The way MMoD played this feels wrong to me. It doesn't make sense to reveal when multiple targetted the same person, especially when one of them was someone who had expressed suspicion of Az on D1. I don't doubt that he's a watcher but I'm not sure which side he's batting for. Then again, I can't really see a scum motive for claiming this early under no pressure without knowing mroe about Guardman and/or Tekno's alignments.
Az was pretty obv town IMO (and for most people), him + kpaca's back and forth made it seem even more so, so why would anyone kill him?
I saw Guardman, Tekno and perhaps others target Az. At first look I thought it might be Guardman, but I was unsure as I thought he had more restraint. Then I see Tekno's opening post mentioning the kills - sealed the deal. Dunno how long you've been playing but saying it like that just twinges my radar completely and I'm pretty sure some others didn't feel good about it either.
@TMF: You're voting him just because PM said so?

DYH was confirmed town by the modkill, and Pale Mage apparently replaced him as part of a night action. Shouldn't that make it safe to assume he's town?

Now having said that, I am going to undertake an experiment. I will now be working from the mafia point of view. With everything but my night actions, I will actively try and generate mislynches, find town power roles to kill, and otherwise act as a scum would act. I am not trying to act scummy--rather I'm trying to not look scummy--I'm acting like I'm trying to win as scum.
I don't know if nom is town or scum. But I'd like to point out this type of behavior is his standard modus operandi.
Court Mafia: Day 1, hatch plan to KILL EVERYONE ELSE IN A SINGLE NIGHT, when the plan only allows him to hit 11 random players, ATTEMPTS TO FIRE ANYHOW (Roleblocked).
In other words....Nom is an impulsive player who doesn't think about planning long-term or listening to others. I wouldn't be surprised if he was town. At all.
how do you expect this to help us nom and why isnt it easy for a scum to say that? I dont think your scum but it does sound a bit like "don't suspect me"!

What?! Look at the initial post; he is dead. Deceased. Kaputt. Indefinitely horizontal. In mafia games, you see, people are occasionally "killed off," and when that sad event occurs, he or she is no longer allowed to post, on account of rigor mortis and what-have-you.
'Welcome to Mafia Salvation', it said, 'Population: 3,660.' And someone, they never figured out who, had painted on the sign in red letters: '1,831 to lynch.'
If I had been watching Az as he died night 1, I would definitely spill it. A town watcher is mid-power role, and trading for a scum is almost certainly going to be worth it. Sure, we got unlucky with a vig on Az night 1, but I don't think mmod was wrong to come out.
If it was a guaranteed trade for scum then I would agree but it was a possible trade for scum.
Errr. To be more precise, 'Lord Rahl' is the person you speak of in the first book, and is someone else entirely for every book after that. And that someone else entirely is pretty certainly town.
Heh. I probably shouldn't try to explain flavor when I've only read one book.
Az was pretty obv town IMO (and for most people), him + kpaca's back and forth made it seem even more so, so why would anyone kill him?

Hmm, I didn't think about Tekno's post playing into this. That makes more sense I suppose. The thing that bothers me is that Guardman had expressed a ton of suspicion on Az and it looks like you barely gave the possibility of Guardman killing him a cursory glance.

So the point is to try to get in the head of the scum and try to see who scum would target? I don't see this as working because you don't have the information scum do so you would act differently. Besides everybody acts differently anyway. And this all assumes you're town anyway. You could just be scum gambiting. If you are town, why do you assume that everybody will trust you?
DYH was confirmed town by the modkill, and Pale Mage apparently replaced him as part of a night action. Shouldn't that make it safe to assume he's town?
You see, confirmed town doesn't necessary equate to confirmed right. So in effect what you're engaging in here is the worst kind of barning -- latching onto an experienced and confirmed player with a blind vote and absolutely no reasoning of your own.

tunnel vision is a bit much for me and he is not really answering questions posed to him(ala the calvin asked why is he scummy and was ignored) randomly ignoring people is not the way to make friends in mafia lols. Then again the nom anor gambit thing also strikes me the wrong way, there are to many people I think are scum right now to vote I think I will unvote and reavaluate for the present
no one cares about your opinion, the whole idea of mafia is top care about everyones opinion and whether I think he is scummish or not brushing him aside as though his opinion meens nothing is certainly not the right way to go about things. He is not confirmed mafia and I believe barely has 1 or 2 voters on him.
snarky or not it seemed like you were brushing carrion pigons opinions aside because he was voting for you. I may have been a bit hasty however reasesment still required it just seemed a little scummish to me to compeltely devalue somones opinion.

