You are entirely correct @Mograppler , it does mention that. I had merely added more information to fill in gaps, to try to avoid double-posting. If it is not appropriate @Wheat_Grinder my post can be dismissed and I can write a new one.
@BluesEclipse I would be more than happy to answer your response when I have more time this evening. Be on the lookout for a late night post, most likely.
I'm certainly not Town-reading Audio, to be clear, but his tunneling of me feels null due to his inexperience. So I'm neutral on him, which defaults to Town just due to the numbers game on Day One.
I could share the information about D_V, but I don't want anyone to take out-of-game information into account. I'd rather not do so myself either, obviously, but I'm simply not some robot capable of compartmentalizing my thought processes enough to ignore the information, so I'll just have to settle for not sharing it with anyone else to avoid contaminating the game further. Wheat is well aware of what occurred, but he won't post about it because that would either confirm or deny the validity of the information, thus tipping my opinion one way or the other. For now, there's no reason to take the information into account because, without knowing it, you could only rely on my interpretation of it if you trusted my judgment 100%, and you don't know me well enough to have any reason to do so. And given how blatantly scummy D_V's been for the last couple pages...yeah, I neither want nor expect to change your vote.
Folza said his wall of text was "unfinished", hence the empty reads. He appears to have edited in the missing reads, however, which...is a rather big no-no.
@Folza: Thank you for elaborating. In the future, please keep in mind that this is one of the rare situations where double, triple and even quadruple posting is not only accepted, but encouraged - if you need to make corrections to a prior post, you should always be providing a new post. This is because when you make an edit to a post (or if you delete a post, for that matter), we don't have any way of viewing the history and seeing what was there before changes were made. I'll look forward to getting more detailed information from you later, but I just wanted to mention this now.
@JulsSkogs: If you're suggesting we look at Olli*** again regardless of D_V's flip, that's fine, and thank you for answering that. But do you have any reads or opinions at all on anyone else?
And don't get me wrong: if Audio's baseless tunneling continues, it's scummy. When I say I'm willing to give him a bit of a chance, I just mean he has some time to let up (or find some actual evidence against me), not that he's off the hook if he continues to play like that forevermore.
@EternalLurker: Thank you for explaining regarding D_V. I appreciate the situation that you're in, and as long as Wheat has been made aware of it I will not speak on it further, nor will I ask you to in this case (as it is a rules issue that seems to have been addressed by the mod). Also, regarding the link you provided, I generally don't look outside of a given game to form reads on people - if a person's going to have inconsistencies in how they apply their own internal logic, or their thought processes are going to suddenly change, I'm hopeful that I can pick up on those things within the course of a single game (if not, it tells me that they're a better player than I am and I need to work harder). I have been following that game in my free time, so when I get the chance I'll see exactly what's going on there - if it's as you say, it definitely has to be a blow to D_V's ego if nothing else.
Regarding Audio, I am curious as to how you reconcile his behavior as town (I apologize if it's already been discussed, as I'm still at work - if it has please feel free just to provide post numbers or links rather than repeating the entire thing).
First: I've warned a few of you in private so I'll warn the full game as well. Flaming will not be tolerated. Please, keep your tempers in check. There will not be a second warning.
Second: I've reviewed what happened with EternalLurker and have determined that no breach of conduct has occurred.
Third: I saw an allegation that there was an edited post. I am on mobile so it's hard to immediately find. I will investigate this later today.
If you have any other rules concerns, now is a good time to air them, either in thread or via PM.
Again, I don't consider him Town. He's just Neutral-ish to me (which defaults to Town, hence my probably poor wording earlier, because of the numbers game). As we've both agreed, both Audio and D_V have been repeatedly either misreading things or intentionally misinterpreting them. I'm just willing to give Audio the chance to prove that it was the former in his case, since he's clearly inexperienced. I did the same with Mograppler: I was scum-reading him hard at the beginning for sticking to the No Lynch push regardless of what we told him, but after that he's turned around and shown that he's willing to reconsider viewpoints based on outside information. It wouldn't be consistent of me not to give Audio a similar opportunity.
