BUT, I'm going to put my money where my mouth is. If we lynch Rhand and he flips town, the remaining townies can pick my avatar for the duration of the next game, as a committee of course.
I did retract that, but honestly it didn't cross my mind as going too far. In my head it was more of a way to apologize to people if I led the game losing mislynch, but I get what you are saying.
I think a lot of my frustration was rooted a lot in how Cyan was playing this game and it poured into me behaving badly. I'm reading through my ISO and that's about all I can see as an OoG thing.
The fact that I didn't want to play with Cyan in future games seems like something I should be ok to say because I clearly stated that it was NAI.
Since we're getting into OoG stuff can someone talk to me about my Newcomb angleshot. I'm legit at a loss. When I posted that I knew it was on the edge of acceptable, but figured since it was all in the thread it wasn't too too egregious. I could tell it really upset a few people and maybe it wasn't as close to the line as I figured. And I'm definitely sorry if I made the game less fun for anyone because of it. Once it became clear that it wasn't being viewed as kosher I messaged Proph and asked him to modkill me if it was really that far over the line.
Basically I'm sorry and lost and didn't mean to take away from the game.
More importantly huge good game to the scum team. You had me pretty much completely fooled.
I don't think I even know what you are talking about.
Kandra created by my use of hemalurgy during my Ascension. He is part of the third generation of Kandra and is one of the oldest and most cunning of his breed. Has the Blessing of Potency and Presence. Currently under the ownership of Zane Venture. Has the power to take on a form of a dead body, copying it and its mannerisms almost perfectly. They have one major weakness, however, that only I shall know. Due to that weakness, however, threat level is low. Zane should keep him in check, anyways.

Is a Tineye* and is related to Clubs. Grew up on the streets before meeting Kelsier’s crew. Is a talented Tineye and serves as the crew’s lookout. I have received reports that he is able to spot my obligators and Inquisitors coming from miles away. He’s preventing me from obtaining additional knowledge of Kelsier’s crew. Medium priority.

Full name Aradan Yomen. One of the friends of Elend Venture, has a fondness for philosophical literature and praises me quite highly. Is notably one of the very few Mistings that can burn purely atium*, which is a secret that must be kept at all costs. Is smart enough to become a threat and can burn atium, but given that he believes that I am meant to rule, so his threat level is low.
*Burning atrium - An allomancer burning atium can see the future for a few seconds.
Welcome to Mistborn Mafia, Cyan! You are a Town Vanilla. You have no special abilities.
Full name Cladent. One of the older men in Kelsier’s crew. Was a military man in his younger days, but now is a Smoker* who has the ability to hide allomantic activity from my obligators and Inquisitors. I can detect the allomantic activity he is hiding just fine, but he is skilled in his cloaking ability, being able to create a strong coppercloud to prevent his shop from being inspected. Low priority.

Talented Soother* who soothes anyone he comes across in order to make them more susceptible to liking him and performing tasks for him. One of the more skilled Soothers in Scadrial; he can control people’s emotions quite easily. Many of my obligators could learn something from him. Has used his powers to invigorate crowds of skaa into rioting, and my spies inform me that he is very good at the art of persuasion. Threat level medium; has no actual combat skills, but has the potential to fire up ordinary skaa.
*Misting that can burn brass, which allows them to change the emotions of people around them

Nobleman from Urteau and the head of House Venture, the most powerful house of the nobility. Is notably a Tineye Misting, which allows him to have greatly enhanced senses. I suspect this is how he was able to avoid those assassination attempts throughout these years. Father of Elend, Zane, and many other bastard children fathered in order to produce Mistborn. Has his own personal army of Mistings, enough to be considered a threatening force. Controls my atium pits at the Pits of Hathsin. Has been loyal to me for a very long time and seems content to stay this way, though I can’t tell if he has plans of overthrowing me. Easily one of the more powerful men besides me in Scadrial. High threat, keep close watch on him.

