1. knobbodi - The Blood Moon Landing was faked! Mountain / Simian Spirit Guide / Leyline of Lifeforce / Magus of the Moon / Phyrexian Revoker I figured there was going to be a large number of players playing the nexus combo, but luckily, there was another land-based combo that magus beat. Unfortunately, my deck tended to lose or draw against the other 'anti' decks. Still, a relatively solid finish.
2. WhammWhamme - The other Nexus.dec Blinkmoth Nexus / Voltaic Key / Pact of Negation / Simian Spirit Guide / Grab the Reins I really like how you can turn 1 pact of negation when going first. That line of play won you some games, but you had no way of dealing with the minamo/oboro combo, and so you got a lot of matches where you won on the play and lost on the draw.
3. XScorpion - Inkmoth Zenith Mountain / Inkmoth Nexus / Voltaic Key / Mental Misstep / Red Sun's Zenith Red Sun's Zenith was pretty much the entire reason your deck did so well. There turned out to be a lot of phyrexian revokers and other small-ish creatures, and you just burned them all away. Mental Misstep was also a good choice this round.
5. Antonia - Mono-Blue Eldrazi Minamo, School at Water's Edge / Oboro, Palace in the Clouds / Emrakul, the Aeons Torn / Boomerang / Lore Broker Congratulations on your win! Lore Broker only really came in handy as a 1/1 win condition against the other minamo/oboro decks, but that still picked you up 3 matches. Also, boomerang was amazing in almost every match. Good thing you decided to switch your deck up!
6. Heart of Draco - 2 Card Blindmoth Blinkmoth Nexus / Voltaic Key / Mental Misstep / Snapback / Disrupting Shoal Snapback was nice against all the other nexi (I think that might be the plural of nexus, haha), and mental misstep was great this round. But just like everyone else, you ended up with a lot of draws and splits.
7. Error1 - infinite mana Oboro, Palace in the Clouds / Minamo, School at Water's Edge / Gemstone Caverns / Spell Pierce / Memnarch The fact that you couldn't spell pierce on your opponent's first turn and also use your combo meant that spell pierce was only really useful while you were going off. Combined with the fact that several other people went with oboro/minamo, you picked up a lot of matches worth only 2 points.
9. Thundersnow - Rock the dragon Pithing Needle / Kargan Dragonlord / Copperline Gorge / Copperline Gorge / Tin-Street Hooligan Pithing Needle plus a way to blow up artifacts and a huge creature was a reasonably effective strategy this week. When you lost, it was mainly due to anti-disruption spells run in the combo decks that got rid of your needle.
10. Feyd_Ruin - All in voidstone for $#!&s and giggles Mountain / Rite of Flame / Seething Song / Manamorphose / Voidstone Gargoyle Now that I've adjusted your score for how voidstone gargoyle actually works, nice job! You did not win, however, so the one internets does not quite belong to you. Pretty close, though, and a lot better than I expected it to!
Congratulations Antonia for winning Modern 5CB round 15 by a landslide! Since all the decks were fairly overpowered, I'm sure I messed up some matches, so everyone should probably doublecheck their rows. When we have cool weeks, you guys end up making a bunch of really creative decks, which is especially nice for me, since it makes my job more interesting. Also, I updated the rules spoiler so that it doesn't rely on already understanding how 5CB works.
After results are finalized, looks like PotM is starting out nicely, with a new person having a solid lead. Will Heart of Draco take back his title after being defeated for only one month? Tune in next time to find out, on Dragonball ... wait, no, that's not right... on Modern 5CB!
Next week is going to be upwelling week (Mana pools do not empty at the ends of phases or turns)! I always thought it was an interesting special format for vintage 5CB, so let's see what you guys come up with for modern! Decks are going to be due by sunday, November 20th.

