What is your solution when nobody responds to the replacement request and nobody makes a post in the PCL thread indicating that they want to replace in? Aside from PM every player who has played in a game in the past 6 months, of course.
What other options are there?
I see you're trying to help with the situation with your input, but you are doing nothing to help find a solution other than offer to Modkill players because of a small hole in the system of the PCL. This will only hurt the integrity of games in the long run. We are already running into another lull in activity as Summer is around the corner. Your suggestion will only result in a higher amount of Modkills should the lull be at it's norm for the Summer.
Yeah, I think this is more of a flaw with the current system. I'm pretty sure there are people who would be willing to replace that aren't on that list.
I mean, if you really can't find anyone else, I can replace into the Basic (even though I personally prefer not to replace into a game past D1).
The game is not being dumbed down. Control is doing fine; Draw-Go is not the only kind of control. Aggro is doing fine; Red Deck Wins is not the only kind of aggro. Creature combat is an important core concept and belongs in every color. Mythic rarity is not destroying the game. People whine too much for no good reason. Magic is more popular than ever, so keep calm, brew some decks and play some damn cards.

Modkills don't affect the integrity of the game. They can affect the balance (especially in smaller games), but they don't jeopardize the fundamental trust of the game.
I think that modkills are under utilized. Players lurk and lurk and lurk and ultimately just replace out, because they thought that they would be interested in a game but then werent, and there are basically never any repercussions against doing so. Nevermind how much this behavior negatively impacts a gamestate.
In the past, it's been suggested that the community just be more vigilant about blacklisting/probation/etc for people that replace out without extenuating circumstances. But that never bore out. Everyone is too concerned with just being nice to make the hard decisions.
And somehow, despite the fact that we have a list for EVERYTHING in this sub-forum, we don't seem to have a list of 'people that chronically lurk/replace out'.
So what is a Mod really to do? Having to replace someone, once you're past Day 1, is really not a practical solution. And there are many circumstances which you shouldn't even ASK a person to replace into.
If people started getting modkilled for this kind of behavior, I think that these problems would correct themselves. IMO, players would be reluctant to sign up for a game if someone else /In'ed for it and had been modkilled for lack of activity recently. This would likely result in the Mod just not giving that player a spot, and hopefully that player would learn their lesson.
I agree with Drey. Mod kills are an unfortunate, but necessary to keep the game going. If no other replacers can be found, there isn't really much in the way of alternatives. The more telling question should be in the event of the modkill: Is it fair to end the day, or just reset the votecount?
I also think we should be more willing to use the watch list for players who are are replaced out for reasons other than family emergencies.
About the blacklist stuff, I know I pay attention to the replacement list, and if you ever was forced replaced out for Inactivity/Failure to Respond to Prods please don't ask to play in a game by me. I also report everyone that does that in my games.
Asking to be replaced because of real-life is one thing (unless you do that all the time), but simply disappearing from the face of the earth to me it's unacceptable.
EDIT:
@TIK I know the answer to this one! I learned that on MS. Modkills on town end the day, modkills on scum doesn't. The reasoning is that all modkills should have a repercussion, that is to hurt the team of the infractor. This way mods doesn't ever have to "decide what's better" depending on the game state (a can of worms) and hopefully players are less incentivized to do stupid things. If a particular role is replaced 4 times I will also modkill the spot.

I don't really agree that the modkillee's team should necessarily suffer the extra penalty of the worse result of the day ending or not. Being a man down for free is already a disadvantage.
I would generally not have a modkill end the day unless the victim is imminently going to be lynched and is lurking to try and avoid it, or if a deadline is sufficiently close and the day long enough that it would be unreasonable to continue the day after the modkill.
I would generally not have a modkill end the day unless the victim is imminently going to be lynched and is lurking to try and avoid it, or if a deadline is sufficiently close and the day long enough that it would be unreasonable to continue the day after the modkill.
The problem with those is that (so far) there's no hard rule about "being close to be lynched", "he's lurking to avoid a lynch" or "deadline is near". Those are things that depend on the judgment and when I'm a mod I prefer to avoid those. I know I've seen players L-1 that reverted their lynches, players that got into real-life problems when they are near a lynch that looked like lurking scum but weren't and wagons being reverted with less than 24 hours to deadline.
Also if the modkill continue the day I think it's fine to increase the deadline (btw I need to add this to my ruleset).

Modkills ending the day or not should be a case by case basis.
Primarily to prevent situations where 'intentional' modkills may occur.
4 people alive, and oh darn, I just quoted my role PM - I guess that confirms me as town and gives town the advantage, right?
It's an edge case, but ultimately it needs to be up to the moderator to determine how to handle them.
Penalize the player and their team appropriately, but don't impact the game balance more than the players themselves do.

I don't mind being PM'd anytime a game needs a replacement, as long as I'm not either in the game, or already spectating. It's not exactly a hardship to simply ignore a mass PM if I'm not available, after all. If that needs me put on a certain list, or whatever, feel free.

Cheers! Glad things are better than expected for you and whatnot.
How do the Mods of this community keep track of Vote Counts?
For me, I use a blank MS Word sheet and keep track on there. while labeling the post # I left off on so that I know where to continue from.
I''m sure there are easier ways, but lets hear some of them.
I multi-quote. It's probably one of the least efficient ways to do it, but it means I am not relying on a document that I can only access from my PC (I've done VCs from other computers before).
I keep a personal quicktopic for modding, and just record every vote in there, like so:
#11 Void votes Seppel
#13 Iso votes Wheat
#16 Guardman votes Cyan
#19 Void votes Iso
When someone places a 'new' vote, I un-bold or un-color their last one, and constantly update a running vote tally in another post. So there should always be X amount of votes (or unvotes) highlighted, where X is the number of players in the game.
(I do this as a player, too, sometimes, to keep track of voting patterns)
@AsianInvasian
Is why I use a QuickTopic - is accessible from any computer.
I search for my last post with a votecount, copy and paste it into notepad, and skim posts until I get to the most recent post, changing votes as I do. Afterwards, I change the number in parentheses, make a note of L-2 or closer (to lynch), and post that with any additional information necessary. My votecounts are also very intuitive - the oldest wagon is on top and the oldest vote on that wagon is on the left.

I just use an elaborate speadsheet (which has now been converted into a google drive excel clone to allow use and consistancy across any number of machines and moderators), which has each player and who they are voting for, and automatically counts up who has how many votes, and how many players are not voting as a result.

I ask because I haven't seen anything since Xyre left the position.
Typically, hosts are responsible for getting their own setups reviewed. The most effective way to do this is to individually contact potential reviewers.

I disagree, Guardman. I've found most commonly that most reviewers won't go out of their way to contact you if you request it in the hosting thread.

In fact the only game of mine that I didn't have to scrap and dig for a reviewer after several rejections was my basic and Eeveelution (which was sort of special as only iLord was really qualified to review it).
Per my request, we now have a [Clan] tag for CCM games, as well as clan-run games. I'll update the past games with this when I have the opportunity to do so. In addition, the [League] tag has been changed to [League/Normal] due to the queue setup changes.