I have a lot of things to comment on in this game, but I would like to take some time to organize my thoughts and present it in a coherent manner. I do want to apologize, however - between the OOG violations and the lack of good moderation compared to the last game I hosted (Ace Attorney), I really felt like I let you guys all down.
Congratulations Mindreaver, Rhand, Newcomb/typhrumare, Quix. You guys rolled it. Like, I *might* have been able to catch Rhand off of that bogus mechanical post he made about shadow being scum, because there's literally no way Rodemy only sees scum actions, but Quix I probably wouldn't have caught. I had it between him and Cantrip and thought it was Cantrip from the vote counts. Had to be told he was town, heh.
I kind of wish Newcomb had posted more, so I could get a better handle on his scum posting.
As far as role analysis: Rhand correctly pointed out that if shadow is scum, Rodemy's 2-shot follower role can only see scum actions. That's just not a thing that ever happens in a set up. My assumption is that Terry was shadow's back up to ensure that there was never a point when Rodemy can only catch scum.
Cantrip was excellent, though I'll never trust him after reading Overwatch.
I was pleasantly surprised that shadow was a wolfy villager and not a villagery wolf. This time.
I'm not going to talk about the OOG stuff because Newcomb did a pretty good job explaining it and if more needs to be said or done it should be said or done by Proph or a council member.
Mmm. I think that's all.
Shout out to Bur's Desperado use for ruining scum's plan to mislynch Huntzilla and everyone who died before Huntzilla because I wasn't really following the game at the time and have no recollection of any of you. Sorry!
KoolKoal: Feel free to take this with a grain of salt since self meta isn't particularly helpful, but I think I get scumread mostly for style over substance, but also for a certain lack of substance over style. It's not so much what I AM posting most of the time (though sometimes that can seem bad) but what I'm NOT posting. I've been told I come to non-obvious conclusions a lot, so when I post, quite a bit of the time there's jumps in logic that people can't follow and they think that's scummy. I get that accusation about a lot of questions I ask specifically. People call them "busy work" when the questions are legit etc.
As far as things to ignore, I can't think of anything. I would suggest you focus less on what I'm doing and more on how I'm doing it. That's probably more likely to be accurate. Like I've just said, what I do tends to come off a little weird, but if you look for how I do it, mindset comes into play and maybe you figure out something useful.
Sorry if I came across like a total arrogant ass in scum chat, btw. This is a general thing, not directed at anyone specific.
I was really struggling to find motivation, and was mostly trying to hype myself up to bring myself to post and care, heh. A kind of "Okay. I'm good at this game. I can do this. Really. We got this." Type of thing.
Such a fun day 3. Really appreciated the game, although it took FOREVER to get purposely lynched, without making it totally obvious that I was trying to do so. Terry and Shadow claims really complicated things.
@Proph - I don't think you owe anyone any apologies for replacements or modding. That was all beyond your control. Skipping me in the list of victors... unforgivable Thank you for hosting, especially because it seemed difficult.
Read spec chat. Silver, I really enjoy your comments, sad that you still think I'm scum
Random question, I don't recall doing so, but were any of my posts along the line of OoG grossness? I would really like to avoid the if so, as such feedback would be appreciated.
Also it just dawned on me that D3 everyone else wanted to lynch in the scum/scum dichotomy we had in front of us and I said nope: let's go lynch town!shadow over mind... Man my end game was bad...
Just finished the scum chat. Again huge props to the scum team. You guys wanted it more and took it. Can't argue that in the slightest.
Definitely not my strongest town game. My motivation flagged halfway through and when I came back I was a bit too set in my reads. I never got off my suspicion of Shadow, and didn't even for a second doubt my town read of Voxx.
Really enjoyed D1 on the whole, hopefully I'll actually be able to carry my weight next time.
Proph spilled some of the beans in the discord chat last night, heh.
Terry was going to become a 1-shot watcher-or-tracker if Rhand died, and the town info roles were supposed to be "weak" to balance that out. Rodemy only being a scum detector (absent shadow) was an accident. Shadow was supposed to be an Innocent Child but was changed in review because ICs are lame or something.
(Still interested in Proph's full collection of notes, but figured you guys would want to know that much at least. )

oh man as an IC I totally could have forced through a Rhand lynch!
Backup to a scum role seems...weird.
And of course all the info is in discord, which I can't access until I get my phone fixed. For anyone curious, after I posted about my phone breaking, I've only played from my work phone, which is slower and doesn't have my apps.
Yeah. I mean, I think the set up was fine overall, but. Rodemy was a bit stronger than they intended, which didn't really affect the game since he never got results I guess.
And town back up to a scum role is a bit swingy since it's a bit like kicking them while they're down. "You lose your investigative. Also, the town now has an extra investigative. GLGL." More of a style difference than anything, I think. There's nothing inherently bastard about it like there is with godfather or something.
I feel like if town had actually gotten rolling it could have gone a lot differently, but the scum team played excellently.
Oh yeah, Proph said this too:
@shadowlancerx if you read this, I'm sorry to make your role kind of a trap/red herring, it wasn't really intended to be that way.
But since it sounds like you won't have access to discord for a bit, well. There it is.
I guess Visor thought the flavor cop would eventually get cleared the same as an IC but without being as lame. It wasn't meant to be a real investigative at all, heh.

Here is my only criticism of the game. We had a a watcher/tracker, rolecop, falvor cop, and a two shot tracker. They were going to catch??? Like, each other? They wouldn't be able to catch grape or bur. So like, what was the point?