Modern5CB rules:
Modern 5CB is a forum game with the following rules:
-A deck consists of 5 cards that you submit to the moderator (me). Your deck must include a way to win, plus the mana to cast whatever cards are included in your deck. All 5 cards start in your opening hand, and you do not lose the game for being unable to draw a card from your deck.
-Matches are calculated by the moderator, assuming perfect information and optimal play. Matches consist of 2 games, one on the play and one on the draw. Each win is worth 3 points, and each draw is worth 1 point. However, a match that results in a win on the play and a loss on the draw is only worth 2 points, even though it is recorded in the table as being worth 3.
-The cardpool is limited to cards that have been printed since 8th edition and mirrodin (counting both of those), i.e. anything printed in the new card frame (but also including timeshifted cards, and not including cards printed in duel decks or the from the vault series).
-No one may submit a deck that can force their opponent to move a card in their hand to a different zone before that player's first turn. That is, no turn 1 discard. Also, no one can submit a deck that can win on its first turn.
-The banned list is:
Ghost Quarter
Meddling Mage
Vampire Hexmage
Chancellor of the Annex
Laboratory Maniac
Blazing Shoal
If instant speed revoker naming Simian Spirit guide keeps him from making mana, then I win 6-0. If not, we draw 2-2. Cool deck, I was wondering if anyone else would just ignore the special rules. I checked the ruling on revoker, because it says "source" I can name Simian Spirit guide. It doesn't matter what zone he is in.
I think this deck is illegal? Can't it make infinite mana on turn 1? Blinkmoth, tap for 2, cast key, tap to untap both, go infinite? I try revoker on upkeep, he counters and wins turn 1. EDIT: he can't win on turn 1, but he can make infinite mana. Either way, my play is Leyline, caverns exiling revoker, revoker naming spirit guide on his first upkeep. If he uses pact, he loses next turn, because I play pithing needle naming blinkmoth nexus. If he doesn't use pact, he loses to revoker eventually because of pithing needle.
I feel pretty bad for invalidating this deck, because it's pretty sweet. I think it's fine that it can make infinite mana turn 1, the spirit of the rule was to prevent broken things and lockdowns turn 1, which he can't do.
Double EDIT: He needs to animate nexus to untap it with key, duh. It can't tap for mana on turn 1 if he animates it, due to summoning sickness. His deck is perfectly legal, and I'm an idiot.
I think I win this one. If i'm on the draw...
0. Leyline
1. Minamo
1. Gemstone caverns.
2. Oboro -> since clock isn't important, he might as well wait until turn 3 to combo, when he can net a mana by bouncing oboro. He plays lorebroker, and I flash in revoker naming broker.
2.
3. Now he goes for it. He taps oboro for UU, he uses minamo to untap both lands. In response, i flash in pithing needle naming minamo. His lands untap. He has U in his pool. He has two lines of play, bounce needle now (just to have me replay it, i still have 1 in my pool), or wait until postcombat main phase to bounce it. He has to wait, or he loses. On his second main phase he taps oboro for UU, returns it to his hand for U, replays it, and taps it for UU. He uses 2 to bounce pithing needle with boomerang, and combos out.
It doesn't matter when I play pithing needle, because he can always generate 3 mana with just oboro to bounce needle and combo out in the same turn. Guess I didn't have that one.
I can force the draw by playing pithing needle naming kargan. If he kills it with tin-street hooligan, I can use revokers to trade with both his guys. If he does not, I can flash in revoker to trade with kargan, then just wait. If he ever plays hooligan, it will trade with revoker. If I ever play revoker, he'll win. I just want to make sure the timing works out.
If i'm on the draw:
0. Leyline
1. Kargan
1. Pithing needle
2. Hooligan, land, level kargan 4! times -- I missed this. I guess he gets me if he goes first.
If I'm on the play:
0. Leyline
1. Pithing needle
1. Kargan
2. Pass
2. If he plays hooligan, i respond with revoker. He can't level up. We stall
I play revoker naming simian spirit guide. I play a second naming spirit guide. He can't win.
6-0
As far as I can tell, my grid should be:
6-6-0-6-0-6-6-X-1-0-6 | 37
but I always make mistakes in my favor. I think this time though you didn't catch the revoker-spirit guide interaction, and that will probably change a lot of matchups.
I was a little surprised to not see isochron scepter anywhere. I tried making a deck with it before going with revokers. Even just putting Twiddle on it is really strong.
Some facts of magic:
-Terror is an emotion which, when experienced, results in death.
-The pox was a disease notorious for having killed one-third, rounded up, of Europe’s population. Smallpox, on the other hand, killed only a single person.
-A person riding a horse cannot be stopped by foot soldiers, large animals, walls, archers, or even catapults.
1–knobbodi vs. 11–Dragondart vs.
Listed as 6-0. Should be 2-2
I can play Revoker to block one of your critters, and you can't stop me from casting Banefire on your other creature. I can't win after Banefire is gone, but I can force a permanent standoff.
EDIT: oh, geez. I guess not. It can't pump itself or tap for mana after it animates. It needs to animate to be untapped by the key. His deck is perfectly legal.

