I wish you would tell me what I want to hear and absolve me of responsibility.
But you probably can't do that and I shouldn't even ask.
Feel free to ignore this post.
DV's decision to 1 for 1 with me tells me he's (irritatingly) town, because scum!DV here would go for silver. And now Vaimes gets to be Percy, and false Merlin silver gets to join real Merlin me on the sidelines of never going on a quest.
Delayed cc boo. Not sure of where to start from here. 5 players w/o any fails is tough. Vaimes, Mind, Silver are my top 3 for townies. I think we would have needed a non-percy involved situation with better info. Then we could push a quest with many suspected people to potentially trip them up here and get multiple bogies in a pile of 5.
For goodness sakes I'm not trying to pocket you!
You are now the sole claimed Percy, and DV's reaction indicates that he's actually town. Which means both of you should be on every quest, and silver is scum, so me taking both him and I out of the equation is a net gain for town.
Ultimately it isn't my decision, but if scum!shadow wants to one-for-one me I guess that's fine. I don't actually think that's good for town, because it basically means we're sending two and three unknowns instead of three and two unknowns and I would rather not just be put on a bench because the consensus is that it's either me or him, especially when my alignment should be blindly obvious to anyone reading, but. Not my decision so I guess I'll abide by the consensus.

This post basically only comes from scum. Yay I caught silver on his first scum game. I've bolded the important parts here, basically, silver wants to just assume I'm scum and send and irresponsible quest team based on the quest 2 failure. And he's "abiding by a consensus" that hasn't even weighed in yet except for me saying I was trading myself for him.
I think this has worked really well despite my own thought process being flawed.
I legit almost replaced out because I thought I had hella thrown this for the town.
I'm slightly drunk, and may revise my opinion when I wake up.
But I think Vaimes is auto include in every set up.
Is it *****ty if I say that he shouldn't be in our next one though and it should be all new people?
Or him plus 4 new people?
I'd like to go for a lot of info this time.
I guess I'm still going to argue for myself.
To be included later in the game. Not certain about the Silver/Shadow thing.
But I do know we can't sideline all three of us.
@shadow:
Wat. No. I'm saying I'll go with what everyone else wants, not that I'm agreeing to be one-for-oned based on just you saying that's what you want. I think it's a bad plan, because I'm town, but if that's what gets decided I'm not going to throw a fit about it or something, that's all.
And I'm not just "assuming" anything - I've been saying you were the most likely scum on the quest since before it fired. Also, you'll have to forgive me if I ask you to post more than a few bolded lines as your "scum case." I probably have hundreds of posts, if you think you can find an actual scum mindset there be my guest.
@Silver, @Rhand, @Cantrip, @Vaimes: I noticed something interesting earlier today (Well, there was the CC, but this is something separate from that). There's two relevant posts in this selection, the rest are throw-ins to prevent this from being completely obvious:
@Silver: I'll definitively say that this isn't the case, but it would be hilarious, despite the sad implications, if Bellatrix was pulled off a bridge by a whip.
Silver, I may have drank the wine, what are your thoughts on DV (disregarding your thoughts on me for the time being)?
Pretty sure he's town. Actually, I'm all but certain of it now. But if you've gone down the rabbit hole then you should already know my full thoughts on him, though maybe not what logic took me there. I've not taken any great pains to conceal the what, just the why. Like. Most of my posts have been about D_V. What do you want to know specifically?
@Silver: I'll definitively say that this isn't the case, but it would be hilarious, despite the sad implications, if Bellatrix was pulled off a bridge by a whip.
Mmm. I ~think I know what you're talking about, though I don't know why the loss of Bellatrix would be sad. I mean, the wine was from a good year and I was going to make that my personal headcanon for my peace of mind, but. Meh. This is ~probably fine too even if it isn't what I'd get from the Mirror. Kind of wish I had the chance to bet against the assassin though, if you understand. Maybe he's a Sicilian.
Also, I've no idea what you're getting at with the posts you linked, sorry.
