As someone pointed out, look at who he is going against. Week 1, he beats Curtis Axel, who isnt top tier by any means, but still a solid wrestler. The important thing to note is that unlike other debuts, its not a "local" wrestler Neville was facing, but a main card guy. Next week, he wrestles the top guy in the company and actually has a back and forth match. Yes, he lost, but he put up a fight and showed that he can stand with the best. His next match was against Curtis Axel and gets a win. This past week, he has another competitive loss.
Essentially, Neville right now is shown as being able to handle mid-carders and be able to hang with the Upper-Mid card to the Main Eventers. Yes, he isnt winning, but right now it doesnt matter. He just debuted and right now is setting in stone some things, so that if he gets pushed later, we at least have a "Oh well, a couple months ago, he was hanging with Main Eventers in matches, so it makes sense he is in the title picture."
I absolutely agree. He isn't winning but his matches have been fantastic and showcased Neville's strong points (like the 360 splash from the barricade, for example). I am much happier with his debut this way rather than him put up against low card guys that no one cares about and winning in under five minutes.
I also liked Roman Reign's promo on Raw. People can say what they want but he is getting better all the time, and he looked a lot more comfortable than he did a few months ago, even with the crowd hammering him.
I agree with the discussion on Neville. They are doing it right with him right now. I would have loved to see him win against one of the main carders, but that probably won't come soon. Even then the only reason why I want to see him win is because of how rad the Red Arrow is. I hope he is the one who takes the Cena US challenge next week and is able to hit the red arrow on him before the obvious Rusev DQ attack.
I really have a feeling that when the current wave of NXT superstars gets called up, we might be heading towards a new glorious era of WWE. Good god the amount of amazing matches they could have with all that talent.
I think the first 3 matches were perfect, I really didn't see why he had to lose to Dolph in his hometown right before dolph gets squashed by Sheamus. I'd have rather him just interrupted the match cause a DQ and squashed both little guys. It just made Neville look not that great in front of his hometown crowd.
My eyes went O.O when that happened. They must have big plans and a future for Sami for them to allow that, given the response he got from Montreal (which was a bigger pop than Bret Hart got, which is also insane) I am not surprised.
They're starting to do some real good with NXT callups. My fear is that this will be a hit/miss type thing where they struck gold with The Shield and Wyatts, bombed hard with Bo (I still bolieve), Adam Rose, Emma, and The Ascension, now they're knocking it out of the park again with Neville and hopefully Sami.
I hope that doesn't mean bad things for guys like Breeze, Itami, Sasha Banks (who am I kidding), Enzo/Cass, Vaudevillians, etc.
I know that they couldn't possibly screw up Balor and Owens because those guys just have it.
Macho Mandow was so much more than I could have ever expected.
Also I'm incredibly impressed with the way they've been booking Cena in these challenges. Neville kicking out of an AA as well? It appears that Cena's finisher is transitioning to the 2nd rope stunner into an AA since they're letting everyone kick out of just an AA. Also to let Neville hit the Red Arrow? Keep this run for Neville going please!
Elimination Chamber at the end of the month should be interesting. A Tag Team Chamber match seems super cool, but I can't really think of 6 teams to have in the chamber unless they do 3 and split them individually in the chambers. I mean the Tag division right now is basically Kidd/Cesaro, New Day, Ascension, possibly tribute Megapowers, Los Matadores, and Lucha Dragons? I guess that's enough to do a 6 team chamber match.
This whole authority dissension angle is really dragging the whole show down. I'm so over Randy Orton and Kane that I just tune out when they're doing things. I did notice that the Kane/Reigns match was a particularly more ferocious Kane than normal, which is a plus.
I never thought I'd say this but the Cena US Open Challenge is my favorite segment of RAW. The matches are consistently awesome and even though Cena wins, it truly is elevating the US Title. I am super excited about the upcoming Kevin Owens vs John Cena match at Elimination Chamber and that promo between the two was great.
I feel like the whole Lana/Ziggler thing that just kind of appeared was way too soon and really forced.
Putting a Bo/Neville feud together on the main roster is a great way to finally start using Bo. I hope they start to do something with him.
NXT TakeOver was fantastic last night. Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks really stole the show, in my opinion. We all know how fantastic Sasha is gonna be, but man, Becky is amazing. She looks a little too silly with the orange hair at the moment, but I swear, that girl really has a bright future. She's fantastic at wrestling.
It was cool seeing Samoa Joe in a WWE ring. I wish AJ Styles took the same path! But it's alright; he's doing his thing in Japan.
Becky Lynch looked like Kim Possible. That match was really good(but the "sasha's pregnant" chants wee rude). What happened to hideo? Was there a real life injury involved? Are they moving Owens up already? Is zayn going too? I felt the main event could of been better and longer and the Corbin match could of been shorter.
Edit: after looking at the timings, it was only 63 minutes of wrestling, they probably could of added time in a couple places or had another match.
Hideo had a shoulder injury I think. I think they might be moving Zayn up soon, but I wonder about Owens. I do agree that the main event should have been longer. It was kind of a letdown after the amazing Sasha/Becky match.
Corbin match for sure should have been shorter or had more actual wrestling in it. I get that it's two brawlers, but there was still almost nothing that he did in the match.
I actually thought Becky Lynch was going for a Chandra Nalaar look.
I think this is the best time to move Zayn up because you just turn him into Daniel Bryan but with Ska and bouncing souls instead of hippie dipie stuff, beard ,and yes chants. Owens is weird because he's super intimidating when wrestling the smaller NXT wrestlers but honestly looks like just a fat guy when he's in the same ring as Cena and Cena isn't even that tall, he's just a brick *****house. I can't imagine him putting on a convincing Monster heel bit against say a Reigns or Orton.
Prepare yourself to be convinced then. He's going to be a lot like punk was, completely under-rated for his looks and style, but when the mic is in his hands and the bell has rung, he'll earn the respect he deserves.
Solid PPV but I'm so gutted that Cena won over Owens in the way that he did. That was a great match, but then to end it in such a manner is just terrible.
Im so unbelievably disappoint that the curb stomp was banned.
I totally know the feeling as I miss the curb stomp as well but I understand why it was banned. It is much too dangerous. All it would take is for there to bee too much pressure applied or for it to be not pulled enough and it would force the opponents nose up into his skull killing him and the last thing anyone needs is another death at a live wrestling event.
That being said I was stoked to see a new match type unveiled recently in the Asylum Match. It was great to see creative come up with something surprising and new and it was a great match. What do ya'll think of the Asylum Match?

I used to love the candy Nerds, but I stopped eating them when I realized that for me, it was basically cannibalism. -- Rob O'Reilly
its getting pretty close to the brand split. is there any stars that we think will benefit from the brand split and having more time for brand specific stars?

Agreed!
Me too. I've always liked bad guys that try their best to be (or act like) good guys but come off like jerks (Bob Backlund, Kurt Angle, etc..)
My eyes went O.O when that happened. They must have big plans and a future for Sami for them to allow that, given the response he got from Montreal (which was a bigger pop than Bret Hart got, which is also insane) I am not surprised.

I didn't actually think they would do that...
I am excite!
Please let him do a top rope elbow of disdain for the finisher.

What a crazy world.
Any match with Tamina is just bad. That girl is sloppy.
Lesnar squashed Kofi as expected.
Owens vs Balor was fantastic, and I'm glad Balor got the strap. He's amazing.
