I knew sooner or later they'll post it online. However, I was reading some article, there's a leak of the trailer and BBC managed to counteract and release the extended version. Not sure if that really happens.
Speaking of BBC, does BBCA will show the "Day of the Doctor" episode?

Space channel in Canada is advertising that they're showing it on the 23rd as well, and commercial free? Not sure how that works but I plan to support them for it. I'll be watching it (and/or pvr'ing it) on Space this time instead of downloading the torrent like I often do.
edit: Ah, I see they're doing a "worldwide simulcast". Which I guess means that since BBC has no commercials they also have to air it commercial free. It also means no timezone delay so it will actually air starting at 2:50pm Eastern in the afternoon here.
The real sad thing is that if not for 9 being pissed at RTD and not coming back for the anniversy special we'd have seen Eccleston at the end of the last episode and it would have had him slightly retconned into not being "The Doctor" for part of his regeneration
Yeah, I think this threw a wrench into things; I'm sure the movie will explain everything. I'm anticipating the new Doctor, but I'm even more interested in seeing 10 + 11 in the same place. Looking forward to some wibbly-wobbly shenanigans.
I don't think it could be *that* severe, but it potentially be something about him intentionally helping the master do something... bad... in exchange for the masters help in ending the time war (yes, we don't know that the master helped with that, as far as I'm aware we don't know that he didn't either).
If I'm not mistaken, wasn't the Master in hiding during the Time War?
From memory, I believe the Doctor had something to do with starting the Time War.
In the old series, he was sent by the Time Lords to try and stop the creation of the Daleks. Then again a few more times to stop their progress and exterminate them. This may have well started the Time War, but I can't remember if it was ever mentioned in any series.
That would be something and wouldn't surprise me in the slightest.
Yes, they grew up on Gallifrey together and took the Time Vortex training together (as mentioned in The Sound of Drums). The Master went mad at that time, gradually getting worse.
I'm hoping for a female Doctor at one point (hopes for Helen Mirren). It's possible to change gender and even race during regeneration.
I don't think Whovians can handle a female Doctor. I think it would alienate a lot of the audience who is used to seeing a male Doctor.
I also loved it, though I missed the first ~15 minutes because I slept in (screen time was 6:15 am in Australia). I'll just have to watch the repeat later tonight.
It was nice seeing some of the old Doctors again, and I've long been a fan of John Hurt.
It was a very good episode. Best of the current series.
But as a 50th Anniversary episode? It was lacking.
On top of that, I think it would have been a much more powerful episode and the narrative better in general if there wasn't the deus-ex-asspull ending.
Sometimes, there really SHOULD be no way. Yes, I enjoy when there's episodes where the Doctor gets to be a super clever boy and overcome impossible odds.
But to just be able to go in and "Oh, I fixed it and made it all better" and turn Galifrey into the Doctor's own personal Bottled City of Kandor is so much less fulfilling than if they just cut the entire end scene right off and made Clara keep her damn mouth shut.
If all three Doctors had to make the hard choice and made it about character, growth and acceptance rather than "Oh gee whiz I just get to save the good guys and kill the bad guys and everything works great with no lasting cost to anyone"... it's kind of crap.
But who knows. Maybe this sets up 12 to have lots of plot room to work in.

Goes to the weakness Moffat has as a storyteller.
I just wish that 9 would have agreed to do the special and they didn't have to create John Hurts doctor. The idea that the doctor really didn't have a way out and that he had to deal with failure was powerful.

The reason I don't mind it here is because in a sense, we already got to see that. We've already had eight years of the Doctor being a tortured soul for what he did in the time war, he's been living with the consequences and the regret this entire time. We got to see the lasting cost it had on his character and the universe in every episode of the show since it came back from it's hiatus. What happened in the Time War will always be an integral part of Ecclestein, Tennant, and Smith's Doctors. And in the special itself they followed through right to the edge, the Doctor confronting and finally forgiving his past self, to all three of them with hands on the button ready to pull the trigger.
I'm not disappointed that they've decided to give the Doctor hope again. We've had lots of time to examine what the tortured Doctor is like, so I'm ok if they want to close the book on that chapter of his history and explore something else.

I enjoyed the Christmas special. Like usual, the show pretty much just points and laughs at plot holes, but I've come to expect that and enjoy the show in spite of it.
I thought the episode was fantastic. Very well done, very well put together, wrapping things up rather nicely all in all.
I was actually holding it together fairly well at the end, when you saw him as a very old man, knowing he was about to die, and didn't have a plan, with clara then asking the timelords to help him, to seeing the crack closed, and then it opening up in the sky above and seeing the regeneration energy go into him before the crack closed again. Him blowing up the dalek base-ship appropriately epically, and then once the dust settled her going back into the tardis, seeing the fish fingers and custard in a bowl, his old clothes on the ground, I was certain he would be the new doctor already, but then there he was. He gets his final speech, which I thought was great, and then you see young Amelia pond with all her pictures plastered everywhere. It wasn't until I saw the hand on the rail as someone was walking down the steps that I knew something was about to happen, and then, there she was, it was so unexpected to see her there, I seriously lost it at that point, just those last three words, and then she was gone. So perfectly handled, and a great overall sendoff. And in usual doctor who style, right after the epic sad of him regenerating, we have something funny approximate quote: "do you know how to fly this thing?" I busted up laughing at that :p. Looking forward to seeing how the new season will be, as with David Tennant before him, its going to be a tough act to follow Matt Smith.
So is Capaldi going to last 1 series/season or still a rumor?
I hope not. With seasons being so short already, I'd hate to see any iteration of the Doctor last only a single season. Like with Eccleston, you feel like you're just getting used to him and suddenly it's over.
This transition should be interesting because while we saw Rose have to adjust to a new Doctor in season 2, this transition should be quite different. Matt Smith's Doctor had a very playful, flirtatious relationship with Clara, I don't see quite that same kind of thing continuing when the Doctor is suddenly now old enough to be her father.
Just read that Madame Vastra, Jenny, and Strax will be returning next season as well which is good news!

According to wiki... yes. But, more importantly, it will be shown in select theaters owned by AMC, Century Theatres, Cinemark and Regal
I had tossed this theory around, myself. It wouldn't surprise me to know that he started it, which is why he felt obligated to end it.
Of course, the Daleks are the Daleks, so one can't really discount their antagonism, either.

I'm not a fan, either. She's overbearing and obnoxious, and tries too hard to be mysterious. Good thing she's dead now.
I won't be satisfied with a Doctor Who ending until we see The Valeyard again.
