Prefix tag colors: It has come to my attention that some people in the sub find the multiple prefix colors an eyesore. Another informal poll, keep them as they are or change all to a uniform color?
I like the color-coding because it allows me to find games of certain types when I want to, but if others don't, perhaps we could switch to less bright, but similar colors. I'm not sure if that would address their concerns, but it is worth a shot.
No offense Iso, but I think its just a matter of you have too much on your plate (RL, Games your in, League starting up, etc) and dont want to ask for help or feel like doing a little extra work here and there. Ive said it before and I'll say it again. A 2nd secretary, one with more time on their hands, would be a great addition to the sub.
Are you volunteering to help?
I have faith in Iso, but I also recognize that he has a lot going on.
@atlseal: Oh I see where you're coming from. That actually makes sense.
A possible solution could be a note on the player contact thread saying 'new players start here'...I think we had something like that before. I feel that each sticky is relevant, so there isn't any way to slim down. The only fix I can think of is to make subforums, which might be more trouble than it's worth.
As far as color, what we have now is more or less aesthetic randomness. What if we had difficulty color tiers? Basics blue, Minis teal, Normals white (or gray), League gold, and FTQ/Specialty red? This seems natural for me coming from gaming conventions and would instantly be recognizable for newbies.

That's got nothing to do with it. It's an organizational disaster - trust me. It may seem practical from an outsider perspective, but there is no benefit to the conglomeration of a mess that merging the replacement/pcl with the hosting list would become. Players would have to go back several pages to find if people needed a replacement or not - that's counterproductive. The pcl and replacement need to be their own separate thing to ensure maximum efficiency to keep games going - that's one big reason I asked for mod powers. To keep the list clean. (It would also help a lot if hosts told me if they got their replacement, since I don't make it a point to keep up with every game. XD)
As for Zionite's suggestion, those colors show up just fine on my theme of choice.

I think Tordeck would be a very good co-secretary.
In the forums, some sections have "helper mods" for a duration of time (usually when that particular forum is pretty busy) for a while to see if they mesh well with the forum they're moderating and understand how things work. If they do a good enough job, they're promoted to mod. If things fall through the cracks, they are thanked for their service and the higher staff looks elsewhere.
Maybe Tordeck could be a "helper secretary" while Iso has these other commitments on his shoulders. If the council thinks he's doing a good job, he could be promoted to co-secretary.
We'd like to invite you back to participate in games at this point, Manders, but our consensus is that we should wait and move a little less precipitously about moving you back into an official, prominent position in the sub.
Tordeck, I would support you being a Co-Secretary if Iso wants help.

If Iso requests assisstance in the form of a co-secretary, then we (the council, in conjunction with the community) will look into appointing one. Until then, I see no reason to put more unnecessary cooks to work on the broth, so to speak. I trust Iso to let us know if he ever feels like there is too much on his plate.
Edit: I also like the colours for the thread tags. I don't have any particular eyesore issue with them.

I like them. I mean, so far I'm mainly using them to pick out the one game I'm playing in from the others, but the colour makes that easier.

The only one that I have a problem with is the Mini tag color, but other than that it's fine.
Also on the colors do we have plans to add an "other" and "sign-up" color so that we don't have colorless threads floating around like they are members of The Dollars.

Oh, Other would be cool for all the old Newbie games, as well as clan games and CCM games.
I was thinking that the Clan and Clan contest games would just have the tag [Clan]. And since newbies were just precursors to the modern basic would they not fall under that tag?
I dunno, I never really considered them Basics, but if other people want to weigh in I can also change the Newbies to have Basic tags. I just got into 2006, so that and 2005 to go and I'll be done tagging everything but clan and newbie games.

All done! Every game, sans CCM/Clan games, have been tagged, Newb games have been affixed with the [Basic] prefix and numbered accordingly, all old sign-up threads have been moved to the "Old Sign-Ups" area, and old hosting/rules lists (as well as a few memorable threads, such as the Test Thread and the "Mafia, Anyone?" thread) are the only things remaining that aren't tagged (excluding the one Mod Mafia game that got moved here from the Mod Mafia area). I just double-checked it, but if anyone sees anything missing or that needs fixing, please point it out to me and I'll hop on it. (This includes the "completed games" list.)

Ok! All of the above. May I be taken off of probation now, please? Those games demonstrate me neither using old tricks that people disliked, nor flipping out and breaking rules (posting my role PM, for example, regardless of why). I've done my time. Can I move on now?

Eh I disagree. What "in such a manner" even means escapes me. I've proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that my behavior has changed with many examples and completed games. As there were no rules against the second "transgression" at the time, I still feel the latter was a mistake of ignorance, not malice. I thought Azrael and I had established that he had done the same out of frustration at one time.
Beyond this, I'm taking a serious break from Mafia anyway. Just wanted to have my status updated before I leave.

Arti, you may have been my mentor at one point and helped me learn the game, but since then I have been trouble enjoying games that you have played in with me.
The plea you posted doesn't prove anything other than you are self-aware of how you are playing. That self-awareness rubbed me the wrong way with how you approached it. It's reasoning that was not necessary in that post. If the Council had asked for a reason, then you would want to supply the reason.
If you truly care about this game, and know that the Probation List is not closely followed when it comes to choosing players for a game, then you would not care being on the list.
I don't want you take this personally, but you did screw up. And screw ups need to be kept recorded in case the behavior shows again.
FWIW, I believe that Artfice 101 should stay on the Probation List.
How do you not understand that it's a matter of pride? It's embarrassing to be on that list regardless of whether it stops him joining games. It has nothing to do with reoffending. I feel like Artifice's punishment has probably been just, but his treatment during it has not. This is just rude.