To be clear, you're complaining that your team had too many roles compared to the town.
Yeah what a terrible problem to have, as opposed to being part of a town that basically could not do anything. Like FFS, we had an actual fake protective role in Hunt because you guys just had a strongman for no reason anyway.

Mindreavers post didn't make a lot of sense. He's probably still trying to get lynched. That being said I agree. Scum was pretty powerful this game. Day chat, Rolecop, Strongman, and Tracker/Watcher plus pretty bastardly roles in Town Flavor Cop, and Town-Scum Backup. Not to mention the Desperado Role, which I loved, but was most likely -1 town.
The scum team was 1x 1-shot Strongman, 1x Vanilla Cop/Roleblocker, 1x 1-shot watcher + 1-shot tracker, 1x Daychat Enabler?
And the town was like. 1x 1-shot Desperado, 1x 2-shot Double Follower, 1x 1-shot Bulletproof, 1x 1-shot Triple Cloaker, 1x Pre-game Neighborizer, 1x Flavor Cop, 1x Back-up 1-shot Watcher-or-Tracker?
Scum team's strongman was meant to ensure they could kill through Huntzilla and Grape's abilities if they needed to, so that's pretty much a wash? Like. Grape *could* block a kill, potentially, and if he had made it to F5 or something with the shot intact it would have been super strong. So they kind of needed the strongman?
Mindreaver was meant to find Bur and Rodemy. Roleblocking any of the roles besides Rodemy is basically pointless.
Rhand couldn't even catch anyone except Rodemy and Shadow, and if he had seen Shadow and decided to kill him for having a power role it would have been pretty funny, heh.
Daychat enabler is pretty weak in my opinion. On a lot of sites scum just have innate daychat. It's pretty much just a goon.
Pregame Neighborizer could have been pretty powerful but the modkill on the slot sort of ruined any impact it might have had on the game later.
Rodemy was the only real town investigative
Bur is either a Dayvig or sacrifices himself to get one clear, and either way it removes two players from the PoE and the scum team can't roleblock him or anything.
Grape can block the NK, and has a very good chance of doing so as the game goes longer.
Huntz was Bulletproof.
And if Rhand had been lynched you would have gotten a 1-shot investigation, swinging the game more towards town.
So. Yeah. I can't really see that the setup was terribly stacked. Especially considering Rodemy almost always sees scum if he gets any results at all.
I think the game seemed lopsided due to excellent scum play. No plan game survives first contact with the enemy players and a ton of things went wrong for the town, like the mod kill on Gruffin that cost you a mislynch and Rodemy claiming on D2 then dying immediately. And Grape blowing his shot on N1 to try to clear himself. And Mindreaver getting lynched instead of Rhand.
It's just. Things happen. Can't really blame Proph because he didn't know the future.
I don't think it was just your claim Terry. If you hadn't chosen the flavor path, then your claim wouldn't have killed you.
There were definitely other paths that maybe I could have taken, but flavor and mechanics combined had me choose mind over you. Being a back up to a flavor cop seemed even less likely than a VT cop. Yeah sure, I could gave played better, but I feel a bit deceived. Making roles to intentionally confuse the players is a bit bastardly. I've got no hard feelings, just hoping to discuss it. I also probably deserved it on the cosmic karma balance for my drunk post.

