Emeryn seems to grow impatient. "Mayor Berylfist, each moment that we delay puts these lands at greater risk. How soon can we prepare to leave?"
Someone has been studying their relgion!
"Madame mayor, I'm afraid I'm going to have to agree. Unless there is anyone in town who can help us identify what all these means, we should really be off."
In truth it's time to talk of rolls
And numbers therein seen
And mummy lords and dwarven maids
And secrets there between:
You both know the tales of Khalid, a noble of Brassbarren who made used forbidden necromancy four hundred years ago to become an immortal mummy lord. He built a massive pyramid in the Tirim desert, and for three centuries he ruled the desert, launching a long war against both Brassbarren and the gnomes of the Januub mountains. About a hundred years ago, Khalid was slain by a group of heroes, and his pyramid destroyed. The only remnant of the pyramid is a single obelisk deep in the desert. The implication is that Diela and Muirgheal were the heroes of legend.
You recall a legend of a massive pyramid in the Tirim desert that was destroyed about a hundred years ago by a group of adventurers who defeated the mummy living therein. The implication is that Diela and Muirgheal were the heroes of legend.
You've read many stories of the necromancer Khalid. Four hundred years ago, he used dark and forbidden magics to defy the gods and make himself an immortal mummy. His armies of abominations such as werelions and mummies menaced the Tirim desert for three centuries before a group of heroes led by a dragonborn paladin of Arawan known as Sohrab the Slayer destroyed him and his pyramid. You recall that two of Sohrab's companions in the stories were dwarves: a sorcerer and a thief. You also know that Khalid was said to have amassed a fortune in gold and jewels plundered from Brassbarren and Januub. The implication, of course, is that Diela and Muirgheal are the legendary companions of Sohrab.
You vaugely recall seeing a scroll about a pyramid once. Or was it a ziggurat? You know, now that you think about it, it might have been a pagoda.
You have no idea what's going on. People keep talking and talking and NO ONE DOES ANYTHING!
Muirgheal nods. "We can have a cart with some barrels of cider ready to depart within the hour. We'll make a big show of sending you off with a shipment of our cider, hoping that whomever is behind this is watching and they take the bait."
If anyone has anything else they'd like to check out in town, now would be the time to do it. Otherwise, it's time to take this show on the road.
I finish drinking my mug of ale (I'm not sure how I got this mug) and decide to take a quick look around before the party leaves.
"Madame Mayor, would it be possible to make a couple sssstops before going on our way? I would like to visit the apothecary, and it may be worth investigating Harruq's Fine Ciders...for...reasonsssssss."
Well, it looks like today is going to be far more exciting than I thought this morning. Did they say something about a Pyramid? Maybe it was a Ziggurat? No, wait. What were those things called? Pagoda! I need more mead.
Reed slips off and spends some time in quiet contemplation before the party sets out.
I forgot that my character has a proficiency in History, so my roll should have been a +1 modifier instead of -1. Whoopsss. I also never filled in half of the secondary stuff, so I guess I should probably do that this weekend.
After enjoying the tasty drink offered here, I decide to see if I can convince the lovely mayor and her wife to let me take a small extra barrel of their cider for personal use.
So far, we have Paravrax stopping by the apothecary before you all head out of town with the decoy wagon. Does anyone else want to do some shopping or visit any other places in town? I'm going to Ikea (IKEA! JUST SOME OAK AND SOME PINE AND A HANDFULL OF NORSEMEN!) with my friends today (because I have a truck and they're buying furniture; also because MEATBALLS) then helping them assemble said furniture (or at least holding their baby while everyone else fails furniture assembly rolls), so you have 24 hours to submit any in-town actions.

Emeryn mulls over Diela's hint. "In my homeland, we know well the tales of Sohrab the Slayer." It takes her a moment to piece it together. "Then you...I see. Then Ull-Seagle is not without powerful defenders of its own." As the preparations for the caravan begin to come together, the warrior woman stops in at some of the shrines in town - those of Arawan, Meriele, Osrik, and, perhaps surprisingly to those who might see her there, Finian.* She spends a few moments in silent prayer at each of them, then retrieves her mount, a golden-brown yellow dun, matching the colors of the sandy plains of the west but standing out against the dark soil and evergreen cover of this area.
Assuming there are shrines of some kind to all of those gods here.
Also, I subtracted the 75 gold for a riding horse from my starting gold, since I would assume I came here on a horse of my own. Let me know if that is wrong.
I prepared Shield of Faith, Hunter's Mark, and Cure Wounds. http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheet.html#id=85420
Town actions are closed. Since most of these are one-on-one things, we'll handle them by PM.
In the meantime, Diela and Murigheal have managed to borrow a second wagon from one of the farmers, so you'll have two wagons (with two horses each) when you leave. Start figuring out marching order and who's driving.
Emeryn stops the glib-tongued cleric of Finian as he approaches the caravan. "Master Bristletongue, was it? It is as you say, the gods have been silenced here. The shrines accept no offerings, not even a candle's flame. Perhaps this dark power is greater than even I feared..." she looks down for a moment. "Also, your pants are unlaced."
After her conversation with the cleric, she brings out her yellow dun and begins taking charge.
"I shall ride at the head of the caravan. Master Strathalmere, you appear well acquainted with the wild lands. Perhaps you can range alongside us, and watch for hidden threats?
Masters Luan and Bristletongue, you have some knowledge of our enemy. Perhaps you can ride in the front of the first wagon, and Madam Opalhearth to ride in the back?
For the second cart, we would do well to have a strong warrior such as Master Korvat watching our back. So Masters Paravrax and Pinkletuff shall take the reins.
Are we agreed?"
Korvat nods in agreement. Finally, some action. He hops into the back of the rear wagon and draws an intricately-carved wooden longbow, notching an arrow and placing a quiver at his feet. Golden eyes sweep back and forth across the horizon, pausing momentarily on spots of movement, evoking images of a bird of prey circling a field, awaiting its next meal. A grim smile briefly crosses the barbarian's face.

