Night 4 You all gather once more in the storage room. A quick count shows only four of you remain. Unsurprisingly, Audinho is the one missing. You head to his room together and find blood spilling out from between two large file cabinets. When you walk closer, you spot a body wedged between them, apparently crushed to death. You pry the cabinets apart to free the corpse.
Audinho is dead.
You are surprised to see another body under him. Who could that possibly be?
Audinho is dead.
Another Audinho? And this one was also stabbed in the gut, a broken knife remains in the wound. You check both bodies and find a horoscope in the first one's pocket:
Gemini (Town Double Voter)
Your Horoscope: Your lives are going to soon become a confusing mess,
and the only sure things you'll have are each other. When the
situation is at it's worst, you may panic and attempt to flee from
everything. However, you'll soon discover that once you stop running
away and instead just stand together to face your problems, things
will suddenly come together for you.
Win Condition: You win when all members of the Mafia are Eliminated.
Abilities: You are twins. You have an additional Vote. You may use
these Votes separately, to vote for different players, or you may use
them together to vote for one player twice. (You may also unvote these
Votes separately. Posting just “unvote” will remove both of your
Votes.)
You all stand, very still, eyeing each other cautiously. It seems as though MzztrTetris' dying wish was carried out. So... now what?
Day 5 - Archmage Eternal Looking down at the two dead Audinhos, you suddenly understand why MzztrTetris was so concerned. A secret twin certainly changed the numbers of this situation. But now, they are both dead, and the sides are even, just two on two. There is no more progress to be made here, you know this will all end today. You stare at the others, watching them stare back at you and at each other, everyone just waiting nervously to see who will make the first move.
A piercing shriek breaks the tension. Judging by the look on everyone's face, they are all as confused as you are. Another scream spills from the hallway into the room. You rush to the door to see where it is coming from, and you hear the group quickly follow behind you. You gaze up and down the empty hallway, seeing nothing, when another shout reaches your ears. It's coming from the lab. You race down the hall leading the others.
Lying on the lab floor, next to the tables, you see Dr. Artemis is awake. She fiercely clutches at her chest with her left hand, gasping and screaming. You are the first in the room, and when she sees you, she reaches her hand up toward you with pleading eyes. You rush to her side without hesitation, bending down and taking her hand.
Archmage Eternal is dead.
Day 5 - Trusted Wave You come down the hallway right behind Archmage Eternal. As you reach the lab, you realize the yelling is unexpectedly coming from Dr. Artemis, who is somehow awake. You watch as AE races over to help her. And you can hardly believe your eyes, when Dr. Artemis pulls her other hand out from under the table wielding a large hatchet. With one swift, fluid motion, she brings the blade up to meet Archmage Eternal's neck, cleanly decapitating him. Blood sprays the room as AE's disembodied head tumbles on the ground.
You just stare into space, stunned.
Day 5 - Mephit You enter the lab last, alongside Wessel. It takes you a moment to digest the scene. Once again, there is blood everywhere. This time, Archmage Eternal is on the floor, in pieces. And Dr. Artemis is awake! And she has a hatchet? Did she kill him?!
"Dr. Artemis, are you okay? What happened?" you ask abruptly.
"I'm fine," she reassuringly replies, "When he got close, I used this and killed him. The Pisces is the one who poisoned me."
"So, is everything okay now? Is it over?" you inquire hopefully.
"Not quite," she responds, shaking her head, "The Sagittarius is in on it too." She slowly brings the hatchet up and points it at Wessel. "Why don't you go check his pockets?"
You turn to face Wessel, who is now standing with arms raised in surrender. You reach into his pocket and feel a small metal ring, which jingles as you pull it out. "Aquarius," she calls to you while walking over to stand by your side, "you're good with keys right?" She smiles and winks at you while motioning down the hallway with her head, "would you mind unlocking that door so we can get out of here?"
"Of course," you answer politely, and walk briskly towards the exit. You excitedly turn Wessel's key chain over and over in your hands. You can't believe it, it's finally over. When you reach the messy storage room, still filled with the disgusting smell of burnt flesh, you begin running, eager to get out of this place. You leap up the stairs, two at a time, preparing the keys in your hand so you can open the locks as fast as possible when you reach the top.
