Seeing his predicament, Atram calls upon celestial powers to send him a furry creature to his aid. The badger launches itself at the goblin with a vengeance.
Since both Alacar and Yukora have given me permission to mod their characters along today, I'll do just that.
Goblins #10 and #6, the quickest of the bunch, again swing their morningstars at Atram, hoping to drive the mage into the wall of the building.

Excellent RPing, storyline choices, and lateral thinking will be rewarded. Not in the form of XP, but in the form of bonus items, extra gold, or extra training which will do one of the following: increase an ability score, grant an extra feat, or grant a bonus to a skill. And if you do something (that makes sense for your character) really impressive, maybe a Legacy Item or even a minor artifact.
These won't be common or given lightly, so don't go around fishing for bonuses because that will most likely ensure you don't recieve one.
Examples of things that would qualify your character for rewards:
-In [Flames of War], when Tharivol risked his life to dispel the epic storm spell above Dragondale.
-In [Godslayer War], had Caex and Apachai gone alone to face the Revenancer and recover the essence of death.
-In [Flames of War], when Tharivol again risked his life (not to mention eternal soul) and did some serious lateral thinking to save the party from the Reaper and the Dracolich.
-In [Godslayer War], had the party purified the Infernal's evil sword.
You might notice these actions are fairly grand in scale. There will be moments like this in this game that will give you a chance to earn similarly grand rewards. But there will also be smaller rewards for more tame moments.
Word of warning: Don't turn this into a contest of "Who can do the most epic thing for the best reward", or I'll unleash fire and brimstone and Haldrivar and Tiamat and Asmodeus and Orcus and Malsvir and Kaegro and Vicente and every other epic-level NPC I've ever designed on your asses.

Yeah, the precious five-foot-step ofc.
Can I take another to position myself just so to include a third target in my burst?
Were Atram to use Flaming Hands right now, he'd hit the house across the street and probably light it up.
If he tries to hit 3 at once, it's almost a guarantee he'll hit either an ally or a building.