In other news, this Maelstrom is looking more and more like a *****storm. Aren't we here to enjoy ourselves? Last couple of pages make me feel anything but enjoyment - it's more of a contest who can insult another with being bad at mafia more. Come on, guys... we can do better than that.
I was thinking this but wondered if it would be rude to say it. This is my first game and it's truly making me second guess another one after this at all.
Lurker has made a bad post we all ignored in #126. At the same time he suggests Sen Triplets character might be cop and it would not surprise him, thus suggesting a connection between characters and roles, but immediately after admits to sharing his character with us to legitimize a RVS vote on Folza. This makes little to no sense; if he actually believes characters might hint roles, why hurry and share who his is with us? And if he does not actually believe that, why would he hint it to Jugs and Olli***, to steer them on the wrong path?
I don't personally believe there is a connection in this game, but it's entirely possible that there is one. I was just explaining to newer players what one of the possibilities for character flavor might be.
That said, even if I did believe there were a flavor-mechanics connection in this game, my actions would only paint me as scum if dropping hints as to my role were a scummy thing to do. That's the inherent assumption in your argument, hence my bolding it in the above quote. Why do you believe it to be?
To clarify: dropping extremely vague hints, that is. Obviously, being too specific gives the Mafia too much information in most cases, but tidbits of innocuous info can help Town. There's a reason people role-claim when nearly lynched, after all.
@nagobcnik: I shared my character specifically to counterpoint the argument that the character assigned could be indicative of alignment. I do also thank you for providing the reasoning in your post that ties to your vote on Lurker. I also would like to state that I agree with your point about the game in general. We don't have to all agree with one another, but I hope that we can keep a civil discourse going if only to make Wheat's job a bit easier. I know that I've rewritten a couple of posts specifically so that I can maintain the same level of civility that I have been working with. (I also know that sometimes you just want to snap and spend 10 minutes cursing at someone until their ears fall off, since that happens roughly once a day with my job. It's hard to hold back at times.)
@Bloodmoon0324, Mograppler: I can only ask that you not let one experience sour you on Mafia as a whole. It's an extremely fun game - and to be honest, as heated as things got in this instance, it's still tame compared to most of the Starcraft 2 Mafia games I've played. (Though admittedly, 5-10 minute days and nights don't lend themselves nearly as well to intelligent discussion, which is part of the reason I decided to get back into forum games here once I saw there's actually a Mafia community here.
@ Blues: I'm going to attempt to not let this game rub me the wrong way. Also I know that we do have a few people in here that play a little more aggressively because they are more experienced than some of us. I am keeping that in mind.
D_V: Thanks for not replacing out. Even if we have butted heads and will butt heads again (I'm sure we will) thanks for sticking it out.
Folza suggesting a replacement has been seen by some as a townie thing to do, but I'd like to remind you he was suggesting it, not requesting it. Big difference. Suggesting it could be scum play to gain brownie points. Not saying that actually happened, but I do feel this needs to be considered as an option.
I'm hoping I'm right here on what you are talking about, but I could be wrong. At this point, I'm not considering what he did town or scum like. He admitted that he was struggling and thought about it, and instead got himself a mentor. I applaud him for sticking with it, no matter what his alignment is. He hasn't left my radar yet, but I hope I'm not the only one that has noticed a lot of improvements in his posts and the amount he is posting now that he has a mentor as well. For now, I'm null on him as we start to pick up more information along the way with better posts that have substance to them.
@EL I guess it's a bit late now, but here are my reads like you wanted.
Bloodmoon: Light Town
Eternal: Town
Bluesy: Probably Town
Rhand: Neutral, as of right now.
Fugg: Scum.
AudioTsunami: Light Scum, but mostly just because of lurking.
Juls: As above.
Nacob: Light Town.
Mog: Light Scum.
Folza: Maybe Scum, but I'm going to have to think about it more.
D_V: Absolutely no clue. It would be really easy just to say he's scum and leave it at that, but it could also just be him trying out weird strategies on noobs. Whatever it is though, it's obviously working on me.
Whoever Replaces EL: Town. I've never seen anyone as passionate as EL about what they're doing, be lying. Maybe that assumption works better IRL, but when you do it to the point of getting forcibly removed, even online, that just seems town to me.
