only scum game you've had here or your only scum game? (I'm guessing from what you said about rp that you've played scum besides just that game, but I'm not sure if that's here or elsewhere.)

I stopped doing that, since they aren't anything I can really push, but GFs and High roller have the worst entrances by far, and gun to my head, Shinichi is probably town
So, not really a fan of the more recent ISO votes because it feels like a trend scum are just jumping on for *****s and giggles.
Vaimes voting me, is a town tell for me and me only. I've developed a connection with him and from that I gained the ability to tell when vaimes is town or scum.
Not sure how I feel about GJ, is #54 serious from him or just a joke. Not sure where the Tubba town lean comes from, seeing as how they had one post.
KJ can continue ***** posting, its funny to read. Eventually, I'll care enough to start giving him ***** about it. Looks like hes not happy about GJ post, I wanna lean this more towards a town KJ based on reaction alone.
Cantrip #60 about the Tammy vote being serious or not, has me feeling weird because I just got out of hosting a game where he was scum. So I have a new world view of cantrip scum game.
Silvercrys commented on RVS, while everyone is just voting ISO should probably explain why RVS is so *****ty.
Not sure why Tammy thinks RVS is for ***** posting, yet people state its supposed to create discussion lol. I'll admit that their view on KJ talking about RVS has me tihnking because its's something I overlooked, not sure how I feel about it.
Cuthalions vote on Cantrip is more to my liking and will prob be where I go after I finish catching up if nothing else catches my eye.
Sloth town leaning a post from KJ where it just states hes trying to get the game rolling should be NAI, but he isntead town leans it. Why?
Wisp explain scum GJ to me.
Why is vaimes voting cantrip, I want him to only vote me #VaimesCheated
Vaimes #107, explain why KJ Wisp and Silver are in your circle?
Sloth voting General Johnny is the best thing to happen in this game, and I wanna say why does town sloth **** up a vote that badly. Is he town? That is the real question?
Pretty sure GJ is just town here, #129 kind of just solidifies that read.
Tammy is a villager if she puts maple syrup on waffles and a wolf if she uses anything else
Not really seeing that, based on GJ #129 which feels like a very natural interaction between both of them.I've been wrong about my brother before and I lean him more towards the chance of being scum this game than GJ based on pages 1 & 2, that being said, I think both are just town.
I should probably just vote cantrip here, most of his early posts struck me as odd. Based on seeing him play as scum, I kinda get deja vu reading him here.

129 is a good post but what makes it town to you? Also 129 is an interaction between sloth and gj not wisp though Gj does talk about wisp. Why does that post make you think gj and wisp are town?
Cantrip has had one post. What was odd about that post?
GJ is probably a wolf because his entrance was too fluffy for my liking, and in my personal opinion, he feels like he is flailing around
also stuff like, "Why did you poke at me and not Wisp", is just very deflective. I could probably pick out more bad stuff and some good stuff, but I am leaving for work soon

Cantrip has had one post. What was odd about that post?
I was more talking about his response about wisp in that interaction, wasn't to concerned with Sloth in that context. It felt authentic and the way GJ addressed it plus dropped a town lean on wisp feels just right.
It's that one post that comes off as off-putting to me, plus to need to ask the question about where he placed his vote is very sketchy
I am also not a fan of going straight to, "Everyone expects so much", so early, but that could easily just be a personality thing, since I would and have done that prematurely as town before.
Personally I like Vaimes' PoE, I don't expect too much from Silver since he is only human, and has been wrong on me before, and others. I am just looking at how he goes about saying his thoughts from a meta standpoint, which I like so far
Killjoy is going about asking questions that don't feel like busywork.
I am also pretty sad that Highroller never came back with thoughts
I mean, I'm not sure what you want from me here. There was nothing I wanted to persue, so I didn't. I can't think of a way I could have force the game forword from there. Ask questions? Been there, used to do that, nothing comes of that. So I didn't.