As you hop towards second to last step, you realize it's been a while since you've had this much physical activity. You also discover that your body doesn't like it, especially when you are this hungry. Everything gets blurry. Your foot comes down, just missing the step. Your legs fly out from under you, sending you face first into the metal edge. You tumble painfully down the hard steps, room flipping end over end. You hear bones snapping as you fall faster and faster. You see the ceiling far below you, and the floor just above you as your head slams into the ground, body crashing down on top of it. There is one final snapping noise from your neck as everything goes black.
Mephit is dead.
Day 5 - Wessel You stare at Mephit racing down the hallway with your keys, anger overwhelming your confusion. You've been through so much, you were so close, this can't be happening. As the leader, you can't let this happen. Everything would have been fine if it wasn't for her. Maybe there is still a chance, then. She seems distracted now, watching Mephit on his way to freedom. This may be your last hope. You quickly ball your hand into a fist and swing a sucker punch towards the side of her face.
Without turning or looking, she reaches up and easily catches your hand. She smiles and whispers to you, "No, relax, just watch," as she releases your fist and points at Mephit. The three of you stand, side by side, gazing quietly down the hallway. Just before reaching the top, Mephit falls back down the steps, landing with a sickening crack. He doesn't move.
"Now, give me your horoscopes, then go get theirs," Dr. Artemis instructs you and Trusted Wave, "we don't want to leave any evidence... Oh right, give him a minute." She smiles and steps back, keeping her eyes on TW.
All of a sudden, Trusted Wave runs to the corner, grabs a small table, and tosses it across the lab screaming, "What is going on!!!" He runs to another table, and throws it, sending a stack of papers flying, "What just happened!!!" He reaches a large table and tips it over, knocking several computers onto the floor in a crash, "AAAAAHHHHHH!!!!"
You stop watching Truted Wave's crazed furniture smashing and turn to Dr. Artemis, "Wait... did you know that would happen to Mephit?"
"I knew all of this would happen. My prediction system is very accurate."
"So, why did you let him die? And, why did you kill Archmage Eternal? Why are you helping us when we poisoned you?"
"They needed to die because they knew too much. And I'm helping you because of that ruthless drive. It's exactly what I need."
"So, this was all some kind of test, then?"
"No, that implies a chance of failure. Think of it as more of a recruitment/training seminar."
"What about MzztrTetris?"
"He played his role. His observational skills provided you with needed information in this setting. However, we'll have no use for him now. My star charts give us all the knowledge we'll ever need."
Once Trusted Wave calms down, you go collect the horoscopes and hand them to Dr. Artemis:
Libra (Vanilla Town)
Your Horoscope: Your naturally diplomatic tendencies will be put to the test, as a great conflict is in your near future. Despite your best efforts, a peaceful resolution may not be possible. But even if things do take a turn for the worst, the most important thing you can do is to stay focused and not lose your head.
Win Condition: You win when all members of the Mafia are Eliminated.
Abilities: None.
Aquarius (Town Bullet Proof)
Your Horoscope: What lies ahead may seem unbearable, but your boundless creativity means that the key to your survival is always in sight. But while that ability to think outside the box may come in handy, contrarianism has it's useful limits, and seeing the world from an unusual angle isn't always a good thing.
Win Condition: You win when all members of the Mafia are Eliminated.
Abilities: A key you take from Dr. Artemis' neck chain will allow you to lock yourself in a room. You cannot be killed during the Night phases of the game (you may still be Lynched during the Day).
Sagittarius (Mafia Leader)
Your Horoscope: Your optimism in the face of uncertainty has lead you far in life, but in order to successfully navigate these new risks you'll face, you must be willing to accept the very real danger before you. While things aren't too bad yet, they can change in an instant, and things that seem clear to you now, may not be forever.
Win Condition: You win when the Mafia control at least half of the Votes.
Abilities: As leader of the Mafia, you will have the final say in who performs which Night Abilities, should your team be unable to reach an agreement.
Pisces (Vanilla Mafia)
Your Horoscope: You'll soon find yourself pulled out of your normal life by some bizarre circumstances. You should be prepared to face one surprise after another. However, no amount of bracing will have you ready to face the final, most shocking event of all.
Win Condition: You win when the Mafia control at least half of the Votes.
Abilities: None.
You, Trusted Wave, and Dr. Artemis head upstairs together and walk through the store. It seems so long ago that you were last here, and now everything has changed. When you came up with this plan, you never could have predicted things would turn out the way they have. But at least you'll never have that problem again. Game Over.