My bottom two reads could change if I learn more about all the weirdness on the top of the page.
Feel free to ask me about my reads/probe for more information.
I'll do my best to analyze those walls of text in the morning.

@BluesEclipse I must apologize, but considering how my day had been going I won't get a chance to respond this evening. Expect something before lunch tomorrow (EST time).
@nagobcink and @bloodmoon I appreciate both of your inputs so far to the game. You've been very reasonable, but I understand that nobody can be ruled out as scum or not. For now I'll be paying more attention, so please expect more responses from myself overall (unless real life nips at my heels again!)
Folza's post has been reverted. I will post screenshots of the two versions later today. I do not suspect this was done maliciously so I will not require replacement.
@Wheat_Grinder: I didn't know that edited posts could be reverted... you learn something new every day. Do we have word yet on Lurker's replacement? And could I trouble you for a vote count when you get the chance to do so? Thanks.
@King_Torg: Thank you for providing your list of reads at the moment. That being said, you mention Audio as light scum specifically due to lurking. Do you have any thoughts regarding his arguments on posts #56 and #61 - and in particular, do you agree with his interpretation of #61? Also, can you elaborate on what makes you think Olli*** and Mograppler as scum at this point? (As always, if you want to reference points you've already made, just provide the post numbers for reference purposes and I will let you know if I need more on those points.)
@Bloodmoon0324: Since you're going to be unavailable for the better part of the next four days, could you please provide an overview of your thoughts on the full field as well, so that we have opportunity for any additional discussion on points you might raise? It'll also make sure that when you get back you can focus on responding to anything you need to respond to in the remaining time before the deadline.
@all the new players: we are a fun community of mafia. We really are
I think the EL slot showed genuine frustration, which makes him likely town. DV is probably scum, but I somehow feel that lynching him rewards EL's bad behavior, which I don't want to encourage. Meh.
@Bluesy I think that Audio's interpretation is more correct than EL's. EL's assumptions in 1 and 2 just seem wrong, but the intention around it seems okay. As someone who probably considers himself more skilled than a lot of other people here (which I think he showed), it seems logical he'd try to do it, but his points seem weirdly off. I just realized I was thinking about AS and Juls as pretty much the same person. AS hasn't been doing as much lurking as I "remember". (although he hasn't posted in the last 3 days)
Olli just hasn't done anything. I've tried to pull him in on the conversation, but he repeatedly posts nothing of value. His OMGUS vote on me with almost no evidence backup is also concerning. He's done absolutely nothing significant in the past two weeks, so even if he's not scum I kinda just wanna lynch him anyway.
On Mogg, I'm not actually sure what I did with him. I was really tired, so I'm pretty sure I just mistyped. Sucks that you can't edit posts.
I actually have a light town read on him, since he hasn't seemed to do anything scummy, and his votes and comments seem town-natured.
Now that we've only got a week or so left, what do we do? Do we all have to agree on one person to lynch, or does max votes and the end win?

@King Torg: I thank you for providing your opinion on those reads, and regarding Audio in particular. I don't necessarily agree with it, but I appreciate your candor regardless. (I agree that EL's post #61 has more WIFOM than most Chinese restaurants have MSG, but I don't think Audio's interpretation of it is correct due to the fact that Audio is relying on ignoring specific context within the post to reach that interpretation.)
And what will happen is one of the following:
1) If a player reaches the lynch threshold (it's currently at 7 votes, and will always in this game be a simple majority of the remaining players) before the deadline, the day ends immediately and that player will be lynched.
2) If the deadline hits and no player has reached the lynch threshold, then the player with the most votes will be lynched. In the event that multiple players are tied for the number of votes, the player who reached that number of votes first will be lynched. (Taken from post #1)
@Blues, per your request, here is my reads list.
Okay, here comes my wall of text. Bear with me on this one guys, I'm attempting the color thing with some help.
BluesEclipse: Town
I know we all raised questions with his helpfulness, but I am firm that he is town. He throws too much passion behind every post and got really frustrated when we had lurkers who were on but not contributing.
