I don't really care for how they've toned down the Woodbury thing. Having volunteers fight with zombies around the outside makes it seem like less of a crazy thing than what they did in the comic, though I don't think they could have really pulled off having the entire town be so in control by the Governor like the comics did and have it be believable.
Yeah the zombie that ate Lori's corpse was wierd, I must have missed something because I don't remember seeing any leftovers. Where did her bones go? Maybe they were in the shadows and I missed it.

Did anyone notice that bullet Carl fired had no blood on it? Either that zombie was there to make us think Lori had been eaten, but it could very well be the Lori is a zombie or amazingly still alive. The blood trail showed that she tried to get somewhere. Where that some where is though will be unknown. I fear the worst thought (Lori still being alive. I would much prefer a zombie Lori)
I don't like how the writers have the group believing that Carol is dead. There was nothing sigificant to show that Carol has died. Losing a single shred of clothing doesn't mean anything in this show. Merril (spelling?) is a prime example of this, but I digress since the group wouldn't know about Merril at this point.
Wasn't that Lori that called him? Wasn't she talking about Amy and T-Dogg being there with her?
Rick has snapped under the stress. The phone calls are his coping mechanism. There is a very good reason why they are showing so many parallels between the Governor and Rick. Rick comes through it okay and becomes a better leader, while the Governor is sick and sadistic.

Oh good, that makes a lot more sense. I thought the show was starting to head off in some weird direction there.

Yeah, in the comic both the snapping and coping with the phone, and the eventual symbolic giving up of the phone, are major turning points for the character.
Thank god, no, there is no Purgatory in the story.
The only purgatory I want on TV is the one on Supernatural.
totally pissed they didnt go full on rape in last nights episode. I had anticipated the Michonne/Maggie switch in the story line, but damn....
I'm not. I think the threat of it was more than enough, that scene was intense.
The show has already deviated from the comics and I feel that some of the content (Lori's true death, Carol's quest to be the meat in a Grimes sandwich, Michonne and the Governor) isn't going to translate well for various reasons and I'm glad the series isn't beholden to them.

I dont disagree to some extent. In fact, I enjoy the show version to that of the comic. However, I thought this scene was very important in showing how messed up the Governor truly is and imo it was far too powerful to disregard
Thus far, I am relatively happy with season 3. I cannot believe I'm watching it in light of the introduction of Michonne at season 2's end, but even so. By the end of season 3 in Spring, I just hope that Lori, the blonde, Michonne, Glen, and his girlfriend are all dead. It's so unlikely, especially with Michonne—whom I want to see die most—but I sincerely hope they die.

I think the brutal rape scene in the comics is, like many similar shocking moments, overkill. The same effect can be achieved with more subtlety, which is how it played out on the show. With the show, we still understand the danger the Governor poses without extreme displays of villainy. In fact, I think such extremes would only serve to distract from the character work and performances (and both David Morrissey and Lauren Cohan have been killing it all season with that particular scene being big for both) since audience focus becomes centered on the extreme event and less upon the players involved. You can get away with those extremes in comics, but I think they're a liability when you're dealing with television.