This is ~probably fine too even if it isn't what I'd get from the Mirror. Kind of wish I had the chance to bet against the assassin though, if you understand. Maybe he's a Sicilian.
You see, I see where you're coming from, but I'm not fully there with my weave. I'm also less willing to accept the one not shown in theaters yet. All three of the medicine, the oxymoron, and your windmill feel better. Though I'm least certain on the latter. The last two episodes will probably be the test that confirms that, unfortunately.
Hmm, I don't think I'm as far down the rabbit hole as I thought, but that's okay. So here is where I'm at: there is guaranteed scum between Vaimes/DV/Silver. So let's take Vaimes out, he is now the claimed Percy without a counter claim. Okay, so one of DV or Silver is scum. Now I thought DV's reaction to Vaimes' claim made him seem townie, but what I didn't take into account was that his reaction is exactly the one that scum should do as well, because it casts doubt on silver and me, who would be clear. Despite saying he wanted to take both me and him out of future quests, he gains a lot of goodwill doing that, and can get back into quests whereas he previously wouldn't. I jumped on Silver for this reason, despite an entire games worth of high quality, townie mentality. Also, Silver is strongly town reading and DV, and since they both can't be town together, Occam's razor pushes me to believe the easier truth, that DV is scum that made a ridiculous play, simply because "no scum would make that play" (see unreliable cops Mafia for a good example of this, DV framed his own Godfather partner and helped him sail to victory). I retract my desire to take silver out and send DV on quests and reverse that. Put Silver on quests, leave DV out.
So... shadow still probably scum, though like he said it's not really beyond scum!D_V to be playing this expertly I guess. Hrm. Maybe I need to reevaluate my heuristic.
I have no idea what Osi's going on about with the posts still and whatever it is, he seems nervous about it so let's drop it. Maybe Vaimes sees whatever it is.
He also lost me on the sled reference but uh. Nameless terror? Yeah? Also, the medicine/oxymoron/windmill reference doesn't mean anything to me, either. I think we've probably mixed our metaphors too much now.
Damn. Yeah, we probably mixed our metaphors too much. I'll lay some stuff out. I think I've cleared my own name well enough to do that, and most of this shouldn't bite us in the butt.
As for differences in reads, we can scrap that terminology since I'll just agree with you on Shadow. I'm giving AtheistGod a chance before I lock in D_V as town. Proph is still not definite, but I'm heavily leaning town there.
AtheistGod, D_V: This is your chance to show that you are not Mordred.
Sorry Vaimes, but I had hoped my #238 made it clear a Percival counter-claim should come before the first quest. If D_V had dug in, this situation would be even more of a mess right now.
That type of quest team doesn't really add a lot of info. The best way to get more info is to run more quests. The way to get more quests is to pass quests.
Shadow, could you elaborate on what scum gain by passing the first quest? You talked about it in #59 but I don't see what value they get by passing the first quest and failing a later one they are on that they don't get by just failing the first one.
OSI: didn't expect that vaimes CC. So obviously I don't want to continue down that thought process of who "could be scum" out of the four. It's also different to say "who out of the last group is most likely to be scum" and "who would you guys nominate right now".
So for my two cents, I thought dv was merlin. Don't worry I'm following this up with wine, and nobody but vaimes knows the truth. But one strat I saw online was that merlin claims Percy as a signal to the real Percy. In a lot of cases it ends with the Percy claim being scumread by everyone, and dismissed. This is what I was breadcrumbs get to vaimes "have you read up on any strata" "sorry I didn't want an actual response". Anyway, I'm thinking either DV or shadow at this point for scum on the quest.
Vaimes, try and keep hope alive if dv isn't one of your two. If he's town, it adds value. If not, can't hurt us.
Dv is scum 99% likely. I still think Osi is scum due to his posts we discussed earlier. Proph has lost interest and I don't know if it's his MO are if he can't be trusted, but I would not put him on a quest. I am still waiting for the, "wow, stinky, you were totally right about DV, good job. You might be onto something about Osi too".
