So I have been away from MtG for roughly five years now, as far as I can remember, and I thought this was the right to jump back in with all of the new interesting mechanics and stuff going on.
I'm Kailil, or sometime known as LifeSword3, Armand in real life. I'm a 22 y-o french-american history student, my interests are ancient roman history, japanese history and Byzantine history. I have other hobbies such as PC gaming, old school japanese animation and historical reenactment (roman legion) but MtG is the one for wich I always have been obsessed with, like literally.
I started playing the game when I was in school, around 15 y-o, but I played competitive only much later. My first block was the Zendikar block and I quit the game when the innistrad block was rolling up. The main reason I quit was the price, I couldn't afford any staple or other pricey spoilers wich meant I couldn't buy competitive decks since I didn't have the budget for and that really was depressing me. I'm still frightened about price speculation and if it's still a problematic, at least for poor people like me lol, I guess I'll have to be really careful with my budget, wich means no "pimp my deck" attitude for now.
You could say I want to become a semi-pro in fact, I have other priorities but I really want to get better at the game in order to win, because that's all that matters to me, of course I'll always try to be as fair as possible but the end goal remains the same. I used to play modern quite a lot, the only problem was the omnipresence of some decks I wont name and how difficult it was to build a decent counter or a better deck at least in my opinion. I did play legacy but again, the price on some cards makes it impossible for me to play in it's full potential right now. Vintage well, it's nostalgic af but you know too well the story. I know I should play standard if I want to be competitive but it rarely grasp my attention, especially these days.
I did a couple of tournaments, nothing impressive but my best result was a 46/70 if I remember correctly, it was before the release of a new expansion (can't remember the name of these tournaments sry)
Overall, I still love the game, especially since it's very much like an encyclopaedia, wich is perfect for my memory and I always found that, while not perfect of course, the community was always cheerful and constructive at least.
Thank you for reading and I wish you best of luck !
Best regards,
Kailil.