Mog: Lean Town.
This one might change as we go further into the game. I was hard scum on him until I read back through every post of his and what was being addressed where and by whom. He's willing to listen and make a decision on new information. At first, I thought it was scum just trying to blend in. But, after a re-read, it feels like a new player that is reasonable town who is realizing that his reads were wrong.
Eternal Lurker's slot: Null.
As passionate as he was, he was probably town, but I'm holding that to the side until we get his replacement. A replacement might give that slot a different feel.
Rhand: Null
I really don't feel like there is enough to make a decision for his slot, especially with him being V/LA
Torg: Null.
As much as I would like to say I have an opinion on King, I just don't. I keep bouncing between lean town and lean scum based on different things he is saying and so, for now, he remains neutral.
D_V: Lean Scum.
He's just all over the place all the time, confuses the heck outta me, and is doing things that I don't think a town player would do.
Juls: Lean Scum.
This one is mainly due to little input from Juls.
Folza: Lean Scum.
I'm keeping in mind that he has a mentor but I'm basing this off of before and after. Posts improving all the time, but I still don't get the feel enough to call firm scum on him, yet.
AutoTsunami: Scum.
There has been more than one occasion up to this point when he has been asked something and instead of an answer we get nothing or fluff. It's happened at least once with a post from me requesting clarity and Blues.
Fugginggolli***: Scum.
He just won't respond to anything. He has posted five times in the ENTIRE game. I know I don't post often enough, (two kids under ten and being a full-time student as well as employee will do that) but I've still somehow managed to post more than five times.
This all being said and after seeing how horrid golli*** is actually lurking and not participating, I'm putting my vote back where it was before. D_V can wait for now.
Why the **** are people posting full reads list on day 1? Stop. All of you. Now.
Jesus christ.

EL still way scum. Folza scummy for starting the really awful reads list train
Bloodmoon, what did I overlook from you?
Also I know someone asked me If I was reading the thread. I'm not. I'm lightly skimming cause I already caught a scum, so like...get bent person asking me if I read.
@Nago: town. I'll attempt to get on after my shift to say why, but I am V/LA until Sunday. I'll continue to read when I can however, and attempt to post if needed.
Also I know someone asked me If I was reading the thread. I'm not. I'm lightly skimming cause I already caught a scum, so like...get bent person asking me if I read.
Also I know someone asked me If I was reading the thread. I'm not. I'm lightly skimming cause I already caught a scum, so like...get bent person asking me if I read.
Are you serious or is this sarcarsm?
So this is absolutely ridiculous. Giving a list and giving reasons helps us understand the way people are thinking. I just can't think of a reason as ho ethos would not be town beneficial. And not reading the thread because you already have ONE scum and one scum lean? unvotevote: AudioTsunami
@AudioTsunami: I agree with nagobcnik: Please elaborate as to why you think full read lists are not a good idea. Also, swearing really isn't necessary to provide a constructive opinion (in my opinion, it is impolite). Also, EternalLurker has been removed from the game. Please change your vote accordingly, and it seems like Town is in agreement that Fuggingolli*** is scummy for lurking.
I argue that D_V is still scummy for posting inconsistencies, but I think it is a stronger read on Fuggingolli*** now, since he has yet to post after collective Town accusations.

@nagobcnik: Thank you for providing your views here, Nago. I disagree that D_V vs EL is likely town vs town, but I have already detailed my reasons for believing D_V to be scum - if you want me to elaborate further, or provide the post numbers of my previous arguments on the matter for reference, just let me know. I won't get into views on everyone at the moment (due to being at work), but will provide those later when I have more time to do so.
@Bloodmoon0324: Thank you for the reads list. Again, I will follow up later with more detailed responses, though I'll note that D_V would be farther down in my opinion while Olli*** and Folza would actually be up a bit higher at this point. And yes, I'd like your view on Nago as well.
