I'm interested to see Ottawa without Alffie and with Bobby Ryan now.
AS for my Habs, still waiting for them to pick up some size
Didn't they draft a small building in Mike McCarron? I feel like Montreal would benefit by having someone like Brenden Morrow on the team...who is still a UFA.
Not just saying this because I'm a complete homer, but I feel like Dallas got a lot better. Eriksson was awesome, but having a real Center in Seguin allows Benn to move back to wing (Benn is just not a center, and his terrible faceoff percentage was obvious to everyone except our former coach). Which is huge: plus some of our rookies who showed promise, like Alex Chiasson (6 goals in the only 7 games of his career is an anomaly but his play was good too), the Chara-sized Jamie Oleksiak, and of course...our steal in the draft Valeri Nichushkin (who is NHL ready).
I feel like Philly got better with Vinny and Emery. Nashville now has Jones to add to an already elite defense core...which is insane when you think about it (their offense would have to suck just to be good, but damn that blue line is packed). I like St. Louis' addition of Derek Roy.
Toronto is the only team that took ten steps back by buying out their best center.

Montreal needs a few tough guys in their lineup....their series vs Ottawa just proved that.
As a Habs fan, I love seeing every bad move the Leafs make
edit- Lars Eller is feeling better now and will be able to play right away next season. He should help us a lot
I watched my Devils vs Canucks this week, and I must say that I have never seen such a slow bunch of senior citizens in Devils jerseys before. I suspect it will be a long season, unless Zajak and Henrique finally decide to pull there head out of their rear ends.

Devils aren't looking too good so far, surprised the Rangers and Capitals are doing terrible too.
Loved seeing the Sharks pull off a 9-2 win though
- San Jose is a force, although their new unis are terrible compared to last years. Is this their year?
- Ottawa's goaltending saviour is turning into the pumpkin I always new him to be.
- Usual suspects in the lead right now, Boston, Pitt, Chicago, LA.
- The West is completely better than the East, and it's not close
- WTH is with all of these long road trips for Eastern teams to start the year? NJ, NYR, others are totally being screwed by schedule makers, although both teams are lousy any way. I suspect something to do with the Olympics is the cause of this, yet another reason I don't like NHL players taking part in it.
- Colorado > wow, who would have predicted it? Seth Jones may be the second coming of Chris Pronger, but when your team is in first place who cares?
Both Bertuzzi and Eaves got deals that were 1 year longer than they should have been. Should have found a cheaper alternative to Quincey as well. Detroit's forward lineup should have looked something like this:
Thats 4 ridiculously talented lines with players that could be shuffled anywhere in the lineup. Great job Ken Holland. This is why the Red Wings suck out loud.
Bad deals happen to every GM at some point. Detroit and New Jersey both made out like bandits with trades/drafting for years and now they are both making mistakes with FAs and drafts. I mean, getting Zetterberg and Datsuk where they did in the draft has to be 2 of the biggest hockey thefts of the century, so Holland has had his magic in the past.

Detroit has one of the best prospect pools in the league. But just because Holland has been good in the past, doesnt mean he deserves a pass. Besides, Hakan Andersson is responsible for Datsyuk and Zetterberg, not Holland. There is no excuse for the roster moves the last few years.

The GM always gets the praise/scorn for drafting regardless if there is a head scout or not. And FAs are sometimes a crapshoot. Who would have ever expected Jagr, Seguin, Thomas Steen to put up the crazy numbers that they have this year? One of those 3 could have been Weiss.

How many people would be interested in doing a fantasy hockey league?
Also does anyone have any preferences on what fantasy hockey league we use (or if you have done fantasy hockey before how was the one you used)?
Can't wait to see the Habs playing again, go Habs go
The Panthers have asked Tim Thomas and Brygalov to try out for goalie, they must be desperate for a goalie
Fixed for you.
yeah, guess they could you whatever they can get at this point
Habs are looking meh, with a win over the Flyers and losses to the Leafs and Flames. Hope they pick it up

my Canadiens aren't doing terrible, but i mean they're not great right now IMO

sigh, why can't my team be consistent
Hudler + Filppula = 29G, 40A = 9m

suddenly the Panthers have a really good goalie and a solid goalie but still nothing really in front of them