@dC: The irony of your posts regarding me will become apparent at some point in the not-too-distant future.
Some One is still my main target. In his 21 posts, I have failed to see him take any relevant position at all. And here's something really fun: throughout all of D1, he did not vote a single time (other than a random vote on kpaca.) He never gave opinions as to the alignment of even one of the top lynch suspects. His sum contribution to this game, so far, has been nil. Vote Some One.
I can't read your post, but if it means that other than you and me targeting Az, can you please give a detailed list of who targeted Az with a night action as well?
Why would you ask this? To get a better game plan for NK's?
I can confirm I have targeted Azrael with a night action, but I certainly didn't kill him.
So you jump on the first possible bandwagon without any arguments to prove it? Great! Thanks for pointing out that you're scum.

For my ability to have any effect, I need to find Lord Rahl. If I can't find him, I'm just a vanilla townie.

You target Az(which you never say why you chose him) so how can you know someone is in the shadows? I also don't like how he follows Az but Az was in his tent. Kpaca was the one walking around.

This leads me to believe this is why Tek is looking for him, to kill him. If he's not scum he's an SK.
I see Tek trying to fluff together a reason on targeting Az. Doing so after Guardman claims the kill. Now he's in the clear on Az's death and then fabricates a story. Vote TeknoLink
I already gave a few arguments. He jumps on a bandwagon without any arguments, just says: We should vote Teknolink! Yes! Vote him!, and there is a significant difference between the way he acted day 1 vs day 2.
Uh huh. And you can't think of any pro-town reason why I would act like this, I'm sure.
Wait, maybe...you're scum, and my behavior is as pro-town as it gets!

As far as Az leaving his tent last night I can concur with Tek. He left his tent and I don't know why (my PM said I didn't). Also based on his reactions today I am feeling that Tek is Town since also his info has pretty much lined up with the info in my PM last night (baring the stuff about Richard and such).
@ TMF: Even if PM "is" confirmed, why would you just follow his lead? Confirmed doesn't mean right, ya know.
I'm amused that [Shalako], of all people, are talking about terrible reasoning. "Hey, PF's RVS daykill must be serious, therefore I should shoot him to prove that I have a daykill!"
Uh huh. And you can't think of any pro-town reason why I would act like this, I'm sure.
Wait, maybe...you're scum, and my behavior is as pro-town as it gets!
I have thought about one possible explanation for all your behaviour. However for the explanation I have, there are better ways of going about it and also it's possible that I'm only seeing it because you want me to see it i.e. you are scum gambitting. It all requires far more trust than I am willing to extend to you.
@ TMF: Even if PM "is" confirmed, why would you just follow his lead? Confirmed doesn't mean right, ya know.
confirmed townies are valuable, and it's comparatively early in the day. I mostly wanted to see if his plan was going anywhere, and it's not a particularly large sacrifice on my part to chip in my support for the moment.

That last sentence is valid. Trouble is, we have no way of knowing if this is a legitimate experiment, or a mere gambit to have an open excuse to post scummily with no repercussions. (Not even going into the unreliability of the experiment itself, given that a hypothetical town you doesn't actually know who the scum are.)
If you were a confirmed townie, we might not have this issue -- but as a question mark, I don't see how you can expect anyone to trust an 'experiment' of this nature, or for anyone to be able to fully believe that it is an experiment in the first place.

Way to not answer my questions. Here they are again:
1. Why do you think zindabad is town? Explain.
2. Why do you think I am scum? Explain.
3, modified. Why do you think Some One is town? Explain.
(And I reiterate -- I'm not going to accept the excuse of 'I was posting as scum' if these answers don't satisfy me.)
1. Zindabad's hyper-aggressiveness may have been rather misguided, but it hasn't felt suspicious to me. Plus I'm WIFOMING him, thinking he wouldn't attack only townies as mafia.
2. Because you're scummy. You avoid personal involvement and hide behind long strings of quote behind people. Plus, you don't feel right.
3. I really don't feel like answering this.

True, but:
1. Somebody has to try something cool the first time. If you lynch me without letting me do it now, I'll just do it next time. And if I get lynched that time, I'll try it again the time after. And so on, until you people either stop lynching me for trying something new, or it stops being something new because I've done it so often.
2. It's an experiment because it's something that isn't necessarily reliable.
3. Well, I'm someone who has drawn no attention besides for No-Lynch voting yesterday. And there's a large risk in trying such a gambit. And even if it works, there's no reason to believe it will keep me from getting lynched if I act scummy later. So, no, you don't have any reason to trust it. But you also don't have any reason to assume I'm mafia.

If it was a guaranteed trade for scum then I would agree but it was a possible trade for scum.
Heh. I probably shouldn't try to explain flavor when I've only read one book.
Hmm, I didn't think about Tekno's post playing into this. That makes more sense I suppose. The thing that bothers me is that Guardman had expressed a ton of suspicion on Az and it looks like you barely gave the possibility of Guardman killing him a cursory glance.
That's a lot of headbangs. Too many, in fact.
Because you didn't answer my question of what makes him so scummy.