Proph has lost interest and I don't know if it's his MO are if he can't be trusted, but I would not put him on a quest
Yeah, sorry, guys. This is absolutely my fault and I maybe shouldn't have replaced into this game. I'm just pretty miffed at myself because I promised Iso I would be a reliable replacement, I spent an entire day to get caught up, and then.. nothing. The fire wasn't there. It's just, for some reason, I can't get myself motivated to actually dive deep into this game and hunt the scum. There's five scum out there, and with no flips and no way to determine if I'm on the right track or not, my motivation for this game has sunk. I have zero interest in obscuring strategy talk or trying to figure out what the right mechanical play is with Percy, it's just ugh.
Still, I'll soldier on and be a solid townie for you guys. I'm just disappointed with myself for hitting my motivation slump THIS early in the game and I am slowly realizing that this game is pretty much going to be one long Day 1.
I will be posting tomorrow morning with analysis as I need to head to bed tonight, but just wanted to give everyone a quick status update on my position with the game. Every time I look at this game I just shake my head, because after reading the game + seeing the Quest I feel like I have zero grasp on what the gamestate actually is, and I know I will never really get a solid grasp on it due to lacking stuff like lynches! Night kills! Votes! etc.
So @Cantrip: you should pick those 4 and then the one you trust most from Shadow/DV.
And then I hope Osie is scum and not creating wine but actually trying to get us to follow his plan.
Or actually no, that doesn't change anything. It simply means that one of mindreaver, Brinatoo and Terry is town, but we don't need that one on our quests.
What do.
Assassinating Merlin wins scum the game if they don't fail three quests. They can literally rob town of their victory at the last second.
How can any townie not see that as significant.
Yolo?
But you probably can't do that and I shouldn't even ask.
Feel free to ignore this post.
I'm town.
DV has essentially admitted he was fakeclaiming.
Put me on all quests going forward.
>sees Mafia MVP sig
Yeah, pocket denied.
So forgive me for being skeptical until I have the chance to sober up and reread.
You are now the sole claimed Percy, and DV's reaction indicates that he's actually town. Which means both of you should be on every quest, and silver is scum, so me taking both him and I out of the equation is a net gain for town.
(Gonna pore over recent events tomorrow)
Like, this thing? Is just like this thing:
Ultimately it isn't my decision, but if scum!shadow wants to one-for-one me I guess that's fine. We should've sent my team I think.
We should go for DV + Vaimes + silver or shadow + Cantrip + me. And hope we picked right in the silver/shadow duo.
I think Brinatoo is scum. His town team is weird.
@Brinatoo: reasonings for those 3 please?
I wasn't too super surprised. But the way this happened was... Mrgl.
I don't like this idea, since D_V is currently such an unknown. The process to get there is also probably -EV.
Mmm. I ~think I know what you're talking about, though I don't know why the loss of Bellatrix would be sad. If Bellatrix was the sled all along. Lol. (And that is as far as that conversation will go.)
I'll narrow it down (squeamishly):
I have no idea what Osi's going on about with the posts still and whatever it is, he seems nervous about it so let's drop it. Maybe Vaimes sees whatever it is.
He also lost me on the sled reference but uh. Nameless terror? Yeah? Also, the medicine/oxymoron/windmill reference doesn't mean anything to me, either. I think we've probably mixed our metaphors too much now.
What was that about groups vs votes?

I think I have a win plan for town figured out.
Q3 (Cantrip): Rhand + Silver + Proph + Osieorb18 + Vaimes
Q4 (D_V):
No fail in Q3 -- Rhand + Silver + Proph + Osieorb18 + Vaimes + Cantrip
Fail in Q3 -- Rhand + Silver + AG + Osieorb18 + Vaimes + Cantrip
Q5 (AG/Osieorb18) -- (Whoever passed Q4 minus Selector as relevant) + (Doesn't matter)
Town
Rhand
Proph
Vaimes
Silver
Dichotomies
Cantrip / AG
Shadow / DV
Scum
Osie
Terry
Brinatoo
So @Cantrip: you should pick those 4 and then the one you trust most from Shadow/DV.
And then I hope Osie is scum and not creating wine but actually trying to get us to follow his plan.
