@Iso: I'm doing fine because I'm the deprogrammer.
I was trying to wait to claim to see if anyone would respond to your case so I could get more data. About all I got out of it is that Anak is probably town.
Since I know I'll be asked, here's why I claimed - There's essentially more than one way to use the role. The first is that you can just mindlessly conftown someone. The second is that you can cop someone since you can't deprogram the cult and you're told if your ability fails. The third is that you can reveal yourself Day 1 and be conftown yourself, and then use 1 or 2 the next day and hope for the best. This doesn't work Day 2 if the cult successfully recruits someone.
I never planned to mindlessly conftown someone, I planned to cop. Nor am I in a position to be safe from the cult's goon cc'ing me tomorrow. Therefore I'm using my conftown status today while it's still useful. It's the safest way to make sure the game doesn't get thrown away tomorrow by me having been somewhat scummy if Iso turns out to be town.
However, I also don't think Iso is town. He's pushing that Vaimes is the deprogrammer even when that patently cannot be the case from a logical standpoint. A deprogrammer would never vote themselves. It's the wrong move for all of the ways to play the role. Iso knows it.
Iso has also been hedging very hard on me. He's building up a case on Vaimes for when I'm dead, in advance. He's playing our history for everything it's worth.
And despite our history, this time I think I'm right. Because Iso is good at mafia, and he's not playing good for his team.
But by claiming aren't you 100% the recruit target now? You are the only person the Cult would be able to hit without getting blocked? Which actually means we can't trust you tomorrow at all, because either you get recruited... which is likely, OR the Cult gets lucky and doesn't pick who you deprogram but we can't trust what you say anyway, because to us you should have been the recruited party.
You basically shot yourself in the foot for future days if you are the deprogrammer... To me this means you should claim your target before we enter night, so the rest of us know what your plan is and we get that "1 conftown" person we deserve. Well, that is to say only if the person who gets immunized doesn't KNOW they got immunized. Does the person get told that they were marked by you?

Where it does say something, but it's worthless because it doesn't actually mean anything. All he saying here is that it's a dumb idea.
Like his post could say "Dumb Idea" and it would accomplish the same thing. It doesn't say why it's a dumb idea it doesn't say what's a better idea it's just rolling snippy commentary that at the end of the day has to be taken at it's face value. So no, no he hasn't. Once again I'm not reading Tom as not town, but don't liberally credit it with having deep meaning when the way he posts can't be taken that way. The way Tom is posting while saying some things is very shallow. If you are getting more info from it you are reading too deep.
Ok I just reread through Tom's posts. Wheat I challenge you to read through Tom's posts (It'll take all of 2 minutes). And to say that with a straight face.
I heavily disagree with Iso, it's incredibly anti-town because it's worthless.
Page 1. I skipped any post of tom's I felt meaning could not be divined from. I thought about doing the same for DV but if I did he'd have no posts quoted.
I think we start off by killing Iso. Either he is the cult leader, or he is going to distract us because we all will fear he is the cult leader. Either way, he needs to die.
"Never corner a barbarian. You become the path of least resistance."

@tom: Are we gonna start this like Neighbors again or are you gonna town hard enough for me early, this time?
Alternatively, are you the Cultist?
Bant's hearts are as pure as its air and as bright as its skies.
Tom says that he will change your mind, and in response to Iso says that he's town.
So Tom has said a lot of things while all you did was make one vote. For a stupid reason.
Should I continue or would you rather be spared the humiliation
Please do so I can see the ludicrous interpretation take flight.
It's like those pictures of a red box in the art museum that people. And one guys goes it represents anger. Another goes "its the sharp definition of the lines that represents society and it's conformity". Another claims that Red symbolizes life itself.
For all you know Tom is saying that I can counter two spells and that Vaimes is an Elf Shaman. It doesn't mean anything.
Look
"We must rely on our own knowledge, not on the dogma of the seekers or the mutterings of sphinxes."
You say it means "Let's figure this out ourselves". I read it as let's not figure it out and rely on other knowledge. IE that its a fruitless conversation.
"They feared each other for their differences but were absolutely terrified at their similarities."
Your interpretation "tom's saying you're both town"
My understanding of Tom's statement is that he is saying that I am being silly for fearing him.
Need I go on? That's my problem with Tom's content it's that it actually can be read multiple ways.
How do you not see this?
Because while we are all trying to convert the Gospel of Tom into plain English tom gets to say oh yeah "I meant X." After being given X,Y,Z... Etc as options. He gets to always pick the answer that "Fits best" with how the rest of the town is feeling.
The fact that we literally just lost a game to an SK that did this, and you didn't think about this is baffling to me.
"You say it means "Let's figure this out ourselves". I read it as let's not figure it out and rely on other knowledge. IE that its a fruitless conversation."

hold the lynch please.
No, rely on our own knowledge leads me to a different conclusion IE, that I should rely on what I already know and that talking bout a strategy is worthless. That's literally what it says, that planing isn't going to get us anywhere.
This is why it is useless. I have no idea what he actually is saying sometimes. I could literally put many different words in his mouth.
See post 210. That's my problem with it. That's my issue.
Creations made in madness may contain great power. The path to that power is as labyrinthine as the creator's mind.
@DV No one has properly answered her favorite riddle: "Why should I spare your life?"
I get what he is saying directly to me. I have no idea what the other ******* part even means or is about. It's cryptic and I'm not playing fill in the god damn blank to figure out what he means.
He gets to literally get a pulse on the town, by putting posts like that then imply that he meant something when he might have literally meant nothing and just said words. It is too subjective.
For example, when you make a case on Iso I know what your reasons are you say X, Y, Z. I stand here concrete things.
When Tom posts some of what he has posted, some of it I can get(or I feel I can) get a good read on what he means. But it's the other stuff, the stuff that is open ended has multiple ways it could go that's the issue.
For example since you played in that game, when Cynth used White and Black balls it wasn't entirely clear to me which one meant yes and no. Clearly they were opposites. But was it a light equal good(Yes) and dark equal bad(No)? Or was it that black might represent a bubble being filled in on a test, while white would be it being left in on a blank. What is it? Both are valid interpretations.
Mafia is a game of reads and interactions. I can hold you to something that you said earlier. With this style of play I can't do that. And with this style of play I can't necessarily be certain what you are even saying. Can you have a legitimate conversation with this style. No you can't. It's just that simple.
"You say it means "Let's figure this out ourselves". I read it as let's not figure it out and rely on other knowledge. IE that its a fruitless conversation."

