@Shinichi I'm starting to be convinced that you don't know what rolefishing is my friend. Because what LnGrrrR was doing was 100% rolefishing and it was his first post of the game.
I know what role fishing is, but all he was talking about was how no one should betray because we dont know how it effects others roles well that and how anyone who does it is scum. So do you think he is scum due to his first post?
I think Shinichi townslipped. If not, he is doing an amazing job. You're near the top of my townlist right now Shinichi, right under Terry. For qhoever asked, Terry is probing this game like he did in Silence of the Lambs, When he replaced in as scum with me in Sonasland, he was more cautious and not as confrontational.
Shinichi, think of it this way. By betraying, you are making the following statement: I am more important than the person I am partnered with. I need to live more. Now, if you are scum, sure. If you are town though, you either force the opposite to betray as well (and you get nothing) or ally (and hurt themselves). Scum have a MASSIVE amount of information power, and get to discuss at Night how best to plan every move. If town ALLOWS players to FREELY betray, then scum will easily take advantage of that. If as town we enforce a rule that betrayal is inherently scummy, then scum will have to jump through more hoops in solving the gamestate. That is my theory anyways. Anyone who disagrees can do so.

I'm less concerned with living and more concerned with getting an ability off as fast as possible.
@DV: As far as your Betraying people goes, I know what you are doing and I think it's fine, but you need to be careful who you betray. People can ABSOLUTELY die from being betrayed Night 1. If your BP reaches 0 you die. If someone were to start the game with 1 BP, they could die if they Ally and their partner betrays. I play that way as scum because that's the way I play as town.
I have not been ignoring my wagon. Where did you come up with that? I addressed it when it first started happening. I'm a bit concerned that so many people just jumped on it with out actually thinking about it. I'm not fully surprised that you were in that group, but I have reasons to believe you are town.
Unless your stating you started with 1 bp theres no way you can assume that, also due to the accuracy of my role alone I am sure everyone starts with 3 BP since tahts how the game was actually played. What makes you so sure no one thought it out?
Tom can be town for now, but I do want Post-Game credit for calling out Tom + LW at the beginning of Page 2 if they flip scum by the end of the game.
IDK about Tom, but u you are so off about my flip, and ur confidence is gunna be the end of you, if I can expect this to be ur play all game
How much experience playing mafia do you have LW?
8 or so games maybe?
if u want a link to a few I can send them ur way, but that wont happen till I get out of work
Well, I've played mafia for over 10 years, so I'm right and you're wrong. For some reason, I rub people the wrong way on here, but only when I'm town. Is English your first language?
Your reads can be as wrong as anyone elses, regardless of your experience. I agree you can be an ass but your confidence is your downfall.
His general tone feels nervous and defensive. The post I voted him for was one where he was absolutely confident he was not going to die soon, which is a weird thought for a townie to have.
Then he went into this whole thing that he ABSOLUTELY wasn't defending tom, so stop asking! Like, just the stances he takes on things aren't reading as if from a town persective.
What ties do you think I'm making?
StinkyJoe was in the lead by 2 votes, but u switching over to LW made the top trains tied again.
and I don't see that as a valid argument to lynch LW over - just cuz he talks as if he won't die soon and he denies defending someone. looks like an asspull excuse imo
Whats wrong with have 2 trains? A countertrain this early is qutie nice.
countertrains don't work their magic if both are town, and I'm seeing that alrdy. if we see a train on town AND scum, things will be happening by now.

I'm not actually sure on that. Keep in mind that:
1. We have a number of inactive or mostly inactive players, at least one or two of which are almost certainly scum.
2. Neither wagon got very far.
3. (The most important one) There's no magic formula for a game of Mafia.

i think i see what youre talking about and i like you pointing it out i think
also the way that hes all about the nighttime subgame and just. incidentally solving because hes here. doesnt strike me as something scum would ever think to fake.
@Shin, why do you think scum betrayals are any different? If they drop to 0, they are dead. Which is actually my point... if scum get matched up with scum, they are going to do whats most beneficial to them 100% of the time. It is going to be really hard to fight through that informational power. Giving them the ability to ally AND betray freely is bad.
If someone chooses to betray, then they can defend themselves publicly as always. But there should be a stigma attached.