LOL, the only thing Cyan and Terry agree on, is that I don't know what I'm talking about.
I was just commented that there weren't a lot of targets to "Catch" with the roles. Proph's write-up summed my point up really well. Rhand had two charges, but really, who could he "catch" that would be of any value? Rodemy. Shadow. And "value" there, is overstating it. It's not like their powers gave any indication at all that they happened. The only potential use was to follow Rodemy's targets.
Similarly, the only people I could have blocked were Rod and shadow. Again. I mean Rodemy late-game, is terrible for us. He might find the shooter. But other then that? We could have kept Shadow from implicating himself jumping to Vin's defense... That's about it. We spent a lot of time worrying he'd have some kind of slot-clearing role on N2. Turns out, it was the opposite, if anything.
That's all meant. It seemed like I might as well have been Vanilla. The only actual roleblock was Rod, and we killed him the same night. So if I was a goon, and Rhand was a goon, the game would functionally have been the same.
Now, I think that had the neighborizor not been pre-game, bur been a standard vig, and Shadow been a different role, there might have been more "to do" for Rhand and I. That's all I meant.
Just food for thought when designing games in the future. Roleblocker and Tracker VS a team of people that have *mostly* dodged being blocked or tracked, isn't fun
Daychat enabler is pretty weak in my opinion. On a lot of sites scum just have innate daychat. It's pretty much just a goon.
Knowing that there are sites where daychat is the norm gives me pause, but the one game I was in as scum where we had daychat, we DOMINATED the game. Being able to share thoughts, point out good plays in the moment, and coordinate lynch attacks was HUGE. When I read that they had daychat, I wasn't surprised that the scum team won. The rest of the setup...eh, not a fan of town being backup to scum, but everything else was pretty much ok.
Reading through the scumchat now; getting warm fuzzies from all the mentions of me being a good player and how I needed to die. Sad that I didn't make you regret not killing me sooner. Thanks for the compliments, though!
Mtgs is only site I've played on out of 15+ where scum daychat isn't the norm.
I really think it needs to be, even if just for overall game enjoyment. Being scum in a slogging game is a nightmare without it.
My first game here I was shocked that there wasn't day chat, but during this game there was the whole, Scum have Daychat! slip discussion and it seems pretty overwhelming that games on this sight don't have day chat. Frankly I don't think that's what tipped the game in scum's favor. Don't get me wrong, you played a great game, but I feel like town and scum were pretty balanced, until you factored in the Red herring flavor cop AND a bastard back up for town.
I really wouldn't call the backup bastard. I was seriously thinking you might be Mind's backup. You turned out to be mine.
It's just that town never thought out-of-the-box with that role. And I wasn't going to hand you that idea
my main takeaway in this game is that I finally figured out that Rhand was scum in some identifiable way. not just a feeling.
And sorry Rhand that that case came up when it did. It's just when I realized it. No timing hijinks done.
Sorry I missed this post earlier.
That's ok KJ. It was weird because your read on me really seemed to exist longer, but in the end your timing did make mislynching you easier.
I hope that you will now not have the urge to lynch me anymore when I'm town
I did retract that, but honestly it didn't cross my mind as going too far. In my head it was more of a way to apologize to people if I led the game losing mislynch, but I get what you are saying.

Sorry!
And sorry Rhand that that case came up when it did. It's just when I realized it. No timing hijinks done.
I was really struggling to find motivation, and was mostly trying to hype myself up to bring myself to post and care, heh. A kind of "Okay. I'm good at this game. I can do this. Really. We got this." Type of thing.
@Proph - I don't think you owe anyone any apologies for replacements or modding. That was all beyond your control. Skipping me in the list of victors... unforgivable Thank you for hosting, especially because it seemed difficult.
Random question, I don't recall doing so, but were any of my posts along the line of OoG grossness? I would really like to avoid the if so, as such feedback would be appreciated.
@Shadow I'm just going to stubbornly not read you correctly every single game it seems.
Neighbor Chat so you can see all of my embarrassingly bad early reads!
Out of curiosity, whose back-up Terry was in the end?
Did someone link the scum chat and I just missed it?
It was linked in newcomb's role pm.
Man that was a struggle I didn't think people would seriously consider the Rhand is scum angle after yesterDay
(Still interested in Proph's full collection of notes, but figured you guys would want to know that much at least. )
Backup to a scum role seems...weird.
And of course all the info is in discord, which I can't access until I get my phone fixed. For anyone curious, after I posted about my phone breaking, I've only played from my work phone, which is slower and doesn't have my apps.
But since it sounds like you won't have access to discord for a bit, well. There it is.
I guess Visor thought the flavor cop would eventually get cleared the same as an IC but without being as lame. It wasn't meant to be a real investigative at all, heh.
Endgame was a little, uh. Messy.
Good, good, let the town reads flow through you.
To be clear, you're complaining that your team had too many roles compared to the town.
Yeah what a terrible problem to have, as opposed to being part of a town that basically could not do anything. Like FFS, we had an actual fake protective role in Hunt because you guys just had a strongman for no reason anyway.
No
plangame survives first contact with theenemyplayers and a ton of things went wrong for the town, like the mod kill on Gruffin that cost you a mislynch and Rodemy claiming on D2 then dying immediately. And Grape blowing his shot on N1 to try to clear himself. And Mindreaver getting lynched instead of Rhand. It's just. Things happen. Can't really blame Proph because he didn't know the future.
Reading through the scumchat now; getting warm fuzzies from all the mentions of me being a good player and how I needed to die. Sad that I didn't make you regret not killing me sooner. Thanks for the compliments, though!
I really think it needs to be, even if just for overall game enjoyment. Being scum in a slogging game is a nightmare without it.
It's just that town never thought out-of-the-box with that role. And I wasn't going to hand you that idea
Sorry I missed this post earlier.
That's ok KJ. It was weird because your read on me really seemed to exist longer, but in the end your timing did make mislynching you easier.
I hope that you will now not have the urge to lynch me anymore when I'm town
Basically this, yes.
I'll get it up this weekend hopefully. There are things I want to talk about this game, just that I need some time to compile my thoughts.
Have some public shaming of your laziness and/or procrastination.
I'll try to write this by tomorrow or Wednesday. Been busy wrapping up school stuff and such.
I hope it will be this one