I beg to differ. My fingers have been firmly pointed at Johm, zindabad, and TMF for quite a while now -- Infnis is a new addition.
@Pale Mage
I don't like AE, but I think I don't like zindabad and TMF more.
@The Motley Fool
You see, confirmed town doesn't necessary equate to confirmed right. So in effect what you're engaging in here is the worst kind of barning -- latching onto an experienced and confirmed player with a blind vote and absolutely no reasoning of your own.

Why? Explain.
Why? Explain.
Which, and why? Explain.
(And don't give me any of that 'experiment' bovine faeces when you answer these, thanks. I won't accept that excuse.)

tunnel vision is a bit much for me and he is not really answering questions posed to him(ala the calvin asked why is he scummy and was ignored) randomly ignoring people is not the way to make friends in mafia lols.

I liked it yesterday when you detailed your reasons for votes and such.
On another note, I think it's about time Wrath of Dog received a prod.
Yes.
No.
You know what happened when Alfred Nobel "experimented" with nitroglycerine, surely?
@dC: The irony of your posts regarding me will become apparent at some point in the not-too-distant future.
Some One is still my main target. In his 21 posts, I have failed to see him take any relevant position at all. And here's something really fun: throughout all of D1, he did not vote a single time (other than a random vote on kpaca.) He never gave opinions as to the alignment of even one of the top lynch suspects. His sum contribution to this game, so far, has been nil. Vote Some One.
"...a talisman against all evil, so long as you obey me."
I don't get why you would say Az's death seems least evil but then say you can't see a townie targeting Az and call out Tek as the killer.
I believe he tried.
Why would you ask this? To get a better game plan for NK's?
Maybe because Guardman beat you to the punch.
Then you must hate TMT's vote on me also. But you said nothing of the barning vote.
Don't like this.
You target Az(which you never say why you chose him) so how can you know someone is in the shadows? I also don't like how he follows Az but Az was in his tent. Kpaca was the one walking around.
MMoD watched Az and saw Gaurdman, Tek and apperently others target Az
Horrible.
This leads me to believe this is why Tek is looking for him, to kill him. If he's not scum he's an SK.
I see Tek trying to fluff together a reason on targeting Az. Doing so after Guardman claims the kill. Now he's in the clear on Az's death and then fabricates a story.

@ TMF: Even if PM "is" confirmed, why would you just follow his lead? Confirmed doesn't mean right, ya know.
12-11? I'm losing track
I can excuse that but not your lack of explanation.
I have thought about one possible explanation for all your behaviour. However for the explanation I have, there are better ways of going about it and also it's possible that I'm only seeing it because you want me to see it i.e. you are scum gambitting. It all requires far more trust than I am willing to extend to you.

confirmed townies are valuable, and it's comparatively early in the day. I mostly wanted to see if his plan was going anywhere, and it's not a particularly large sacrifice on my part to chip in my support for the moment.
Um... this is a pretty poor reasoning. It seems more to me that you wanted to look townie and latched onto the "confirm" town.

Yes, after seeing what Guardman said I'm going back to read up. I posted 2 days ago. You? Lets see, maybe I should be asking you that question.

So you're saying you think it would be less scummy to back down such an experiment after YOU and ONLY YOU had any "protestations"? Nice job though, implying the town was against it. Must be very comfortable to have the backing of a dozen imaginary players.
Maybe you're right: perhaps this experiment won't gain anything. But isn't it foolish to not try something simply because nobody's done it before.

That is the most scumtastic defense I can recall in recent memory.
To argue your post of a quote plus a fos is somehow better than D_V's actual, if somewhat space, posting because he only posted every three days is laughable enough. Yet then, even better, you use "Interesting." to imply he's scummy without commuting yourself to it at all. Nice deflection(insert high five here).

If you have no hope for it, why do you suddenly want a confirmed townie to take over? Wouldn't that be bad?

How am I deflecting? I don't see how I have anything to deflect. He accuses me of having no content so I call him on it. What defense do I need? He says I've been lurking for days, what has he been doing over those days? So its laughable that I bring up his posting but you don't laugh at him bringing my posting up?
Not seeing anything in this experiment but a way to hop on wagons.
Wanted to look back on him before voting but I don't like the way Nom Anor took the opportune time to jump on my wagon with a very weak excuse.

You were attempting to deflect his accusation of your lack of content by pointing back at him. Other people also being lurkey doesn't make you less lurky.
Nice OMGUS. (Insert high-five here).