@AudioTsunami: You call it scummy for people to provide views of people, now that we're more than two weeks into the game (and for the most part, where those lists were requested by others.) You still are tunneled on Lurker's slot. And you admit that you aren't even bothering to read the thread, which explains why you did not respond to my posts directed at you specifically previously - and why you are calling out Folza for posting a reads list when I provided one well before him. And 'get bent person asking me if I read'? This is not an acceptable response, as you signed up to play the game, and as this is a game built mainly around discussion, reading the posts and following the discussion is implicitly required. Now, since you - by your own admission - haven't been reading the topic, you might not have noticed something important. Even if you're right, even if EL-slot is scum... you haven't gotten people voting for that slot. Because you're not bothering to read the topic, or provide anything to further the flimsy case you've built, or do anything to sway others towards your line of thinking. And even if you're correct (which I'm not convinced on at all), and EL-slot flips scum, what about the other two? Your own actions here seem like a very hard scum move to me - trying to slam the town as a whole for providing opinions and promoting discussion, trying to focus on one person, and then coming back with a post that just gives you an escape hatch of 'oh, sorry, I didn't actually read everything' when the person your focused on flips town. At this point, I'm waiting to see your response to Nago and Rhand's questions to you before I decide to move my vote.
@Folza: While Lurker's been removed, the slot still exists - and until a replacement is brought in, votes on Lurker would still register for that slot. Plus, while Olli*** is definitely concerning me, I've got others who I currently feel are more likely to be scum based on their actions, so I'm not voting for him yet.
@AudioTsunami: I agree with nagobcnik: Please elaborate as to why you think full read lists are not a good idea. Also, swearing really isn't necessary to provide a constructive opinion (in my opinion, it is impolite). Also, EternalLurker has been removed from the game. UnvoteVote: Fuggingolli***
Eh... are you telling Folza who to vote for now?
@Rhand and @BluesEclipse (joint reply), it's certainly not my intention to tell people how to vote based on your reading of my post. I'm merely trying to summarize where Town's opinion lies, but that may not be such a smart move this early into the game. Still have my FOS on Fug and D_V, and would be happy to hear from Audio some time soon.
@BluesEclipse You say I am still a bit higher up on your scum list. Can you please provide some more clarifying information on that point? I'd like to get some alternative opinions on my actions so far. As for EternalLurker's slot, that's right, it does still exist and I did not think that way when writing my response to AudioTsumani. Looks like I'll have to pay more attention to my specific words!
Just letting you guys know now, I'm leaving for SCG Atlanta tomorrow, so posting will be probably nonexistent (not that I'm flooding the thread anyway, amirite)
Why the **** are people posting full reads list on day 1? Stop. All of you. Now.

This is the way I'm reading this: AS is either scum, made a really bad town move, or is just excessively lazy to the point that he is contributing nothing to the game and just trying to avoid a poke. He might not be scum, but any way you shake it it's not a good thing.
@JulsSkogs Good luck at the SCG, and may you always have enough untapped blue mana to cast Cryptic Command.

You did explain your reasoning for viewing Audio as scum, and it's certainly apparent with a single glance at any of his posts. I'm just willing to give him more of the benefit of the doubt than I was D_V, because Audio hasn't portrayed himself as some uber-experienced player who certainly wouldn't throw away a game by making a play that is clearly terrible and anti-Town in absolutely every way.
I'm certainly not Town-reading Audio, to be clear, but his tunneling of me feels null due to his inexperience. So I'm neutral on him, which defaults to Town just due to the numbers game on Day One.

For now I'll be paying more attention, so please expect more responses from myself overall (unless real life nips at my heels again!)
@wheat can we get a date and time for the deadline? I know it's either Sunday or Monday.
Just a reminder that I have to go V/LA tomorrow thought Sunday morning.
I think the EL slot showed genuine frustration, which makes him likely town. DV is probably scum, but I somehow feel that lynching him rewards EL's bad behavior, which I don't want to encourage. Meh.

And what will happen is one of the following:
1) If a player reaches the lynch threshold (it's currently at 7 votes, and will always in this game be a simple majority of the remaining players) before the deadline, the day ends immediately and that player will be lynched.
2) If the deadline hits and no player has reached the lynch threshold, then the player with the most votes will be lynched. In the event that multiple players are tied for the number of votes, the player who reached that number of votes first will be lynched. (Taken from post #1)
D_V can wait for now.
unvote vote Fuggingolli***
Jesus christ.