Michonne, Glenn and Maggie?!? Why on earth would you want them dead? Apart from Rick and Daryl, those three are the strongest characters this season. I didn't even know they had detractors.
I wouldn't hold your breath, those four characters (the five I mentioned minus Maggie) are probably the safest of the core cast. Well, as safe as characters ever are on this show. Rick and Michonne are integral characters to the storylines this year while Daryl and Glenn are simply insanely popular to the point where I think the producers are reluctant to kill them off (which isn't to say they won't, just that they'd be brave and perhaps foolish to do so).
Okay, when did Glenn become the most badass, manly, alpha guy ever? I've always enjoyed the character, but...just wow. That scene was intense.
Overall this season I've been kind of disappointed with Michonne. She isn't quite as badass as I was hoping, although I believe my glimpse into the comic led me to believe that she'd be more superhuman than anything. She's relatable to a degree. By the way, how long is the midseason break supposed to last?
I definitely agree. My wife and I actually have the sentiment that if they kill off Glen and Maggie, we'll probably stop watching.
They are getting to the point where the core 4 as you were saying (Rick, Glen, Michonne & Daryl) all bring some sort of demographic to the table when it comes to attracting people to the show.
We love to see Rick evolving into a responsible leader with every trial he faces. Plus, main character status pretty much guarantees that he's in it for the long haul. Even if the producers say that nobody is safe from the chopping block, I think it's obvious Rick isn't going anywhere.
We love to see Glen evolving into more of a hardened survivalist with each ****ed up situation he survives. We enjoy seeing him in perilous danger, so long as he overcomes. Glen I think is the most enjoyable, human character on the show.
We love to see Daryl more and more becoming Rick's unofficial second in command, being arguably the best zombie hunter and also an original creation of the TV producers will probably give him a big edge to staying alive.
We also love to see Michonne in just about everything she does, because she is like a human puzzle. Every action she takes you try to figure out what is going on in her mind, how she got to the conclusions she has, and what she is going to do next.
It pained us to see Dale & T-Dog's deaths. But they weren't necessarily integral characters that needed to be involved for long. it was obvious that Dale was not prepared to do what needed to be done to survive, to adopt that mind shift to where they would have to start killing other humans who tried to take their camp.
T-Dog was an unfortunate loss as he was a good hand, but he never really was given much development as a character after he recovered from his state of delirium after his severe arm wound on the highway. And I hate to say it but it's mostly true, he's been replaced as the token black guy by Oscar.
I can probably see reasons why they would kill off most current cast members right now. But now that we've had 2 and a half seasons to get to know these guys, I can say that any true main character death such as Glen or Daryl at this point is going to be met with a lot of anger and sadness.
Okay, when did Glenn become the most badass, manly, alpha guy ever? I've always enjoyed the character, but...just wow. That scene was intense.
He's been coming along slowly but surely for a while now, and I think his relationship with Maggie has expedited that. They make quite a good team and she brings out the strength in him.

The strong, silent, distrustful type doesn't always make a big splash. But I think she's undeniably a badass. Her onscreen walker kill tally is up there with characters who've had seasons to fight and she's done that as a one-woman army in seven episodes.
Again, this may be another case of the comics being extreme and slightly over the top while the show is a fair bit more grounded.
By the way, how long is the midseason break supposed to last?
I don't think an official return date has been set, but February seems to be everyone's best guess.

Glenn I do not mind; I was just being...oh, I don't know. He's okay. Maggie to me never felt like an improtant character to the show, instead just some distraction or impediment to the group—namely to Glenn.
Michonne is a good fit for a pal to the blonde; she's reprehensible. Many stereotypical characters get to me, and a woman who is distrustful (probably) to her own detriment has gotten old for me fast. I do not see how any woman could find Michonne to be a relatable character. She's obnoxious and secretive to the point that if I were any character in the show, I'd have killed her by now. The acerbic woman who puts up wall after wall after wall is a character that never fails to bore me.

I agree it was Done well and even better on the show. You got everything you needed from that scene in a very hitchcockian "less-is-more" style. The scene on the show made me truly uncomfortable, whereas the scene in the comics was just more ultra violence, IMO. Making people think about something is often much more powerful than outright showing them in cinema.
Because conservative bias is a far, far worse thing. Liberal bias doesn't, statistically speaking, make people stupid. Conservative bias (or at least Fox's version of it) does.
This season is fantastic. SO MUCH BETTER than the second season.
This season is even leagues better than the first. Let's face it, this show was always pretty mediocre with some really amazing scenes sprinkled through and a lot of potential to be an awesome show. I used to watch only out of habit and had more complaints about it than things I could say I liked. This season has been a complete 180. The pace is far better, the characters have all improved (which had the perfect consequence of making the downtime between action sequences actually worth watching and making me actually care about the characters' survival) and a lot of the actors really stepped up their game.

Agreed. I was terrified for Maggie and I hated the Governor for it. I didn't need more.

Does this mean that at the end of the show's run we're going to find out that everyone has really been in Purgatory the whole time?

Its still television, so no. Even if they did it, it would be shadows and sounds.
