I didn't realize you were Illumian, or Tessa would have reacted differently. The picture you put in did look illumian, but you said 'without the runes' so I thought your character was a human. Are the runes always there, or did they just show up in the battle?
My apologies, but exactly how much can Neruva see in this one instant? She's a tad focused on the big scary thing at the moment. I'll just stick with my previous note of Tessa's glowing, and assume that between that and the Thing, I didn't notice your runes.

And you, too, are one of us, and yet you are not. In your words I hear anger, hatred. I see a darkness that is not cold and lifeless, but is alive and moving, like a living entity. I feel caged, trapped, a yearning for escape. --Death Gate Cycle Volume 3: Fire Sea
Sorry Amadi, but I think I'm going to have to drop out of this.
I've kind of lost interest in my character, and I'm in the process of making a new campaign as well. I just don't have enough free time to play in 2 games, DM 2 games, and be a WPL in the MTGRPG (especially since my first GM'd quest will be starting up soon).
Everything scares me... kitties scare me... squirrels scare me... corpses....corpses bring forth a pletora of confusing feeling which i prefer not to dwell on...:p
At least I get to kill you off and progress the fluff at the same time... Since no one posted they took the dagger, I just assume Id Ego has it.
As the blast fades, the creature seems to react faster than a lightning would strike from a clear sky. It swiftly glides through the air and through Vutha, who was hit by the worst blunt of the blast just seconds ago. A strong flash of purple light can be seen where the Dragonkin is located, followed by a ray of energy from Tessa flying right past it. As the light clears, you all see Vutha, staggering and gasping for breath as though he was dying. Only a moment later he collapses down to the deck, crushing parts of it but remaining on top of a few support-trunks. Only a little of the light remains floating around the shady creature floating in where Vutha used to stand, moving slightly slower than it used to.
As you see Vutha drained by the beast and fall down on the ground, you feel a sudden urge. Not to help him, no. The opposite, actually. To slaughter him, finish him off using the dagger you have. You want to relentelessly thwack him in the head with it until nothing but bloody pulp remains.
DC 25 Will Save or charge Vutha and commit Coup De Grace.

Tessa gasped in dismay at the incorporeal creature's attack on Vutha...but then Barek made his move, and she went from sorrow to fury in a second. This is a setup!
Power cracked around her hands, fueled by her rage. With a curse, she blasts the monster with as much energy as she can muster--but this time, her ray \lances through the beast...

As you deliver the killing blows to Vutha, you feel a strong sense of acceptance and safety. Sense of achievement and triumph that is very intoxicating it its' strength. You have +5 Morale bonus to attack/damage/Savingthrow/skill rolls for a duration unknown to you.
Vutha is swiftly trampled to a bloody pulp on the ground by Barek and his fierce pet lion. As the dragonkin draws his last breath, a visage - a spirit or a ghost is lifted from his body and is being slowly drawn kicking and screaming towards the creature that incapacicated him just before Barek's attack. You all see a strong aura surrounding Barek for a few seconds as this happens.

Tessa fires a fiery blast towards the floating creature, and while her aim is right on, she seems to miss with the ray. It must've gone right through without causing any damage.
Neruva's dance of death around the creature seems to have more effectiveness, although some of the blows fail to affect the creature any more than Tessa's ray did. Some of them bite into it, though, causing it to convulse in agony.
What has the best effect, however, is the Lion which charges the creature and jumps right on top of it, chrushing it down to the dock in a flurry of fierce swipes and slashes. Barek barely makes it in to deliver a final blow to the creature, right before Vutha's spirit is dragged to it.
What remains is a burning dock, and amidst it floating a shape vaguely resembling the dragonkin whose body lies nearby, mangled and shredded. It seems confused, bewildered even, as Nuele lights the sky with pretty fireworks.
Vutha's ghost looks at the team, as if asking for something, direction or hope. Something.

"Hmmmm.", Neruva says. "It seems that a couple of you haven't been entirely honest about who (or what) you are. I'm not entirely sure that I feel a sense of companionship with those who are already hiding things. Granted, I understand the cautiousness, however I am still irritated. Care to share what you really are, Nuele and Tessa?"

"Yes, well, you were a fool to believe they had no extraordniary powers." Barek replies cooly. "Now what to do about this little trinket?" he waves the dagger. "It seems it would be dangerous to hold such a thing when going up against these cultists." He continues. "It is what caused me to strike down that one over there," he states, nodding towards the ghost. "And I'm sorry my friend, but I do not have any direction for you, unless you offer yourself willingly."

"I'm exactly who I said I am," Tessa replied, a bite of irritation in her voice. Her little-girl demeanor has evaporated, though. "A scout, and a damn good one. I shoot rays, not arrows, but that doesn't change who I am. I just have a little..okay, a LOT...of magic to bolster my scouting. But that's all it does. My magic is my weapon and my armor; it isn't my mantle of godhood. Don't expect any wishes granted."

"Indeed?", Neruva states to Nuele and Tessa. "Well, forgive me for my ignorance in the matter of magic. Its not my favourite subject."
Neruva shrugs the matter off and shoulders Fury.
After a fleeting glance at Vutha's ghost, she looks back to the magic users.
"So what do you suppose we do about that....thing? I'm sure you've got more of an idea than I do. Whatever the decision, can we do something soon? I'm rather...uncomfortable in its presence."

During his glance at Vutha, he notices two things. Foremost that the ghost is constantly staring at the dagger, as if it was the only thing it could see, and that a lot of other people gathering around here with waterbuckets are also set back by the thing. There is a human officer of some sort waiting at a medium distance and being pushed towards the group. He is clearly afraid to open his mouth.

Barek sighs as he sees the official. "Of course, they have to send an official dumbass..." he mumbles under his breath. "Well, I have no idea what to do with the dagger, but I don't want it," he replies to his companions. "As for him," he gestures to the apparition, "I've seen stranger things. Maybe he'll just haunt the dagger for eternity. But, it's not my job to put his soul at rest."