benbuzz, you're right, I just assumed revoker couldn't hit mana abilities. All of your corrections are right, including the edit about blinkmoth having summoning sickness.
Dragondart, I don't know how I missed that, in my head I had listed our match as a draw.
One more correction, for a while i had myself drawing with Feyd (10), but I think he just beats me. Actually, it looks like he beats a lot more decks than you have him marked for. Voidstone is a meddling mage too!

Simian Spirit Guide and Manaforge Cinder were cards I really wanted to include. They would have been good in your deck.
SSG gets stopped by Revoker and friends, while RoF gets Misstepped.
I figured there'd be more Revokers and less Missteps this week.
I was barely right. :/
Manaforge doesn't copy, per week rules, since it's a nonland mana ability.

Oh yeah...I made a deck before the rules change that had him.
The card I really wanted to use this week was Blood Celebrant, but that's not modern, and was before the rules change.
It's not infinite mana...just enough for an Emrakul and a Frozen Aether. Mental Misstep and Snapback as protection. Seemed good, but no dice.
Against #2,
On the play, I play Nexus -> Key. He can't pact it because he'll die if he does. On his turn he plays his own key, which I will misstep. If he pacts my misstep, I'll combokill him. If he doesn't pact the misstep, he has no key, and thus can't pay for a casted pact or kill me in response to the trigger, so I will combo kill him anyway.
I like how Error's deck is barely legal since he only gets infinite mana turn 1 on the draw.

An ability exists on the stack independently of its source. Removal of the source after that time won't affect the ability. Some abilities cause a source to do something rather than the ability. Any activated or triggered ability that references information about the source checks that information when the ability is put onto the stack. Otherwise, it will check that information when it resolves. If the source is no longer in the zone it's expected to be in, its last known information is used.

Mountain / Simian Spirit Guide / Leyline of Lifeforce / Magus of the Moon / Phyrexian Revoker

2. WhammWhamme - The other Nexus.dec
Blinkmoth Nexus / Voltaic Key / Pact of Negation / Simian Spirit Guide / Grab the Reins
I really like how you can turn 1 pact of negation when going first. That line of play won you some games, but you had no way of dealing with the minamo/oboro combo, and so you got a lot of matches where you won on the play and lost on the draw.

Red Sun's Zenith was pretty much the entire reason your deck did so well. There turned out to be a lot of phyrexian revokers and other small-ish creatures, and you just burned them all away. Mental Misstep was also a good choice this round.
4. Draco9 - Circus Freak Show
Minamo, School at Water's Edge / Oboro, Palace in the Clouds / Pithing Needle / Dovescape / Memnarch
Dovescape was neat, but the bottom line was you lost to pithing needle, and there ended up being a lot of that going around.
5. Antonia - Mono-Blue Eldrazi
Minamo, School at Water's Edge / Oboro, Palace in the Clouds / Emrakul, the Aeons Torn / Boomerang / Lore Broker
Congratulations on your win! Lore Broker only really came in handy as a 1/1 win condition against the other minamo/oboro decks, but that still picked you up 3 matches. Also, boomerang was amazing in almost every match. Good thing you decided to switch your deck up!
6. Heart of Draco - 2 Card Blindmoth
Blinkmoth Nexus / Voltaic Key / Mental Misstep / Snapback / Disrupting Shoal
Snapback was nice against all the other nexi (I think that might be the plural of nexus, haha), and mental misstep was great this round. But just like everyone else, you ended up with a lot of draws and splits.
7. Error1 - infinite mana
Oboro, Palace in the Clouds / Minamo, School at Water's Edge / Gemstone Caverns / Spell Pierce / Memnarch

