Thought I would put up an introduction so that others could know a bit more about myself and where I am coming from. I started playing Magic back in late 1997 when a friend of mine brought some cards to school and I was immediately drawn in by the art and different from any other game I had encountered played. I was very quickly down at my local card store and bought my first Magic product an Ice Age Starter Deck which I pulled a Jesters Cap from and thought it was such a bomb card. Never became really what you would call competitive at that younger age it was mostly I would play with friends after school and just played simple decks that I still actually have together. I continued with the game semi regular till the end of the Urza sets (I was still a bit younger and did not really understand just how powerful the cards were in those sets so never got large numbers of packs then lol). After that point I transitioned to my new interest playing the new Pokémon card game as many kids my age were in high school and lost touch with MTG.
In 2014 I found myself with some extra free time during the summer so I actually got back into playing Standard for a few months, it was the first time I had the disposable income that I could actually put together a competitive deck. This was when Journey into Nyx had just released and I stuck around till just after M15 had came out. At that point I was finding myself busier with work and other things like a family wedding to help plan.
Recently I have returned to the game and ideally would not like to drift away as I have in the past, I have been spending some time at FNM getting familiar with the rule changes since I last played and what the current meta is like. Over the last month and a half I have been enjoying playing Standard but found that I am interested by Modern and have been starting to look at more info about the format. Put together a GB Counters deck and also a version of Mardu Vehicles which does perform well just have some tweaking to do. Also with the release of MM17 I got myself a case and have so far had luck with value with one box left to open(always a gamble). Hope that I can learn from the forum here and can share some of what I have experienced as a player of the game who has been around it for the better part of 20 years on and off.
