KoolKoal: Feel free to take this with a grain of salt since self meta isn't particularly helpful, but I think I get scumread mostly for style over substance, but also for a certain lack of substance over style. It's not so much what I AM posting most of the time (though sometimes that can seem bad) but what I'm NOT posting. I've been told I come to non-obvious conclusions a lot, so when I post, quite a bit of the time there's jumps in logic that people can't follow and they think that's scummy. I get that accusation about a lot of questions I ask specifically. People call them "busy work" when the questions are legit etc.
As far as things to ignore, I can't think of anything. I would suggest you focus less on what I'm doing and more on how I'm doing it. That's probably more likely to be accurate. Like I've just said, what I do tends to come off a little weird, but if you look for how I do it, mindset comes into play and maybe you figure out something useful.

AE has always been able to surprise people. Az is 100% right in his assessment of AE early in the game. I saw his role and knew that I was probably targeted, I should have claimed he gave me a scum result on you, Seppel, instead of waiting a day or two.

Tamiyo watched as two of the three remaining villagers accused the other of being the remaining member of the cult of Akharon. Arguments flew back and forth as Killjoy sat back and absorbed it all. In the end, he was left to make a judgment call, and with a single word, Tamiyo watched as Rhand was strung up like the rest had been. As Seppel and Killjoy lit the pyre, Rhand screamed
"There is no escaping death! AKHARON IS ETERNAL!"
Rhand has been lynched. He was:
Dejem, village mystic, mafia Deathbinder Censor Soul - When you die, choose a living player. That player will lose all abilities. (This includes their death trigger.)
While you may not be the only shaman in the village, you are definitely the most important. While other shamans handle paltry tasks like treating dead bodies or making medicine, your medium is the village itself. As the shaman in charge of ceremonies, you guide villagers through times of celebrations and loss, and through this guidance, you have become a true spiritual leader.
Killjoy and Seppel look to the sky, satisfied that they have done their duty to Korial. As Tamiyo looks up, she can see the outline of a being looming on the horizon.
Seppel and Killjoy have endgamed! Congratulations to the town!
Seppel is:
Grathik, village recluse, town Confidant Confide Secrets - When you die, choose a living player. That player will be given a quicktopic to store notes in. When that player dies, a link to their notes will be provided in the game thread.
These changing times bear ill omens. You want nothing to do with Korial and Arkharon. You do your best to stay in your remote hovel, venturing into the village only as needed. Hopefully this trip to the village will be uneventful and short.
Killjoy is:
Shekal, village shaman, town Coroner Anoint - When you die, choose a living player. That player will learn his death trigger.
You've always found yourself to be more spiritual than the rest of your tribe. As a village shaman, it was your job to prepare the deceased for burial - working with the family to find where to scatter their ashes, cleaning the body - and over the years, you felt you could connect with the spirits of those deceased. While they rarely spoke, and you usually couldn't make out the exact message, you knew when they were at peace and when they were not.
Right now, you know they are definitely not at peace. But what could be causing this turmoil? There is too much noise to make out even a whisper or hint.
So, here are my thoughts on the game. Prophylaxis already posted the spectator chat and Rhand posted the Scum/Mason chat, but I'm going to repost them together with some other quicktopics so they're all in one place.
If you read through the review quicktopic, you can see that this game started in a much different place, and went through a few iterations before coming to the current configuration. This setup was originally inspired by a game that I replaced into off-site. In said game, there was one player who had the capacity to interact with dead players, dead players gained abilities based on the number of dead players of their given faction, and the game was completely no-reveal. The ability to figure out how many scum were left fell mostly to the one player that could tell when ability thresholds were reached by dead players.
I decided to forgo the no-reveal, but originally had a couple players that didn't have death triggers. In the end, after chatting with Prophylaxis, making the players relatively uniform felt cleaner, and the town and scum teams were randomized from the role list.
Things I would have changed:
1) Paid better attention to modding. D1 Twilight took too long and there was the false lynch D2 that I announced as I was running out the door.
2) I wish that I'd been able to balance the abilities better. Part of the concern was that the town ended up with many of the more powerful roles (except the shifter), but overall, I was satisfied that it played out as I intended - the goal was to have a game with some mechanical function, but where the players couldn't reliably lean on their abilities ahead of time, as they didn't even know what they could do.
3) I feel like maybe there were too many layers to stop modgaming - randomized roles, no knowledge of abilities, names for the villagers that had 0 meaning, and even red herrings for the flavor of roles (such as the vigilante being a fisherman).
What I meant was "Lynch Seppel and then if he was not mafia lynch EP" (or the other way around).
You astound me with every post.
At this point, you're almost on par with Niv as my favorite person to play mafia with.
(Not sure if this is a compliment or an insult, but thanks anyways.)
But, thanks a lot everyone. I really enjoyed playing with you and learned new things once again.
I should probably sign up more as an replacement, since being able to skip D1 really helped my motivation in this game.

Also modgaming Bur setups is kind of treading down a dark path
How do you figure? Because as I see it the scum got beaten to a pulp by the RNG gods.
He's not incorrect, technically. With the Plowshares rush-lynch, Dechs' vig-shot, and Hunt's modkill as lynch, the town only had a single actual mislynch (Plowshares), which was quasi-accidental, but still found itself in a lylo situation.
Put another way, the town made 2/3 lynches correctly...and was still in lylo. That's not really supposed to happen. But after being a recipient of a double-life masonizing effect, personally I'm not going to pat myself on the back too heavily!
Both sides had their share of misfortunes, but the town's hits were self-inflicted, while the scum had to contend with a hostile balance.
I generally agree with Az. Scum got very lucky with the vig shot and modkill. The overall balance felt very town-heavy, and some of the roles seemed odd. Of course, I am probably biased by being on the scum team, but as on-death abilities, the masonizer and vanillafier seemed really weak compared to the vig, the cop and the revive. I also didn't understand the purpose of the innocent child role, unless that was something that could have been RNG'ed to scum and served as a godfather?

I see what he is saying, I thought he was making a statement about the set-up not the way the game played out.
Yeah, Iji had the same issue with modkills making it so the town lost with 3 mislynches in a 16 person game.

Sorry about the Modkill, town. Still feel pretty bad about that.
Good Game by all. Thank you for my first game!
It's all good. And you played well, especially for your first time.
I made a number of mistakes reviewing this setup as Megs pointed out. I'm sure Cythare would be happy to discuss about them once he wakes up.
I figured that Seppel was my only possible mislynch.
I'd like to see the scum chat too.
Could any of you two be persuaded to vote Bur?
How did you like my completely made up claim? EP claimed my role.

Sorry for not actually linking. Phone doesn't like that.
I liked your claim.
@Mod: What did my role do? IDK what a coroner does.

Yeah, I killed Generic. I regret nothing.
Pristaxcontrombmodruu!
Town owes this game to AE, no doubt.

I did genuinely enjoy this.
Thanks for playing everyone.

TOWN WON THIS GAME ON HARDMODE.
We only had one mislynch available to us. Two mislynches and we would've lost.
The sign up thread comment you had made. I reasoned that you most likely weren't scum.