In response to me defeating the town in a Perfect Scum Victory in Avatar Mafia:

I can understand this.
I never thought he should have been probated to begin with so my opinion is obvious.
The thing's that I see language saying that he's repenting for his behaviour and language saying that it was a mistake born of ignorance. If I felt it was sincere, I'd be the first to petition that probation be lifted. Yet I can't. You can't apologize for your behaviour yet maintain that you did nothing wrong. It's like the phrase "If I offended you, then I'm sorry."
I feel that this is reinforced by what he said at the end of Legend of Aang Mafia. Simply put, he argued that if he wasn't on probation, he'd have been perfectly willing to bring outside elements into it. That phrase, to me, symbolized the whole issue of it. He doesn't see anything wrong with what he did - he's simply responding to others' reactions. Putting it another way, he's not sorry for his behaviour, he's sorry for the fact that there were hostile reactions to it.

I agree with this. I feel like he's putting on the show of being remorseful, but it's insincere.

How is it more embarrassing if he's on the probation list or if he's off of it? Everyone knows what Artifice did and it is easily searchable in this thread. If he feels more proud for not being on the probation list, he's diluting himself because everyone either knows or can know what he did.

I disagree with all of you, obviously, and Yanni you should honestly just stay out of this. You have a vested interest in hating me, and you know it.
I'm a little disappointed that the Council hasn't spoken about this at all, whether to agree to consider it or table it for now.
To my naysayers, you are wrong. I'm sorry for the drama I caused and for the actions I took in the one thing I did that was wrong, quoting my role.. Anything else I did is a kangaroo court of opinions given that there were no rules in place to guide me. I have done so much reading on this game here and elsewhere that I would have known, no question, if such a rule existed.
If you believe me insincere, you should likely rethink your reading comprehension. I have incredibly important things going on in my real life at the moment. I'll not prostrate myself on a game message board when a simple and honest (ask AsianInvasion) apology and statement that I understand what I've done wrong and have ceased doing it will suffice.
Has there ever been a precedence of anyone asking this to happen before? If not, then what exactly do you expect me to do? Play 50 more games? A hundred? I'd like a ruling and I'd like to be forgiven, not because it doesn't matter on the surface of what I'm allowed to do, but because it matters on the level of how the system is supposed to work and I believe I have satisfied that system.
I'm disappointed, Void. I called you out on your scum playstyle and you say this. It actually makes me sad man. The rest of you, really, what is the point of continuing to bash me (besides Yanni, who I expect no less from)? I'm asking for a simple reversal of a stigmatic listing, when the record of my transgressions will live on here. Please, just let me move on from this ugly chapter given that I've done what was asked of me.
Thanks.

And yet you still are not grasping everything you did wrong. This is the exact reason why you should stay on the list.
Yes, you did call me out. But what you are negelcting to mention is the emotion that you used to get your point across. I even made a comment towards you that you need to remove your emotions whe playing. This is your biggest issue by far. It's the reason that you have "Unsportman like conduct" labeled with your PM Quoting. The former being what you left out above.
Continuing pushing for it Artifice. I truly hope that you can change ways and prove it to the Council.
Btw, just becasue the Council hasn't posted here does not mean that they are not discussing it. They do have closed doors after all.

Right, youre sorry for "the one thing you did wrong". Youve clearly learned nothing and I for one would like to see you on probation so at least you have a check to stop you from acting how you "feel" is okay, when its not.
Furthermore, you should be blacklisted. If you dont realize this then maybe you should check your reading comprehension. As an aside, how dare you be so insulting. Like I said, its clear you havnt changed a damn bit dude.
Edit: if you want my opinion on a timetable, imo there shouldnt be one. You should be on lifetime probation, with chance of parole, but no timetable for it. I still have no idea why you werent blacklisted, as I was suspended at the time I believe.

Artifice, I'll put it this way: probation or not, a not-insignificant part of the community seems frustrated with you personally, beyond any one game. That that sentiment hasn't changed in the intervening time speaks much more than any probation status. And your angry apology speaks volumes more.
Perhaps your efforts would be better served by considering that. Friendly advice.

Cant speak for others but I was in Cyberpunk and then hosted is first game after it and between the two I never really saw a reason for his probation in the first place. Yes the PM quoting was wrong but as a first offense not sure if probation was the right call. As for the OOG stuff, it wasnt against the rules at the time. Was some of it in bad taste, sure. But what he did was not against the rules and therefor not punishable.

I can understand this.
I never thought he should have been probated to begin with so my opinion is obvious.
LOL
Echo this. Cyou, as usual, has hit the nail on the head.

AsianInvasion and Arcadic each have Basics in Day 1 - maybe one of them could poll their players for you?
Thanks.
Johnny, born and raised. Always lookin' for the Next Level Combo. Thanks to Bornover of FHLS for the banner!

Guess Artifice missed this in my last post.

You're right Tordeck, we should just let everyone PM quote when they get frustrated with the game.