~~~~
EL still way scum. Folza scummy for starting the really awful reads list train
Bloodmoon, what did I overlook from you?
Also I know someone asked me If I was reading the thread. I'm not. I'm lightly skimming cause I already caught a scum, so like...get bent person asking me if I read.
cause it didn't work and I was supposed to try to re-vote or something cause algorithms
So this is absolutely ridiculous. Giving a list and giving reasons helps us understand the way people are thinking. I just can't think of a reason as ho ethos would not be town beneficial. And not reading the thread because you already have ONE scum and one scum lean?
unvotevote: AudioTsunami
vote: AudioTsunami
I argue that D_V is still scummy for posting inconsistencies, but I think it is a stronger read on Fuggingolli*** now, since he has yet to post after collective Town accusations.
UnvoteVote: Fuggingolli***
Unvote Vote: Fuggingolli***
This.
Is this your first game Audio?
Eh... are you telling Folza who to vote for now?
@Bloodmoon0324: Thank you for the reads list. Again, I will follow up later with more detailed responses, though I'll note that D_V would be farther down in my opinion while Olli*** and Folza would actually be up a bit higher at this point. And yes, I'd like your view on Nago as well.
@AudioTsunami: You call it scummy for people to provide views of people, now that we're more than two weeks into the game (and for the most part, where those lists were requested by others.) You still are tunneled on Lurker's slot. And you admit that you aren't even bothering to read the thread, which explains why you did not respond to my posts directed at you specifically previously - and why you are calling out Folza for posting a reads list when I provided one well before him. And 'get bent person asking me if I read'? This is not an acceptable response, as you signed up to play the game, and as this is a game built mainly around discussion, reading the posts and following the discussion is implicitly required. Now, since you - by your own admission - haven't been reading the topic, you might not have noticed something important. Even if you're right, even if EL-slot is scum... you haven't gotten people voting for that slot. Because you're not bothering to read the topic, or provide anything to further the flimsy case you've built, or do anything to sway others towards your line of thinking. And even if you're correct (which I'm not convinced on at all), and EL-slot flips scum, what about the other two? Your own actions here seem like a very hard scum move to me - trying to slam the town as a whole for providing opinions and promoting discussion, trying to focus on one person, and then coming back with a post that just gives you an escape hatch of 'oh, sorry, I didn't actually read everything' when the person your focused on flips town. At this point, I'm waiting to see your response to Nago and Rhand's questions to you before I decide to move my vote.
@Folza: While Lurker's been removed, the slot still exists - and until a replacement is brought in, votes on Lurker would still register for that slot. Plus, while Olli*** is definitely concerning me, I've got others who I currently feel are more likely to be scum based on their actions, so I'm not voting for him yet.
@Rhand and @BluesEclipse (joint reply), it's certainly not my intention to tell people how to vote based on your reading of my post. I'm merely trying to summarize where Town's opinion lies, but that may not be such a smart move this early into the game. Still have my FOS on Fug and D_V, and would be happy to hear from Audio some time soon.
@BluesEclipse You say I am still a bit higher up on your scum list. Can you please provide some more clarifying information on that point? I'd like to get some alternative opinions on my actions so far. As for EternalLurker's slot, that's right, it does still exist and I did not think that way when writing my response to AudioTsumani. Looks like I'll have to pay more attention to my specific words!
Votecount!
AudioTsunami - 1 (Mograppler)
D_V - 3 (Rhand, BluesEclipse, JulsSkogs)
fuggingolli*** - 4 (King Torg, nagobcnik, Bloodmoon0324, Folza)
nagobcnik - 1 (fuggingolli***)
Not Voting - 2 (Ophidia, D_V)
Ophidia - 1 (AudioTsunami)
This is the way I'm reading this: AS is either scum, made a really bad town move, or is just excessively lazy to the point that he is contributing nothing to the game and just trying to avoid a poke. He might not be scum, but any way you shake it it's not a good thing.
@JulsSkogs Good luck at the SCG, and may you always have enough untapped blue mana to cast Cryptic Command.
