Yeah, DON'T vig Kenji... that's a :badidea:. I believe the "counterclaim" was a joke, and i don't remember any reference to Elvis being in any of Adams books... but i could be wrong.
What?! Look at the initial post; he is dead. Deceased. Kaputt. Indefinitely horizontal. In mafia games, you see, people are occasionally "killed off," and when that sad event occurs, he or she is no longer allowed to post, on account of rigor mortis and what-have-you.
'Welcome to Mafia Salvation', it said, 'Population: 3,660.' And someone, they never figured out who, had painted on the sign in red letters: '1,831 to lynch.'
As we get closer to nightfall notice that Diggy and Beaker both still have votes on me. That wagon left a while back, guys. I'm already suspicious of beaker and Diggy less so. Just something to consider.
Ok, this day has went on for so long, and yes, I've been lurking, mostly because there isn't much to be said. There's been to much information given already, and this is just kind of one of those "Hey guys, I'm still here" posts. MS looks...HORRIBLE if that is really a counter claim.

*Cough* Elvis was in the HHGTG series, he was shown hanging out somewhere at random. Sorry I didn't get back here in time to stop the wagon. My friends and I were just talking about this the other day in fact. So unless Kenji was actually counterclaiming this may have been a poor lynch.

That may have been the last nail in your coffin... Everyone waiting to vote may now vote. Let's not be too mean on the poor guy, he didn't know he was false claiming someone who was actually in the game.... It'll fit quite nice-ly with me leaving... machin shin = Scum!
Honestly, I don't know how that could be taken as anything but a counterclaim.
Seeing that you all are unwilling to be swayed, Machin Shin climbs up on top of the console and starts dancing, swaying his hips, and pushing or kicking random buttons.
"Y'all ain't nothin' but hound dogs," he shouted. "They said you were all high class, but that was just a lie!" He whips out an 8-track tape labelled "Elvis' Greatest Hits" and shoves it into the slot where coordinates for the Improbability Drive would normally go.
Eddy, ever adaptable, reads it and says, "Okay guys, whatever you say." The whole ship starts blaring "You Ain't Nothin' But a Hound Dog," and begins to rock back forth in time to the music.
The rest of you, sliding around on the floor, are shouting at each other and generally panicking. Machin, surprisingly sure-footed for someone who weighs over three hundred pounds, continues to dance over the controls.
With one grand sway, the ship crashes into the generator creating the Normality Assert-I-Tron field, and everyone slides forward. Puzzle crashes into the spiral staircase in the middle of the room and struggles to hold on for dear life. With another big sway, everyone slides backwards, and Kenji smashes into the case holding the Kill-O-Zap pistol, which shatters. The pistol goes skittering acroos the floor.
Puzzle, seeing this, shouts to WellOfLostGnomes, the person nearest the gun. "Grab it!" he tries to shout over Machin's deafening "You ain't no friend of mine!" Unfortunately, WoLG was right next to a speaker, and couldn't hear much of anything.
Another sway came, and the gun slides right into kingcobweb's hand. He picks it up, looking scared. "Shoot him!" Puzzle shouts. "It's our only hope!" A hard look comes over KCW, and he turns to aim the gun at the disruptive element. Another strong sway comes, and KCW stumbles. His shot goes wide, and hits the console, which goes dim suddenly. The music stops.
Machin Shin is unphased, however. He continues dancing. Suddenly, he goes pale, and collapses against the wall. "My...heart..." His hands clench uselessly at anything they can reach as he slides toward the floor. Finally, he slumps sideways, dead.
Azrael runs forward, shouting, "Get him off, quick! He landed on the Improbability Drive!"
Puzzle looks smug. "Did you forget? It's useless. We're under a normality field."
Az turns back to him. "Does this look normal to you?!" bluesoul adds, "We don't know anything about that. Who ever said we could trust Eddy?"
Puzzle raises his finger and opens his mouth for a sharp retort, when the whole ship suddenly blinks out of existence.
Machin Shin, Elvis, mafia, is dead.