Your logic doesn't make sense but I'm satisfied that you're not scum.
"he could be hiding because you could somehow interpret what he's saying differently!" but that's not really happening.
I'm not saying that he's hiding. I'm saying that he can say something and then we give him like 4 options of what it actually meant, and he picks the best one.
IE I say X. You say did you mean that it was Bad, Good, that they are scum, or that they are town. I get a pulse on what the town is thinking and I pick that option. How does that not make sense?
I just said it's anti-town and if people want to argue with me about that that's fine, but I'm pretty certain I am right.
If a town player is purposefully putting the town and themselves at a detriment, then that's anti-town.
For me to be wrong on this you have to give me a definitive on what Tom is saying on every single one of his posts. Otherwise it is up for interpretation.
For example you can't ignore things like.
Creations made in madness may contain great power. The path to that power is as labyrinthine as the creator's mind.
I have absolutely zero idea what this means is about etc.
The card itself says untap another target permanent so maybe tom is saying we need to look elsewhere other than Iso?
If you are going to argue with me that Tom has said more than me, which I guess you are technically correct on? I don't actually think he has written more than my past few posts. He's basically one linered his way through the game.
So really has Tom said anything worthwhile which is what the question should be and to that I feel like the answer has to be no. Because with everything Tom's said I'm really not certain about anything he has said. And until he drops the act, it will stay that way. And I won't believe anything he has to say about his previous posts because as I have proven it's open to interpretation.

Alara had become unsafe, whispers of a cult, and fear that came with it. The elders met, each from a far off land, each with their own story.
They would have this horror purged.
As dusk began to fall the first one would fall to axe, spell, and war club. As his body lie still they consulted the spirits to see if he carried the cultists taint.
Iso has been lynched. He wasVanilla Town
Night fell and each hoped the morning would bring them closer to the answer.
It is now Night 1. All roles are confirmed, Night will end as soon as all Night actions are recieved.
Every once in a while, when they aren't getting incinerated in lava, crushed under Rock Slides, or devoured by dragons, goblins experience moments of unmitigated glory in battle.
Okay, the fact that the cultist didn't go for the 100% guaranteed recruit in Wheat boggles my mind. I'm not writing off DV, but I think that move can only come from one source.
Who would target Vaimes? Tomsloger would. Why? Because Vaimes is his favorite. That simple. No offense meant to you Tom, but you're the only one brave/foolish enoughto not take out the power role.
Who would target Vaimes? Tomsloger would. Why? Because Vaimes is his favorite. That simple. No offense meant to you Tom, but you're the only one brave/foolish enoughto not take out the power role.
"The Filigree Texts do not compel you to act in accordance with their precepts. They only specify the consequences should you fail."
—Lodus of the Ethersworn
Wheat why did you target Vaimes? I believe you, but I'm trying to get a read on why Vaimes over others.
Uhh. Tom might be coasting now. That vote really stinks to me. He basically voted me yesterday for lurking, and now he's just using someone else's reason to vote me and putting no thought into the game.
What I'm getting at with my snark is: why does it matter? Wheat isn't the Cult Leader, and according to him, I'm not in the Cult.
(You can answer after Wheat answers.)
So, basically the arguments against the remaining question marks (from my perspective) are:
DV: His play yesterday and this incredibly pointless question. Fact is that he got it right.
Tom: He really is the only person I can fathom NOT converting the EASY target.
Anak: The fact that he hasn't really done anything? I guess?
So... Can you explain why Anak, Vaimes? Not sure I follow aside from him hiding for most of the game.
I still can't get over the night choice by the cult. It just... I don't get it.

Well, that is to say only if the person who gets immunized doesn't KNOW they got immunized. Does the person get told that they were marked by you?
This is the best argument I have heard yet against Iso.
Except no, because Vaimes's self-vote stopped his wagon...which proves my point.

I don't think Vaimes is the Cultist. His self-vote was far too calculating for scumVaimes, and I REALLY hate Anak's garbage hammer.
D_V or Anak.
Final answer.
Good luck!

He was Vanilla Town
Night fell and each hoped the morning would bring them closer to the answer.
It is now Night 1. All roles are confirmed, Night will end as soon as all Night actions are recieved.

They seem pleased, the darkness hasn't spread, the cult leader is alone in their ambitions.
Cult Size: 1
It is now Day 2. Posting resumes.
Also would like to thank our anonymous tech support for editing the title of the thread, and apologize for it becoming Day so abruptly...

Waiting on Wheat to say who he targeted.
vote DV
Who would target Vaimes? Tomsloger would. Why? Because Vaimes is his favorite. That simple. No offense meant to you Tom, but you're the only one brave/foolish enoughto not take out the power role.
Vote Tomsloger

Hrm.
Vote Anak
Wheat why did you target Vaimes? I believe you, but I'm trying to get a read on why Vaimes over others.
Uhh. Tom might be coasting now. That vote really stinks to me. He basically voted me yesterday for lurking, and now he's just using someone else's reason to vote me and putting no thought into the game.