Do you think those two situations (confident wolf, lazy town) are the only two possible here?
The only 2? No I wouldn't be that dismissive. You could also just be annoyingly oblivious, or not understand that from my perspective (and I am going to try not to lose my temper with Tammy because that's the third time she has incorrectly framed my issue with you on page 2. Or Wisp assuming my issue with you is only questions). You do understand the difference between couldn't and weren't right? And from my perspective, you were veering into weren't. Now, as obvious as a needle that was from LW, I am not voting you for that because I don't think that alone makes you a wolf, but it is enough to pressure you.
Bur is posting fine again. He seems like he is trying to solve. I like his questioning to Vaimes.
Quote from KJ »

I get annoyed in general when I have to play an extra mind game to translate with an RP. If you want to rhyme or role play, or take on some role, but I can still comprehend what you are saying, I don't care. I had to google "natters" and neither me nor Wisp understood what he was saying about him at the time.

I didn't like the frustration at Rhand's rp because it didn't feel real.
100% real, even if I was a wolf I would be annoyed if I couldn't understand a person. I don't like making the game of communication online even tougher by having to play the translator game.
Okay, so you don't have any questions for me or comments about my play?
I just find it very strange that everyone else in your wall got an actual question or read or comment or something and you... used the space you should have used to talk about me to complain about rvs more generally
Seems like you felt obligated to say something about me for some reason but then couldn't actually think of anything
Tammy is a villager if she puts maple syrup on waffles and a wolf if she uses anything else
110% on maple. All other choices are incorrect. Gonna need soem selling on the wolf partners. I don’t see anything definitive there, is this a real thought?
ohh I will not be ok with a killjoy lynch prior to day 2-3 unless you give me some damning evidence or I find damning evidence, none of which is, "He is asking too many questions" or, "his questions aren't doing anything"
Who else other than me is going for KJ?
Like Jesus Christ, almost every other person is coddling him like this is his first game. Someone even went so far to say that they wouldn't consider him until day 3. Oh, that was you and CC. Yeah, where's this comment coming from?
I wonder, is the bolded a real thing?
Rhetoric.
Highroller's entrance is w.e. He feels like he is trying too hard, but that's Highroller's personality in debate to it's relatively nai.
Silver is background noise for me. I can't actually tell if his takes are serious or not, and the few posts I have read just felt more like he is posting to coast and not posting to solve. Watching him.
Tammy, despite not being able to frame my point correctly seem genuine otherwise, and it's probably not intentional because why would it be. Lean town.

It's a real thought that occurred to me while reading Tammy's posts, I think it would resolve the weirdness between them if they're boxing with kid gloves, so to speak
That said I confess I'm not actually reading for "evidence" right now I'm just rattling bushes to see what comes out
Gj - I’m sorry if I’m misframing. That’s not my intention and I basically summarized the post you called Wolfe so as to stay true to your issue. It’s not debatable that it was a page two issue Which is the main thing I was concerned with. But again I’m absolute ***** at deciphering early game scum hunting, so while I’m filing it away as something I didn’t much like I know it alone doesn’t make you scum.
Chads wall reminds me very much of some scum catchup walls I’ve seen lately. A lot of comments for comments sake.

That was a bad Chad post in terms of Chad posts just saying, but you do you I guess. I will probably continue this path of poking at you because my wolf is rela, and nothing you have done has changed that
We can agree that Tammy seems geunine in their approach tho
I don't know who the **** GF is in a gme where Grapefruit is the mod, or how you suddenly started forgetting my name but my vote is 100% real Wisp.
His catch up post was giving reads and asking questions. Better than half the game as far as I am concerned. He also follows up and doesn't just disappear.
It’s not debatable that it was a page two issue Which is the main thing I was concerned with.
Not debating that, and not voting him for that either. I literally don't care anymore apart from framing it incorrectly. My problem was one of can't vs won't. if you want to disagree with that, fine, but it's moot at this point anyway.
And what magical page number should I start pushing people? Asking for a friend.
Resisting the urge to town read GJ for voting me after I said I was seriously considering he might be a wolf
Just in case it wasn't clear, I am voting you because you have felt coasty all day, and when you make a what I was to take to be a serious read (even if it was only a lean), and the second you get an iota of pressure from tubba, you immediately walk it back as just "rattling bushes".
That wasn't "walking it back" though that (part of that) post was 100% serious and I even said so in the post you quoted?
Yes, I am presuming the Tammy part was *****posting, which is why I made the even earlier comment that I can't tell if your reads are serious or not though.
This should be obvious to anyone who has ever even looked at a game that myself and wisp are never w/w based on these interactions so far. Yes yes, blah blah WIFOM, that's exactly what I would say if we were wolves together, but I don't tend to start out bussing unless I think the person is going to die. Matters, I was actually trying to set Shadow to die, and needed tubba to fake even a little wim, and only when that didn't happen, did I go for the bus.
And perhaps walking it back was the wrong terminology, but you appear to be distancing yourself from that read instead, real or not.
I don't feel you were serious about wanting Wisp dead, is the thing, which is kind of a requirement for bussing?
And the way you pivoted onto me, accusing me of coasting while I'm in the middle of a string of relatively serious game-related posts is kind of eyebrow raising; if your problem really was that I was coasting you might've waited a bit longer to see if I went anywhere with my lines of inquiry
Felt like you just used it as an excuse to vote me and not like you actually care about it