You awaken to the sound of thunder. About 100 feet above the ground. A thought passes far too quickly through your mind about the technique you were taught once about how to miss the ground, but then you look down, and see the stampede of extremely hefty-looking beasts directly below you, and you can't seem to take your mind off them, or rather off how much it's going to hurt as soon as they start trampling you. Of course, that's assuming that you survive the fall. You close your eyes and assume the fetal position.
Suddenly, a thought occurs. Why aren't you dead yet? You crack an eye, and notice that everyone else is floating their around you, doing exactly the same thing as you. Apparently the fear of being trampled by a herd of gigantic buffalo-like creatures was distracting enough to make you miss the ground.
Well, for most of you, anyway. You count and come up one short. Then you notice the body of Jobie being bounced and tossed violently between the beasts as they run. You try a tentative swoop to get closer; maybe to try to see what happened. With horror, you observe that one whole side of his head seems to have been blackened; burnt to charcoal.
You carefully retreat from the beasts' stampede, and you all make a dismal crash landing into some bushes. You have no idea where you are, but it's clear that there are still enemies among you. You need to deal with them!
Jobie, Dirk Gently, mason, is dead. With 19 alive, it is 10 to lynch.

@Kenji- why did you counter claim Elvis? That part of his role was correct. I'm happy we killed scum and all, but I'm a little weirded out that it seems like you lied to do it.
or a doc protected the right person. There are endless possibilities, and I agree with Az, we shouldn't really look into this that much.
Anyway, there is another possibility of Kenji's actions other than the one that bluesoul suggested (for those of you who are too lazy to read, or don't remember, he suggeested that Kenji could have thought that Elvis wasn't in the game, so counterclaimed.) It is possible that because of the whole "double role" thing we have going (which I still don't buy, btw) it is possible that two people could have the same name. Kenji could still be Elvis.
Humbug? Anyway, rock is dead. Long live paper and scissors.
On an interesting note, Avabob, that hypothesis may not be far off. At first glance, I thought Kenji's comment to be an "I don't believe you" post, but considering
Quote from Kenji post 839 »
he didn't know he was false claiming someone who was actually in the game
it could very well be a counter-claim. Hey, for all we know, there could be young Elvis and fat Elvis. I don't think everyone has a double, though--otherwise Wonko v.2.0 and Dirk Gently Jr. would have popped up by now. This leads to the question "If it is true there are two Elvi, why specifically Elvis as a character?"
Jobies death confirms two things; That there are characters outside of HHG in the game and that Holmes is a mason buddy (although not specifically town). Half a cat anyone? ;kitty:
Anyways, i'm going to report that Bluesoul did not use his ability last night. I'm not sure if this is good or bad, but hopefully that will become apparent at some later time.
You think I pushed a scum-buddy off a cliff? Okay chief, you can vote for whoever you want, but I'd like to hear a little more reasoning than that I was maybe trying to deflect blame off of Machin.
I'm still confused about how Kenji counterclaimed
well knowing that Machin Shin when dead, will be named.
It was an interesting move that worked quite well
does this mean that there are two Elvises in this hell?
Good morning, gang, glad to be a part of this game. For those of you who might have missed it- I have taken AlphaInsidious' spot.
Anyhow, I started on my analysis, stopped when the issue of whether or not I should be in here was debated, started again after I was cleared, stopped a bit at the thought of maybe being dead and really PO'd when the morning broke that I spent all that time re-working everything, and have started back again. Don't fret- I read along with the entire first day, just not in the capacity of a player so much as an observer. With that said, it's going to take me a little bit to get up to voting speed.
Things I can comment on though:
@Avabob: Kenji is in Egypt until 3/12, I believe. We'll be stalled an awfully long time if we dwell on that subject before progressing. As a "confirmed" townie - I don't want to press him too much on the subject at this point, anyhow. We netted a scum from it, and that's good enough for now.
My suspicion currently rests squarely on Draygn_Mage at this point, and I am comfortable with an FoS: DM. He spent the beginning part of the first day playing peacemaker and looking for others to do the work (post 75, I have written in the notes I've started), and at the end of the day calls for Kenji to be vigged if MS shows up as Elvis- not if he shows up scum. Since mafia likely know each other's roles, this could be a big slip up here.
I'll get back to analysing post-by-post and input more later.
@DYH- was that a freudian slip already?? Why would I want Kenji vigged if MS showed up scum? Kenji's post was clearly a counter claim, hence if MS came back Elvis then Kenji would be lying. The only oddball portion is that Kenji is currently being cleared by the mod.
Actually, if you look again, I didn't play peacemaker so much as I spent the better portion of yesterday trying to stop ideas that would hurt the town from coming to fruition. I'll do the same again today. I'll even keep "score" for you.
With that being said, I agree that waiting until Kenji comes back to do anything is a bad plan as our loving mod may get antsy in 6 days, so we should keep discussing yesterday's events. M_S's bandwagon would be a good point to start at I think.
I would say that someone needs to target Bluesoul tonight if he's still around if for no other reason than to get the fishbowl into someone else's hands so we can try to confirm him as the scum will probably never target him (provided he's townie). Hopefully the bowl will get passed anonymously so the scum won't know where it went, but even if it doesn't, then the mod will have at least confirmed its presence to us all which would semi-clear both bluesoul and twomz.

