if you can't argue with the source of misinformation or information, it's OOG. if someone says they were busy, it can't be argued. same principle applies.
Except you *can* argue with the source of the (mis)information. You ask the mod yourself, and then it becomes he said/she said. Or you say "I don't think the mod would have told you that." Or whatever.
If the mod publicly comes into the thread and answers the question, yes, that is a source that cannot be argued with. If it comes from a player, they can say whatever they want *including* lying about something the mod told them.
That's literally the reason the rule exists as it does.
Conversely, the rules forbid Out of Game angleshooting, talking about replacements, and asking why people are V/LA because that would force (or at least cause some number of) wolves to lie about those things to gain a tactical advantage and that's gross. We don't want people lying about how their goldfish died to explain why they're lurking, but we don't care if they lie about something another player told them or about mechanics (like, what their role is and how it works) because those are both part of the game. It isn't any different than lying about what night actions you took or claiming you received different night action results from the mod than you really did.
But Grape was right, we can discuss this post game, it isn't super important right this second.
@tom: yeah, so the neighborhood just sprung up fully formed with three people in it?
That's kind of strange. Was this on D2 then? The neighborhood persistrd through to toDay, I'm assuming?
@dawning: I'm not saying it's weird *because* you are waiting, your *reason* for waiting is weird. Because of what I already said. Proph *already* lolcatted and claimed scum, I'm not waiting for him to, and his wagon tells us nothing because he's lockscum so everyone is going to pile on him as soon as whatever we're waiting for happens. I don't really know what it is myself, tom's tablet results maybe. Or a post from Cantrip.
I can't tell if you're, like, just skimming my posts and not reading them very closely or if you're trying to discredit me on purpose but it's getting a bit old.
Hmm, maybe I won't eat Tom's mailbox. Maybe one day he'll just wake up, shamble down his driveway to pick up his paper, and then when he opens his mailbox BAM. ANGRY OPOSSUM STUFFED IN THERE.
Seriously, Tom, the dude wants to die, just let him. We need to end the day and I'm getting antsy as hell.
Yeah I knew that part of it, I just don't understand what Tom is saying about this morning, and it seems like a fairly important thing to get clarification on, especially considering how ludicrously obstinate Tom is being about answering literally anything this game.
But seriously why do people want silver to stay alive now? When we've already had one extra body fall to sanity death. It just feels risky. And it means we have to have this debate all over again tomorrow.
Speaking of Tom. Are we positive that he stole something from the AH N2? I'm pretty sure he has declined to state what said item would be, though I feel like someone gave the impression that some item # went missing. He has also fully failed to provide literally any useful content. If the only thing keeping him out of the suspect pool is 'scum probably don't have 2 thieves' then like..that is not enough at this point. I can't name one scum read that Tom has had/maintained the entire game.
It's that a 6th AH number is missing today. So if he's a wolf he's the "5th" wolf because 4 ither items were stolen N1. So it's not so much two thieves probably aren't both scum as it's not worth sorting him till 4 are dead.
He could be scum but never sort him till we figure out who the last heist wolf is.
Agreed. @Cyan, just to confirm, you saw my post about grape being the most unlikely to be scum in the POV if Proph doesn't turn up as the secret auction bidder wolf right?
Didn't say he's trustworthy, only that he's almost never the secret auction-wolf. So if Proph doesn't flip as the secret wolf bidder, then I'd be shooting at someone else in the POE. I have role related reasons for believing this.
Oh good more role secrecy after we've mass-claimed. Well, at least we don't have to be suspicious of you. But still..blah.
Anyway, I agree with you in general that finding the secret auction wolf is the most important thing, so..there's that. If it's not Proph and you think it can't be Grape, I'll take your word for it.
Thanks. If there was any value in claiming the role, I would, but it's only useful while people don't know how it works.
At least I'm not squirrel's away the conclusions it allows me to draw when they might be RELEVANT AND USEFUL TO THE TOWN NOT LOOKING AT ANY TOM IN PARTICULAR
“There are four kinds of instruments here, Wilmarth,” whispered the voice. “Four kinds—three faculties each—makes twelve pieces in all. You see there are four different sorts of beings presented in those cylinders up there. Three humans, six fungoid beings who can’t navigate space corporeally, two beings from Neptune (God! if you could see the body this type has on its own planet!), and the rest entities from the central caverns of an especially interesting dark star beyond the galaxy. In the principal outpost inside Round Hill you’ll now and then find more cylinders and machines—cylinders of extra-cosmic brains with different senses from any we know—allies and explorers from the uttermost Outside—and special machines for giving them impressions and expression in the several ways suited at once to them and to the comprehensions of different types of listeners. Round Hill, like most of the beings’ main outposts all through the various universes, is a very cosmopolitan place! Of course, only the more common types have been lent to me for experiment.
@DBS: Gemma's role claims to be a neighbouriser that can:
- Bring two people into a QT chat with her
- Pay 1 gold to learn if the two people are in any other QT chats together
I don't recall if she mentioned whether her ability was
A) repeatable
B) Ended after one night
C) had any sanity costs to activate.
well, that sounds about as much as I know already. I still want details from Cantrip, it sounds like a potential overlap of sorts (as if the neighborizing wasn't enough).
But seriously why do people want silver to stay alive now? When we've already had one extra body fall to sanity death. It just feels risky. And it means we have to have this debate all over again tomorrow.
Cyan and Silver can just shoot each other if necessary. vig showdowns save us the hassle of a wasted lynch + wagon info.