Well I only have 1 vote today, so I got to start somewhere.
LW's already voting me, and basically slapping me down without really going elsewhere apart from maybe Rhand. Maybe you could I could argue I am treating him with kid gloves, but what makes you think Wisp is treating me with them?
KJ feels good for me, but ***** posting a bit much for me. Nullish
Give me more. I am grinding out these invoices.
I don't have any info yet, so I'm trying to get the conversation flowing.
What do you mean when you say "feels good, but too much *****posting"?
Decent sounding tone, but it seems like you aren't even trying to push the game forward, as if you are wanting to stay in RVS.
Not inherently wolfy, but eyebrow raising from my perspective.
The game will move forward with or without my help. It's not specifically my responsibility to do so.
I haven't seen anything worth pursuing, so I haven't.
Wolfy post, my lord
That makes me sad to hear
I'm quoting posts so there's no danger of misframing here. You can push someone at any page you like. Hell catch scum after their first post on page one.
But on page two you made these posts as if it was scummy for him to behave this way in the first two pages of the game. While everyone was ***** posting and there wasn't really anything to push as an actual push. It felt too early to make these arguments when it was still RVS and the only serious posts by that time was maybe one by sloth and a post by wisp saying that you felt disingenuous. It felt reachy to make that observation.
Now maybe it just gave you a gut punch and you didn't like it, or maybe you were trying to move the game out of RVS - it's gotta start somewhere, or maybe you were scum looking for something easy to push early to look like you were scum hunting, or maybe you're scum doing early distancing from a partner who you think is rvsing too long and looks scummy for it.
I didn't like that observation and it formed my early impression of you this game. I'm not trying to misframe it, or use it to say you can't push someone early, it's just part of my developing read.
Your focusing way too much on the 2nd bold and not the 1st:
It's not specifically my responsibility to do so.
Is the part I had 90% of my problem with. The 2nd part was minor, but I didn't care for it. I can't see how anyone sees that and doesn't at least raise an eyebrow. I think I am on ******* crazy pills that no one else thinks that's a wolfie comment to make.

Okay
We'll just have to agree to disagree on that one. I do believe that you could find that scummy because I think that some people would find that scummy. And I don't remember anything about your play to suggest that you wouldn't.
I don't find that scummy particularly because it's not his personal responsibility to move the game out of RVS. It's really nobody's. I, myself, don't actively move the game out of RVS and I'm quite resistant to being the one to do it, unless I have to for some reason. I used to, but I'm not good at it; I almost always pick the wrong thing to push to get out of RVS and end up getting in a stupid argument because of it, which starts the game off terribly. So I don't unless something just organically sticks out or if I absolutely have to.
So since that's a perspective coming from killjoy that I can identify with, I don't find it scummy at all unless he is one of those people who do the early push out of rvs as a matter of play style. That would be odd, but as it is, I don't have an issue with it. But I do know that it's a perspective that other people take issue with and find scummy.
I remember a scum game I was in where I was RPing HK47 from Star Wars, and my scum buddy got annoyed at me for it.