What do you mean by this?
LnGrrR made the comment that betraying made the statement that they needed to live more.
I don't care about living. I care about having enough points to use my ability. Living is secondary.
I'm not suicidal, but 3 point jumps versus one point jumps lets me use it more than I would normally this game.

so that's his towngame. thanks for the tip.
and I second that idea. I've been thinking about it.. it's risky for town to ally, but betraying does more damage to town by the next AB. if a townie encounters 2 consecutive betrayals, that's as good as suicide. rather than risk blurring the line between scum and town, its best for us to ally and PoE on those who betray.

Shinichi-kun looking town, what blasphemy... tbh i always have a hard time reading him. But I do agree that forces everyone to only ally, makes it easier for mafia to control the game.

How does putting limits on what behavior is and isn't acceptable help mafia control the game more so than allowing them to freely betray? Which gives mafia more room to maneuver? Especially Night 1.

just making a blanket assumption that scum will betray and town will ally seems unreliable to say the least
im way more interested in the why

I see. well, I've seen some games with town!Shin before and..this doesn't feel any different. time will tell, of course.
LW brought up a good point tho, town runs a higher risk of losing if they choose to ally..since scum might organize consecutive betrayals on certain players. but yeah, that comment is likely to come from town more than not (unless Shin who played Zero Escape alot, knows how to use AB to his advantage as scum)

Shinichi, think of it this way. By betraying, you are making the following statement: I am more important than the person I am partnered with. I need to live more. Now, if you are scum, sure. @Iso: Why aren't you currently voting for someone?
I'm not actually sure on that. Keep in mind that:
1. We have a number of inactive or mostly inactive players, at least one or two of which are almost certainly scum.
2. Neither wagon got very far.
3. (The most important one) There's no magic formula for a game of Mafia.
also the way that hes all about the nighttime subgame and just. incidentally solving because hes here. doesnt strike me as something scum would ever think to fake.
If someone chooses to betray, then they can defend themselves publicly as always. But there should be a stigma attached.

LnGrrR made the comment that betraying made the statement that they needed to live more.
I don't care about living. I care about having enough points to use my ability. Living is secondary.
I'm not suicidal, but 3 point jumps versus one point jumps lets me use it more than I would normally this game.
and I second that idea. I've been thinking about it.. it's risky for town to ally, but betraying does more damage to town by the next AB. if a townie encounters 2 consecutive betrayals, that's as good as suicide. rather than risk blurring the line between scum and town, its best for us to ally and PoE on those who betray.

It kinda felt like a loose, 20-20 hindsight link... The implication was that it was an advisable course of action, but okay.
I like the second part of your post #254, though, even if I believe that you may be thinking from a utopian dreamland there.

where are ppl questioning LW or Terry? if u don't wanna talk about magic formula, at least consider it from a logical standpoint.

Not like I think we will just go after anyone that betrays, but understanding why they betray, helps us to sort people out. With that being said, I'll probably betray today, I have my reasons...
shinichi
osi
dawning
axel
phoenix
joeterry
lngrrr
would betray:
dv
iso
whisper
grape
Also poke me, I like questions...
ok. so u will expect the person ur playing against to choose betray as well? I hope so.

How does putting limits on what behavior is and isn't acceptable help mafia control the game more so than allowing them to freely betray? Which gives mafia more room to maneuver? Especially Night 1.
@Dawn, not saying it is Shin's towngame; I just think he made a comment that scum wouldn't have. I have only been in one game with Shin technically, as I replaced in after he died. (Silence of the Lambs.)

If the scumteam is active.
D_V, Tom, and Phoenix were all questioning/poking at Terry.
Terry was poking at Lastwhisper.

do not have a read on those people
just making a blanket assumption that scum will betray and town will ally seems unreliable to say the least
im way more interested in the why
feel like im channeling ace attorney right now
LW brought up a good point tho, town runs a higher risk of losing if they choose to ally..since scum might organize consecutive betrayals on certain players. but yeah, that comment is likely to come from town more than not (unless Shin who played Zero Escape alot, knows how to use AB to his advantage as scum)

Is this really ballsy buddytalk or just coincidence? Neither of them are in my scumleans at the moment, so I'm leaning the latter, but YMMV.

@LnGrrrR: What about the potential for information during night time before the AB game?
~~~~~~
Terry was being questioned. LW isn't posting.
if scum were voting a townie, it would have this eerie silence. if it was townies voting scum, we would see some activity. either way, I don't see the LW train as a good one given the circumstances.
why on kj?