Thanks again to Pale Mage for reviewing my game and providing great feedback. Thanks to all my players for playing and making it a really fun game to watch and host. And many thanks for keeping activity levels good throughout and having very few replacements. -Thanks to you all, this game ran very smoothly, and was a wonderful experience for my first time moderating.
Oh, and Mafia/Game MVP goes to Wessel, who was amazing throughout. Great reads on the town, was barely suspected at all, and was a good leader for his team. Congratulations to you, as well as Trusted Wave and MzztrTetris, who also played very well.
Thank you for the wonderful game, everyone. Especially you, TFF, for the great moderating and absolutely delectable flavor. Give this man a round of applause! He deserves it
Oh, yeah, my triple table flip It was a very pleasant surprise to see you go out of your way to include my character in the flavor, TFF ^ ^ Kudos, good sir. Kudos indeed.
Well, well... Thanks for playing everyone, well played scum. Particularly wessel, you posted very townish in my eyes. Almost to the point where it's scary.
I played a bad day 1, I realized that as we went through that day. I did grasp that I should've been aggressive, but lacked the requisite offensiveness and sheer number of posts. Too bad, but thats learning for me. Like Wessel said, I feel I picked up from there. Too late, as I was allready investigated and hence no missed NK's. The reason for our many mislynches must partly be credited a good maf team.
GG guys. Very well played by Wessel. I had a couple of suspicious moments about you, but they were quickly quashed by good "town" posts.
I'm generally a little annoyed by having my first powerrole be something I couldn't use at all until the absolute endgame, but that's just the way the cookie crumbles I suppose.
When I first began I wanted to be pushed to a claim, use my double vote to confirm my townieness and hopefully be docprotected. In hindsight I see that Mephit could probably have claimed Doc in that case, but since you guys are GOSU-scum you allready knew he was unkillable so that wouldn't have worked either.
All in all, very well played by scum. I do think the game was made harder by people not posting though, as it was easy for scum to hide between them. I have however learned a lot from this game. Excellent setup, exquisite moderation and flavour to die for.
I agree fully with the assesment of Wessel as Game MVP.
I regret that we overthought the pinkfloyd NK, and did not apply Occams Razor to go after Tezz. When pinkfloyd flipped tracker I actually got so far that I thought Tezz could be Doc, since he clearly had been investigated and found to have a power role.

@Wessel- You peeked my interest early on as seeming to be playing safe. I didn't make a big deal as there was nothing to make a case on. I figured if you would buss then all the better for us.
I'm really glad everyone enjoyed the flavor. I had a lot of fun writing it and planning out all the death scenes to go with the horoscopes. I'm also pleasantly surprised that people seem to have liked the set-up, despite the one-sided way in which it played out.
When I first began I wanted to be pushed to a claim, use my double vote to confirm my townieness and hopefully be docprotected.
That was the basic idea of the role, to give the town a confirmed player since the investigative ability couldn't really clear people. Unfortunately, the town had some really bad luck with their abilities overall. -You were never under pressure to use your role to clear yourself, and the town was too far behind in the endgame for your vote to help much. Mephit was rolecopped immediately and rendered useless. And pinkfloyd actually tracked scum, but he picked the one that wasn't doing anything.

I see that you're doing another basic. May I say Tarot Major Arcana for flavor? (or are you sick of doing members holding cards?)
When TW nightkilled Audinho, that produced a funny image in my head - Yotsuba (TW's avvy) wielding a knife, trying to struggle against Audinho, the hydralisk -
Also, Wes is a really good player, I even watched him night 1 because I expected him to be NK'ed
-You know that's not how your ability worked, right?
You would have seen what actions Wessel was doing, not who did stuff to Wessel. It would have been hilarious if you accidentally caught Wessel NKing someone.

Lol.
As for the beeing European-thing I agree with Wessel. I spent whole days refreshing pages that never showed anything, just waiting for the next day so I could have 4-5 posts to read. But then again, I have way to much time on my hands nowadays.
The setup seems really balanced, I think it was just luck by scum/bad luck by town that made the outcome so incredibad.
And I'd love to play another basic modded by FooFish. Don't really care what the flavour is, as I'm sure it's going to be awesome either way.