Score won't be necessary, thanks. I'm still leery of your early day passiveness switching to late day aggression. I'll check further upon my re-read.
So... morning. Obligatory post-format bandwagon and confusion about Kenji's "counterclaim"(?). Vote kingcobweb for the time being. M_S was dead no matter who pushed him. D_M's suspicion of you for attempting to deflect M_S's bandwagon was easily enough motive to finish an inevitable lynch on fellow scum.
Whew- finished re-read, and boy am I ready to vote!
Guess was on the Twomz wagon, the Holmes wagon, and the Bluesoul wagon?
Duh, Machin Shin was, of course, but his scum buddy, diggy, was too!
Not only that, in his vote for Bluesoul, which he claims was a coin-flip between BlueSoul and Machin Shin, he voted for - guess who - Bluesoul! (Kenji actually makes a nice point of reference to the lack of randomness used in-thread.)
Also, of interest: He spends most of the day lurking and nodding in agreement, then when his name gets brough up, he claims he can clear himself with a not-so-normal role, confuses its usage, and disappears!
Vote: diggy
@DM: I still find that you played peacekeeper most of the day, aside from a few minor outbursts, and really didn't contribute much input yourself, you spent more time shooting down ideas and asking generalized questions. I do feel as though the actions seemed more townish than harmful, however, so I'll UnFoS: draygn_mage. The bit about wanting to potentially vig Kenji based on role-name is still a little disconcerting, but understandable, since I think you thought it was a counter-claim.
I already find Diggy to be scummy so I can't really argue that, but I am happy that someone articulated it better than my gut feeling (that is, there's no one post in particular that's jumped out at me).
@DYH: Also, by those standards, I was on the bandwagons for all of them, and I unvoted on Machin Shin's at some point, until Kenji's confused counterclaim. Dunno whether this'll be seen as being town or not (probably not), but I figure I'd put it out there to save someone the trouble.
@TWS: Oh, I'm well aware that you were on those three wagons as well.
Machin Shin also FoS'ed you and Bluesoul in the same post along the line, which is a nice scum tactic - point a finger at the bandwagonee and a fellow scum. Since all the attention is focused on the bandwagonee (in this case bluesoul), not much attention gets drawn to the other suspect. Then, he could point back to it later (had you died, and not him) - "see, I found him suspicious, yadda yadda."
By no means do I think you're clear. Puzzle on your case doesn't bode well for your future, either.
Do I have to explain that one?
I think we'll let you go, this time.
Anything else to discuss before night-fall?

Since all the attention is focused on the bandwagonee (in this case bluesoul), not much attention gets drawn to the other suspect. Then, he could point back to it later (had you died, and not him) - "see, I found him suspicious, yadda yadda."
By no means do I think you're clear. Puzzle on your case doesn't bode well for your future, either.