excuse me. forgot you're talking about Silver here. having him flip town if he stays off-wagon won't benefit us, will it? we'll just bring ourselves closer to scum's wincon. even if Silver flips town, how sure are we that we're reading things correctly to make a dichotomy with Cyan?

Atog, RE, Gemma..whoever. Grape I guess. Maybe Tom.
Zero surprise that none of those 3 are voting for Proph right now. Gemma kind of has an excuse since she's not actually in the game anymore, but Atog and RE have no excuse. I particularly don't know what to make of Atog here. He was voting PRoph guns blazes until Proph actually got revealed as scum, and now it's just radio silence.
Tom also has no excuse for not voting, no matter how much he spins it as 'I want Silver to vote'.
Who knows why LW's vote is where it is either.
Like. We are like 60 hours from deadline with a literal outed scum and somehow we can't get 2 more people to put their vote on him.
So. Certainly the next scum is extremely likely to be in Gemma/RE/Atog, of not then maybe Grape, if not then maaaaaaybe DBS, but I doubt it.
Honestly, the way this day has gone, I'll be really surprised if the remaining scum(s) are outside of Atog, RE, Gemma. And really I'm leaning much more toward Atog/RE. And I still think there is a good chance that there is just one mafia left and Silver is the SK, but I could be wrong and there are 2 mafia left, which would include some extra possible candidates.
Okay, two of togs, wisp, DBS, Tom or RE please vote for Proph so that we can finish the day. I'm actually feeling pretty frustrated here. Lynching now gives cantripmancer more time to catch up for tomorrow and gets us the info we need (both with silver and proph's flips followed by relevant info gathering night actions!) and we can wring our hands over who 4th scum is tomorrow.
@DBS what does Cantrip's role sound like an overlap with? Other than Iso because unless I'm reading you wrong you're saying it overlaps with something else.
The benefit of Silver staying off wagon is it gives information about Cyan and still let's Cyan shoot into the PoE tonight. If we keep them alive to shoot each other it's a waste of resources. Silver's flip + Cyan shooting into the PoE is more valuable than Cyan+Silver's flips from shooting each other. We have 3 people and one of them has to be scum. Flipping Silver and one of them tonight gives us an easier time tomorrow than losing our KP to find not scum.
The crux of it is between the two of them there is only like 5-10% chance of there being scum. Cyan is literally 0% to be scum this game. Flipping him now because we're worried he might be a SK is silly.
No matter what role you end up flipping, Silver..I'll miss your presence in this game. It's been a positive experience AND a pleasant one. I'm sorry if you're truly town.

/barn this minus being sorry if you're town. It's the right play just not a pleasant one because Silver has been such a positive presence in the thread.
I don't think Cyan is scum, I'm just annoyed with his play on a personal level.

Yeah I don't get this either. Are you saying that the chat stopped being available today, Tom? Or what does 'a new neighborhood' mean?

*Tom's reluctance to participate in the act of providing useful information*
*DBS not yet voting claimed scumproph*
*this day not being over yet*
*Only scum worry about that sort of consistency of thought*