Reed fixes his trousers and waves farewell to a lovely village girl.
"Let's not get ahead of ourselves, my lady. There is surely danger ahead, but it is weak for now. Were it not so, it would have no reason to hide as it does. That's good news for us, and I'm of the opinion that we should capitalize on this opportunity and fill it with holes."
Reed jumps up onto the lead wagon and takes the reins. His manner changes to look sullen. He's reversed his cloak so that only the drab brown side is showing, and you could almost see him as a common merchant hawking his wares rather than the sly cleric he was in the tavern.
"In any case, it's a fine plan. Luan and I will pretend to be merchants trying to take our goods directly to market. The rest of you are caravan guards we hired on in town. I would prefer to have the gnome near me as well, as Finian's blessings are... helpful for a creature of his skills. Oh, and one more thing."
Reed looks meaningfully around at the group.
"If we're ambushed, please try to leave one alive for interrogation. I can save us a lot of hassle if I have an opportunity to use my skills."
Reed looks around at everyone once more, and a sly grin reappears on his face.
"Of course, if things happen to go south, it'll be fun to improvise again. All these meticulously planned jobs get so boring after a while."
Iso - you're currently going by Luan, right? bLatch, as far as I can tell you never introduced yourself, so you're 'The Gnome'. I can give you advantage on Stealth for an hour, so I want you nearby and hidden in the wagon. I want to see the look on someone's face when you come jumping out from between some barrels of apples for a surprise attack.
Yes, I have not revealed my real name at this point.
The elf silently strode over to the first wagon and hopped into the front.
"Do remember that because I am an elf, that I only require 4 hours of 'Trance' as opposed to the full 8 hours of sleep you less elegant creatures need. We can use this to our advantage. I will begin our journey Tranced so that we may rotate who drives as necessary."

Yeah if bLatch gave us another name or no name, retcon my post. I just assumed he would have introduced himself during the introductions.
"While we can travel quickly, the horses will need to rest as well, so we'll have to pitch camp at nightfall. We will need to watch the camp, though, so perhaps it would be best for you to obtain rest now."
It's just a retcon kind of day. At some point I'll figure out exactly what name everyone is going by and update the OP in the spectator thread as appropriate.
Elder dragons my ass.
And speaking of names...that feeling when you can't remember how to spell NPC names YOU MADE UP.
As the mayor and her wife load the cider into the wagons, she offers you some advice. "The trip from Ull-Seagle to Rockfall takes around a month when you've got a wagon full of goods. We've tucked some provisions in the back, and a few of you look like you could find food in the wilderness if need be. We don't know exactly where the caravans have been disappearing; Rockfall has a raven rookery, but none of the settlements between here and Rockfall are big enough to warrant such, so we haven't had word from any of the stops along the way. There are stations for the express coaches every fifty miles or so, but they don't usually let merchant caravans stop. There are a few inns along the road, but for the most part you'll need to camp."
As you mount up to head out, Diela offers a final word: "Godspeed."
1 hex = 30 miles = 1 day of travel (by wagon or foot)
That's awesome, but where are we and where are we going? I assume we're in that big town in the NE corner and we're heading to the SW, but I want to confirm.

With little fanfare, you set out from the town of Ull-Seagle. You're travelling down the Silver Road, one of the main thoroughfares of the province of Silverwatch, towards Rockfall Camp, the settlement at the base of the Sliabh Mountains. You can travel approximately 30 miles a day before your horses become exhausted, which on the map above is one hex. At that rate, it will take about 28 days to reach Rockfall.
I assume you'll be camping a night and setting a watch.
Note: If anyone wants to do something during your downtime, either while you're on the road or at night, just say so. I'm rolling the entire first week of travel in one shot, but we can go back and retcon anything that you wanted.

The first day proceeds without incident. You pass a bucolic farm with fields of wheat that look like they could have come out of a fine tapestry. The weather is cooler than you expected; it's only just the beginning of autumn, but you can already feel winter's chill on the air. There's a light drizzle in the evening, but it only lasts for a short time. You take that as a sign to set up camp. In all, it's setting up to be a fine adventure.
The second day is much the same. The weather is warmer, and the rain seems to have gone away for the time being. You reach the first of the coach stations, but the guards glare at you and make it clear only coachmens' guild members are welcome here. Again, you set up camp by the roadside, and have a relaxing evening around the fire.
The third day, however, finally sees some action. A pack of four wild boars are rooting around at the edge of the edge of the road. They appear to be feeding on some carrion. One of them sees your group, and clearly views you as a threat.