8. benbuzz790 - Good Grief
Leyline of Anticipation / Gemstone Caverns / Phyrexian Revoker / Pithing Needle / Phyrexian Revoker
A million pithing needle effects, it turns out, is a pretty strong line of play. Not a whole lot to say beyond that. Solid finish!
9. Thundersnow - Rock the dragon
Pithing Needle / Kargan Dragonlord / Copperline Gorge / Copperline Gorge / Tin-Street Hooligan
Pithing Needle plus a way to blow up artifacts and a huge creature was a reasonably effective strategy this week. When you lost, it was mainly due to anti-disruption spells run in the combo decks that got rid of your needle.
10. Feyd_Ruin - All in voidstone for $#!&s and giggles

Now that I've adjusted your score for how voidstone gargoyle actually works, nice job! You did not win, however, so the one internets does not quite belong to you. Pretty close, though, and a lot better than I expected it to!
11. DragonDart - Bane
Oboro, Palace in the Clouds / Minamo, School at Water's Edge / Simian Spirit Guide / Banefire / Phyrexian Revoker
Having a castable creature if your combo fell through was a nice backup plan, and you could also banefire opposing creatures. Red Sun's Zenith would probably have been better, but the fact that banefire is uncounterable did win you a game against pact of negation.

Leyline of Anticipation / Gemstone Caverns / Phyrexian Revoker / Pithing Needle / Phyrexian Revoker
I almost just played 3 revokers, but I'm glad I remembered it didn't hit lands. Anyway...
1. knobbodi - The Blood Moon Landing was faked!

3. XScorpion - Inkmoth Zenith
Mountain / Inkmoth Nexus / Voltaic Key / Mental Misstep / Red Sun's Zenith
Zenith is good! I can stop the infinite mana but not him recurring zenith 20 times. Nice deck.
0-6
4. Draco9 - Circus Freak Show
Minamo, School at Water's Edge / Oboro, Palace in the Clouds / Pithing Needle / Dovescape / Memnarch
Turn zero pithing needle turns off his spells
6-0
5. Antonia - Mono-Blue Eldrazi
Minamo, School at Water's Edge / Oboro, Palace in the Clouds / Emrakul, the Aeons Torn / Boomerang / Lore Broker

It doesn't matter when I play pithing needle, because he can always generate 3 mana with just oboro to bounce needle and combo out in the same turn. Guess I didn't have that one.
0-6
6. Heart of Draco - 2 Card Blindmoth
Blinkmoth Nexus / Voltaic Key / Mental Misstep / Snapback / Disrupting Shoal
Whatever he does, at least 1 revoker will come into play before he can combo out. He can't animate nexus and block revoker without voltaic key.
6-0
7. Error1 - infinite mana
Oboro, Palace in the Clouds / Minamo, School at Water's Edge / Gemstone Caverns / Spell Pierce / Memnarch
Pithing needle turns off his spells.
6-0
8. benbuzz790 - Good Grief
Leyline of Anticipation / Gemstone Caverns / Phyrexian Revoker / Pithing Needle / Phyrexian Revoker
What an a**hole. Who would submit a deck that undermines the purpose of the special week? This guy is a jerk.
X
9. Thundersnow - Rock the dragon
Pithing Needle / Kargan Dragonlord / Copperline Gorge / Copperline Gorge / Tin-Street Hooligan

10. Feyd_Ruin - All in voidstone for $#!&s and giggles
Mountain / Rite of Flame / Seething Song / Manamorphose / Voidstone Gargoyle
I can't attack into gargoyle. He can't race double revoker. ... but he can name revoker so that I can only play one of them.
0-6
11. DragonDart - Bane
Oboro, Palace in the Clouds / Minamo, School at Water's Edge / Simian Spirit Guide / Banefire / Phyrexian Revoker
I play revoker naming simian spirit guide. I play a second naming spirit guide. He can't win.
6-0
As far as I can tell, my grid should be:
6-6-0-6-0-6-6-X-1-0-6 | 37

Lore Broker is some nice tech.
Been playing for what, a month? I see 2 blind wins if I'm not mistaken.
I'd like to take credit for suggesting Boomerang, anyway...
