Man, I just don't know if the euro teams are going to do that well in South America, conditioning is as good as it's ever been, sure, but I just don't know if they all have what it takes.
Anybody playing in Manaus, Fortaleza, or Recife are the only ones who are going to have issues. It's not "South American" climate in general. Any other sites in Brazil will have a dry comfortable climate. The three places I mentioned will be the most humid, tropical locations. Unfortunately my USA team will be in Manaus one match. It's doesn't matter where the team originates from that kind of climate will drain all equally and it will come down to overall conditioning.
Also in a side note, my rankings that got so much negative attention earlier in this thread will be changed starting July. Thanks to everyone's input (which I appreciate whole-heartedly) I will value matches 1-4 years ago twice as much as matches 5-8 years ago and 4 times as much as 8-12 years ago. I still want my 12 year capture of games. However I agree with many points on placing importance on recent matches and love when others give me their opinion so I can improve my hobby.
Definitely hope so. Qatar being awarded the World Cup was so completely and obviously corrupt it was just a joke. The whole ordeal is so utterly disgraceful that I don't understand how the FIFA tops still hold on to their positions, but that's just what it looks like to an outsider I guess
Anyway, I hope Australia or the US gets the cup in '22.

Isn't it because they've always been incredibly corrupt? Why should it suddenly matter now? I thought it was just universally accepted that huge worldwide sporting organizations like the Olympics and FIFA are rotten to the core.
It should matter because they have elected to put the FIFA World Cup in a dictatorship with no footballing tradition, slave workers and untenable heat during the summer when the cup was supposed to take place. I'm not sure how much people care when the job gets done and things make some amount of sense (even if we accept your claim), but in this case, nothing made sense, and FIFA became the laughingstock of the world.
So Falcao is out of the Cup, we're not sure if Ronaldo is going to be fully fit, but he's at least in the squad, Marco Reus is out for the cup, shame to be missing such top class talent.
Extremely excited for tomorrow. I'm not much of a football fan anymore usually (I used to watch and play it very seriously), but during the world cup I absolutely am. Tomorrow's workday will be long indeed!
So excited for tomorrow! International Football is a passion for me and this is the ultimate commencement of the 4 years of following continental finals, qualifiers, and even friendlies. Even getting to take June 20-29 off from work and dedicate it to every game during that span.
Round of 16:
Brazil wins against Netherlands
Uruguay wins against Colombia
France wins against Iran
Germany wins against Russia
Spain wins against Croatia
Italy wins against Ivory Coast
Argentina wins against Switzerland
Belgium wins against Portugal
Round of 8:
Uruguay wins against Brazil
Germany wins against France
Spain wins against Italy
Argentina wins against Belgium
Semi-Finals:
Uruguay wins against Germany
Argentina wins against Spain
Third-Place Match:
Spain wins against Germany
Final:
Uruguay wins against Argentina

I rolled 5 D6's and got 3 fours. They must have changed the odds of getting a 4!
ref bottled it vs croatia there, not a penalty in the slightest, then Neymar lucky it goes in.
Completely agreed. What a nonsense. Croatia definitely should have won. The penalty was uncalled for, and later a chance to equalize was hindered by the referee. It's an farce. All because the referee doesn't have to justify his decisions, nor any videofootage will be used instantly to check what really happened.

Tay, that's not evolution. It's metamorphosis. Evolution means descent with heritable modification – individuals cannot evolve, unless they're Pokemon.

Croatia totally out played Brazil. Too bad the ref had to give Brazil the jolt of life they needed. Neymar (under-kicked) and Oscar (toe-poke) goals should or could have been saved. 2:1 Croatia would have been an earned result, at least 1:1 really. Brazil plays like that and they won't have to wait for Uruguay to destroy their dreams on Brazilian soil again; they'll be out long before that.
I don't disagree that the referee's decisions favored Brazil on many occasions yesterday night, but I do disagree that Croatia was overall better and deserved the win. I thought Croatia was better for the first 10 minutes or so (and though their 1-0 goal was rather random, it was fully deserved), then for the remainder of the first half Brazil was the better team, and after half time they were pretty much even. I think 1-1 or 2-1 for Brazil would have been fair as far as playing went. That said, Brazil did not strike me as a potential world cup winning team. Oscar was a player who impressed me, though, more than Neymar did. I did not agree with awarding Neymar Man of the Match, but eh.
Overall though, I thought the match was a lot of fun, particularly the first half, exciting and overall well played. Very much looking forward to the last 63 matches.
Refusing to use instant video footage for decisions is one of the silliest things about football, for me.
Mexico x Cameroon is empathizing this, for me.
Yes. That was painful. There was no good reason at all to disallow that goal. I'm beginning to think that giving teams the ability to appeal a ref decision 2-3 times per match could be a good idea, but I'm not sure how to implement this.
I'm a strong supporter of Mexico today - not only are they the better team, they should be up 1-0 at this point.

They could implement it by stopping the timer until the decision is made. For instance, a situation occurs but the game goes on. A goal is the final (direct) result. At that time the team with doubts could file for a reviewing. The time will stopped. After the decision is made, the ref should decide the final call via a microphone. Goal either counts or doesnt. And the game will go on.

I'm happy for Netherlands. That's a team that really deserves to win a World Cup someday - they get so close so often.
Looks like they'll be strong contenders yet again this year.

14 minutes into the match it looked like Chile was as advertised. A team full of fire-power ready to destroy the Socceroos with it. However, credit to the Aussies they battled all 90 minutes and proved they belonged on the world stage albeit a notch or two below Chile in class. The Spain-Chile match really decides everything can't wait for it.
Maybe we witnessed the official end of Spain's 2008-2014 reign atop the world today? I don't know I'm interested to see how they respond, since this core group has never really been in the position before.
I'm really curious to see how Group D will turn out.
Hoping for a goal-heavy win of Uruguay over Costa Rica, but I don't know what to expect between Italy and England.

Not only that, but added the very inexperienced Yedlin and Julian Green.
Bold moves from Jurgen.
Here's some good analysis: http://worldsoccertalk.com/2014/05/22/how-jurgen-klinsmanns-world-cup-squad-decisions-mirror-germany-2006/
FIFA may take the 2022 WC away from Qatar.
Anyway, I hope Australia or the US gets the cup in '22.