Pretty bored of back reading
Not really seeing that, based on GJ #129 which feels like a very natural interaction between both of them.I've been wrong about my brother before and I lean him more towards the chance of being scum this game than GJ based on pages 1 & 2, that being said, I think both are just town.
I should probably just vote cantrip here, most of his early posts struck me as odd. Based on seeing him play as scum, I kinda get deja vu reading him here.
Vote: Cantripmancer
Are you asking me why I'm commenting on RVS votes on Iso, or complaining about how many RVS votes Iso has/had? Something else?
129 is a good post but what makes it town to you? Also 129 is an interaction between sloth and gj not wisp though Gj does talk about wisp. Why does that post make you think gj and wisp are town?
Cantrip has had one post. What was odd about that post?
also stuff like, "Why did you poke at me and not Wisp", is just very deflective. I could probably pick out more bad stuff and some good stuff, but I am leaving for work soon
Just a general statement as to why RVS is so *****ty to me, everyone just funneled onto a person. This is pretty much why I think rvs is dumb.
Just a general statement as to why RVS is so *****ty to me, everyone just funneled onto a person. This is pretty much why I think rvs is dumb.
I get annoyed in general when I have to play an extra mind game to translate with an RP. If you want to rhyme or role play, or take on some role, but I can still comprehend what you are saying, I don't care. I had to google "natters" and neither me nor Wisp understood what he was saying about him at the time.
The GJ way path to no lynching:
Cantrip is someone I struggle to read. What's giving you the vibes?
100% real, even if I was a wolf I would be annoyed if I couldn't understand a person. I don't like making the game of communication online even tougher by having to play the translator game.
The GJ way path to no lynching:
Okay, so you don't have any questions for me or comments about my play?
I just find it very strange that everyone else in your wall got an actual question or read or comment or something and you... used the space you should have used to talk about me to complain about rvs more generally
Seems like you felt obligated to say something about me for some reason but then couldn't actually think of anything
110% on maple. All other choices are incorrect. Gonna need soem selling on the wolf partners. I don’t see anything definitive there, is this a real thought?
Who else other than me is going for KJ?
Like Jesus Christ, almost every other person is coddling him like this is his first game. Someone even went so far to say that they wouldn't consider him until day 3. Oh, that was you and CC. Yeah, where's this comment coming from?
Rhetoric.
Highroller's entrance is w.e. He feels like he is trying too hard, but that's Highroller's personality in debate to it's relatively nai.
The GJ way path to no lynching:
Tammy, despite not being able to frame my point correctly seem genuine otherwise, and it's probably not intentional because why would it be. Lean town.
Chad's return has felt pretty good
Wisp has continued to lose stock.
Probably 1 wolf in Az/Iso per Champ's rule.
The GJ way path to no lynching:
That said I confess I'm not actually reading for "evidence" right now I'm just rattling bushes to see what comes out
Chads wall reminds me very much of some scum catchup walls I’ve seen lately. A lot of comments for comments sake.

The GJ way path to no lynching:
We can agree that Tammy seems geunine in their approach tho
I don't know who the **** GF is in a gme where Grapefruit is the mod, or how you suddenly started forgetting my name but my vote is 100% real Wisp.
His catch up post was giving reads and asking questions. Better than half the game as far as I am concerned. He also follows up and doesn't just disappear.
Not debating that, and not voting him for that either. I literally don't care anymore apart from framing it incorrectly. My problem was one of can't vs won't. if you want to disagree with that, fine, but it's moot at this point anyway.
And what magical page number should I start pushing people? Asking for a friend.
The GJ way path to no lynching:
Just in case it wasn't clear, I am voting you because you have felt coasty all day, and when you make a what I was to take to be a serious read (even if it was only a lean), and the second you get an iota of pressure from tubba, you immediately walk it back as just "rattling bushes".
Comes off to me as insincere.
The GJ way path to no lynching:
You are unsellable if you think I am even close to my wolf game. Or you are just a wolf yourself. Going more likely to the latter at this point.
The GJ way path to no lynching:
But you might want to do a bit more than bold part of a post and naked vote if you're serious
The GJ way path to no lynching:
The GJ way path to no lynching:
There is literally no way Wisp thinks you are legitimately in danger of being exiled at the moment regardless of your respective alignments lol
I'm not trying to misframe it, or use it to say you can't push someone early, it's just part of my developing read.
the way she's talked about her alignment and the way she doesn't really feel miserable at all
her response to the general v-reads on it reinforced my read too
Is the part I had 90% of my problem with. The 2nd part was minor, but I didn't care for it. I can't see how anyone sees that and doesn't at least raise an eyebrow. I think I am on ******* crazy pills that no one else thinks that's a wolfie comment to make.
The GJ way path to no lynching:
And I want Highrollers thoughts
